The Role Of Hesiod s Theogony And Works
The role of Hesiod s Theogony and Works Days differ greatly. The Theogony s main function is to
catalogue the immortals and explain their origins. One of Works Day s roles is to define the author
s moral values as it relates to his feud with his brother Perses. This dichotomy reveals itself with the
conflicting versions of Prometheusand Pandora present in the two poems. In Works and Days,
Hesiod attempts to expose Perses s mistakes through the interaction of Prometheus and his brother
Epimetheus. Hesiod relates himself to Prometheus and takes great effort to portray the immortal in
a positive light. Epimetheus, who could be described as Perses surrogate, is a fool. He takes this
further by emphasizing the agency Pandora possesses in Works Days compared to the Theogony,
essentially holding his brother accountable for his actions. Also, by exploring what parts of the
myth Hesiod did not modify, we can formulate what was important to the poet. Hesiod uses Works
Days as a vehicle to instruct his listeners, especially Perses, about morals and the proper way to live,
resulting in huge modifications to the depiction of Prometheus, Epimetheus and Pandora, characters
that are also present in his earlier work, the Theogony.
According to Walcot, the conflict between Hesiod and his brother Perses is reproduced by the story
between Prometheus and his brother Epimetheus. He describes this in further detail by explaining
how both Hesiod and Prometheus gives counsel that falls
Five Main Features Of Designing A New Venue In Town
Designing a New Venue in Town
a.Description of Venue My venue is going to be used as a paintball course area. It would be located
in the area as marked by Figure 1. There is seven normal outdoor paintball fields and one giant
grassy outdoor paintball field. There is also an indoor paintball field as well. Two of the normal
fields would be covered with trees and four would be covered with grass. In my venue, there is also
a check in / rental area for people to rent out equipment and check in. There is also an ice cream
parlour in the rental area as well.
The estimated number of people using it at any given time is 40.

This helps minimize negative impact to the surface/ground water reservoirs in two different ways.
One, this reduces the risk of algal blooms in the surface waters. Algal blooms occur due to the
excess amount of nutrients in the water, causing eutrophication. Eutrophication causes huge plant
and algae growth because of the increased amount of nutrients. Then the plants and algae die and
bacteria causes the plants/algae to decompose, using up dissolved oxygen. This results in a lack of
oxygen, hypoxia and anoxia, in the water. Therefore, many organisms such as the fish die due to the
lack of dissolved oxygen in the water.
Two, this increases the potential of infiltration. Water flows from impermeable areas like buildings
to the settling pond where it can infiltrate into the ground. Rip rap is the surface cover of the water
retention pond. Rip rap creates channels for water to flow through, giving its high infiltration rate.
Even though most of the water would be drained by the drainage pipes, some would be infiltrated
into the soil.
Another water control feature is having a vegetative surface cover on the hillsides of the venue. As
seen in Figure 2, grass, a vegetative cover, covers the southern hill and trees cover the northern hill.
The vegetation stabilizes the soil, preventing erosion and gulleys. The vegetative surface cover on
the hillsides also increases the potential for infiltration. Grass has a high infiltration rate because the

Many diseases have been discovered, studied, and are diagnosed to many individuals of different
ages today. Of all individuals premature babies are prime to acquiring diseases, as their immune
system has not reached full term. Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) derives from a European literature
that help define the disease as, necrotizing meaning death of tissues, entero referring to the small
intestines, colo is the large intestine, and itis meaning inflammation.8 Necrotizing enterocolitis is the
most common and devastating disease in neonates. It is a gastrointestinal disease that affects distant

many research findings and studies available medical researchers are able to help narrow the

Infants with NEC are those 5% of infants who are most sick found in the NICU that display a large
amount of morbidity and mortality and low rate of survival. 3,13,14 Once an infant is diagnosed with
NEC there is little treatment that can differ the course of the disease. 8 The studies with NEC have

difficult, and faulty, pathogenesis is still to be proven, and no effective prevention strategy has been

years, medical investigators have to re examine epidemiologic factors involved with NEC to search
for strategies to prevent and treat the disease. 8

Nuit of the Living Dead Essay
Nuit of the Living Dead by David Sedaris
Nuit of the Living Dead written by David Sedaris, the setting in rural France leads to part of the
comedic element of this story. Reading this story very much feels like trying to follow an ADD
chipmunk. There are generally several thought patterns running simultaneously throughout the entire
thing. It s a quick, fun, charmingly quirky read. One of the most charming parts is the internal dialog
of the main character that s constantly drizzled through the entire story. It lends such a drawing part
to this story; makes it very much more captivating. About halfway into the story and it started to feel

The driver of the van struggles with a thick accent which no doubt had I been in the author s
position it would have taken a great effort to stay composed. Sometimes inappropriate, not so
politically correct humor is some of the funniest out there, which this writer realizes and dances
so delicately along the line between funny and crass. That s what makes this story so charming
for the most part. There is a line midway through that makes me snicker every single time I read it.
Either he had a speech impediment or the letter v did not exist in his native language. Whatever
the case, I wanted him to say it again. Paragraph thirty four is probably my favorite in the entire
story, the author is seeing his living room through the eyes of his guest. As he starts to scan his
living room the oddities and slightly askew parts of his life leaps out at him. He starts to feel like
he probably looks like a serial killer. It s a very funny and quirky ride through what someone picks
out with they come in a stranger s house; unconnected and unrelated things to us in our everyday
lives looks insanely intimidating and too ordered to just be chance to strangers. There seemed to be
a theme developing, and everything I saw appeared to substantiate it: the almanac of guns and
firearms suddenly prominent on the
First Confession By Jamaica Kincaid
O Connor and Kincaid In both the works of Frank O Connor and Jamaica Kincaid, the author
writes a story about a young person confronting the potential truths of their current identities and
how their childhoods will eventually influence and then shape their adulthoods. In the O Connor
story First Confession, a young boy has to deal with his first communion in the Catholic Church
and with the confession that will have to come with it. The boy fears that the sins that he has
committed will have an effect on the person that he becomes and his potential for going to
Heaven or to Hell. In the Kincaid work Girl, a child from the opposite gender also examines her
current existence and questions how what is coming now will determine the adult that she
becomes. For her, it is not a question of religion which will change the character of her life, but
her culture and the sociological implications of her gender. In both stories, a child has to
overcome the obstacles of his or her childhood in order to find the kind of adult that will come
from the youth. The narrator of First Confession is a young person who has a grandmother who has
recently come to live with her son and daughter in law. Rather than honor or appreciate his
grandmother, the narrator is quite ashamed of her, unwilling to allow his playmates to witness her
behavior because she is too much of the old country. Her actions reflect a woman who was raised
during the hardest times in Ireland and whose current
Organizational Structure And The Organization
Organizations are founded on the basis that they want to accomplish a goal. Organizations differ
from one another in various ways, and that is stated in their mission and vision statement as well as
their goals. Every organization has a set pattern that helps to establish the structure on which it will
accomplish the goal of the business. According to Prodanciuc, organizational structureis the
fundamental concept that helps the organization be organized and administrated. The organizing
takes place at the beginning of the organization s existence and it means providing everything that is
needed for it to function. It composes of three interconnected components. To begin, it is important
to make certain the economic support for the organization is appropriate, and that it is capable of
sustaining its existence. Next, the social component helps create and defined the organization s staff
and human resources. This normally has a formal structure. Meaning that there s a set of hierarchical
or pyramidal blueprint, ensuring the relationship between front line and corporate employees are
established as a stated in framework of the organization. Finally, the informational circuit is put in
place to help solidify the leadership and that information is distributed as stated in the organization s
framework (Prodanciuc, 2012).
Types of Structure
There are several organizational structures that can be used in an organization, however there some

The Rhetorical Analysis Of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
On April 28, 1963 over 200,00 Americans gathered at the Washington monument to protest
cruelty that was being spread among our country. On that day, one of the most famous speeches
of all American history was delivered. From that speech, America experienced a change that has
brought us to where we are today. In the famous, I have a dream speech proclaimed by Reverend
Martin Luther King Jr., many types of rhetoric was utilized to try and stop the racial inequality
that was occurring within our country at the time. One of the most influential and famous
Americans of all history announced this speech, most definitely allowing this address to be
trustworthy nd truthful. Besides being a well know activist, Martin Luther King Jr. was reverend
who has also had many written books. Consequently, allowing him to have had experience with
writing and how to convey an idea among people. This is evident with his use of many literary
element used. Overall, Martin Luther King Jr. was a renowned historical figure who without a
doubt can be credited to be a trustworthy source of ideas. Although MLK is credible, there can be
bias , which is understandable in the situation, in the writing of MLK Jr. s speech. This can be
viewed with the evidence of cruelty that had been brought among his fellow peers. His biased
view can be due to his claim which is that America needs to change for there to be equality of
races. This can be viewed as to persuade the Americans and possibly even to prove to the
government the wrong doing that is taking place. The most viewable fallacy that used is within
the speech is when he explains how if this country does not solve this problem, that American will
continue to be tossed around in turmoil. This fallacy can identified as a scare tactic. This is due to
the reason that MLK provides a freighting idea that could or would sway the opinion of someone.
Although his biased opinion can be due to emotion, Martin Luther King Jr. continues to provide
evidence and emotion to help better explain the situation on why America should change the ways
among the people in order to help better the people if equality was created. Besides the small
amount of bias used in this address by MLK, he continued

modern artifact stood out for me. Looking at it from a distance, it grabbed my attention with its
light translucent structure; I couldn t define the shape. In my eyes all I could see was clustered,
intersecting, free stranding lines in the middle of Plaza Nova. This installation titled Identity was
designed by Chinese based studio Urbanus, for Voltaire s Barcelonans extreme love of freedom
300th anniversary of 11 September 1714. On that date, after a thirteen month siege, the city of
Barcelona collided with French Castilian troops and it turned into a very bloody affair that involved
all sectors of the city. The sacrifices and subsequent spirit of recovery turned this date into a symbol
of the Catalan existing national entity. A colored bamboo structure in a grid installation

The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Jidoka Within A Company
Introduction:
As part of my assignment in manufacturing management I am to research the importance of
JIDOKA within a company, I will start off with a brief history of how it all came about, I will then
be looking into the practical elements of the system and why it s been used and how it s been a
huge success for the Toyota company which has catapulted them ahead of all other manufacturers.
Advantages and disadvantages will also be looked at.
Jidoka is a system where on a production line it can automatically reject any defected part from its
point of origin.
Brief History:
The word jidoka traces back to the invention of the automatic loom by Sakichi Toyoda, Founder of
the Toyota Group. It first started to be implemented on production lines in 1896, it was a device that
could shut down a particular part of a machine. This in turn prevented the machine from making

until the root cause of the defects have been identified and addressed. The principle of Jidoka has
numerous benefits to the production and manufacturing companies.
The second Advantage of Jikoda is the reduction of recall costs, due to the system set in place by a
company, you would be find the internal problem before it becomes an external problem and thus
saving money as external problems are always more costly than internal ones.
A major Dis advantage would be the setting up of the system in the first place, the company would
need to dismantle previous systems, training employees on how to use the equipment be time
Isabella as an Independent Female in Shakespeare s Measure...
It seems rare in a Shakespearean play to find a female character to whom women in this new
millennium can relate. Modern women are expected to be strong, independent, educated and
intelligent, and in control of their own destinies. Women are also considered to be on equal footing
with their male counterparts in regards to abilities, privileges, and rights. Although these ideals may
not be completely realistic in the real world, in general, these are the ways in which a twenty first
century womanis perceived. In the time period Shakespeare was writing in the abilities and roles
expected of women were very different. For women in Shakespeare s Measure for Measure, there are
extremely limited roles women can fulfill and all of them centre... Show more content on

As a nun Isabella would have little contact with men and would not be answerable to anyone other
than her female order. Isabella is unavailable to any men, even Angelo. She does not conform to
one of the roles society deems appropriate for a female. She is a virgin but has no intention of
marrying. She believes passionately in her faith and would not sacrifice her body for any sinful
reason, meaning that she would never become a prostitute. As a virgin destined to remain so the rest
of her life, Isabella falls outside of Angelo s understanding.
Even before she takes the vows Isabella does not seem to have any strong male roles directing her
life. Claudio is her only relation and she spends the duration of the play trying to rescue him rather
than the other way around. Rather than rendering her vulnerable this lack of male dominance
seems to suit Isabella quite well. She is intelligent and outspoken in her defence of her brother,
boldly contradicting Angelo on several occasions. Angelo claims there is no remedy (2.2.49) to
Claudio s sentence but Isabella does not accept this saying, Yes, I do think that you might pardon
him (2.2.50). Just ten lines later she does this again, boldly questioning what he has told her instead
of accepting Angelo s decree. Isabella even dares, in this same speech, to instruct Angelo in her
beliefs about mercy as most becoming of a person in authority: Not the king s crown, nor the
deputed sword, / The marshal s truncheon, nor the
Flight Operations Into Known Icing
Flight Operations into Known Icing

Abstract
During this research paper we will be looking into the definition of flight into known icing as it s
described by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with special emphasis on the word known
or forecasted icing as a legal requirement for both pilots and aircraft. We will look at aircraft systems
designed for such operations and we will be analyzing the misunderstanding that many pilots have
about this issue. One of the biggest misconceptions is that an aircraft equipped with deicing
equipment makes it rated for known icing conditions. We will briefly look at the regulations on
aircraft certifications and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will be focusing more on airborne anti icing as part of Aircrafts rating for flight and the known
icing conditions as defined by the FAA. While ground removal of ice is not the focus FAR 135.227
and FAR 91.527 state.
No pilot may take off an aircraft that has frost, ice, or snow adhering to any rotor blade, propeller,
windshield, stabilizing or control surface; to a power plant installation; or to an airspeed, altimeter,
rate of climb, flight attitude instrument system, or wing, except that takeoffs may be made with frost
under the wing in the area of the fuel tanks if authorized by the FAA. (FAR, 2016)
There are always exceptions to this rule including meeting training requirements of FAR 135.341 and
meeting additional criteria outlined in FAR 135.227.
There are several deferent types of ground de icing including manual removal and the use of
chemicals or solutions (some heated) to remove ice and snow or preventing ice buildup on the
aircraft during the takeoff phase of flight. This is only to protect the aircraft until the aircrafts own
anti icing equipment can become effective. Some good sources for ground deicing processes and
procedures can be found in Aeronautics Information Manual (AIM) under section 7 5 14. As well as
the FAA s Standardized International Aircraft Ground Deice Program (SIAGDP) (2010).
Defining Icing Conditions The definition of known icing conditions can be found in the (AIM, 7 1

My First Class Luc Elbowed Keen On The Side
Walking toward their first class Luc elbowed Keen in the side. Look, Shaylin is waiting for you.
Keen told the others, Go on ahead, I ll meet up with you in class , and he walked toward Shaylin
with a determined stride. Hi, we need to talk. Keen could perceive that although she was smiling
she was not happy. Yes, we should talk, but not here. Keen took her hand and lead her around the

both security and elation in my blood; however I don t feel my heart skip a beat. I asked my
