The Theory Of The Scientific Method
If we understand how researchers separate fact from fiction perhaps we too can avoid some of the
pit falls of faulty reasoning and unwarranted conclusions in our everyday lives (Zimbardo, 2001). I
believe this is why scientists including psychologists think more logically rather than emotionally.
They need and/or want proof of a phenomenon and so they go looking for that proof. Until they find
an answer concerning that particular phenomenon, they will most likely not stop conducing
experiments. This is how hypotheses are formed. Someone asks a question and then figures out the
best way to get the answer to that question. It is a remarkable process. The part of that process that I
will be talking about is the hypothesis. To put it simply, a hypothesis is an educated guess; better
yet, it is a prediction. These predictions are drawn by logic and can be tested. Formulating a
hypothesis is the second step in the scientific method. If more and more hypotheses related to a
theoryturn out to be true, the theory gains in credibility (King, pg. 27). After you have formed a
hypotheses, you will need to test your predication. Depending on what the hypotheses is concerning,
you could test it in a case study, survey, or even a laboratory experiment. I hypothesized that more
men, rather than women, would say that having an affair was okay in certain circumstances. I told
my participants that the only thing they were to consider an affair was sexual intercourse only. For
What Is Erastus Smith A Hero
Erastus Smith. A admirable scout. A valuable spy. And most of all, a significant Texas hero. Better
known as Deaf Smith

Erastus Smith was born in Duchess County, New York, on April 19, 1787. He was eleven years old
when he moved to Natchez, Mississippi Territory. In his childhood, Smith had lost his hearing to an
unknown disease, which would later on give him his acclaimed nickname, Deaf Smith. Smith first
visited Texas in 1817, but didn t stay long. He returned in 1821 and settled near San Antonio, where
he found Guadalupe Ruiz Durán in 1822. In 1825, Smith helped build the town of Gonzales, which
later on he would have to burn. Smith and five other men settled on the claim of James Kerr, the
surveyor for the new colony of Dewitt, about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Travis, who considered him the bravest of the brave in the cause of Texas. Smith carried Travis letter
from the Alamo on February 15, 1836. On March 13, General Sam Houston dispatched Smith and
Henry Karnes back to San Antonio to learn the status of the Alamo. If living, Houston reported to
Thomas Jefferson Rusk, Smith would return with the truth and all important news. Smith returned
with Susanna W. and Angelina E. Dickinson. Houston first assigned Smith to the cavalry, but later
placed him in charge of recruits with the rank of captain. During the San Jacinto campaign, he
captured a Mexican courier bearing important information to Antonio López de Santa Anna. On April
21, 1836, Smith and Houston requisitioned one or more axes, with which Houston ordered Smith to
chop down Vince s Bridge, reportedly to prevent the retreat of the Mexican army. Smith
accomplished the mission and reported to Houston before the battle of San Jacinto. It was Smith that
Houston entrusted Santa Anna s orders to General Vicente Filisola to evacuate Texas. After San
Jacinto, General Rusk continued to send Smith out as a scout. After having been absent from the
army for the first two weeks of July, he was falsely reported as captured by the Mexicans. During
this period his family, rendered destitute by the war, was living in Columbia, where it had
apparently had some dealings with Santa Anna , who was being held at the nearby port of
Velasco. On November 11, 1836, the Texas Congress granted Smith the property of Ramón
Músquiz on the northeast corner of San Antonio s Military Plaza as a reward for his military
service. Nevertheless, Smith and his family stayed in Columbia. He resigned his commission in
the army, but raised and commanded a group of Texas Rangers that on February 17, 1837, defeated
a band of Mexicans at Laredo. Soon thereafter he resigned from ranger service and moved to
Richmond, where he died
The Philosophy Of Education And Education Essay
The philosophy of education is not a topic that can be fully taught and understood by reading and
studying a textbook, or a few textbooks for that matter. I believe that the philosophy of education is
somewhat subjective, rather than objective, and that there exists numerous answers to what is the
philosophy of education. I feel that one s answers can not be expressed with a single word nor a
sentence; and that one has to experience rather than just read to find the answer. Yes, a huge part of
education involves learningin a classroom, however, a lot of education is also learned through
experiences in life. We go through schooling to learn the fundamental concepts and thinking
modalities so that we can take all of this learned knowledge and apply it to and use it for the
everyday situations in our lives and in the real world. So, I believe that all people should and
deserve to go to schooland get an education that they can use for a lifetime .
The purpose of education is to teach students a wide and vast variety of things. In addition to the
obvious, education should teach knowledge of the unobvious skills and techniques: coping methods,
teamwork, how to communicate, how to get along with others, problem solving, having a conscious,
knowing right from wrong, socialization skills, life and survival skills, critical thinking, manners and
respect, acceptance for others, sharing, anger management, democracy, justice, creativity, nutrition
and healthy lifestyle
Braveheart Persuasive Speech
Imagine having the chance to fight for your country. As you remove your blade from the man
you just killed, you see one of your men getting gutted in half by the enemy, so you jolt up in a
full stride down the battlefield towards your target to carry out revenge. As you run the screams
of the wounded cloud your ears, and as you get closer you are faced with enemies hurling at you
from left and right inflicting wounds that would have any other man on their knees; nevertheless,
you are no ordinary man. You have the heart of a warrior. Finally, as you are mere strides away
from killing your target you draw your sword, and drive it into his skull. Then, with blood dripping
down your face staining your skin you remove your sword, find a new target,... Show more content

After the beheading of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce (Angus McFadyen), rode out to pay
homage to the armies of the English king, and accept his endorsement of his crown; however,
Robert ends up inspiring the Scots men to fight on. According, to Tim O Brien s How to Tell a
True War Story , war story, If you feel that some small bit of rectitude has been salvaged from the
larger waste, then you have been made the victim of a very old and terrible lie (65). Therefore,
this scene violates O Brien s paradigm of a true war story because it is uplifting. After the
beheading of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce rode out to pay homage to the armies of the
English king and accept his endorsement of his crown. The scene begins with an extreme long
shot of the Scots as they stand facing the English. In a medium shot, Craig, his advisor says,
Come. Let s get it over with. Robert looks to him agrees, and they both begin to walk their horses
towards the English men. Suddenly, the camera switches to a medium close up, and Robert yells,
Stop! You have bled with Wallace, now bleed with me! Next, the musical score in the scene
begins to get louder and louder. Hamish (Andrew Weir) looks to Robert the Bruce, removes a
sword from its carrier and throws it in the air and it lands in the middle of the battlefield. Then,
captured in an extreme long shot, the Scots synchronously begin to chant, Wallace! Lastly, Robert
and the Scots raise their swords, and charge towards the English in slow motion, as a narrator s
commentary is done by William Wallace, In the year of our Lord 1314, patriots of Scotland, starving
and outnumbered, charged the fields at Bannockburn. They fought like warrior poets. They fought
like Scotsmen. And won their freedom. First, off the scene beginning with Craig saying Come. Let s
Persuasive Essay On Healthy Food
There seems to be far too much confusion around what healthy eating really is and how to do it.
Everywhere you look there are food products being portrayed as nutritious when clearly they aren
t, we have health organisations in Australia promoting the wrong message and our sports role
models and health experts promoting foods which are still unhealthy it s any wonder society is
sicker than ever before. Did you know that 60%+ of Australians are overweight or obese and that
the main cause of death is cardiovascular disease? There appears to be a correlation between the
increase in refined, fried and fatty foods and the rise in weight gain. WHAT IS HEALTHY
EATING? Healthy eating is eating foods which infuse the digestive system with nutrients which
are used to rebuild and repair tissue as well as give the body an abundance of energy. For the
digestive system to work at optimal levels it needs to be able to secrete, digest, absorb and
defecate regularly. Foods which are ideal for the digestive system are foods which haven t been
tampered with and are still alive! Our body is alive, therefore we need to eat alive foods such as
leafy greens, vegetables and fruits, as well as nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains. These foods
are cleansing, nutrient rich and give us the most energy. WHAT ISN T HEALTHY EATING?
Eating foods which are highly processed, refined (wheat and sugar), fatty and fried, tampered with
etc... are not good for us in large doses. The body is pretty powerful
The Prophecy Of Seventy Weeks
Daniel s Prophecy of Seventy Weeks is one of the most relevant Messianic prophecies in history.
Events of the prophecy have comprehensively been discussed in Daniel 9:24 27. Many scholars
have been attracted to make their own interpretations of Daniel s Prophecy of Seventy Weeks.
Majority of these interpreters agree that the life and ministry of JesusChrist fulfills Daniel s famous
prophecy of seventy weeks. One major issue that has remained controversial is how the time frame
outlined in Daniel 9:24 27 works out to match the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Moreover, a
variety of interpretations have been given on the significance of the prophecy. Being a historical
event that took place several years back, it is very difficult to... Show more content on

Prior to writing this prophecy, Daniel was worried about the future of the people of Israel, and after
going through various books of the Bible, he managed to get an answer from the book of Jeremiah
that states that the people of Israel will soon be delivered. Basing his thoughts on Jeremiah s
writings, Daniel continued to pray for the deliverance of the people of Israel from captivity.
However, Daniel s subsequent prayers were interrupted by Gabriel who explained to him the
detailed events that characterize the future of the nation of Israel. Gabriel specifically focused on
a period of 490 years, which served to motivate Daniel to write the prophecy of the Seventy
Weeks2. While speaking to Daniel, Gabriel talks of your people and your holy city which
commonly refers to the people of Israel and the city of Jerusalem respectively (The Holy Bible). In
the better part of the prophecy, Daniel talks of the city, the many, and Jerusalem. The subject of
Daniel s Prophecy therefore could not have been anything else apart from the nation of Israel and
Jerusalem, her capital city. The purpose of Daniel s Prophecy of Seventy Weeks is documented in
verse 24 of Daniel Chapter 9 using a series of phases. One of the purposes of the prophecy as
outlined in verse 24 is to to bring transgression to
African American Negative Media Portrayal Essay
African American Negative Media Portrayal African Americans have been in the media either
positively or negatively for decades. This research will show you different types of negative media
representations and positive representations of African Americans in the media. Also a brief
interview with an African Americanman and how he feels about these issues and his own personal
experiences. This will address the problems of African American stereotypes in the media. African
American stereotypes began in the media in 1915 when D. W. Griffith s film the Birth of a Nation
came out. The film aired during reconstruction and focused on Southern fears of racial equality. The
film ultimately led to southern stereotypes of African Americans as savages. This film fueled the
lynching campaign after it aired for 44 consecutive weeks and ultimately sparked the revival of the
KKK. The media participated in a public discourse on racethat had a direct impact on the lives of
African Americans. The film also lead to more representations of African Americans in the public
world that summarized the context in which African Americans had been defined since slavery.
African American women were stereotyped in a way that dehumanized them which objectifies their
existence and that they aren t human so they deserve unfair treatment. How African Americans were
represented in the media years ago transformed into how America thought about African Americans
from the media. The idea of the Southern
