Nutritional Needs of a Pregnant Woman Compared to Those of...
Within this assignment I am going to look at the main nutritional needs for pregnant women and
adolescents and discuss the similarities and differences between their nutritional requirements.
[1] Firstly, the nutrients needed by pregnant women are Vitamin A, Vitamin D, Vitamin E, Vitamin
C, Vitamin B (B1, B2, B3 amp; B6), Folic Acid (B9), Calcium, Iron, Protein, zinc. (2011)
Vitamin A is needed for the baby and mother need because it helps to develop bones and teeth. The
pregnant mother must take 770 micrograms of Vitamin A per day. There are many different food
sources in which you can find vitamin A, these are: milk, eggs, carrots, spinach, green and yellow
vegetables, broccoli, potatoes.
Vitamin D is needed as it helps the body ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Food sources in which protein can found are most animal foods, meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products,
veggie burgers, beans, legumes and nuts.
Zinc is needed because it helps produce insulin and enzymes. The dose needed is 11 12 milligrams.
Food sources in which zinc can be found are red meats, poultry, beans, nuts, whole grains, fortified
cereals, oysters and dairy products.
[2] Secondly, the nutrients needed by lactating women are calcium, vitamin A, C, D and B12,
calcium, iron and protein. (2012)
Calcium is needed for lactating women as it helps to strengthen a baby s bones and it also helps to
prevent weakening of the mother s bones as well. It is also needed as calcium can help your bones
recover from the pregnancy. The dose needed is 1,300 milligrams per day. Foods sources in which
calcium can be found are milk, yogurt, fortified orange juice and cereals.
Vitamin C is needed for a baby to develop well as it helps our bodies fight off infection and disease
as well as helping to heal wounds. It can also prevent anemia. Some lactating mothers may need
more vitamin C than others, especially if overcoming a cold, surgery or some form of injury. The
dose needed is 115 mg or 120 mg per day. Food sources in which vitamin C can be found are citrus
fruits, broccoli, Kiwi, cauliflower and bell peppers.
Vitamin A is needed as it helps in the formation and maintenance of healthy skin and hair. It is also
necessary for proper bone growth and tooth

Oh yes the past can hurt, but you can either learn from it or learn from it. Rhafika The quote is
pretty much saying that you should learn from the past and make better choices because of your
past. This quote is appealing to social life because everyone lives by this quote without even
knowing. This source shows examples of this quote and how people learned because of their
hardships.

Robert Downey Jr. thrived and learned from the past in many ways. Although he is thriving now,
his early life was not so good but he found a way to pull through. In Britannica s Biography she
states that Robert Downey Jr. dropped out of highschool pursuing an actor career and progressed
very slowly(Dow 1). At first, success was slow, but his success slowly ... Show more content on

For half of Sanders life, he was not known and not popular but that changed drastically. According
to Hutchingson s biography he states, Reduced to living on social security payments, Sanders
took to the road franchising his fried chicken recipe(Har 1). Sanders success came very slowly.
The fact that he was poor and is now the founder of a very popular chain restaurant shows that he
succeeded even though he had a lot of troubles. Although Sanders had a recipe, he couldn t really
do much with it, but it will soon make him wealthy. In Britannica s biographies she states, After
selling his restaurant, Sanders took to the road armed with his recipe but signed up only five
restaurants in two years. By 1964, however, there were more than 600 franchises in the U.S and
Canada and Sanders was making $300,000 a year(Har 1). Seeing how Sanders only signed up five
restaurants in two years shows that he was not really that successful with his recipe. He did infact
overcome this because later down the road he was signed up to 600 different franchises and
started making money. Although Sanders is as popular and successful as he is know, he never
got handed anything, he succeeded all on his own. Another passage from Hutchingson s
biography states, Sanders founded the Kentucky fried chicken(KFC) franchise in 1956, at the age
of 65, using his monthly $105 dollar social security check(Har 1). Sanders failure of jobs and lack
of money would be something most people can t overcome. Sanders only made 105 dollars a
month at the age of 65 and still found a way to become rich. This shows that he learned from the
past and changed yet his

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Theme Essay
In A Good Man Is Hard to Find , Flannery O Connor reveals a theme of resistance between the
good and the evil in the faces of the grandmother and the Misfit. Even though the story presages the
tragedy from the first paragraph and throughout, it is still appalling enough to discover that the
whole family was murdered by Misfit and his accomplices. O Connor confronts the delusion of
faith, showing that the evil can and will defeat the good with ease. The story begins with the
introduction of grandmother trying to convince her son and his family to change their vacation
plans and drive to Tennessee instead of Florida by pointing out the article about the Misfit, the serial
killer who escaped from prison and hides somewhere down in the... Show more content on

Every person who has read and analyzed the story may find the grandmother the representation of
evil and Misfit the executor of justice. Perhaps, some will see the unfairness in the death of the
grandmother and her family, despites all their flaws; death is an extreme and harsh punishment, and
Bailey s family did not deserve such a filthy outcome. In any case, A Good Man Is Hard to Find is
the shocking fiction leaving us in a fog, trying to scale the level of decency and humanity not only in
the story, but in the real life.

Toni Morrison Banning Beloved
Mr. Smith, I would like you to know that banning Beloved written by Toni Morrison will not
shelter your child from learning the horrible truths of this country s past and how it truly affected
the black community. Whether it be social media, friends, or family who teach your child about
slavery, your child will know the history of the black men and women who were kidnapped from
their homes and forced into servitude. Beloved s purpose is to teach it audience the earth shattering
reality of the effects of slavery. Beloved is not meant to push a feminist agenda, emasculate men, or
inaccurately depict slavery. Morrison s depiction of life after slavery is essential to understanding
how racial discrimination and racist tendencies negatively impact... Show more content on

Did you know that Beloved, is based on the true account of Margaret Garner? Garner was a slave
mother who killed her children in an attempt to eternally free them from the chains of slavery.
Morrison uses the true story of a slave mother who is so desperate to break the cycle of misery for
her children that she took their lives with her bare hands to create a narrative that depicts the
heart breaking truth of struggles of the black woman. Other slave narratives, like Incidents, and
Narrative of Frederick touch on the topic of black mother hood and how they are ripped from
their children and forced to tend to the children of a white man. Incidents, tells of a slave s New
Year s Day and how children are sold to slave masters across the country, never to be seen or heard
from again. This reality is enough to drive any woman mad. In Beloved, Seethe, a runaway slave,
tries desperately to shelter her children from the outside world because she fears that the grasp of
slavery will come bearing chains for them. Seethe knows too personally, the truth of slavery and
the hurt of the real world. Seethe is driven by her fear of the past and has lost all rationality. This
affects her children negatively. Seethe is eighteen years old but has very childish tendencies. It is
not until the presence of Beloved, who is the personification of slavery, drives her from 124 and she
is able to make purposeful independent
Ethical Dilemma Between Acme And Beta, And The Legal...
Businesses do not operate in isolation; they operate within a regulatory framework. This is
illustrated by the scenario between Acme Incorporated ( Acme ) and Beta Incorporated ( Beta ).
Acme registered a patent on a cancer curing drug, six months ago. Acme s president publicly
announced that they would not place the drug on the market. Beta copies and manufactures the drug,
which it then markets. They make no profit on the sale of the drug and only charge enough to cover
the manufacturing costs. Beta s actions are a clear infringement of Acme s intellectual propertyrights
and are therefore protected by law, however, there are ethical considerations to take into
consideration to determine which course of action is best for both companies. A compromise can be
reached between Acme and Beta through alternative dispute resolution rather than through a judicial
process.
The Legal Environment of Business
The legal environment of business provides principles, standards, and rules that regulate how
businesses should operate (Meiners, Ringleb Edwards, 2012). In the modern business environment,
businesses need not only be cognizant of rules and regulations in the form of legislation and
common law but are also subject to ethical, legal, social, political and international (Meiners et al.,
2012, p.20) norms. For a business to succeed it is vital for managers to understand the legal
environment to ensure that they conduct their business affairs within the parameters of the law,

James H. Cone, a black theologian of liberation who like all other black theologians was seeking
freedom and justice. Cone has a strong condemnation toward racism and oppression of black
people, especially within the black church. He strongly believed that religion is the solution to
any problem. Dutifully, Cone turned to scriptures as the sanction for his demands, not allowing
anyone or anything to separate him from the love of God. James H. Cone main objective was to
resurrect himself and his people from the ashes of racism by using the foundation of the Black
Church [scriptures] and confronting adversity. Dr. King tussled with the cares of life looking for
solutions, concern for his family, and stood up for righteousness, justice, and truth. Dr. King knew
what he was up against was daunting and knew enough to call on the name of Jesus. Dr. King
believed in the power of prayer even through the countless number of threats he received and even
arrested he stood unyielding for what is right, justice. Dr. King refused to sink in the quick sands of
racism and abhorrence. Dr. King realized that he had to alter the mindset of society if change was to
come. These two famous thinkers were mindful of the test and misery they would face. Their work
addresses the advancement for minority people with the hope and promise to expunge racism among
all people. During these historical moments one could only imagine that the most important audience
Differences Between Federalist And Democratic Republicans
Political philosophies amongst Federalist and Democratic Republicans have been much conflicted
throughout the years. The Federalist who was led by Alexander Hamilton were seeking to increase
the power of the central government then there was the Republicans who were led by Thomas
Jefferson whom were seeking to decrease the power of the central government. The Federalists
advocated the importance of a strong central government to protect the republic from the imprudence
of democracy leading the country forward, while the Democratic Republicans promoted increasing
the common man s role in government. Although both political parties had good intentions for the
future of the United States, the Federalist Party was much more effective at uniting... Show more

About 20 to 30 years prior they won their independence from Britain but the feeling of failure still
stood amongst the people. The Federalist Party were at large to destroy the threat of failure by
fortifying the United States central government. In Hamilton s mind, the outcome in strengthening
the central government would allow freedom of speech and self freedom thus uniting American
citizens. Hamilton had witnessed firsthand the political and economic confusion caused by states
conflicting interests and corrupt taxation policies under the Articles of Confederation. He saw that
the Federalists must take control of the political and economic decision making for the Union to still
stand a chance to survive. In order for the Federalist government to take control of conflicts before
getting worse jeopardizing the United states future they adopted the philosophy of loose construction
which allowed a flexible interpretation of the United States Constitution that granted the Federal
government implied powers , powers that were not specifically granted to them by the Constitution.
Hamilton believed that allowing the Federal government such freedoms was important to the well
being of the country because this allowed the government to act in whatever manner would best
serve the country s interests, even if the actions stretched the limits of power set in the Constitution
or even at times violated. Even though the Democratic Republicans opposed, Alexander Hamilton
asked congress to charter the Bank of the United States which would be jointly owned by private
stock holders and the National government. The Bank stored excess printed paper money that was
valuable. This excess money allowed cash to circulate to prompt American businesses by making
loans to merchants, handling government funds, and issuing bills of credit. The National Bank was
largely beneficial to the American people, and yet it was
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
Anthony Burgess s A Clockwork Orange has been placed under much scrutiny by literary critics
and readers everywhere. Furthermore, this highly criticized novel contains a myriad of ways to
engage with the work, whether it is from the psychological or ethical perspective. Through College
Literature Journal s article O My Brothers , the unnamed author draws interesting connections
between the main character s development and how pseudo families and pseudo self plays a part on
this said development. The author of this article generates an association between Alex s pseudo
families who have not accomplished what families are expected to accomplish in one s life, and the
way that Alex behaves because of it. Interestingly enough, the author... Show more content on

relationships that Alex has had throughout the course of the novel. This broad application results in
the haziness of the term family due to the fact that all of these relationships offer diverse
expectations from the individual; one would expect different things from their family, than from
their friends. For instance, Alex would expect treatment from his ineffectual parents to differ from
his expected treatment from his droogs . Furthermore, when someone undergoes a failing friendship

Yugoslavia War Research Paper
Often termed as Europe s deadliest since World War II, the Yugoslavia War has been infamous for the
war crimes, which include ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity and rape. These wars
supplemented and aided the weathering of the Yugoslav state, when its constituent republics declared
independence, but the issues of ethnic minorities in the new countries (chiefly Serbs, Croats and
Albanians) were still unsettled at the time the republics were accepted internationally. The
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia(ICTY) was established by the United
Nations to prosecute these crimes. According to the International Centre for Transitional Justice, the
Yugoslavia War led to the deaths of 140,000 people.
