Importance Of Tattoos In The Workplace
Once viewed as taboo, it is not uncommon in today s society to see people with tattoos. From
symbolic to decorative, tattoos have infiltrated the culture and have become normalized amongst
commoners. Tattoos are no longer how people remember as a kid where they stick on and last for
a while, and there is a lot of thought and value that go into it yet alone the pain aspect. With that
being said why would one want to get a tattoo just to be told it doesn t meet the requirement of the
work field and they most cover it up? When people get new cars and decorate them or even
anything that holds value to them, they embrace and boost it so that others can see what they
take such pride in and embrace it as well; tattoos are the same way. In recent times, the debate has
been whether tattoos are appropriate for the workplace and if so, to what extent. I feel as if
tattoos should never hold any negative connotation to any desired workplace as they do not deter
away from the tools and performance skills one has to offer to a company. When asking employers
about how they feel about the appearance of tattoos, many will reply with adjectives such as
unprofessional, unethical, and improper but what they fail to realize is that professionalism lies in
the treatment of people, not the appearance of one s skin. Business will often lose clients due to the
lack of customer service skill. The quality of the employee is what increases the productivity and
development of a company. Contrary to

Business Continuity and Disaster Planning

Be Prepared
Owning a business can have many stressors day to day. When starting a business there is a lot of
planning and preparation involved. Many small businesses are owners who have put their own
money into the business and look at it as an investment. Unfortunately with all the planning that
goes into starting a business, one thing is often over looked. Most of the time the what ifs , are not
part of the planning stage. One reason for this is that people do not like to think of the bad things
that could or may happen. So with all the time and planning put into starting a business why not put
some extra thought into a plan B if a disaster strikes? This plan B could be a business continuity
plan or a disaster recovery plan. Business continuity plans are an essential part of the modern day
business. There are so many potential disasters for small businesses that could seize the production
or even close the business down for good. A recent study from Gartner Inc., found that 90% of
companies that experience data loss go out of business within two years. It also found that 80% of
company owners have not thought about how they would keep their businesses up and running if a
data disaster occurs. According to the Association of Records Managers and Administrators, about
60 percent of businesses that experience a major disaster such as a fire close
Research paper on stroke
Stroke 1
Stroke
Strokes have been around for thousands of years. Hippocrates recognized and described what we
now call strokes as the onset of sudden paralysis. In ancient times stroke was called apoplexy and
this term was applied to anyone who suddenly became struck down with paralysis. Physicians during
that time knew very little about stroke and the only thing that could be done for the condition was
to feed and care for the patient. The first person to investigate apoplexy was a Swiss scientist
named Johann Wepfer in 1620. Wepfer was the first to identify postmortem signs of bleeding in the
brain in patients that died of apoplexy. Not only did was he the first to identify the blood in the brain
of these postmortem apoplexy patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The two most at risk groups for stroke are those people with unhealthy lifestyles and the elderly.
Two thirds of all stroke victims are over the age of 65. Strokes can occur at anytime however.
Gender also plays a role in strokes. The stroke risk for men is 1.25 times higher than that of
women. Men do have a higher survival rate than women due to the life expectancy of men vs.
women. Women are generally older when they encounter a stroke (Harrar 132). Stroke also runs in
some families. Some members of a family might have a genetic predisposition for some of the risk
factors. Race is also important in determining those at risk. African Americans have almost double
the risk compared to Caucasians.
High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of stroke. As many as 50 million Americans have
high blood pressure and only 31 % know they have it. High blood pressure puts unnecessary strain
on blood vessel walls causing them to thicken and deteriorate. Smoking almost doubles your risk of
ischemic stroke and increases your risk of hemorrhagic stroke by 3.5 percent (AHA). High alcohol
content can lead to stroke.

While studies show that a small amount of alcohol can lead to a reduced risk for stroke
meanwhile large amounts of alcohol can lead to blood viscosity and high platelet levels. Using
illegal drugs can also lead to stroke. For example cocaine can act on other
Compare And Contrast Drinking And Driving While Driving
In the video, their hypothesis was that driving while on the cell phone is just as dangerous as driving
while drunk. They tested this hypothesis while driving through a course three different times under
different circumstances. The dependent variable in the experiment is how well the drivers drove
through the courses during the three trials. The independent variables in the experiment is whether
the drivers were on the phone, drunk, or neither. The three experimental conditions explored in the
experiment were drivingwhile sober without using a phone, driving while using a phone, and driving
while drunk. Based on the results of the experiment, the team concluded that driving while on the
phone is more dangerous than driving while drunk. A
Irish And World War I
Ireland has many famous pieces of poetry that reflect the rich history of the country. Many of these
classic poems were written during the period known as, The Troubles and during the events leading
up to this period. Most notably, the several failed uprisings against the British and World War I.
Irelandhas a history of being divided about who should rule the country. The division can be divided
into two groups, one group being the Unionists and, the other being the Nationalists. These two
groups are extremely different in viewpoints regarding religion and most notably opposing views on
government issues. In fact, the two groups views on government issues is what gives each group its
name. The Unionists believe in having a union with Great Britain while, the Nationalists believe in
one united Ireland without British interference. These two viewpoints have representation in classic
Irish poetry as well as the events which brought this division amongst the people. The opposing
viewpoints between the Irish peoplebefore The Troubles are expressed the best in the poems,
September 1913 by William Butler Yeats, and Ulster 1912 by Rudyard Kipling. Yeats view can be
compared to Nationalists who wanted independence from Great Britain. He even went as far as to
use his poem as a political statement to call his fellow Irish peers into action. Romantic Ireland s

Damien s Life After Death
In this week s reading of Life After Death, Damien continues his with more stories from his teenage
years and stories from jail. One quote I found interesting was in chapter eleven when Damien stated,
most people in the outside world look at you in a different way if they found out you ve spent time
in prison. They can hold it against you for the rest of your life. You re never trusted and always made
to feel like an outcast (Echols, 146). I can really relate to this quote because I know people who
experience this everyday. People automatically associate people who have been to jail with bad
people. Someone could go to jail for a white collar crime, and the stigma of jail time stays with them
forever. This just makes me so sad, but I hate
The Problem Of Criminal Behavior Among Juveniles
It is the family that prepares the child for life outside of the home. Certain lifestyles, such as,
conflict either between the parents or between the child and the parent(s) may lead to a negative
ways in the child s actions by fighting, blaming each other and avoiding responsibilities (Angenent
and de Man 1996:95). This is known to lead to the child becoming involved with gangs in an effort to
replace the relationships that is missing within their family. As this behavior continues and the child
becomes more involved with gangs the less likely they will maintain norms imposed upon them by
their family and instead engage in criminal behavior (Angenent and de Man 1996:97). Unfortunately,
this type of behavior only leads to time spent in juvenile detention. And sadly among the youths,
recidivismcontinues to be a huge problem. One could only wonder what is in place to help
decrease the repetition of criminal behavior among juveniles? In this research they examined the
provision of behavioral health services to youths detained in Indiana between 2008 and 2012 and
the impact of services on recidivism. For the purpose of the research study, they defined recidivism
as a new arrest charge within 12 months after release from a youth s first detention stay (Aalsma).
Juvenile detention centers are meant to be short term holding facilities to meet the physical and
behavioral health needs of the child. They are not to provide rehabilitation or long term treatment to
a child.
Tim Hortons Case Study
Overall, Tim Hortons current marketing plan associates heavily with the brand s iconic history
within Canadian culture during the latter half of the 20th century. Tim Hortons maintains its loyal
customers by emphasizing Canadian tradition; however, by choosing to maintain such a heavy focus
on the past, the brandmust be careful when attempting to grow in the future. The Canadian market is
rapidly shifting. Canada presently prides itself as being a melting pot where all cultures are
celebrated. To many Canadians, Tim Hortons stereotypically Canadian brand image may seem dated
or inauthentic. Furthermore, Tim Hortons is threatened by the increasing competition within the
Canadian market, and Tim Hortons numerous expansions into non Canadian markets have forced the
company to think about their methods of connecting to non Canadian consumers. Tim Hortons can
make numerous improvements to their marketingplan to avoid relying so much on a brand identity
that may slowly be losing traction within Canadian and non Canadian markets alike. First, Tim
Hortons should avoid overexpansion into non Canadian markets. Due to their success within
Canadian borders, the company may have overconfident in opening restaurants in non Canadian
locations, particularly in the United States. The company may have overestimated the value of their
product to Americans, especially considering the added competition in the American market due to
the increased presence of brandssuch as Dunkin Donuts
