Inundation Distribution Of The Study Area
3. Methods Since the study area is surrounded by two major rivers the vast plains and fans are
suspected to contain some level water logging. For this study the inundation distribution of the
study area is taken from PNG Resource Information System (PNGRIS, 2008). The data is in
polygon shape file format and coded with classes of inundation types from tidal flooding,
permanent flooding to the least as no flooding . For this study no flooding level is excluded.
According to PNG forestry logging practices, swamp forest are not to be logged. Swampy forests
must be avoided as much as possible during logging operations. However, for this study it used to

The target class was forest class. In level 2 eight (8) classes were used (Table 1) based on the
PNG forest base map of 2012 and forest inventory mapping system (FIMS) classification
(McAlpine and Quigley, 1998). Level 2 is the lowest classification level achieved through the post
classification process. Additional classes are applied to describe the selectively harvested areas
which are identified when conducting the supervised classification of the preceding years (2000,
2005, 2010 and 2015). Above ground biomass sites will be treated as secondary training sets to
transformed LULC maps to AGB maps for carbon change assessment as one option. The other
option is to be used after the LULC goes through change detection process (spatially). Supervised
classification method was applied to Vailala Block 3 Landsat AGP images from 1995 to 2015.
This method allows the user to identify training areas that are used to teach the image on what
pixel range to be classified according to user LULC descriptions (Samanta et al., 2011). For this
study the parametric method know as maximum likelihood under the decision rule statistical
approach was used to run all the supervised classification from 1995 and 2015. Table 1. Land use

How Persuasive Techniques Can Be Important
Semester A Unit 5 Lesson 4

Introduction and Objective

A text can inform, entertain, express, or persuade, and also have different points of view. Each uses
different techniques. The best way to understand how persuasive techniques can be used to convey
a point of view is by reading examples of persuasive writing. The newspaper, particularly in the
editorials and opinion pages, is full of examples. This will not only help you keep up with current
events, it will also help you develop the language skills necessary to do persuasive writing yourself.

Today s lesson objective is: students will be able to determine an author s point of view or purpose
within a text, providing examples from the text.

Take a moment to think about this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With a persuasive text the purpose is mainly to persuade, but the author can also entertain, inform or
express something in addition to persuading. The addition of content to inform, entertain, or express
usually connects with the agenda of persuading, it adds to the persuasive strategies portion of the text.

Why does an author s purpose matter anyway? Basically, understanding the reason behind the
writing will help the reader with the understanding the information. It gets the reader s mind
focused on what he or she will be reading. For example, if you are reading a persuasive text, you will
want to read carefully and look for the facts and the opinions and decide if you agree or not agree
with the author.

If a piece of writing was written to persuade, then the author is going to use words that will
convince you to do something or change your mind. Remember, writers can use a fact, a statistic,
and logical or emotional reasoning. You may read words such as did you know that..., 9 out of 10
employees stated..., some reasons why ..., I believe that..., and many others. These words help you
to center in on what the author is trying to convince you to do or believe.

Let s look at a few examples with the key words indicating persuasion underlined:

Did you know that the Thin O Matic will help you lose pounds and inches from your body in one
short month? This remarkable machine helps you to exercise properly. If you buy now, you will also
Water Density Lab
Density is the measurement of an object that has a relative mass and is divided by a specific
volume. Mass is the amount of matter an object possesses. Volume is the amount of space of an
object occupies (solid, liquid or gas.) In chemistry the term density can be described as a physical
and intensive property of matter. The term intensive property means, it is independent on the size
and amount of a substance. Many chemist compare different types of densities of elements and
substance with water. Densitycan be either expressed as (g/mL) for liquids, (g/cm3) for solids, and
grams per liter (g/L) for gases. (Ch. 7 Notes, Dr. Binz, Lindenwood University, 2015.) The density of
water is about 1.00 g/mL. If the density of an object is less... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It can be calculated by determining the average mass and average volume of the known and unknown
zodiaq quartz. A new method that was learned from doing the experiment was being able to measure
mass and volume which later helps scientist identify a either a new complete substance or even just
an unordinary substance.
The percent error in this experiment was roughly under six percent, which was appropriate in this
experiment. One reason for high percent error was when the mass was being measured, the scale
was need to be zeroed. Once it was zeroed, the scale must be completely motionless. So the mass
of the weight could have been measure when the scale was not still, which meant it was not
accurately zeroed. The final reason for the high percent error was when the object was placed on
the weight, the table was begin to shake due to others surrounding the table. This could have created
issues, when zeroing the scale at the beginning, and when trying to find the exact mass of the object.
The table was not perfectly still, so this could have been an issue when determining the mass for each
Operant Conditioning Methods And Research
Introduction
In the article, Operant Conditioning Methods Applied to Research in Chronic Schizophrenia, a study
is described where experimenters used operant conditioning methods to analyze the behavior of non
verbal, lowly motivated, chronic psychotic patients. (Lindsley 118 119) Before this study can be
understood, a brief description of operant conditioning is necessary.
Operant conditioning was a method developed by B.F. Skinner in 1938. (121) Prior to this year,
Skinner became very interested in analyzing the behavior of laboratory animals. He put the
animal(s) in a small enclosure, free to do whatever they wanted. Within the small enclosure, there
was a device, such as a light switch, that the animal could operate by turning it on and off. Every
time the animal turned the light switch on or off, an item that would reinforce the behavior of
turning the light switch on or off, such as a piece of food, would become available to the animal.
Skinner believed that by providing a reinforcing item to the animal every time it displayed the
desired behavior of turning the light switch on an off, the animal would continuously display the
target behavior.

Research Questions
Since 1938, operant conditioning has been used extensively by many different professionals to
control many different types of behavior. In the study in this article, experimenters posed the
question, How would individuals with schizophrenia behave in an enclosed space with nothing but a

Based On An Urgency Rating Scale
based on an Urgency Rating Scale (URS). Prioritization based on other considerations has also
been proposed for situations where the risk of death is low (Hadorn, 2000). In Dolan and
Cookson s (Dolan Cookson, 2000) work the different principles of for priority setting decision
makings have been focused qualitatively (e.g. need, equity and fairness principles). However,
quantitative approaches have yet to be developed. Nagel and Lauerer (Nagel Lauerer, 2016)
comprehensively discussed the different prioritization factors in their book and MacCormick et
al. (MacCormick, et al., 2003) thoroughly discussed the different prioritization factors and their
weighing, in a review on prioritization systems of patients. The prioritization has been considered
within scheduling problem for surgical patients as well. In Testi et al. (Testi, et al., 2008) and
Valente et al. (Valente, et al., 2009) the subset of patients to be operated on among the waiting list
and their order of admission (based on the prioritization system) was introduced which were based
on both the waiting time of the patient since its referral and its urgency status. Valente et al.
(Valente, et al., 2009) developed a model to prioritize access to elective surgery on the basis of
clinical urgency and waiting time. While, Testi et al. (Testi, et al., 2008) in their research emphasized
the importance of using both urgency related groups (URGs) and scoring system for scheduling
patients admissions in an explicit and
Hammertoes Research Paper
Why Hammertoes Will Not Heal On Their Own
The feet are the foundation of the body. Often, people don t even realize how much they use and
rely on them. Nevertheless, if foot problems occur, the value of keeping feet healthy and happy is
undoubtedly becomes an understatement. One s daily life, health, and the level of participation in
enjoyable activities, can all be greatly impacted by problems of the feet.

One issue that can arise is called hammertoes. Simply judging by its name, it may be hard to take
this foot problem seriously at first. However, it s important not to be fooled. This buckling, or
curling, of the toe joints is a progressive and often painful condition.

Although in the beginning stages, the buckled joints may be flexible and not the source of much
discomfort, treatment for hammertoes from a specialist should always be sought ... Show more

Hammertoes occur due to a muscle and tendon imbalance around the joint of the toe, causing the
joint to curl and possibly become buckled in an arched position. Although this does have an aesthetic
impact of the foot s appearance, it really shouldn t viewed as a mere cosmetic concern. As a
structural deformity, hammertoes can often make walking difficult. They can also cause the
development of painful corns, and lead to other concerning foot problems.

People can get hammertoes for a variety of reasons. One leading cause is genetics. Those with
inherited foot types, such as flat feet or high arches, have feet that are less stable and are often
predisposed to develop this deformity. Other factors that can lead to hammertoes include:

Wearing Shoes That Are Too Tight/Small: footwear that puts too much pressure on the toes or
pushes them together, like pointy toed high heels, can create the joint and ligament misalignment
that causes hammertoes.
Ailments or Trauma: Those with foot nerve damage due to injury, or those who have diseases like
arthritis or diabetes, are more at risk to get
Using Security Measures For Dns
1.Introduction Over the years, the Domain Name System (DNS) has evolved as the most important
network service which connects networking resources to a private network and the internet. But
along with the rise in the importance of DNS, it has also become a vulnerable link in the internet
security as it is the internet s primary directory service used for properly traversing through the
present networking infrastructure. Even though DNS is the core fabric of the today s network,
there is no standard security framework available for DNS. Every security professional knows that
the network security measures depends upon the following three important factors [1]:
Confidentiality: It is a set of rules used for limiting the access and... Show more content on

The latest threats to DNS will be discussed here and counter measures will be suggested. It will
provide a theoretical as well as practical understanding of DNS exploitation and security. 2.
Project Overview 2.1 DNS Query There are various types DNS queries made by the client. The
most common is the mapping of Fully Qualified domain name (FQDN) to the IP address of the
FQDN. A resolver and a name server play the important role in making queries and finding the
results for queries. Sometimes, we have either only a resolver or a resolver and a name serer
working together in a computer depending upon the system we are using. There are many such
combinations but the core logic remains the same and it is as follows [2]: 1.When a command is
inserted by the user, the hostname will be needed to be translated to the IP address so that the
user will be able to access the resources at the destination site. 2.The particular application program
will call the resolver which is actually a set of library functions. (To be more specific, the
application will call gethostbyname or gethostbyaddr through API or library routines to formulate
a query for the name server.) 3.If it is a caching resolver, it will look for the result within its cache.
If the result cannot be found or if it is a stub resolver, the resolver transfers the request to the local
name server. 4.If it is not in
Essay on The Psychoanalytic Perspective on Infant Development
Sigmund Freud, the father of psychoanalysis, was the first to develop a theory of human
development with a focus on unconscious processes and instincts. Freud believed unconscious
conflicts in early childhood can determine who a person will be in adulthood. He also believed
that the mind contains three parts known as the id, ego, and superego, which govern a person s
judgment (Frank, 2013). The id, which Freud believed to be present at birth, is viewed as the
childlike part of the unconscious. It is pleasure seeking and represents a person s wants, instincts,
and drives. The ego, which is both conscious and unconscious, is the adult part of a person s mind
as well as the compromising component between the id and the supergo. It serves as a... Show more

During the latency stage of development, a person s energy is sublimated into activities such as
school, sports, and friendships. Finally, in the genital stage the person reaches adolescence and
sexual energy is focused onto others, and it is at this stage that all prior conflicts may once again
arise (Maheshwari, 2013). Freud s theory of the unconscious sparked an interest in a man named Carl
Jung. He followed Freud to America, but later began his own theories on the mind. Carl Jung was
another major traditional psychoanalyst. Jung s theory of the unconscious differs slightly than that
of Freud s in that he divided the unconscious into two parts; the personal unconscious and the
collective unconscious. The personal unconscious contains all of a person s unconscious thoughts,
ideas, and memories, including those that have been repressed. Jung believed the collective
unconscious contains an innate knowledge about ways of reacting that have been inherited by
human ancestry in what he called archetypes (Cherry, n.d.). Studies that support Jung s theory found
that there are a variety of emotions which correspond to every infant and are relevant to all cultures.
Accordingly, a well known Jungian analyst named Anthony Stevens found that attachment in
infancy is proof of archetypes by the way this characteristic can be seen across the world and all
cultures (p. 235). However, critics of Jung s theory argue that the emerging field of epigenetics puts a
Example Of Racial Discrimination
Although these reasons have some legitimacy, other issues stated such as unfamiliarity with blacks,
disdain for black culture, fear of black people, especially men, and the perception that most blacks
do not take care of their properties, feed directly into racial stereotypes based upon negative media
depictions, and long lasting narratives about the social conditions of blacks.
Many examples are given from reports by The City of Detroit Commission on Community
Relations which came out of the City of Detroit Mayor s Interracial Committee (Sugrue 30). The
Interracial Committee was started by Mayor Edward Jeffries, who was no friend of the black
community who also supported the segregation policies of neighborhood organizations, in 1943 as
a result of the Detroit race riot of June, 1943 (Sugrue 30, 69, 80 81). Documented in a report from
the Commission on Community Relations was an incident where a house was set on fire on 17th
street, and a porch was pulled from a house on Vermont Avenue, on the Lower Westside, because
blacks had tried to integrate the neighborhoods (Sugrue 240). Reflecting on how I lived a block
away on 16th street, and only a couple blocks away from Vermont was chilling, as only a few years
after these incidents occurred, my family moved in this same neighborhood. Incidents such as the
above example reflect the reticence and sometimes outright fight against blacks integrating white
predominately neighborhoods.

Effects Of World War One On Europe
Kegan Navarre Mrs.Martinez ELA IV 4th Hour May 2, 2016 The Effects of World War One on
Europe In the early twentieth century, the most powerful nations in the world were preparing for
war with a heightened sense of national pride. Germany, eager to go to war, created arguably the
greatest military in the world at the time. This heightened militarism in Germany had two major
reactions from other world powers. The first was to build up their respective militaries in order to
prepare for a war if it became necessary. The second was to create a system of alliances in case
they were attacked. The series of alliances led to the formation of two powerful groups. The first
was known as the Central Powers consisting of Germany, Bulgaria, Austria Hungary, and the
Ottoman Empire. The second was the Allied Powers which included England, France, Russia, and
Italy. Then on June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated by Gavrilo
Princip. After the assassination, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. The series of alliances
created prior to the assassination led to many European countries declaring war on one another in
order to protect their allies. Because of imperialism of Africa in the ninteenth century and a
growing US involvement in European affairs, the war spread throughout the entire world. The
Great War, later named World War One would go on for four long years with roughly twenty
million casualties before a cease fire in 1918. On June 28, 1919

Examination And Examination Of The Anterior Cruciate Ligament
Health History: A 25 year old male injured his left knee in a recent skiing accident. The patient
stated that he lost his balance because the inner edge of his right ski got caught while skiing. This
resulted in the right leg being externally rotated followed by and audible pop as he lost footing. By
evening, the right kneejoint had become swollen, causing intense pain. The primary care physician
referred the case to an orthopedist.

Presentation and Examination: The knee anterior drawer test is a commonly used during orthopedic
examinations to evaluate the integrity of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The test is conducted
with the patient supine; hips and knees are flexed at a 45 and 90 degree angles with feet flat on the
table. While holding the calf distal to the knee joint pulling suddenly away from the patient tests the
anterior drawer while pushing back tests the posterior drawer. In this case, the positive anterior
drawer test indicated ACL damage.

Diagnosis: Results from the orthopedic exam indicated two torn ligaments. The medial collateral
ligament (MCL), which originates at the medial femoral epicondyle and inserts at the periosteum of
proximal tibia, deep to the pes anserine and the ACL which originates on the Lateral wall of the
intercondylar notch at its posterior aspect and inserts at the anterior aspect of the tibial plateau
between the tibial eminences. As well, a medial meniscal injury was considered likely.
