Motion Assignment

The document contains a series of physics problems related to motion, including calculations of speed, acceleration, average speed, and distance traveled. It provides specific answers for each question, such as the average speed of a car and the required speed for a student to reach school on time. The problems involve various scenarios, including racing cars, cyclists, and trains, with a focus on understanding motion concepts.

MOTION

ASSIGNMENT

Q1) Arrange the following speeds in increasing order:

a) an athlete running with a speed of 10 m/s

b) a bicycle moving with a speed of 200 m/min

c) a scooter moving with a speed of 30 km/h ( bicycle < scooter < athlete

Q2) An object moves along a straight line with an acceleration of 2 m/s2. If its initial
speed is 10 m/s, what will be its speed 2 s later? (14 m/s)

Q3) Two cars A and B race each other. The Car A ran for 2 minute at a speed of 7.5
km/h, slept for 56 minute and again ran for 2 minute at a speed of 7.5 km/h. find the
average speed of the car A in the race. ( 0.5 km/hr)

Q4) The velocity -time graph of SUV is given below.

a. What is the distance travelled by the SUV is first 2 seconds?

b. What is the retardation of the car? (15m, −15m/s2)

Q5)The velocity-time graph shows the motion of a cyclist. Find

(i) its acceleration
(ii) its velocity
(iii) the distance covered by the cyclist in 15 seconds

Q6) A motorcyclist drives from place A to B with a uniform speed of 30 km/h and
returns from place B to A with a uniform speed of 20 km/h. Find his average speed.
(24 km/h)

Q7) If a bus travelling at 20 m/s is subjected to a steady deceleration of 5 m/s2, how

long will it take to come to rest? (4 sec)

Q8) The distance between Delhi and Agra is 200km. A train travels the first 100 km
at a speed of 50 km/h. How fast must the train travel the next 100 km so as to
average 70 km/h for the whole journey? ( 116.6 km/h)\

Q9) A car acquires a velocity of 72 km/h in 10 s starting from rest. Find

i) the acceleration

ii) average velocity

iii) the distance travelled in this time

(2 m/s2 10 m/s 100m )

Q10) An object starting from rest travels 20 m in first 2 s and 160 m in next 4 s.What
will be the velocity after 7 s from the start (70m/s)

Q11) Anand leaves his house at 8.30 A.M for his school. The school is 2 km away
and classes start at 9.00 A.M. If he walks at a speed of 3 km/h for the first kilometre,
at what speed should he walk the second kilometre to reach just in time?
