Musculoskeletal Markers On The Shoulders
MUSCULOSKELETAL MARKERS ON THE SHOULDERS
By: Dustin Shinkle
ANTH 3420
University of Northern Iowa
Fall 2016 Abstract The purpose of this paper is to better inform the readers what stress markers are
and what they are able to tell an anthropologist about a person. The reason that this is important is
that it can help identify specific traits of how the person lived their life and a potential
understanding of their work. In reading this paper you will hopefully have a better understanding
how sex, age, and lifestyles can influence stress markers on bones of the shoulder joints.
Introduction:
Musculoskeletal stress markers can be found at the origin and insertion points of a muscle on a bone.
These areas are known also as an enthesis. When using a muscle, a muscle will constrict and tighten,
pulling at the origin and insertion point creating more blood flow to these areas so that they can
create osteoblast as over time the bone that the muscle is attached to will diminish over time if not
restructured. Over time the amount of osteoblast tends to dwindle creating more stress markers left
on the bone. With this anthropologist, can approximate the age of an individual from the markings
that were left behind. Anthropologist are also able to determine to an extent on the sex, weight, and
other traits of the person they are analyzing. When it comes to sex of an individual studies have
found that the stress marking in males tends to be greater in males than that
Symbolism In Strange Fruit By Abel Meeropol And The Flowers
Wherever there is difference, conflict often follows in pursuit. It is evident that this fact has been
present throughout humanity s history since the beginning of time. After thousands of years, it
should be exceedingly obvious of what is causing the great divide between human beings. Yet, even
with so many signs, the humanpopulation is often oblivious to the discriminationmany other
individuals face. For those who are aware, many remain hesitant to help and are even willing to turn
a blind eye to such iniquity. Within the written pieces Strange Fruit by Abel Meeropoland The
Flowers by Alice Walker, this situation is approached in different styles through the utilization of
several literary devices. However, Strange Fruit exhibits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is shown through a blend of sickening and tranquil imagery as well as parallel structure. For
instance, when describing the strange fruit and its setting, the narrator describes [A] Pastoral scene
of the gallant South, The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth (5 6). The two scenes presented to the
reader are immensely contrasting, to the point that it is unsettling. However, the sentence s
structure makes it seem as if such atrocities are an element of what makes the South so gallant and
peaceful, further hinting at the South s acceptance of prejudice as part of its culture. In
continuation with the description of the fruit, the author describes it as being for the crows to
pluck, for the rain to gather, for the wind to suck, for the sun to rot, for the tree to drop (9 11). The
parallel structure of the fruit being incessantly acted upon by another force is heavily repeated
throughout the third stanza. Not only does this give the tone that this process has been occurring
long enough to the point of becoming almost somewhat of a tradition, but it also shows the fruit, the
person, being bruised over and over again until it becomes absolutely unprofitable. People may be
unwilling to help because of the benefits and pride that comes with being able to put
Analysis Of New West Old Story By Timothy Egan
In his article New West, Old Story, Timothy Egan discusses the death of several young
firefighters, known as the Hotshots, who died in a large brush fire protecting property and he
asks, what did they die for? He compares them to the firefighters who died in the aftermath of the
terror attack on September 11th 2001, highlighting how the September 11th firefighters died saving
lives while the Hotshots died protecting property. He goes on to tell of how in the moment most
people are frustrated with firefighters for not going fast enough. He follows later by quoting a
homeowner who praises the men that saved her home. Overall, he analyzes the situation and leaves
his audience with a view swayed by deployment of rhetorical devices. In his introduction, Egan uses
imagery and rhetorical questions to sway the opinion of his audience. What did they die for? he...

This article is supposed to be about the death of young firefighters and questioning the
philosophies that lead to their deaths, which is where it was going initially; Egan, on the other
hand, took it as an opportunity to attack the political views of others. Egan s anti Republican
views that can be found in his more current articles that attack the Republican nominee for
president, Donald Trump are reflected in his statement. By inserting his political opinion into the
article Egan is reaching out to liberal readers, causing them to reflect on their political leaders and
make opinions based on Egan s words, opinions that should not be created from an article like
New West, Old Story . The entire statement is a gap in the article, Egan is discussing the
philosophy of living in fire country, but then he takes a break to attack political ideology. Had he
stayed on course New West, Old Story would flow from one relevant idea to another instead of
having an opening for political

Alternative Communication Systems... during disasters
In Monsoon 2004, severe flood situations in the States of Assam and Bihar caused major devastation.
Many district head quarters got totally cut off from the State head quarter and neighboring districts
due to submerged telephone exchanges or damaged cables and disrupted roads and railways

Scarface Analysis Essay
The gangster movie genre is one of the most popular among the modern movies and some of the
best film directors have produced some very excellent gangster movies. For my first film analysis, I
decided to analyze my favorite gangster movie of all time. The movie that I analyzed is called
Scarface and is directed by Brian De Palma. It was released in 1983 and is still a super hit movie
today. Let me go through a short summary of the movie. The movie is focused around the life of a
man by the name of Tony Montana and depicts his rise to power from a political refugee from
Cuba to a drug warlord. In the course of the movie, Tony Montana also ... Show more content on

Second, I want to cover the cause and effects registered in this movie. A very reoccurring cause
and effect in this movie is whenever Scarface gets angry or mad he snorts more and more cocaine.
I found this relatively funny because by the end of the movie he is snorting a ton of cocaine that
leads up to his demise. Another effect that is shown throughout the movie is Scarface growing in
success and reputation. The cause of this is the many successful business deals that he undertakes
and engages in. Another effect is that he makes more and more enemies along the way. This is
due to his reputation and power rising. Another cause and effect occurs when Scarface has an
argument with his wife and yells at her about her not being able to produce any children for him.
This later on causes him to fail a mission because he is not able to bring himself to kill children. A
major cause and effect in the story occurs when Scarface sees that his best friend is with his sister.
At this point Scarface kills his best friend, which causes his sister to go into major depression, and
which pushes him to indulge in even more cocaine which leads to disaster. Next, let us discuss the
primary causal agent in this film. I believe that the primary causal agent in this film is an ideology
and not a person. The story portrays capitalism as a pursuit of happiness for the main character. If I
did not analyze this film, I may have not found that capitalism is the cause

ourselves with what is coming our way, we were assigned a source evaluation paper. In this paper,
our goal was to firstly select a topic we are essentially interested in and then determine scholarly
sources that would greatly aid us in formulating a potential research exposition. Our job was to find
two sources that are written by scholars within our topics; their scholarliness is fundamentally
judged by whether they have pursued a doctorate degree in their field of study or not and the date of

He received his PhD at Dropsie College of Hebrew and Cognate Learning in Philadelphia, writing
his dissertation on Isaac Abrabanel, a Jewish scholar and statesman who opposed the banishment of
Jews from Spain. In his book, called The Founding Fathers of Zionism, Netanyahu explores the
many points of view of Zionism and the impact it has created on the persons involved along with
the spread of Zionism across the Jewish community. The core reason of approaching this topic,
Zionism was because of the personal connection I have towards it. Zionism was portrayed in one
way all my life and it was an unclear topic that I became to grow to want to learn more about. I
really wanted to look more into it in the summer of 2014, when Palestinians were being massacred
and killed in various violent ways in Palestine by Zionists. The news always briefly went over the
thousands of people that were getting killed without actually explaining the cause and effect and
overlooking each life that was taken away. This gave me the urge to dig deeper into the concept of
Zionism and the roots of where it came from, and how it had formed and spread to have influenced
the people. Netanyahu was able to demonstrate in depth all aspects of Zionism and demonstrate his
influence.
This collegiate novel written by Netanyahu broadened my views on Zionism and on the various
aspects that others habitually criticize about the topic. After getting hold of this book, I

honour of being a best man, It s the first time that Brandon has complimented me in over 30 years,

far things have been going pretty well...until now. Start the car Steve.

I don t remember meeting Brandon for the first time, he just kind of appeared many, many years
ago before I was old enough to have a memory. However, that may well be a good thing, because
some of those early memories are quiet disturbing.
During the mid to late seventies Brandon was quiet convinced that he was 70 s motorcycle pin up
Erik Estrada from Chips.
(At this point I held up a picture of this guy and compared it with a picture of 7 year old Brandon to
emphasise how dissimilar they looked)
He also thought that Cola Cubes made him bionic! A tip that you might like to pick up on there Lisa!
Its testimony to Lisa Brandons relationship that he s now over Erik, and Brandons smile has now
returned following that fateful afternoon back in 1980 when, out of his mind on a quarter of cola
cubes he attempted his first and last ever non handed bicycle jump.
I think I can sum up the moment by combining the words, crown jewels and crossbars. In fact it s a
miracle of medicine that Brandon did not just deliver his speech to you today in the style of Joe
Pescuali.
As Brandon progressed to becoming a teenager he found that if he took his cola cubes in liquid
form and added a decent shot of Vodka, he became even more bionic! Of course some of us know
different.
Yes we know that it made him talk rubbish like the best of us can, but the funniest thing was that it
made him dance like he was actually trying to take his trousers off. At
Inaccuracies In Saving Private Ryan
Saving Private Ryan is considered one of the most historically accurate war movies ever
produced. However, no movie could correctly duplicate the struggle that was faced and the fear
that was shared among all of the soldiers. The movie is mostly centered around Private Ryan, a
soldier during World War II, whose three brothers have died in combat. Not wanting his mother to
lose her last son, eight men are given the mission of finding Ryan so he may be sent back home. The
movie shows the difficulties that these eight men face while searching and still trying to win the war.
Surprisingly, Saving Private Ryanis loosely based on a true story. Like Ryan in the movie, three of
the four Niland brothers were reported dead and the last one was sent home so the family would
not lose all of their children. They later discovered that one of the other brothers was alive after
he escaped from a Japanese prison camp. Unlike in the movie, there was no team assembled to go
after the surviving son. One of the biggest things that the movie got wrong was that they were not
going to risk the lives of many to save one. In the movie, the sacrifice was justified by saying that
the mother did not need to go through losing another son, but it was stated by one of the eight that
they all had mothers who should not have to go through that either. Hey, Wade, I got a... Show more

This is historically inaccurate because the Geneva Conventions had decided that if the Medics
were not going to be fired upon during fighting, they were not allowed to carry any form of a
weapon. Despite doing this in the beginning, later in the movie the medic is not given a gun and is
still fired upon and soon dies of a bullet wound. Lastly, the Battle of Ramelle that occurs at the end
of the movie was fiction. I am sure that at some point during the war a battle similar to that was
fought but even the town itself was
A Literary Analysis Of Disney s Aladdin
Literary Analysis of Aladdin Disney s Aladdin is a film that attempts to stereotype and westernize
Arab culture. Using racially inaccurate stereotypes, an inaccurate depiction of The Middle East, as
well as countless cultural generalizations, Aladdin creates a setting of exotic orientalism and
Islamaphobia. [Aladdindepicts...] the Arab world as backwards and irrational, the films distorted
ethnic representations fuel the western world s fear of alternity and perpetuates dangerous
stereotypes. (Heydt). The stories told in countries such as Arabia, Persia, and Asia were not meant
for children, but for adults. As there were no printed books or written novels, there were those who
sole profession was to amuse others by telling these stories. Such was the case with Aladdin. (The
Story of Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the original story, found in The Arabian Nights , Aladdin has no skills and lives with his
mother as his father died very early on due to his grieving over Aladdin s idleness. In this story
the vizier is not the magician who persuades Aladdin into pursuing the lamp, but an African
magician who poses as his uncle. There are two genies in the original tale, one from a lamp and
one from a ring, compared to the one that is in Disney s Aladdin. Aladdin ends up killing the
magician; however the magician s brother swears revenge and poses as a holy woman in order to
get close to him. In the end Aladdin also kills the magician s brother by driving a dagger through
his heart and lives happily ever after with the princess. (The Arabian Nights). While Disney s
Aladdin is similar to the original story, it is missing the traits of a kind, caring mother and the
willingness of the princess to wed who her father wanted her to marry. These are fundamental traits
and ideas found in Arab culture that are not seen in the Disney

Analysis Of Aldous Huxley s Brave New World
Aldous Huxley published a Brave New World in 1932 in which he depicts a society in which
babies are born in bottles, the concept of an individual cell does not matter as people do not
believe in intimacy, science is used as a form of control, subjugation and conditioning, and drugs
as well as sex are forms of escaping the horrors of reality. Or as Laurence Brander (1970) put it,
Affection and loyalty are unnecessary, beauty is a synthetic product, truth is arranged in a test
tube, hope is supplied in a pill, which by its action annihilates identity. By linking science,
technology, and politics, Huxley predicted that human individuality would wither away . He
believed that his book was not only a satire on contemporary culture, a prediction of biological
advances, a commentary on the social roles of science and scientists but also a plan for reforming
society . Influenced by events taking place during his lifetime, he anticipated various developments
such as World War II. Additionally, his novel was able to prophesize the major themes and
struggles that dominate society even today. This review is going to try to show that through the
use of a modernized style of writing, allusions, symbolism, specific themes and allegory, and subtle
development of his characters the author was able to support his arguments and provide necessary
evidence for his reasoning, but it will also further examine why Huxley s characters might seem too
shallow and superficial to be part of a
The Importance Of Blood Test Experiments
Blood test measurements were gathering data on the following variables: LDL P concentrations
and particle analysis, LDL C concentrations, HDL concentrations, lipoprotein levels, and
triglyceride levels. Other variables the researchers were interested in were 125I LDL
concentrations in urine, degree of stenosis in extracranial and intracranial arteries, stroke severity,
functional outcome 3 months post stroke, CVD and related stroke events, and LDL receptor types.
The variables that the researchers controlled for in these particular studies were the types of
patients used, such as excluding patients due to not agreeing to have a blood sample taken, those
with prior risk for cardiac sourced embolism, and specific diets for the patients... Show more content

The two most common methods to gathering data utilized by the researchers in the various FH
studies either employed direct data collection, such as from medical records from their visits with
physicians or while they are inpatient in a hospital, or the researchers would change some aspect of
the person s life and then collect pertinent data over a set time period. The independent variables that
these studies focused on included hypertensive meds, antidiabetic meds, lipid lowering meds, statins,
intestinal cholesterol absorption inhibitors, prescription omega 3 fatty acids, and antiplatelet agents
that the patients were put on by their physicians, along with an isocaloric diet created specifically for
that particular study, the IV injected solution for the lipoprotein turnover studies, and the lard based
diet. The dependent variables that have been studied thus far include the degree of stenosis, stroke
severity, functional outcome, LDL particle size, the lipid profile variables including total cholesterol,
LDL, and HDL measurement, catabolic rate of LDL, plasma triglyceride concentrations, LDL
receptor activity, and sterol excretion. The secondary analysis
