Sleep Apnea Theory
Epidemiology: Obstructive sleep apnea is becoming more prevalent in adults and children in our
society. Obstructive sleep apnea is undiagnosed mostly in women being 92% and 80% in men.
The estimated prevalence in women is 2% and in men is 4%. A study was done by the University
of Pennsylvania revealing that the prevalence in women was 4% and 9% for men. Another study
called The Wisconsin Cohrt study showed that people who are 30 to 60 years old, the prevalence is
9 24% for men and 4 9% for women. Although Obstructive sleep apneais less certain in children, in
the recent years they have seen an increase of cases of children who have sleep apnea. This is due to
the fact of children being obese or to their counterparts. Although there has been an increase of
cases this might be an effect of being sleepy or hyperactive. Nonetheless as a result of a recent
study in 2007 they have concluded that 6% of children who are teenagers. There was a done by The
California University of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was a community sample performed to see what was the percentage of people who are 65
years or older. After the tests they found out that the prevalence was 65%. After 65 years old there
is no big difference on the topic of Obstructive Sleep Apnea. According to Community studies The
male to women is 2 3:1. The body patterns of males including body fat distribution makes them
more inclined to get Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Women are not only less likely than men to get
Obstructive Sleep Apnea, but also are less likely to get diagnosed early in the disease process. It
has been proven that the rates of survival are lower for women due to the fact of they get the
diagnosis too late. Studies also show that women have a higher prevalence to get Obstructive Sleep
Apnea after Menopause.
Mathylde Frontus Research Paper
The Coney Island is known for being a family friendly place by being filled with rides and
festivals and by being a popular family destination that allows a family to have fun and enjoy a day
with the family. The only problems are that not a lot of people realized that Coney Island is home to
more than an amusement park but it is home to a community that cares about each other and wants
to help improve the environment they live in. Within each new and old members of the community
new achievement are being created which are helping to create many amazing inspirational stories.
Mathylde Frontus is one of the many stories that inspired others to look at Coney Islandas more than
a family friendly vacation area, but to look at it as a place where change is being made and new
creation or movement are being created.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Growing in the environment she did, Mathylde Frontus knew that she loved to help out and
volunteer, especially because her parents would always make her and her younger sibling
volunteer in places like the local soup kitchen. After being part of a unique school system during
her elementary, middle and high school years she went on to go to many well known universities
like NYU and Harvard. During her university years, she studies civil works and went to get her
Ph.D. While she was getting her Ph.D. she began to realize that she can do more for others which
made her want to create the Urban Neighborhood Services. She notices that the community that
surrounded Coney Island was truly affected by poverty and she did not like that no one was not
Essay about My First Job At Buzzys Diner
My First Job at Buzzy s Diner
The first job I had was at Buzzy s Diner, located in a small suburban town in upstate New York. It
isn t a classy restaurant, it isn t even a very clean one, but during the hours that its open in the
morning it is probably the busiest place within fifteen miles. Although the food there is inexpensive
and very good, the main reason people eat their lunch and breakfast there is because of the diner s
cozy atmosphere and timeless quality.
The diner is in a building that is about 65 years old and when you first walk in and take a seat, it
seems like you just traveled backwards in time.
Along one side of the dining area there is a counter ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hanging on the wall behind the counter there is a collection of old frying pans and various
outdated wooden cooking utensils. On the other walls there are mirrors, wildlife sketches, black and
white photographs of the diner from when it first opened 40 years ago, and plagues that the owner
received from the local volunteer fire department.
Except for the mirrors, there is a story behind everything that is hanging on the walls. Usually any
bare spots on the walls are occupied by postings of upcoming town events like craft shows or school
concerts.
Near the top of the back wall, there is a shelf that stretches aross the length of the room. The shelf
is filled with old, empty food cans with fading labels. Scattered in with the cans are dusty liquor
bottles of assorted colors, shapes, and sizes.
Most of the regulars that faithfully visit Buzzy s every day are older people in their 60 s and 70
s. They usually arrive early in the morning or just after the main rush to avoid the crowds. For
some of them, stopping by Buzzy s has probably been a part of their daily routine for fifteen
years. They all know everyone in the diner and they come to see each other and have a friendly
conversation. As they take their time drinking their coffee and telling jokes or stories from when
they were younger, you can tell that this is one of the highlights of their days. Some of them were

The Positive And Negative Aspects Of Diversity In Public...
Diversity in public communication
Corporations have a task of coming up with effective strategies of public communication in order to
compete and survive in the market. Over the past several decades, there have been changes in the
way corporates communicate to the public with acquisitions, mergers, and divestitures coming up.
Another catalyst helping corporations to rise is the effect of globalization. It may be seen as a good
investment or not, trustworthy or not, good corporate citizen or not and easy to do business with or
not. Over the years, there has been diversification in communication to the public with the use
available means.
The public also communicate among themselves using different communication media. In not only
the United States but also globally, people who use harsh words in public speech are perceived
negatively. For public speakers, your audience will judge you based on how you effectively
communicate (Bel, 2010). Public speakers who have content mastery and are moving will be liked
by many while those who continuously read their scripts and do not use methods to capture the
audience will be liked by less or none. In a similar manner, businesses have to use public
communication to advertise their products, sell their products, and get customer feedback. If the
adopted strategies are vague or outdated, then the business will not grow. This paper attempts to
examine the positive and negative aspects that the growing diversity in public
The Pathology Of Asthma
A major health problem for nearly 26 million Americans is asthma. This total includes more than 7
million children. Asthma causes millions of lost school and work days every year and is the third
leading cause of hospitalization among children. There is no cure for asthma, but the good news is
that it can be managed and treated, allowing you to live a normal, healthy life ( Learn About Asthma,
2016). One out of ten children and one out of twenty adults are diagnosed with asthma (Bryan,
2004). Asthma is noted as one of the most common chronic disorders among children under the age
of 18. In addition to the millions of lost school days, it is also the third leading cause of
hospitalization for children. It is also noted to cause limited daily... Show more content on

In 1816, a French physician named Rene Laennec invented the stethoscope, which allowed
physicians to listen to the lungs of patients with asthma. Laennec was convinced that the muscles
involuntarily contracted the airways. The spirometer became an important medical tool in 1846. It
allowed physicians to measure the strength of a patient s lungs, as well as how much air could be
inhaled. In 1860, Henry Hyde Salter, an asthmatic English physician, penned his research on several
hundred patients, and his realization that asthma tended to become worse when the patients were
sleeping. His recommended treatment for the asthma attacks: drink strong black coffee. He also
found that asthma responded to belladonna, known as deadly nightshade, which, of course, is very
poisonous. But, a chemical known as atropine, which is combined with belladonna, helped to relieve
asthma attacks. In 1892, Sir William Oster, an English physician, described three mechanisms of
asthma, which has formed the basis of today s treatments of asthma. Sir William Oster proposed that
asthma was caused by muscle contractions, inflammation and abnormal nerve activity within the
airways. By the early part of the 20th century, scientists were able to produce a variety of different
drugs that were able to relieve the muscle
Discuss Some Advantages Of Having Your Genome Sequenced
Today s technology allows us to do so much more than what we used to be able to do. We have
many more medicines and ways of treating illnesses and diseases. We now have new technology
that can aid in helping us know what a certain disease and it can help us figure out what someone
is sick with quicker than what we used to. I think that it would be neat to be able to know what
disease or illness that I may end up getting later on in life and what I could end up passing to my
children. Knowing what disease someone could end up with, and whether or not it s a life
threatening disease, could cause problems for some people because if they know they are going to
die later on then maybe that will make them feel like they don t have a reason to try to beat it. But
then again if someone knows that the disease may kill them then maybe that will push them to take
what they have and be happy with it.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And if you find out early on what disease or illness you could get then that gives you time to
prepare. It will give people time to try and save money for treatments because that is one of the
problems many people face. If people found out before they got sick then they could start saving
money ahead of time and that could be a life saving factor because when you are trying to save up
money there is a possibility you could run out of time. Disadvantages of having your genomes
sequenced is that it could affect how people see their life. Some people might just give up
completely on it because they know that they will be getting sick and it could possibly leave to
death. Knowing what you could pass onto your children could also affect whether or not they
decide to have kids; I see this as a disadvantage because if someone knows that they could pass a life
threatening sickness to their kids then they might not see it worth it to even have

also has a consistent record of repurchasing shares totaling at an average of 1 billion dollars per each

to a weak food industry. Sales for the second half of 2015 are expected to improve. Since 2012

Culture Is The Meaning Of Culture
Culture is defined as the behaviors and beliefs characteristics of a particular social, ethnic, or age
group (dictionary.com, n.d.). Why has society seen this clearly defined word brought up in many
media disputes as of late? People are crossing the line. For years, people have been in heated debates
about cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation. Arguments have arisen in art, clothing, and
literature and whether their meanings are being exploited or celebrated. Society must find common
ground before cultureloses its essence. To choose an accurate position in the argument, one must
return to the basics of culture. Culture is mixed, it connotes the mixing from other sources. Instead
of shaming those inadvertently skewing customs, a collective consensus must be met to rid society
of stereotypes and initiate a blend of cultures. Speaking up for one s culture will prevent a world
constantly at battle and speaking up will promote one abounding in appreciation for unconventional
style. After all, diversity is far more commended than conformity. If everyone was the same, traveling
would be a lot less adventurous and exotic. Every country is proud of its culture because it has
shaped the population. The world needs a mutual understanding of each nation s customs to keep
culture divine. The act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially
without showing that one understands or respects this culture is cultural appropriation (Cambridge
Examples Of Determination In Where The Red Fern Grows
Determination is the first theme shown throughout the novel, Where The Red Fern Grows.
When Billy ordered his two dogs and went on a trip to get them, Billy used his strong
determination to brave out rude city people and get over all of the hardships in his way. I was
ready to die for my dogs. (Rawls 45 46) After Billy went to the city and collected his pups, he
went on a venture to go back home. When the night came, Billy and his dogs slept in a cave, but
then a mountain lion caught the scent of Billy s dogs and roared out into the Ozarks. Billy became
determined and protected his dogwith his life against the mountain lion. Another example of
determination in the novel, Where The Red Fern Grows is when Billy would not stop looking... Show

A blizzard with deafening roars of wind and whitening snow settled in and Billy s dogs were no
where to be found. Even though the group wanted to head back to camp, Billy kept looking for
his dogs and used determination with a little help with people from the camp to obtain his dogs
back. The theme, determination, helped Billy numerous amount of times to save someone from
getting hurt or killed in the novel. Spirituality is the next theme shared with the reader in the
novel, Where The Red Fern Grows. When Billy got home from his expedition from town, he
attempted to convince his mom that how god got him the puppies and their names. I told her
about praying for the two pups, about the magazine and the plans I had made. (Rawls 54) After
Billy came home from the trip to the town, his family and himself ate diner and asked a few
questions. Billy then went to bed and told his mother about his wondering. Billy shows
spirituality when telling his mother that he believes that god made his dogs to be in Billy s hand. I
know if god made room in heaven for all good dogs, I know he made a special place for you. (Rawls
247) When Billy buried Little Ann next to Old Dan, Billy was extremely dejected and wondered
why god let Billy s dogs die. Right before his family and himself left for town,
