The Effect Of Foam Rolling On Decreasing Delayed Onset...
The following study Foam Rolling for Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness and Recovery of Dynamic
Performance Measures performed by Pearcey et.al studied the effectiveness of foam rolling on
decreasing delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS). DOMS can contribute greatly to the
discomfort that a physically active person experiences after an intense workout. According to
Pearcey et. al (2015) the intensity of DOMS increases within the first twenty four hours post
exercise, peaks between forty eight and seventy two hours, and subsides and eventually disappears
in five to seven days. The study was conducted using eight men in their early twenties. The study
used a repeated measure design method to test the effectiveness of foam rolling the muscles of the
lower extremities. The study tested the following variables, pressure pain threshold of the quads,
thirty meter sprint speed, broad jump distance, change of direction speed, and dynamic strength
endurance after preforming the DOMS protocol. The DOMS protocol consist of 10x10 squats. All
participants in the study were both the experimental and control groups. The sessions were separated
by four weeks; the sessions were randomly assigned to the participants. The testing sessions included
an orientation with 1RM squat and practice of each test, followed by four conditions four weeks
apart. The participants warmed up on the cycle ergometer then completed the DOMS protocol. Data
was analyzed using magnitude based inferences. Baker et.al

Battle Of Berlin Essay
The Battle of Berlin started in the spring of 1945 during the last days of World War II and lasted
until May 2, 1945.This battle was one of the most impactful battles of the World War II. The Battle
of Berlin was designated the Berlin Strategic Offensive Operation by the Soviet Union, It was the
finals offense of the European Theatre of World War II. The Battle resulted in many victims from
militaries and local population.
The battle was fought between German Army and the Soviet Army. The Soviet Army outnumbers
the Germans. The Soviet Army had 2,500,000 soldiers, 7,500 aircrafts, and 6,250 tanks. On the
other hand the Germans didn t have as much help as the Soviet Army did. The Germans had
1,000,000 solders, 2,200 aircraft, and 1,500 tanks. Both Army s had their own commanders. The
Soviet Army commander was Georgy Zhukov but there were commanders under him such as Vasily
Chuikov and Ivan Konev. On the German side their commander was Adolf Hitler and the
commander under him was Gotthand Heinrici and Helmuth Reymann. Heinrici was one of Germany
s premier defensive generals that was elected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was the three country battle to win Berlin coming from east, west and north. The Soviets came
from the east and south side of Berlin since they planned to damage the country and at the moment
the Red Army of the Western Allies were beginning to move to the west side of Berlin. Red Army,
Russian Krasnaya Armiya, Soviet army created by the Communist government after the Bolshevik
Revolution of 1917. The name Red Army was abandoned in 1946. Adolf Hitler was in Berlin at
this time and his movement slowly stopped, he tried to decide on a plan to win the war. The Soviets
wreaked revenge on Germany. The United States chose not to participate in what became a horrific
slaughter of both German soldiers and civilians. ( Hutchinson,
Theu.s. Constitution Vs. The Constitution
The U.S Constitution was written by James Madison and was ratified on July 21, 1788. Ever since
people had trouble determining how it should be interpreted. When judges interpret the constitution,
they are interpreting new facts to an established law that has been given meaning and has a historical
background. Many people argue that it should be read how it was written who are known as
Originalists. Then there are people who believe that the Constitutionevolves as society does and they
are known as Living Constitutionalists. Also, some feel that the goal is not do determine whether
the constitution should be determined originally or as a living document, but to give meaning on the
basis of facts. In my paper I will discuss arguments on how the Constitution should be read, whether
it be from the Originalists or the Living Constitutionalist s point of view, and why Living
Constitutionalism is better. As society evolves, there are new and more difficult problems that occur,
and they cannot be solved by reading the exact text of the Constitution which makes Living
Constitutionalism better. According to Meese Their intention was to write a document not just for
their times, but for posterity. (Meese 15) Living Constitutionalists might say this is a very bold
statement. This quote basically means that the Framers were trying to create a document that would
address future and present problems. A common question that is asked is what did the Framers mean
and want for the
A Man Who Was Almost A Man
In the story A Man Who Was Almost a Man , was basically about a 17 year old boy who referred
to himself as a man. The title of the story in today s view would mean being 17 almost 18, so you
can do what you want. I believe when it came to Dave, he often referenced himself to other men
around, saying he could do anything they can do. Dave s feeling of wanting a gun, was to show the
other men who were around that they cannot just treat him anyway. The gun was a symbolization of
being masculine, firm, and showing that he was not weak.
In my opinion, all the other men in the story would be qualified as men, except for Dave. If he had
not tried to use the gun to show that he was strong, then that would have qualified him to be more of
a man.
Ottoman Empire Dbq
century in which Europeans embarked on extensive overseas expeditions. European nations, such as
Portugal, Spain, England, and the Netherlands, participated heavily in global trade and set up many
trade colonies and routes. Many people will say that the European s only reason for exploration was
to spread Christianity, obtain gold, and gain glory through their conquests and acquisition of lands.
Some people might also say that the Ottomans heavily influenced the Europeans to participate in this
period of exploration. Although the goals of God, gold, and glory are often associated with the Age
of Exploration, the Ottoman Empire had a greater influence on the desire of European states to
establish overseas empires and employ mercantilist economy... Show more content on

The Europeans were greatly intimidated by the Ottoman s increasingly strong and powerful army. As
a result, they wanted to cut off trade with the Ottomans in order to prevent them from becoming too
wealthy and powerful. Many of the European nations feared that the Ottomans would be powerful
enough to conquer more European nations, similar to how they brought down the Byzantine Empire
by conquering Constantinople. The Europeans fears came from seeing the ease at which the
Ottoman Empire was able to achieve military victories. They believed that the Ottoman armies
would cause the political and social infrastructure of Europe to crumble along with Christendom. The
Europeans concerns about the Ottoman s armies can be seen in the document, The Turkish Letters of
Ogier Ghislain de Busbeq. Ogier Ghislain de Busbeq traveled to Istanbul in 1555 as a diplomat of
Hungary and Bohemia. In the document, he comments on the state, society, customs, and military
forces of the Ottoman Empire. He writes, I tremble when I think of what the future must bring when
I compare the Turkish system with our own. On their side are the resources of a mighty empire,
strength unimpaired, experience and practice in fighting, a veterinary soldiery, habituation to victory,
endurance of toil, unity, order, discipline, frugality, and watchfulness. The Ottoman Empire,
undoubtedly, made many nations fear

Why Is Audie Murphy Considered A Modern Day Hero
There were many war heroes in WW2 but there is one that stands out the most from the Allied
invasion of Sicily to D day he served his country. Audie murphy made a lasting impression on the
world with everything that he did in his 18 month career. With all his medals that he won and war
stories it s no surprise that some consider the greatest american soldier of all time. Audie Murphy
should be considered a modern day hero.

First of all Audie Murphy is one of the most recognized WW2 names because of his courageous. He
shows courageousness by defeating many opposing forces during the war and afterwards. In an
engagement with German infantry reinforced with tanks, Murphy ordered his men to the safety of
trees to the rear while he called in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He inspired a lot of people to good things and a lot in his name that were dedicated. As a result of
legislation introduced by U.S. Congressman Olin Teague five months after Murphy s death in
1971, the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital in San Antonio, now a part of the South Texas
Veterans Health Care System, was dedicated in 1973 (american.history). As a result of all the
good that he did for the war the built a VA hospital in his name. This is amazing because, if you
ask any veteran who Mr. murphy is they all know. All because of stuff like this also that kids are
learning about his life also. Audie never let the thought of others go over his head he always put
others thought before his own. In an effort to draw attention to the problems of returning Korean
War and Vietnam War veterans, Murphy spoke out candidly about his own problems with
posttraumatic stress disorder (nashua telegraph). Even with his own battles with PTSD he still
made it a priority to talk to people about it and make awareness for it. He helped millions of people
struggling with PTSD get help and be treated.

Audie murphy is the most decorated soldier of all time and of WW2. Yet not many people know
who he is. He shows many valued traits in a soldier such as a leader, an inspiration, he s fearless,
and many more. Audie Murphy should be considered a modern day hero. He was an amazing
person and leader and has a
Stereotypes In Society Today
Stereotypes have an important role in society today. According to the textbook stereotyping is
overgeneralizations of characteristics to large human groups. Stereotypes can be very simple or
complex on which people the stereotypes apply to just based on their appearance, behavior and
beliefs. Stereotypes can be found anywhere you go or in what you watch. Some mediatries to have
hardly any stereotypes but, they are there just not obvious. Though people are trying to get past the
barrier of stereotypes, in many ways it seems almost impossible to remove it from the world.
Stereotypes have been around for a long time in our everyday life alone and with media now,
stereotypes about religion, politics and even other media can spread incredibly
Limitless
The movie Limitless directed by Neil Burger is a story of a man, Eddie Morra, who discovers a
new drug on the illegal drug market. This drug is called NZT and it functions by allowing the
usage of all parts of the brain at one time. The most emergent social problem displayed in the film is
drug abuse. The National Institute of Drug Abusedescribes drug abuse as being a major public
health problem that impacts society on multiple levels. Through metaphors and examples Limitless
exhibites the numerous impacts this social problem has on society. Drugs can sometimes be
abused in order for people to get away from their real life problems such as unemployment,
loneliness, and poverty. The beginning of this film displays Eddie Morra as a poverty... Show more

This willingness is seen more when the drug abuser is highly addicted to the drug or experiencing
withdraw symptoms. In the beginning of the movie when Eddie Morra was willing to go pick up
breakfast and laundry from the dry cleaners in order to get more of the drug from his ex brother
in law. This example demonstrates the willingness a drug abuser may have to do an unpleasant
act without the direct association of crime. Another example includes Eddie acting in an insane
act in order to receive more of NZT so that he would not die from the withdraws he has been
having. This is when he drinks the blood of a person who had just injected himself with NZT in
order for Eddie to get enough NZT to out smart the men who were aiming to kill him. When
Eddie Morra comes back from running errands he discovers the apartment a wreck and the body
of his ex brother in law with a bullet in his head. Eddie Morra came to the conclusion that the
murder must have been looking for the drugs his ex brother in law let him try, and began to
scavenge through the apartment as well. This example of murder exhibits an extreme behavior that
drug abusers may participate in when they are desperate for more of a drug. Another example of
crime in the movie that is directly associated with the desire for more drugs was
Summary Of Descartes On The Mind-Body Distinction

Short Paper Assignment
Descartes on the Mind Body Distinction In the Sixth Mediation, Descartes advances a compact
argument for the idea that the mind and the body are distinct (2006, AT 78). In this essay, I m going
to present what I take Descartes argument to be, and very briefly evaluate it afterwards.
Descartes starts with the thought the we can understand, at least, something, and we can understand
something in a specific manner: clearly and distinctly; we can t be wrong, according to Descartes,
about things we understand clearly and distinctly (Mediation Four, AT 59). Similarly, if we can
clearly and distinctly understand a thing in a way that does not appeal to or depend on another thing,
then we can t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the one hand, the body is supposed to be a sort of thing that has extensions: it has shapes, it has
size, it occupies certain spatial position, and it can be in rest or in motion (AT 43, 78). On the other
hand, from previous meditations, Descartes concludes that I am only a thinking thing from the
observation that thinking is what could survive even if there were an all power deceiving God (AT
27). And here, the I can be understood in terms of the mind that does not include a corporeal body
since Descartes was meditating as if he didn t even have a body (AT 27). Thus, it seems that we can
understand the mind and the body clearly and distinctly from each other in that the mind is a
thinking thing and not an extended thing, whereas the body an extended thing and not a thinking
thing. In other words,
6. The body and the mind are understood clearly and distinctly in a way that does not depend on
each other.
Once this is secured, by a series of modus ponens, it follows that
7. Therefore, the mind and the body are really distinct.
As far as I m concerned, the logic of the argument looks intact, but I do not find the second premise
very convincing, which says if two things can be separated (in practice), then they are really
distinct. Instead, perhaps in order for two things to be really distinct, it s not only sufficient (albeit
necessary) that they can be separated in
Unemployment And The Rate Of Inflation
Unemployment and the rate of Inflation are two main problems faced by most economies around
the world. Lower rates of each are sought after in order to create and maintain a more stable
economy. Unemployment rate can be officially defined as a measure of the prevalence of
unemployment and it is calculated as a percentage by dividing the number of unemployed
individuals by all individuals currently in the labour force. The inflationrate is the percentage rate of
change of a price index over time. The Retail Prices Index is also a measure of inflation that is
commonly used in the United Kingdom. It is broader than the CPI and contains a larger basket of
goods and services.

By obtaining data for two countries, UK and France, on unemployment rate and CPI, which allowed
me to calculate inflation rate and then further the change in inflation rate, I have been able to
construct the table above. This table clearly shows the comparison between the two countries
between the time period of 1970 2013. From this table I am able to create graphs to represent the
data in an aesthetically pleasing format a picture says a thousand words. Firstly I will begin by
discussing the unemployment rate graph.

This line graph represents the comparison of the changes of unemployment rate data from 1970
2013 for the countries France and United Kingdom. At 1970 France s unemployment rate remains
consistent for 4 years while the UK s rises slightly however generally during the 1970s the
