The City of Buffalo
Home On the outside it is just another place, but this is where it has all started. Thousands of
people call this home. The horrific weather, amazing food, architecture and number of people
makes this place home. This city of Buffalo was known as the Queen City because of its beautiful
lakes. This was a city to see during the early 1800s and late 1900s also known as the booming
time, when the city all started to develop it took quite a time to have it the way it is today. The
history behind it all started with the incredible transportation systems such as the railroads and
the Erie Canal. Industries such as grain, coal, and lumber exports have dominated this area. The
industry brings all different people there to work together and to move grain, coal, and lumber to
other areas. This has brought thousands of jobs to Buffalo and those jobs created even more
jobs. It s difficult to believe that such a city like ours is capable of being one of the cities to have
created America. In todays day Buffalo may not be as fantastic as it was in the 1800 1900s but it
has come a long way. If someone has the time to learn and experience how wonderful this city
really is they should, it s unbelieveable how much Buffalo has been through and how many
accomplishments it has done. The beautiful city as we know it wasn t actually a city for a long
time. The area was found by Joseph Ellicott in 1801; who at the time was an agent for the Holland
Land company. Josephs new land became a
Right After The Civil War
In the 1870s, right after the Civil war was over, begins a important period of time for African
Americans.Previously, in 1865 the 13th amendment was added to the constitution, which abolishes
slavery in the United States. Now, African Americas are free for the first time. However, they
realized that there is not point to have freedom if they lack of economic support or equal
oportunities than other citizens have. Is on 1868, that the 14th amedment is ratified, which states
that all persons born in the United States are citizens, and shall have equal protection of the laws.
And on 1870, the 15th amendment is addressed to the constituion, stating that the right to vote shall
no be denied by any state. All these three amendments were ment to protect the rights of african
Americans and to improve their standards of living. However, they had to face many differet
issues from the 1870s to the turn of the 20th century because there were a lot of people against
them. With the beginning of reconstruction era in the south in 1870, African Americans are now
seeking for a bright future socially and economically speaking. In the presidential elections of 1876,
Repubilcans challenge the results in the south, and congress appopints a committee of 7 democrats,
7 republicans and 1 independent. The committee voted in favor of Hayes by 8 7 votes and Hayes
wins, even though, Samuel J. Tilden won the poupular and electoral vote initially. This leads to the
compromise of 1877 that will end
Bipolar Disorder And Cognitive Functioning And Behavior
Bipolar Disorder and Impairments in Cognitive Functioning and Behavior Bipolar disorder is
behavior disorder that results in shifts of mood, lack of energy, low activity levels, and difficulty
performing day to day tasks. There are two types of Bipolar disorder. Bipolar 1 Disorder, is when the
primary symptom is manic, or cycling episodes of maniaand depression. Bipolar 2 Disorder is
reoccurring depression alongside hypomanic episodes. Manic episodes are periods of elevated,
expansive, or irritable mood that may occur for at least a week. In contrast, depressive episodes are
intensely unhappy or hopeless states. Emotional and drastic changes from the individual s standard
behavior that may occur randomly are called mood episodes. These mood episodes are the reason
that bipolar disorder is sometimes referred to as manic depressive illness. According to the National
Institute of Mental Health, symptoms during manic episodes include talking quickly, racing
thoughts, little sleep, inflated self esteem, and low attention spans. During depressive episodes,
individuals have diminished ability in remembering, indecisiveness, lack of energy to engage in
activities, reduced interest in activities, guilt, feeling valueless, and suicidal thoughts or sometimes
in extreme cases, attempts at suicide. Besides these common symptoms, researchers have found that
bipolar disorder may also cause memory dysfunctions, attention deficits, and learning problems. The
impairments in cognitive
Erikson s Theory Of Psychosocial Development
My Reflection of Erikson Erik Erikson was a developmental psychologist known for his theory of
psychosocial development. Unlike other theorists of his time Erikson s theory focused on human
development across the lifespan from birth to late adulthood. Erikson believed that development
change occurs throughout our lives in eight distinctive stages that emerge in a fixed pattern and
are similar for all people. Erikson argued that each stage presents a crisis or conflict which results
in either a positive or negative outcome (Feldman p.16). In this essay I will identify incidents in
my own life that demonstrate each stage of development according to Erikson that I have lived
through. I will also interview my Aunt Tami, who will share her experiences for the remainder of
the stages of Erikson s development that I have not gone through thus far. Erikson s first stage of
development is the Trust versus Mistrust stage that occurs from birth till 18 months of life.
According to Erikson this is the period in which infants develop a sense of trust or mistrust,
depending largely on how well their caregivers meet their needs (Feldman p. 187). During this
stage of my life I was being taken care of by both Mom and Dad, but primarily by Mom. My Mom
was a stay at home parent while my Dad worked. Both my parents went above and beyond to make
sure I had everything I needed food, shelter, clothes and most importantly love and affection.
Through my positive experience in this stage I developed
Life Styles Inventory Interpretation Essay
The Life Styles Inventory Survey is assessed to allow me to answer the question of, Who am I,
and what causes me to act the way that I do. It gives an insight to one s personality and an insight
as to how we may treat others. By giving my honest opinion of several questions the results are
going to give me an insight on how my thinking styles will influence my behavior as a manager and
allow me to use the results for self improvement. My results show that I Research has shown that the
styles measured by the LSI are related to a number of indicators of effectiveness and success,
including leadership effectiveness, management effectiveness, problem solving effectiveness, quality
of interpersonal relations, salary, organizational... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within the LSI it listed descriptive words of each style and the words that are associated with the
achievement style were very descriptive of me. Words such as, ambitious, achieving, enjoys a
challenge, learns from mistakes and corrects, and many others were very accurate. I am all of
these things and I strive for being the best and doing it better. An example of this is, in my job,
there is training involved and the way that it was done prior to me joining the team was not
effective, at least not to me and as mentioned by the clients, neither to some of them. So, I took it
upon myself to make it better and I came up with my own documents that would assist the client
in learning the new material. I have received very good feedback from it and it is now used by
everyone on our team. Not only is this achievement style shown in my work habits, but it is also
shown in my day to day life. I love to accomplish and to get things done. Whether, it is beating a
game or simply accomplishing a task, of say, painting a room in my house. I tend not to let
anything stand in my way of achieving something that I have set forth to do. I can completely
agree that this style ranked the highest for me in this survey. My backup thinking style, which falls
one hour behind my primary, at the 10 o clock position, was perfectionistic. This style did not rank
as high as my primary, but, with a score of 24 out of 40, it still fell pretty high at the 75%
Pros And Cons Of Cruelty-Free And Vegan
Today, much hype is centered on organic, gluten free, and vegan and cruelty free products. For
many individuals, their lifestyle entails one or another of these themes. With regards to a cruelty
free and vegan, those of whom have taken this path, have selected a lifestyle that they deem
suitable and healthy and/or are driven by moral or ethical principles that are geared towards
minimizing the affliction or cruelty of animals. There are organizations that encourages
consumers to make conscientious choices regarding the personal care products that they
purchase. Cruelty free is a broad label that is not clearly defined by law and does not always
mean that an animal was not armed or killed during the production of a product. A vegan abstains
from the use of animal products and rejects the commodity status of animals. The big question is
Can something be called cruelty free and vegan at the same time? What is Cruelty Free? A lot of
product labels are not what they seem, and the same can be said of labels that read cruelty free .
The term is not defined by a government agency, nor is there a particular set of standards that
accompanies its usage, and as such, each company that adopts the label is free to define for
themselves what cruelty free signifies. It is easy to see how one can construe that these ambiguities
can make these labels meaningless. Cruelty free can pertain to both the finished product, along with
any individual ingredients. Leaping Bunny and People
Textual Analysis Of 12 Angry Men
Although 12 Angry Men was produced in the late fifties it s still a great movie for any viewer to
watch. The film s intensifying conflict does not meet a twenty first century viewer s expectations
such as special effects and character development. However, it is interesting to consider how the film
has incorporated elements like coherent scenes and background music into its production. This film
provides a detailed dialogue of the characters along with character development which entices the
viewer throughout its duration.
This courthouse drama has assigned twelve men to jury duty. The viewer will find this murder case
mystifying by the underlying theme of prejudice. Although the film lacks in special effects and

All the characters have a different opinion, which requires them all to have an opposing
viewpoint. The characters use of actions is what interests the viewer as they present their thought
on what occurred during this murder. If it s not the fury from juror three then we are following
the calm, rational juror eight. As juror three raises his voice and has one of his many mood
altering moments, we are afraid that he might lose his sanity. The acting in this film goes much
further than the character s mood, a great use of acting is in the reenactment scene of how the
weapon entered the victim. As juror three takes the knife and holds it over one of the fellow
jurors and makes the motion of stabbing him we are certain this man has lost control and let his
anger take over. However, we are surprised when he stops right before contacting the other man s
body. 12 Angry Men not only has suspenseful scenes that add to the overall movie, but it also has
the emotional development that makes this film magnificent. In the closing scene, after all men
have agreed to pardon the defendant, juror three finally reaches an emotional breaking point;
however, it is not the way we anticipated. As all the other men exit the room, he is left weeping at
the table over the loss of his son. In a surprising moment, juror eight sets aside the last few hours of
fury between them and offers support to this man. While 12 Angry Men excels in acting
Character Development In Harry Potter And The Chamber Of...
In the book Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter, the main
character goes back to Hogwarts after Ron and his brothers break him out of the Dursleys house.
At Hogwarts people started being petrified, going completely stiff, by a creature that supposedly
comes from the Chamber of Secrets. The heir of Slytherin is the only person able to open the
chamber, and after Harry speaks Parseltongue, snake language, he is the main suspect of all the
kids at the school. Eventually, with the help of his friends, Harry goes into the Chamber and kills
the basilisk and Tom Riddle, who had really been in control of the basilisk. Harry clears his name
and the school year finishes. Throughout the book the theme of character... Show more content on

Next, throughout the middle portion of the book, Harry becomes more and more doubtful of
himself because many people get attacked. Mr. Filch says My cat! My cat! What s happened to
Mrs. Norris? You! He screeched. You! You ve murdered my cat! You ve killed here! I ll kill you!
(Rowling 140). Immediately after Mrs. Norris is attacked, Harry is suspected of being the killer.
This continues during the book. On page 196 Harry is talking to Hermione and Ron after he
spoke Parseltongue, snake language, to Justin, another boy at school, when Ron says, And now
the whole school s going to think you re his great great great great great grandson or something
(Rowling 196). Then Hermione s says, He lived about a thousand years ago; for all we know, you
could be (Rowling 196). Harry s friends even start to consider the fact that Harry may be
responsible for so many people being petrified. The text states, Harry lay awake for hours that
night... Could he be a descendant of Salazar Slytherin? He didn t know anything about his father s
family after all (198). Even Harry started to doubt himself even though he knows he hasn t done
anything to anyone. All in all, during the middle of the book everyone suspects Harry of petrifying
everyone and eventually Harry himself starts to ponder the question. Finally, in the end of the book,
Harry realizes he is not the heir of Slytherin after he goes into the Chamber of Secrets
Alma Monologue
Currently I find myself on the planet Almas. It is here that Akial was last spotted. He was teacher
at the Jedi academy. Where he most likely lived a leisurely lifestyle. However, after the Republic
was brought down, my dear father was pushed to live a life on the run. I first found out about his
status as a teacher here on Almas from a couple of wandering tradesmen while I was still enslaved
by the Hutts. From the moment the moment the two supposed tradesmen stepped into Oyell the
Hutts hall, I knew that both were not accustomed to the roles they were now playing. The one that
talked the most was the Chiss, kinda of an arrogant species if you ask me. The other was
considerably younger and he was of the human race. They certainly did not carry... Show more

The items Oyell was interested in was the Aquata Breathers, the couple wobble balls and an
Imagecaster. All items that are often utilized by the forbidden Jedi. Oyell listened to their limp
nagotions before acting on his suspicion that they were actually Jedi trying their hand at a new
trade. The fight that ensued was quick, but devastating. We lost seven hired guns, while the
arrogant Chiss man was shot through the back of the head by a blaster pistol, he was still
swinging his lightsaber when blast hit. He fell otop his lightsaber that was still aglow, chopping
his body in half from hip to shoulder. Shortly after the falling of the Chiss man the human dropped
his weapon and surrendered. The human was imprisoned with us for over three months according
to the Galactic Standard Calendar. I was put in charge of watching over the human, and to report
anything he told me. In this time I learned much of the Jedi and their ways. At one point he
remarked how he sensed the force was strong in me, but there was also much conflict. I told him he
was stupid as an old Gran and if he kept talking such

of Costa Rica. Costa Rica has more than two hundred volcanoes but only five are active. The five
active volcanoes are Turrialba, Rincon de la Vieja, Poás, Irazú, and Arenal. However, the three
volcanoes which have been making eruptions during this 2017 are Turrialba, Poás and Rincon de la
Vieja, these three volcanoes represent a danger to the habitants but at the same time are so attractive
for tourism. In the other hand, the other two volcanoes Irazú and Arenal have not been making
eruptions since 1994... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People around the world come to Tiquicia for birdwatching. In this piece of land have been
recorded over nine hundred eighteen species of birds. Hummingbirds are the most extended
population we have around three hundred species are able to see in this country. The rain forest
in Monterverde is the house of many hummingbirds, besides that; there it lives the quetzal which
is one of the most beautiful birds because of its colorful feathers. Some other tourists prefer to go
to Caño Negro wildlife refuge where they can spot the Jabirus, which is the largest bird in Central
America. For many birdwatching lovers, just walking in the middle of the forest and breathing
fresh air and listening to the concert of lots of birds give for free are worthy enough to say that you

Theseus And Hippolyta s Symbols
Symbols represent ideas that give a lot of meaning, and so in this Shakespearean play, A
Midsummer Night s Dream , by William Shakespeare, there are symbols that have significant
meaning in the story. The use of the love potion helps resolve the romantic conflicts between the
lovers. The night creates mischief and madness, which causes conflicts between the lovers. As well
as, Theseus Hippolyta s relationship, which symbolizes stability. In this Shakespearean play, by
looking at the love potion, the night forest, and Theseus Hippolyta, these symbols in A Midsummer
Night s Dream enhance the significance of the play. The use of the love potion helps resolve the
romantic conflicts between the lovers. Even though the love potion... Show more content on

Through them and they re relationship, the things around them are can be solved. Like when
Theseus, the Duke of Athens and Hippolyta, the queen of the Amazons decide to include the two
couples to get married with them on their wedding day, which solves the problem in the end. For
example, Fair lovers, you are fortunately met/ Of this discourse, we more will hear anon/ Egeus, I
will overbear your will/ For in the temple, by and by with us/ These couples shall eternally be knit
/ And, for the morning now is something worn/ Our purposed hunting shall be set aside/ Away,
with us to Athens, Three and three/ We ll hold a feast, in great solemnity (IV. i 178 186). In this
quote, it talks about Theseus and Hippolyta letting the two couples get married with them. It talks
about Theseus who overrides Egeus s decision, who is Hermia s father. He tells them that the
couples shall be eternally knit and that all couples will be married along with him, and that they ll
celebrate with a scrumptious feast. Without Theseus and Hippolyta, there would be no sense of
order. Through them and their love, they lessen the chaos and madness to bring the two couples
together and bring back a sense of order in the story at the end. Which goes back to saying that
without this couple, there would not be any order in the story. As well, that they re relationship
symbolizes stability, through they re stability, it helps solve the things around
