Analysis Of The First Nose Job
The first nose job was performed around 2,600 years ago in India. It was performed by a man
named Sushruta. Sushruta was a surgeon from India who wrote the first treatise (a piece of
writing that deals properly and methodically with a topic), on the basic principles of surgery. This
treatise has been translated and passed all over the world leading to many new discoveries in the
surgical world. Many of these discoveries from the treatise deal with plastic surgery, mainly nasal
reconstructions, or some might call them nose jobs. The medical knowledge dealing with plastic
surgery from India (circa 600 B.C.), has had a large impact on what plastic surgery is nowadays.

The Sushruta Samhita contains the major surgical text of the Vedas and is considered to be the
most advanced compilation of surgical practices of its time (S Saraf, R Parihar). Within the Sushruta
Samhita s 184 chapters, lies over 1,100 medical conditions, 120 surgical tools and 300 surgical
procedures. It also contains descriptions on Sushruta s teachings and practices. The information he
wrote in the Sushruta Samhita shows he has considerable knowledge of relevance even today (S
Saraf, R Parihar). In Indian medical literature the Sushruta Samhita is one of the most brilliant gems
(Bhattacharya, Surajit). The Sushruta Samhita is split into two parts, the Uttara tantra and the Purva
tantra which is in five sections. It is also believed to be apart of the Arthaveda, which is part of the
Vedas, the ancient scriptures of Hinduism. The influence of the Sushruta Samhita isn t supported
only by the amount of knowledge within it s pages, but by the approaches that he used that are still
used to this day.
You re probably wondering how the information from Sushruta and the Sushruta Samhita got all over
the world. It started when surgery in India began its decline during the time of the Buddha (562 472
B.C.). Surgical knowledge was put into lower castes, such as the untouchables, peasants and
servants, but was kept alive by passing the information through the generations. Eventually Buddhist
Changing Face of World Missions
In Matthew 28:19 20, Matthew records Jesus last words to His disciples these verses have become
known as The Great Commission. Since, the giving of the Great Commission followers of Christ
has left their own culture in order to engage another with the saving message of the Gospel.
Numerous books, articles and blogs have been written on the subject of WorldEvangelization or
Missions. One such book on missions is called, The Changing Face of World Missions: Engaging

While the book has one over arching thesis, inform the reader about the changing face of
globalization (12) each section has a thesis which helps to direct the thoughts of the readers and
writers in a particular section. The authors are not attempting to argue for one particular aspect of
world missions but rather they are attempting to provide an overview of the issues which are taking
place in world missions.
The first section deals with the issue of missions within a larger global context. The authors explain
their purpose is to, describe major trends in the world to which we minister (14). The text deals with
globalization, changing demographics, the movement of world religions and the world s shift from
modernity to post modernity. The authors argue for an emphasis on globalization stressing that
globalization changes the context in which we minister. Globalization matters because it
fundamentally changes the contexts in which we minister; the way people and cultures perceive
each other; how people think and the means available to reach them (24). Globalization has affected
the way Christians view the world and also how Christians share the Gospel. The authors identify
the changing demographics and engage the reasons why individuals are moving away from their
country of birth. The authors provide detailed description of the issues facing migration as well as
evaluations and ways for
John Marshall Website
College websites serve a variety of purposes for prospective and current students, which include, but
are not limited to, generating information, data collection, and facilitating online transactions.
Accelerated accessibility of web presence through a variety of platforms, from desktops to
smartphones, propels websites to the forefront of many colleges introduction to prospective students.
The aesthetic composition of websites is as significant as is practicality in our modern technological
age, and mastery or shortcomings in either attribute can engender positive or negative assumptions
respectively from visitors. Approximately 80 percent of websitevisitors assume that the design of a
website is reflective of the entity it represents, according to researchers (Lowry 63). Subsequently, I
have decided to conduct an analysis of Atlanta s John Marshall Law School s (AJMLS) website
(Front) due to recent interactions with the site while applying for admission. During this essay, I
will explore the aesthetics, practicality, and inconsistencies inherent in the site when accessed on
mobile platforms as compared to desktops. John Marshall is an Atlanta based, private law school

House Altar With Akhenaten, Nefertiti And Three Daughters

House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters
The art of the ancient Egyptians is known for how consistent it remained for thousands of years. The
Amarna period is significant because it was a brief shift from that consistency under the Pharaoh
Amenhotep IV, (who later changed his named to Akhenaten) his Queen, Nefertiti and later,
Tutankhamen. They began worshipping the sun god Aten, which is evident in the art that was
commissioned. Instead of using strict registers, walls were cluttered with images. (Giuliano). An
example of this stylistic turn is the House Altar with Akhenaten, Nefertiti and Three Daughters.
The house altar is a piece that was carved into limestone during the Amarna period of the 18th
dynasty around 1350 BC. It would have been similar to the altars found in homes that the royal
couples subjects could worship. That altar features the royal couple and three of their daughters in a
domestic setting. Akhenaten and Nefertiti are depicted as the only ones with access to the god
Aten, characterized by a sun disk with a cobra engraved in it. The family scene is also warmer and
intimate than those that came before it, (Lorenz) which is marked by the parents holding their
children lovingly in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The children also appear disproportionate and are depicted as miniature compared to their parents,
which was very atypical from the traditional approach where bodies were perfectly balanced.
Another example of this type of style is the famous Nefertiti bust, which also shows the elongated
head and crown. Conversely, on a sandstone block from Theban tomb 55 of Ramose has an
example of Amenhotep IV s image in the style of his father s reign, where his features are not
distorted and are much more traditional ( Images of Amenhotep IV 89), which is in contrast to how
he is depicted in the Amarna

La Purisima A.) The mission chapel is beautiful. The beauty of this chapel can compare to the
Santa Barbara one. They both are bright in color. When in the chapels I get a warm feeling. Old

daily duties consisted of mixing mud with straws to make adobe bricks to build. The Spanish
soldiers lived a more foreign like lifestyle because the mission and their teachings were rather new
to the natives. Some natives were blacksmiths and would build and repair the tools of Spanish
society. Gradually, Chumash stone implements gave way to iron and steel. The Natives also lived

accomplished traders that had a monetary system based on beads and seashells. Traded herbs,

natives had to relocate the original site from just outside of Lompoc, Ca. The natives refused to
return to the original site, so the missions father decided to relocate to an area called La Canada

be more difficult for the buildings to damage each other if they fell during another earthquake. La

Evolution Of Merlin Research Paper
Arthurian Literature: The Evolution of Merlin

In all the long history of literature, some fictional characters have loomed above others, written
about again and again by various authors of various eras. Arthurian literature is one area of fiction
that has always been popular for writers to recreate in new versions, and one of the most intriguing
characters of all Arthurian literature is Merlin, the magician/ prophet who aids Arthur early in his
reign. As the Arthurian saga develops, so does Merlin, changing from an aloof, druidical character
into a more human, magical being, though always retaining some traces of his Welsh origins.

Merlin gains his first mention in eight ancient Welsh poems attributed to the ... Show more content

Here we first meet the character Merlinus ( Merdinus, a more exact Latinization of the original
Welsh, was impractical because of its similarity to the Latin or French word for excrement, surely
an inappropriate name for a great hero). (Bruce) Yet the Merlin of this story is not the great
magician of later works. In his tale, Geoffrey uses not the Latin word magus, which would imply
that Merlin was some sort of sorcerer, but rather the word vates, commonly indicating a poet or,
often, a prophet or seer. (Tatlock) Merlin does exhibit many features of a mystic in Geoffrey s
Historia: he uses clairvoyance in the familiar case, borrowed from Nennius, of Vortigern s vanishing
tower; he foretells Vortigern s death and prophesies to Aurelius and Uther of Arthur s coming reign,
also making several predictions about political events occuring just prior to the publication of the
Historia; and he interprets to Uther Pendragon a portent of the death of the king Aurelius Ambrosius.
(Bruce) Clairvoyance, prophecy, and the interpretation of dreams are all rather shamanistic actions
that would fit Merlin s Welsh character as a druid.

Merlin is not yet a romance magician in Geoffrey s work: the few feats later expanded into mighty
demonstrations of magic are not so in Geoffrey. Merlin disguises Uther as Gorlois for his rendevous
with Igerne using medicamenta, which could include
The Cultural Theory Of Masako Odawa s Culture
Masako Odawa was Harvard and Oxford educated, spoke five languages and held a position as a
career diplomat in Foreign Ministry with many possibilities for a bright future. However, at 29
she gave all that up to marry Crown Prince Naruhito. Western observers criticized her decision,
they viewed her choice as an attack on her personal freedom since. However, to Japanese, Masako
s decision was a natural consequence of her role, as a daughter and as a member of the royal family.
Culture, thus, plays a crucial role in interpreting a situation. The values of a society influence the
creation of the self concept and choice of the individual. Masako s choice aligned with the values of
her culture. Cultural differences are present when a choice is made and the interpretation of it.
However, to better understand this, this paper will explore the cultural differences found in self
esteemand cognitive dissonance.
The self esteem motive is people s need to see themselves as good, competent and descent. Self
esteem is constructed by the individual, a person s self concept develops in part by the thinking
styles and values of the culture they belong or identify with. While maintaining a positive self image
is the basic tenant, having a high self of esteem has a myriad of benefits; it protects people against
thoughts of their mortality, let s them feel more optimistic towards the future, motivates people to
persevere in challenging situations, and allows them to set higher goals for
Thurber Family
Since I am a person who is very afraid of dogs and could not stand living in constant fear of being
bitten, I most certainly would not deal with Muggs in the same way as the Thurber family. The
decision to have a dog is a complicated one, involving not only the initial decision to acquire the dog
but also the subsequent decisions about how to train and discipline the dog, and what to do if the
dog turns out not to be a good fit for the family.
Firstly, I believe that having a family dog is a choice that should be made by all members of the
family. Bringing a dog into a home is too important an event to be left to chance; there should be a
family consultation about what type of dog would best suit the family, and the responsibilities that ...

There is no reason to keep a dangerous dog around, and Muggs was sufficiently troublesome that
lots of people reported [him] to the police (p.409). These days, such police reports would probably
result in Muggs being euthanized and the parents being fined or taken to court. It would be
difficult to find another home for a dog like Muggs, but perhaps one solution would be to ask
particularly unpleasant acquaintances if they would like to adopt a dog who would fit right in with
their household, and make sure that they lived a very long way
The Causes of the First World War
This question has formed part of the historiography of the causes of the First World War, a
historical debate that has endured ever since the conflict ended. It periodically resurfaces with
new theories being advanced such as the Fischer thesis, usually on account of the release of
previously unseen documents or because of a shift in the political climate. It has emerged to the
fore once again because this year is the centennial of the war s outbreak and there are plans to
commemorate it nationally across the UK. In order to fully understand how Britain s decision to
go to war against Germany is best explained one must engage into the debate revolving around the
question of the extent to which Britain and other countries were responsible for causing war. This
helps explain the intention Britain had for war which is vital in understanding their decision
making process to cause war in the first place. Some schools of thought have come to the
conclusion that it was everybody or nobody the continent slithered over the brink into the boiling
cauldron of war without any trace of apprehension or dismay. 1 That analysis will be considered in
this essay as will the widespread thesis that it was Germany s aggression which not only created the
preconditions for war, but also triggered Britain into war with the political imbalance of power
being created from the growing naval and colonial expansion of Germany. Other factors that help
explain why Britain went to war against Germany
New German Materialism
The efforts of the Western Allies to eradicate Nazism in the West German film industry in the years
following the Second World War largely attributed to the emergence of New German Cinema. By the
mid 1950s, the persistent pursuit of their political and economic self interests left the West German
cinema in an economically and artistically detrimental state, thus calling for government
intervention. This, in turn, resulted in the inauguration of the 1962 Oberhausen Manifesto. Written
and signed by twenty six young German filmmakers who rejected the traditional German cinema, it
emphasized their belief in the necessity for films to reflect the state of contemporary Germanyrather
than to entertain. As a result, they set out to create artistically challenging films that effectively
reflected the materialism of postwar Germany, the state of various social classes, as well as the
moral disaster that the Nazi legacy left. In prioritising the production and distribution of these films,
the group were successful in gaining financial and augural control in... Show more content on

Essay on Intelligence Analysis
If you had that one piece of the puzzle that would have prevented the bombings of the twin towers
in New York and the Pentagon on September 11 2001 would you know it? If you saw someone do
something weird or suspicious before the attack on September 11 2001, would you have called the

know someone was going to use a plane to destroy New York in two days, could this have stopped
the attack? IntelligenceAnalysis puts the raw sources of information together, make predictions based

and voice . The musical pieces that were played during this concert were very diverse in terms of the
environment and emotion it conveyed. As suggested by the title of the concert, the environment was

After the performance, they would end with a friendly handshake and a bow to the audience. To
me, this shows that there was no major hierarchy taking place. Being that this performance was
indoor, I do believe that there would be a shift of mood if it were to be in an outdoor setting. The
environment would completely change if it were in an outside environment as it creates more of
an opportunity for distractions. As mentioned previously, the lighting in the Lang Recital Hall
creates a center of focus around the performers. Among the participants, some dressed casually,
while others dressed traditionally in a simple suit and tie. There was no strong uniformity in
terms of the clothing that was chosen to be worn. However, among the audience, there was
generally a strong uniformity as most chose to wear casual attire. During this concert, a total of
