Berger And Radhakrishnan Summary
Maria Diaz
Introduction to Religion PHR 120

Berger and Radhakrishnan on Religion Mindsets

In Berger and Radhakrishnan s books the multitude of religious experience one can encounter is
defined and explained through the hardships and cultural multiplicities of views that many Hindus
go through to find absolute transcendence with God, gain a higher level of religious consciousness
and how externalization, objectivities, and internalization are used as forms in society to introduce
and establish religious construction. The inconsistency of religious isolation is in the very manner of
dehumanizing a large part of the social and cultural world that we live in today because of the roots
in the fundamental wish that humans have towards creating a reality and having a world that has ...

One point that I have reached agreement with in Berger s, The Sacred Canopy: Elements of a
Sociological Theory of Religion, is how it is important for us to create a sacred reality for ourselves
and how religion, like it can alienate people, it can also de alienate people and drive them towards
more knowledge and understanding about the world around them that allows for a creation of better
choices. Berger talks about the human instinct and how we spend so little time in the womb that
we never get to truly develop this instinct to help us survive in the world. He talks about this
instinct not being prevalent in our lives to be the main cause as to why man created religion. I
believe Berger s explanation of externalization as true because in our everyday lives we are
always looking for ways to mold and shape our environment as we see fit for ourselves and in this
process we go through what Berger describes as objectivating. We as human beings learn from
teachers about what we should do to survive and how we repeat these actions over and over again in
our everyday lives through the process of externalization that
The Challenges Of Global Logistics
On Amazon s global site, people from around the world can purchase items, from clothes to toys to
food and have them shipped directly to their front door. While this can seem to be a great
opportunity, shipping logistics can be a nightmare for Amazon and take extensive amounts of time
for the buyer. One student, Xiao Bixue, from Beijing, Chinaexplained that the quality of goods from
Amazon are good, but the tariffs are expensive and shipping takes time (Bixue and Xinling). With
the differences in cultures and distance to consider, how can Amazon expect to compete globally?
The Challenges to global logistics
There are many challenges to Amazon when considering global logistics. Some processes must be
done through the U.S. Amazon website. Shipping costs can be high. And, because Amazon is
shipping products greater distances, time plays a large factor in receiving and returning products.
How to deal with these issues can be quite complex. Differences in expectations, such as quality and
price, should also be a consideration. Due to the variety of culture, how the customer should be
treated can differ as well.
Because most product descriptions and comments are written in English, non English speaking
people have a difficult time purchasing on Amazon s Global store. Only general descriptions are
translated and some translations can be confusing or completely wrong. Because Amazon has global
customers, they also have a wide variety of expectations from these customers. Areas
Building Houses For Needy Families
My grandfather gave me a hammer and nails as a small child and encouraged me to build
whatever I wanted, which began my love for building and working with my hands. This is why I
was immediately attracted to the idea of building houses for needy families through Habitat for
Humanity. Habitat for Humanity ( Habitat ) is a non profit organization that helps build homes
for people who can t afford a home on their own. Habitat for Humanity believes in building hope,
building homes and building better futures ( Habitat Cleveland County ). Habitat partners with
volunteers who share the same goals of helping others create better communities around the
world. The goal is to help families have a place they can call home. Habitat for Humanity is an
international organization that was created by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 ( The History ).
Millard was struggling in his life with what was important to him, which is what lead him to
search for a greater purpose. Therefore, Millard and his family sold all of their possessions,
donated the money and moved to a Christian community called Koinonia Farm ( The History ).
This is where his Christian faith led him to start building homes for low income people who were
trying but couldn t quite afford to build a home of their own. Millard and Koinonia Farm owner,
Clarence Jordan, developed the idea of providing housing to families with no profit and no interest
loans. With his new idea of partnership housing, Fuller and his
Ruby Mine Short Story
Ruby Mines, please come to the office. A voice said over the intercom. Even though Ruby was my
best friend, I wasn t worried. Calls down to the office are just usually minor things. That s what I
thought. But, as I was about to discover, they could also be major.
Ruby ran up to me after school that day with her face creased with worry. She explained that she
was suspected of stealing the 7th grade student files, a crime that was committed a day earlier. I
knew she never did it. She said that Lexi Marker, a girl in our grade was the one that turned her in.
Lexi was a very popular girl, but loved attention (too much), and so probably just wanted to put the
spotlight on her. I really didn t want to have to be involved in a mystery, they re ... Show more

This time I stepped in. Lizzi, I don t think it will be that easy. Your phone was reported stolen last
Thursday. Lizzi turned pale. I got a new phone. she said. Oh, but, why would you need to. Yeah!
Why would you do that when you just could go home and use your phone, since you were the one
that stole your phone. I retorted. No... she started, but stopped when Mr. Johnston glared at her.
Silence. he said. Rose, thank you. I ll talk to you later. The next half hour was Lizzi trying to get
out of confessing. Eventually, he found out that she was behind it all just because she wanted to
get Ruby kicked off the basketball team. Lizzi was so annoying! She said she didn t like how
good Ruby was because she didn t want Ruby to take her spot on the A team. This was probably
the only logical thing she ever did, although it was mean. I m sure Ruby will be a little scared
when she hears that Lizzi thought she was good enough to kick her off the team! Lizzi was forced
to hand everything over, including her spot on the basketball team, but I couldn t sit and ponder
that long. I was wondering was how long I would have to wait before telling Ruby everything.
Although, I really considered running to tell her right then, I discovered it wouldn t be worth the
trouble. Right after Lizzi was sent home for out of school suspension, I heard, Ruby Mines, please

Essay on Manhattan Project
Thesis: The research for the first Atomic bomb was done in the United States, by a group of the
best scientists; this research was given the name of amp;quot; The Manhattan Project amp;quot;. On
Monday July 16th, 1945, a countdown for the detonation of the first atomic bomb took place near
Los Alamos, New Mexico. This atomic bomb testing would forever change the meaning of war. As
the atomic bomb was detonated it sent shock waves all over the world. There was endless research
done on the bomb in the United States. The research was called amp;quot; The ManhattanEngineer
District Projectamp;quot; but it was more commonly known as quot; The Manhattan Project. quot;1

Then he went to teach at Berkley University.4 Another main person in the research project was
Enrico Fermi. Fermi was a graduate of the University of Pisa, where he received his Ph.D. Fermi
then went to the University of Rome teaching chemistry and biology. Fermi played a major role in
the development of the bomb by creating a sustained nuclear fission chain reaction, which was
critical to making the atomic bomb.4 Richard Feyman was another scientist which worked on the
atomic bomb. Feyman graduated from Princeton where he excelled in physics and other scientific
studies. Feyman s big duty on the Manhattan Project was to break big problems into smaller easier
to do problems.4 The Manhattan Project, also had to have facilities for the research and testing of
the atomic bomb. Some of the facilities built by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers included: power
stations, factories, steel works, hospitals, laboratories, and housing for everybody that worked on
the project.. Other facilities that were built for the construction of the bomb were plants to make the
radioactive material needed to construct the bomb. Oak Ridge, Tennessee was used to make
uranium which was used as an explosive to react with plutonium. The plutonium itself was made in
Hanford, Washington.5 To make this explosion possible, a piece of uranium was fired at another
piece of uranium to make the critical mass that was needed for an explosion. Critical mass is the

The Internment Of Japanese-Canada
The internment of Japanese Canadians was not only cruel but also immoral in a multitude of
ways. In the Second World War, Japanese Canadians were seen as enemies despite being mostly
naturalized or born in Canada (Suigman 52). The internment served to protect Canadian citizens
in the West Coast, however, it achieved nothing. The internment of Japanese Canadians was not
justified because the hardships faced were the result of racial prejudice as seen through the
justifications for the cruel camps, the dispossession of property and the silencing Japanese
culture for decades. The internment of Japanese Canadians was immoral because of the racist
justification leading to the poor conditions in the camps. Japanese Canadians were regarded with
suspicion during World War 2, due to the attacks at Pearl Harbour and the distrust that Caucasian
people possessed. As a result of blatant racial prejudice, symbols for Japanese Canadians of the
Second World War would consist of the stench of manure in Hastings Park, white shirts with a red
circle, lack of space, loss of privacy, one suitcase and a 24 hour notice (Suigman 63). Families
would be separated and men were prohibited from seeing their wives and children at Hastings Park
(Sunahara 50). Hastings Park was a facility where Japanese Canadians were held and where men
would later be dispersed to work at road camps (Sunahara 50). The conditions here were worse for
women. They lived in tight areas with screaming children, distraught
Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are a fictional novel by the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson first
published in London in 1886 The novel deals with the conflict between good and evil within the
human being. The psychologists are interested in it because of its accurate scientific view of what
is going on inside the human psyche from conflicts. It was immediately successful after it was
sold. It sold about 40,000 copies in the first six months of its publication And echoed to various

Types Of Silver Imolices At C-Nannowires
Fig. 1a shows the UV vis absorption spectrum of the as prepared Ag@C nanowires suspended in
deionized water, exhibiting a main peak at 386 nm and a shoulder peak at 360 nm, corresponding to
the optical finger print of silver nanowires. The absorption peak at 360 nm is attributed to the
longitudinal plasmon mode of silvernanowires and is similar to that of the bulk silver, and the
absorption peak at 386 nm is attributed to the transverse plasmon mode of silver nanowires. These
two absorption peaks suggest that pure Ag@C nanowires were successfully synthesized, and the

1c). A few functional groups such as C O, C=C, and OH were present on the surface of Ag@C
nanowires and would be useful for linking other organic molecules with diverse functions and thus
can provide good compatibility between the Ag@C nanowires and the PVDF matrix. Raman
spectroscopy and X ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were used for further confirming the
surface composition of the Ag@C nanowires. Fig. 1d shows the Raman spectrum of the as
prepared Ag@C nanowires, in which the two strong peaks at 1378 and 1597 cm 1 can be attributed
to the in plane vibrations of disordered amorphous carbon and crystalline graphite, respectively,
indicating the formation of a carbonized layer. This carbon based layer might have originated from
polymerization, aromatization, and carbonization of glucose, based on previous studies
demonstrating that the hydrothermal process enables glucose to carbonize in the temperature rage
140 160 °C. Besides the two peaks corresponding to amorphous and graphic carbon, the curve
showed one broad peak at 2935 cm 1, attributed to the asymmetric stretching vibration of CH in the
skeletal chain of glucose. A minor peak at 230 cm 1 attributed to the Ag O stretching vibrations,
confirming the coordination of glucose molecule to the Ag surface through nonbonding electrons of
the oxygen atom in the carbonyl functionality. These results unambiguously show that glucose is
carbonized and closely

HOW THE ISSUES / PROBLEMS IDENTIFIED ARE RELATED TO THE CHAPTERS OF
ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR. The first issue or problem revealed in this movie can be related
to the perception in organizational behavior. According to the McShane and Von Glinow, perception
can be define as a process of receiving information about and making sense of the world around us. It
can simply said that the process is involve the information to notice, how to categorize the
information and how to interpret it based on our existing knowledge. It begins when we receive the
information through our environmental sense. It can be illustrate based on Model of the Perceptual
Process. Selective attention means the process of attending the information that has been received
and ignoring unimportant data or information. Selective attention is influenced by the characteristics
such as the object,
Police Brutality in Anywhere, USA Essay
After our marching band s performance at a football game was cancelled because of lightning, about
six or seven of the band members (including a few student leaders) sat around shooting the breeze,
not fighting, not smoking, not drinking, not being loud. An unmarked police car rolled up and our
conversation stopped as we turned our attention to him.

In an acrid and condescending tone, the policeman pointed a finger to the exit of the parking lot and
said, Out.

Okay, just give us a moment to figure out what we can do, we replied. We wondered if Friendly s

My friend and I, both student leaders, got out of the car to address the situation.

The officer, frantic and quite enraged at his own idiocy, pointed a menacing finger at me, Let me see
your ID.

Why do want to see my ID? I asked, because I was the passenger.

Let me see your ID! he demanded. I asked why again, reminding him that it was a legitimate
question. Getting the same non answer, I started to hand him my license. He all but ripped it from
my hand.

And may I have your name? I asked. He is Detective X.

A fine representation of the Marching Knights you are! he yelled. I must have missed the meeting
that decided nothing cordial will be said by, and no questions will be asked of, an officer of the
law. Even though my parents pay him his salary, he is above acting like a decent human being.
His last name sounded familiar. I should have known better than to ask if I knew his son. The officer
s eyes widened and he yelled, You leave my family out of this! I guess that was his way of saying
yes.
As three more police cars showed up, Officer X instructed everyone to go home except for me and
my friend. He said he knew everyone had junior licenses and would be out past curfew, when
actually the only one who did was rear ended by a cop, which caused him to stay out way past
curfew (nice irony). Officer X also suggested, very rudely, that a
