Literary Analysis Of Boy At The Window By Richard Wilbur
Sometimes young children can see things a little different. In the poem, Boy at the window , by
Richard Wilbur, a snowman is personified as being emotionally moved due the young boy s fear of
something happening to him during the night. Wilbur conveys the theme of this poem that the
innocence of children can cause someone to be emotionally moved through the point of view,
connotation, personification, and irony he use in his poem. The Point of view of both the little boy
and the snowman in this poem are the main driving force in which the theme is conveyed. The first
stanza of the poem is written in the point of view of the little boy and the second stanza is written
in the point of view of the snowman. Wilbur does this for the... Show more content on

In the poem the night is personified as having a gnashing and enormous moan. According to stanza
one, lines three and four, The small boy weeps to hear the wind prepare/A night of gnashing and
enormous moan. This personification shows how the boys sees the weather in his eyes and how
much he fear the weather for the snowman. This reveals the innocence of the child which is why the
snowman is later moved to trickle the purest rain, a tear, for the boy. Personification was also
used in this poem to personify the snow man as having emotions and feelings toward the little
boy. Due to this we were able to see the boys fear and sadness toward the snowman and the
snowman s reaction of feeling sympathy toward the boy s feelings. Without this personification we
would not be able to know the snow man s feelings are emotions. In this poem personification is a
very contributing factor in showing the innocence of the little boy and telling the feelings of the
snowman toward the little boy when he becomes emotionally moved due to the little boys fear and
sadness. Lastly, irony is used in this poem to convey its theme. One way in which irony is used is
the fact that the snowman has strong emotional feelings toward the boy. This irony is used to show
how the snowman felt toward the boys fear and sadness. Also irony was used when the little boy
thought that the snowman would be hurt by the weather. According to stanza one lines one and two,

The Characteristics Of Baroque Music
At first glance, a number of pieces of baroque music can seem pretty straightforward and simplistic.
When performed exactly as it is written, usually by amateurs, the music may not be able to grab the
listener s attention and it is easy to assume that listeners back then had different musical ears that
modern listeners do that gave them the ability to tolerate such simplistic pieces. Could this really be
the musicthat some records have shown to drive people of the Baroqueera to tears and even the urge
to faint? It is when a vocalist begins to embellish and ornament the various notes and give their own
improvisational touches to the piece that it truly begins to have character and grips the listener with
it s pulchritudinous composition, such as is with works such as Monteverdi s famous Ariadne s
Lament, a gorgeous work capable of moving most to tears; this is the importance of ornamentation
when it comes to musicians performing Baroque era music.
Unfortunately, there has been little research and discussion on what vocal characteristics are suitable
for the most authentic Baroque performance. A very common misunderstanding is that Baroque
music is innately limited, simple, or uninspired; however, the truth of it is that the music of the
Baroque gives the performer the freedom personal expression and individualized that is unrivaled by
most other periods of music history. To further illustrate, the Baroque era is like the instructor that

Analysis of Paul’s Case by Willa Cather Essay
According to many readers of Paul s Case, this is a short story that shows affection, passion, and
most of all enthusiasm. Willa Cather seems to base her stories off of daily life and events that she
thought progressed in many lives. Her passion for writing showed in her literature giving a
visualization on what people think doesn t occur in the regular life of a person. Also throughout
Willa Cathers short stories she gave examples upon her childhood and her time spent in a small

The End Of World War I Enhanced Americans
The end of World War I enhanced Americans confidence in their country as well as in themselves.
The 1920s brought about flappers, the Charleston, and a radical turn of the century. During these 10
years, society s disposition began to change to fit the newer, more youthful movements. The Harlem
Renaissance caused an uproar of newfound interest in literature, music, art, and black culture. Jazz
music became popular, more black writers such as Zora Neale Hurston came to prominence, and
dancers like Josephine Baker shook and shimmied their way to fame. The Prohibition movement also
came to pass, which made the manufacture, sale, and drinking of alcohol illegal, though not everyone
adhered to this policy. The fashion styles and dances of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

By 1925, people were able to hear about the latest fashions on the radio and see them in the movies.
This influenced them to buy what was considered trendy . Newspapers and magazines such as
Vanity Fair and Vogue began printing ads and columns about fashion. What a person would wear
would determine their place on the social ladder, even if they weren t born into that position. A
distinct look was known as the flapper .
Flappers
Flappers were women of the new decade who were known to assert themselves in society and began
to create their own identities. They started to drink and smoke in public, and talked about sex
openly, all of which were highly frowned upon during this time. While smoking, a woman might
wear a Turkish inspired smoking suit along with a turban. They began cutting their hair shorter into
bobs, which was often considered boyish. Fashion designer Coco Chanel and actress Louise Brooks
helped to popularize this look. The style became the staple hairstyle of the flapper. Aspects of
menswear were also inserted into women s fashion, with looks such as tailored vests and pants, but
were prohibited in some areas. This boyish look was often referred to as the garconne look.
By 1925, dresses had become shorter than ever, coming up higher above the ankle. They also had
longer waists, becoming more reminiscent of little girl s dresses in previous years. Because of the
shorter length, garters also became more popular among women.
