Understanding the Artwork of Domenikos Theotokopoulos
View of Toledo Like many historical artists, it is impossible to understand the artwork of
Domenikos Theotokopoulus without understanding his historical context. Theotokopoulus
received the nickname El Greco, which means the Greek, during his lifetime, and this nickname
reveals a significant detail about his identity as a man, as well as his identity as an artist. This
was because his nationality played an important role in his artwork, so that his nationality could
almost be described as synonymous with his work during that time. The Mediterranean world of
the sixteenth century the world of El Greco was a world in which three civilisations coexisted,
interacted and clashed: the Latin West; the Greek Orthodox East; and the civilization of Islam.
As a Cretan, and hence a subject of Venice, Domenikos Theotokopoulos, known as El Greco (1541
1614), belonged both to the Greek East and to Latin Christendom. He and his generation lived
much of their lives in the shadow of the confrontation between Christendom and Islam. View of
Toledo, which is El Greco s only pure landscape, is a wonderful example of this cultural clash that
highlighted El Greco s artistry, and it provides a stark example of this confrontation between
cultures, as it features a dramatic difference between the earth and the sky in the landscape of
Toledo, Spain. El Greco was born in the Greek island of Crete. Although he engaged in other forms
of art, El Greco was best known as a painter, particularly a
Essay on Mexican Cuisine
Mexican Cuisine
Mexican cuisine is a style of food that originates in Mexico. It is known for its varied flavors,
colorful decoration, and variety of spices and ingredients, many of which are native to the country.
What makes a meal distinctly Mexican, of course, are the lively seasonings. Not all Mexican recipes
are fiery, though; while renowned for their heat, many subtle and intriguing spice combinations are
also found in Mexican fare.
The staples of Mexican cuisine are typically corn and beans. Corn, traditionally Mexico s staple

The most important and frequently used herbs and spices in Mexican cuisine are chilli powder,
oregano, cilantro, epazote, cinnamon, and cocoa. Chipotle, a smoke dried jalapeño chilli, is also
common in Mexican cuisine. Many Mexican dishes also contain garlic and onions.
Next to corn, rice is the most common grain in Mexican cuisine. Mexican food varies by region,
because of local climate and geography and ethnic differences among the indigenous inhabitants and
because these different populations were influenced by the Spaniards in varying degrees.

Structure, Photoluminescence and electrical properties of PVA Ag nanocomposite films

ABSTRACT
In the present work, PVA Ag nanocomposite films with thickness 0.18 mm, constant silver content
(0.4 wt. %) and different time of reactions (0.1, 3, 5, 7, 9 h) were prepared by chemical reduction
methods. Structure, surface topology, photoluminescence and electrical properties of PVA Ag
nanocomposite were studied using x ray diffraction (XRD), electrometer, atomic force microscope
(AFM) and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used to characterize the prepared
nanocomposites. X ray patterns showed the existence of Ag nanoparticles within the PVA polymeric
matrix with face centered cube (FCC) phase. It was found that the root mean square (RMS)
roughness decrease with increasing the time of reaction. While PL intensity at 427 nm increase as
the time of reaction is increased. Frank poole emission is the prevailing transport mechanism for all
samples.

Keywords: UV Vis spectroscopy, electrical properties, polyvinyl alcohol.

The Influence Of Mr. Jones On Hitler
Mr. Jones wasn t happy with what he had done most likely because it went a little too far and it
might have made students feel bad afterwards. This was because The Wave was so much similar
to Nazis. He wanted to use The Wave as a lesson because a student had asked, Why didn t someone
try and stop Hitler, because it was obvious he was murdering the Jews? Mr. Jones used the same
technique to trick the students into thinking they were apart of something big. The students liked
The Wave a lot because they thought that they belonged to something important. They believed that
Mr. Jones was a strong leader so they were willing to be taken under his control. The students were
more easier to trick into this because it was in 1967, and during this
Literature And Society s Influence On Society
When looking at a specific period of time, it s hard to get a scope of the social zeitgeist without
examining the role of women. Women in history and society are extremely important because their
roles give us powerful insight into the feelings and thoughts of the time. Throughout humanity s time
on Earth, we have reflected societal feelings and norms through art, and literature. Changes in
society can also be seen through the arts, and the roles of women are not exceptions to this insight.
Horror literature is interesting because changes in the monster reflect a change in society. The
depiction of vampires in art and literature shows society s view towards women s rights and sexual
freedom. Changes in these depictions are due to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fear of sex and impurity. Within the same passage, Dracula exhibits dialogue towards Mr.
Harker to make him comfortable. He says I am Dracula, and I bid you welcome, Mr. Harker, to
my house. Come in, the night air is chill, and you must need to eat and rest (Stoker 19). When
Harker tries to bring his luggage up the count says Nay, sir, you are my guest. It is late, and my
people are not available. Let me see to your comfort myself. (Stoker 19). Now this exchange might
seem innocent but it is an attempt by the Count to make Harker comfortable. Much like a would be
sexual partner would do to a woman he was trying to seduce. Even towards the end of the story
when Dracula is clashing violently with Van Helsing, Harker, and the narrator, they still get a sense
of awe and amazement at him. Suddenly with a single bound he leaped into the room. Winning a
way past us before any of us could raise a hand to stay him. There was something so pantherlike in
the movement, something so unhuman, that it seemed to sober us all from the shock of his coming.
(Stoker 346). This goes to show that during the 19th century, people believed that sexual impurity
and danger comes from something or someone you might not expect. As a reaction to such ideas and
thoughts, strict norms and rules were placed upon women. One of the most interesting things about
monsters and more specifically, vampires, is their ability to change.
Historical Accuracy Of The Crown By Peter Morgan
The Crown is a historical fiction Netflix series created and written by Peter Morgan, depicting the
life and the coming to power of Queen Elizabeth II. Despite having only one season available on
Netflix thus far, the show has already managed to capture a widespread audience by providing
them insight into the private life of the Royal Family. As all of the other historical fiction television
series have, the Crown now walks a very fine line to ensure the show is entertaining but also
diplomatic. In order to remain historically accurate while still providing its viewers with an
entertainment value that will keep them coming back, the show s research team worked closely with
historians, studied old newspapers, and made use of the British Library, reading... Show more content

Vanessa Kirby, who plays Princess Margaret explains that although the conversation we ll see are
fictional, the show is kept as strictly to the truth as much as possible (QUOTE WORKSHEET).
Although Morgan s chief focus is to remain as historically accurate as possible while blending the
facts with fiction to provide and entertaining behind the scenes look at the private life of the
Royal Family, the historical accuracies do not extend solely to the events in the plot. Every aspect
of the show from the costumes, to the sets, even the interactions among the extras are historically
accurate. This precision is largely accredited to Major David Rankin Hunt, a former soldier who
worked in Buckingham Palace for over 30 years. Rankin Hunt was hired to ensure the historical
accuracy of the entire series. To Rankin Hunt the minute details were important such as the correct
detailing of decorations and medals on uniform, the use of good morning instead of simply morning
, and the proper greeting of a Royal Family Member towards the
