1. A company produces widgets. For each batch of widgets, they use 2/5 of the raw
material in the first step of production and 3/5 in the second step. If they have 500
kilograms of raw material, how much do they use in each step? (Pattern Recognition)

2. Mary has ¼ of a cake. She gives half of the cake to her sister. What fraction of the cake
does her sister receive? (Draw a picture)

3. Royce bought 20 t-shirts. 1/5 of these t-shirts are small size, 1/5 are medium size, and
3/5 are large size. How many large size t-shirts did he bought? (Draw a picture)

4. Mrs. Perez decided to motivate her daughter to help clean the house and backyard
every day by providing the following incentives: she will give 1/3 of P150.00 on the first
day’s work, 2/3 of P300 on the 2nd day’s work, 4/3 of P600 for the third day’s work.
How much did her daughter earn for the 4th day’s work? (Pattern Recognition)

5. Analiza has 60 pcs of hair clips. ¼ of which are red, ¼ are yellow, the remaining color

2. A group of children play in an orchestra. ¾ of the children play a brass instrument.


Of these children, 2/5 play a trumpet. What fraction of the group of children play a
trumpet? If there are 40 children altogether, how many play the trumpet? (Four Steps)

3. Peppa and Maricel are baking cookies together. They each agree to bring some of the
ingredients for the cookies. The recipe calls for 4 cups of flour. Sasha brings 2 bags of
flour each holding 3/4 of a cup of flour. Emily brings 9 bags of flour each holding 1/4 of
a cup of flour. How much flour do they still need for the recipe? (Four Steps)

4. Annie’s brother, John, made a birthday sign for her. Since Annie was celebrating her
12th birthday, he drew 12 balloons. He colored 8 balloons with blue and the rest green.
What fraction of the balloons were colored blue? What fraction of the balloons were
colored green? (Draw a picture)

5. Gelo’s allowance every day is P300.00. Every day, he saves a portion of his allowance.
On Monday, he saves 5/6 of his money, Tuesday he keeps 4/6, on Wednesday he set
aside 3/6 and so on. How much did he save on Thursday and Friday? (Pattern
