Muir Transcendentalism
Oeschlaeger s Henry David Thoreau: Philosopher of the Wilderness , John Muir: Wilderness Sage
, and Aldo Leopold and the Age of Ecology from The Idea of Wilderness: From Prehistory to the
Age of Ecology focuses on the main American wilderness writers. Henry David Thoreau s wilderness
writing branches away from transcendentalismand into true appreciation of the glory of nature. His
ideas evolved through his experiences with nature over the years (136). For instance, his negative or
frightening experience on Ktaadn marked his divorce from transcendentalism (149). Thoreau was
also a supporter of environmental protection, which would continue on to influence John Muir and
Aldo Leopold. John Muir also began his wilderness writing career with

When teaching adult learners English in Taiwan (the EFL setting), I taught vocabulary, grammar,
reading skills, and structures of essays through utilizing readings deriving from the news, articles in
magazines, short fiction and non fiction, and models of essays. When teaching writing, I adopted
graphic organizers, drawings, and guiding questions to introduce components of an essay and to
develop students writing competence. Moreover, I designed courses to allow students to choose
topics that they were interested in or relevant to their daily lives for their assignments. Furthermore, I
gave mini lessons on grammar, especially when most students made similar grammatical mistakes.
Additionally, I employed Communicative Approach and selected popular topics (e.g., news, hobbies,
travel, and favorite local and exotic food) to instruct students in English speaking. For listening, I
utilized popular English songs, news videos, and excerpts from TV shows and audiobooks to
enhance their listening competence. Since I incorporated various instructional materials and adopted
different teaching methods and techniques, my students expressed that they enjoyed learning, and
their academic performance showed great achievement. Those students who were afraid to speak
English in the first class were willing to express their opinions and involved in class discussions in

Gender Discrimination Against Bank Of America
Diversity Compliance
There are many different laws set in place to provide equal fairness to the diverse workforce. Some
of those laws are Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the American s with Disability Act, the Age
Discrimination in Employment Act, and many state laws. Even with these laws, discrimination still
occurs within the workplace. This paper will investigate a case of gender discrimination against
Bank of America and what could have been done to prevent this from happening.
Calibuso et al. v. Bank of America Corp. et al.
In 2010, a group of female financial advisors filed a national class action lawsuit against Bank of
America and Merrill Lynch under gender discrimination. The main plaintiff, Judy Calibuso,
worked in the Miami, Florida office since 1995 (Lieff Cabraser Heiman Bernstein, 2010). In the
lawsuit, Bank of America is accused of favoring male brokers in merit pay, allocating client
accounts and referrals, partnership opportunities, and benefits. The plaintiffs had hoped to end the
discriminatory practices and policies and be awarded back pay from retaliatory efforts (Lieff
Cabraser Heiman Bernstein, 2010). After three years, they finally came to a settlement awarding $39
million to a possible 4,800 current and former employees (Stempel, 2013). The settlement also
provided that Bank of America needed to hire an independent contractor to oversee the
improvements of their practices and policies. Bank of America never admitted to any
How Did Hyeonseo Lee Survive In Pretty Little Liars
H: Survival of the fittest is a common phrase originating from the theory of natural selection. But
what does it take to survive? B: Hyeonseo Lee proved she was a true survivor by escaping from
North Korea, but returning to save her family. Aron Ralston displayed traits of a survivor when
his arm was pinned to a crevice wall in Blue John Canyon, yet he never stops conceiving new
ideas on how to escape. Likewise, Alison DiLaurentis and Cece Drake of the hit show Pretty
Little Liars had to survive in hiding while they, and everyone they cared about were tormented
and threatened by an anonymous being. T: Lee s courage, Ralston s cleverness, and Alison and
Cece s endurance show their audiences what it takes to be a survivor. C: In the case of Hyeonseo
Lee of North Korea, her courage showed people what a survivor looks like. E: While sharing her
story, she... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
E: In one instant, Alison watched as A , an anonymous, sadistic stalker, crashed a car into her best

at times, but she had to endure the pain so she could find out who A is and take him/her down. E:
As for Cece Drake, she had to endure in other ways. Her family didn t accept her for who she was,
or who she was turning into. Her parents checked her into Radley Sanitarium when she was a
young girl, and kept her hidden from the rest of the family. A: Cece endured all those years
without a family. When she finally escaped, she was shunned by her mother and father and had to
endure living in a place where nobody knew who she was. Finally, her strength payed off when her
sister took her in and loved her for who she was. L: Alison and Cece s strength and endurance

new evidence was presented last week showing issues with the accounting for the company. Ms.

Re:Cost Considerations Greenwise is a manufacturing plant that provides several different products
to its consumers. Greenwise is a company that is not in any way affected by any trends in the
market such as race, population, age or any other environmental concerns. Greenwise distributes
their products to households all over the country as well as globally. One of Greenwise s most
flourishing products is the solar powered watch. This memo will address the three types of costs
associated with the solar powered watch when quality considerations are made. The first suggestion

This type of computerized technology can help streamline the process of creating these watches and
will eliminate most of the errors that are created by humans with precision that is unprecedented.
. The tradeoffs would be that this technology is not inexpensive. It is in fact very expensive and
will cost this company a large amount of money. The other side of this trade off is that the
company will need not worry about defective products as this automated assembly has excellent
precision and will be assembled with little to no defects. The other trade off will be the fact that
employees will lose their jobs at the hands of this new technology as their jobs will become obsolete
because of this new robotic technology.
Greenwise currently is dealing with a large amount of damaged products that are being returned to
them by vendors and consumers because of transportation issues. By adding more employees to the
field to examine our products as they arrive at the vendors will help us determine the appropriate
packing requirements for the solar powered watch Our company can eliminate this by adding
inspection specialists in the field that will allow for inspection of the products when they arrive to
the vendor to ensure that quality is still intact when they arrive. These specialists will also help
determine the appropriate casing and packing for our shipments to ensure the utmost
The Changes of Womanhood in Marge Piercy‘s “The Secretary...
Marge Piercy s The Secretary Chant begins the poem by describing different parts of her body as
office supplies. In line one she states that My hips are a desk. In line two and three she says From
my ears hang/ chains of paper clips. (2) In line four she also continues with Rubber bands form
my hair. (3) I feel like Piercy s goal by starting off the poem in this way, was to help emphasize the
speakers frustrations toward her job right away. I also feel that by comparing the speakers body
parts to office supplies, gives the feeling that the speakeris using a form of sarcasm; which explains
how much her job is unwillingly becoming apart of her life. In line five She states My breasts are
wells of mimeograph ink . In the same time... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She complains that My head is a switchboard/ where crossed lines crackle (9). This sentence is
very interesting to me, because it is saying that her head is not only badly organized but a
switchboard as well. Comparing her head to a switchboard implies that someone besides herself is
in control of her mind. In the line where crossed lines crackle (9), proves to the reader, that her
mind consists of many different malfunctions and confusions. In the next six lines the speaker
changes it up some, it seems like her frusturation is increasing. The speaker tells the readers to Press
my fingers and in my eyes appear credit and debit. (11) I am not sure I understand what this part
means, it seems to be comparing her to a cash register, but I don t think I understand that if she is a
secretary. The next line is composed of sounds again Zing. Tinkle. (15) This again could be sounds
that she repeatedly hears over and over in her head. The next line the speaker says My navel is a
reject button. (15) This can mean that in her job she constantly has to reject people, and or be
rejected. This might be backed up by From my mouth issue canceled reams. (16) My interpretation
of this sentence is that, she is repeatedly saying issue canceled. I don t seem to have a good grasp
on what these few sentences mean. The last few lines in the poem are sentience that have been
chopped up into different lines, to help

MULITICULTURAL EDUCATION 2
Abstract
This paper explores Multicultural Educational Reform. It investigates how the current state of our
democracy urges the educator to consider the pertinence and definition of multicultural education
and how it can be achieved. It demonstrates how the knowledge of a cultural curriculum
transformation combined with understanding what constitutes multicultural curriculum can lead to
reforming a mainstream curriculum that currently caters only, or primarily, to the Eurocentric, male
centric society that laid the foundation for education. This paper will ... Show more content on

The first step in understanding the need for multicultural education reform would be setting a clear
definition of what multicultural education is. The National Association for Multicultural Education
has defined it as follows:
Multicultural education is a philosophical concept built on the ideals of freedom, justice, equality,
equity, and human dignity as acknowledged in various documents, such as the U.S. Declaration of
Independence, constitutions of South Africa and the United States, and the Universal Declaration of
Human Rights adopted by the United Nations. It affirms our need to prepare student for their
responsibilities in an interdependent world. It recognizes the role schools can play in developing the
attitudes and values
