Stroke Risk Factors That Cause Death And Adult...
Stroke is defined as a focal neurological impairment of sudden onset, lasting more than 24 hours,
with the possibility of death. Strokes are the third leading cause of death and adult neurological
disability. A few factors that could trigger a stroke include age, race, obesity and hypertension.
Genetics are a huge factor when it comes to stroke. As stated by John Francis, Studies have shown
that genetic factors account for 50% of strokes. High bloodpressure, heart disease, vascular
conditions and diabetes are all stroke risk factors that family history play a part of. FDA.gov
states that children with parents, grandparents, sisters or brothers who have had a stroke by the
age of 65 are at greater risk of having one themselves. They are more common in men than they
are in women, approximately 62% more women die from a stroke than men said my Dr. James
Faber. A mother s stroke will strongly effect their daughter, a father s stroke is likely to impact
both their sons and/or daughter equally. From birth, your genetic make up is already fixed. Stroke
is like a notch that s hidden within the body that plays a role in call fate and development. This
notch also has a huge impact on the arteries and blood vessels in the brain. The blood supply to the
brain comes from four blood vessel, the left and right carotid arteries, and the left and right
vertebrobasilar arteries. Depending on how strong the stroke notch is in your family will help
determine if one minor

Reality of War in Crane s War is Kind and Tennyson s Charge of the Light Brigade

An overwhelming tendency to fight and battle has plagued humankind since the dawn of the written
word. Countless wars have been fought since the dawn of man and most times such conflict exists
simply for its own sake with no productive end. Immense human suffering and death can be caused
by conflicts that hold little logical justification. Since the birth of the written word, criticism and
discussion have persistently followed the topic of war. In exposing the grim reality of war, two works
of literature stand out as being both vivid and compelling. Through similar uses of graphic imagery
and forceful diction, both Stephen Crane in his Do Not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
None of them wished to die, but many would inevitably rest on a field where a thousand copses
lie (11). Crane next describes a father who raged at his breast, gulped and died (14) to further
highlight the pain of death and loss caused by a war. Just as the woman lost her lover, a child lost
her father and neither man died willingly or peacefully. Both men rather struggled and raged against
death. Through such graphic imagery, Crane shows the reader a glimpse of the pain inherent in war.

In addition to imagery, Crane skillfully juxtaposes two contrasting words to mock society s
perception of war. In the best example of this juxtaposition, Crane echoes his title war is kind to
defame war through sarcasm. The virtue of slaughter and the excellence of killing further belittle
war s grandeur. Such contrasting phrases create a tone of acerbity in the poem, as Crane mocks the
glory in war that so many younger, more innocent minds admire. Through conveying the fact that
there exists neither virtue in slaughter nor excellence in killing, Crane affirms that war has no
bright side and glory is a foolish goal. Crane s word choice adds greatly to the bitter taste of his
poem.

Crane emphasizes his distaste for war through a repeated, continuous use of sarcasm. The man who
wrote it was profoundly weary with war (Lowell 2). Crane creates the image of a horse running off
while its fallen rider lies on the battlefield dying, and then states that
What Is Harvey Kusak Assassination
Aside from the Single Bullet Theory, the Warren Commission also declared that Lee Harvey
Oswald conducted the assassination alone. Shortly after the assassination, some witnesses on Elm
Street as well as the employees of the Texas School Book Depository informed the police officers
on the site that they thought the short came from the sixth floor of the building. The police soon
found a rifle and three bullet shells in one of the rooms on this floor. One witness, Howard
Brennan, even provided the police officers with a description of who he thought the assassin was.
According to Brennan, the man he described held a rifle out of a corner window on the sixth floor
of the building around the time the assassination occurred. The police officers
Deporting Illegal Immigrants
Deporting illegal immigrants is not going to help the United states economy by any means, in fact,
there would be no positive factors when it comes to impacting the economy. Some people may
assume that illegal immigrants in the United States are not very well educated individuals, but that
is not the case at all. Ryan Edwards, an author of the National Bureau of EconomicsResearch, states,
they re highly trained, highly paid professionals, so their removal has a pretty large effect.
(Ehrenfreund) Not only do they help the United Stateseconomy, but they play a huge role in it as
well. The National Bureau did a study one year ago and they found, Immigrants living illegally in the
United States account for roughly 18 percent of employment
Social Class Differences In American Culture
In American culture, most parents would say that they are doing a satisfactory job at raising their
children; yet, each family raise their children so differently. The differences are clearly seen when
compared by class.
In the upper classes (high class to upper middle class), children are given hundreds of learning
opportunities and are taught to value education at a much earlier age. They are put into expensive
day cares that require competitive applications, after school art and sport programs, and enrichment
clubs that ensure they are building a foundation that will prepare them for success. These enriching
opportunities are only feasible because parents from the upper class have the money and the time to
pour into their children, which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ascribed position is defined as an assignment to a group by a charismatic that can not be changed
or is defined at birth, such as race or gender, whereas ascribed is defined as an assignment to a
group based on achievement or personal experiences and talents, such as political views or
education status. In this case, economic standing can be placed int eh ascribed category as it is a
cultural standings that children are born into and can affect their life chances and opportunities.
Therefore, it is socially interesting how the differing child rearing techniques, which are influenced
by cultural values are manifesting and influencing the children s later achieved statuses. The lower
classes lack of enrichment practices may lead children to follow a certain political party more than
another one, or prevent an social mobility into another economic class. Comparatively, the upper
classes early pressure of the importance of enrichment and education may influence children s future

Modeling And Delay Analysis Of Wireless Home
Modelling and Delay Analysis of Wireless Home Area Networks in a Smart Grid Abdulfattah

Abstract Smart grids are networks composed of several interconnected layers. The lowest layer
consists of the Home Area Network (HAN), in which a set of Electrical Devices (EDs) communicate
with a mesh client. This client then communicates with the mesh router of the wireless mesh
network. EDs generate critical information packets, and these must be passed to a control station
with minimal delay. In this paper, the modelling and delay of HANs is considered under several
architectures for the communication of critical information packets to mesh clients. Bounds on
achievable delay are derived as a function of the signal to noise ratio, number of electrical devices,
number of channels, and channel interference range. We find that transmitting critical reports under
a time division multiple access scheme suffers less delay than other schemes. I. INTRODUCTION
The main challenge in communication network architecture is to develop a model that can cope
with power grid issues. These issues include high consumer demand, economic balancing of power
generation technologies, and responding to devices that are remote from the
Workplace Wellness Essay
INTRODUCTION
Health and wellness in the workplace is crucial to business success. Increasingly, it is recognized
that the workplace itself has a powerful affect on people s health. When people are satisfied with
their job, they are more productive and tend to be healthier. When employees feel that the
environment at work is negative, they feel stressed. Stress has a large impact on employee mental
and physical health, and in turn, on productivity. Companies that promote healthy lifestyle habits for
employees to improve their health, often take the success of the company to heart and are likely to
be absent less often for health related reasons.
Employers are now offering a wide range of wellness initiatives; such as health risk ... Show more

Employee Health and Wellness Are Suffering:
Less than one third of employees (28%) today say their overall health is excellent a significant
decline of 6% from 2002.
41% of employees report experiencing three or more indicators of stress sometimes, often or very
often, which is a significant increase from 2002.
Work life conflict increasing, especially for men.
One in three employees experiences one or more symptoms of clinical depression.
49% of employees have not engaged in regular physical exercise in the last 30 days.
One in four smokes.
While little changed since 2002, 27% of employees still experience some kind of sleep problem that
affected their job performance within the last month at least sometimes.
Nearly two out of three employed individuals (62%) are overweight or obese.
8% of employees have no health insurance from any source, with low wage/low income employees
less likely to have access and least likely to use even if they do have access.

There are a vast number of types of workplace wellness programs. In general, workplace wellness
programs encourage people to take steps to prevent the onset or worsening of a health condition or
sickness and to adopt lifestyles that are healthier. Businesses may implement many types of
workplace wellness programs, from onsite gyms to simple workplace wellness newsletters. While
some corporations have instituted very comprehensive workplace wellness
Leap Of The Brethren Pantry Summary
Least of the Brethren is a local food pantry in Pinkneyville, it is where I am choosing to plunge for
my assignment. I am choosing this culture because of the high number of low socioeconomic
students that attend school in our area. I feel it is important to understand the needs in our area in
order to connect with future students and their families. To be very honest, I know there is a great
needfor support in our area. However, I assume the families that need this support also receive
government assistance through programs such as WIC and Link. Plunging into this culture I hope
to gain a better understanding of why pantries are still needed and how I can become more active in
addressing the need locally. With the knowledge I hope to gain... Show more content on

During the break the volunteers asked us several questions. From what I gathered all of the
volunteers also need the assistance of the pantry. Many asked us how they could help us, assuming
we had fallen on hard times. I assured them they we were just there to help them and donate our
time. Volunteers receive each goods in their boxes in return for their help.
Application of Plunge Experience Prior to taking the plunge I was not aware that even with
government programs there is still a need for pantries in our local area. This brings a very large
challenge to my educational environment. I will need to find out which students will require this
need to be addressed. As a classroom teacher, I will need to bring awareness to the students that do
not have this need that a part of their role in our community is to help those in need. This can be
done through volunteering and donations.
The challenge that individuals from the group will bring to the education environment is one that
directly impact their learning. It is well understood that children cannot learn until their most basic
needs are met. Yes, we offer free breakfast to students, but many arrive too late to receive this
service and often one muffin is not enough to address their hunger. This plunge made me aware of
the challenges many students will face in my
A Typical Government Classroom Within Virginia...
A typical Government classroom in Virginia incorporates a multitude of different personalities and
learning styles. This classroom is not much different. There are the typical four walls, windows for
daydreaming, a white board, and a projection screen. Inside this classroom is where magic begins
to happen and children begin to blossom and prepare for life as an adult. Children become aware of
their surroundings both in school and as a citizen of not only the United States, but the World.
Relationships are created and nurtured to attempt to propel students to the next level of learning, yet
a fact remains. Some students are still failing to succeed at making the connections between concepts
and reality that is required to be an integral... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The classroom also contains a technology cart filled with 30 MacBook Pro laptops for student use.
In the back of the classroom is a bulletin board that illustrates different major concepts and
relationships of current material to the overall concepts of democracy. On the wall, an observer
would find a Classroom Constitution. This lays the foundation of behavioral expectations. Liberty
High School also participates in a Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports system which is a
system to encourage and reward positive behaviors as well as provide systematic consequences for
poor behaviors. The classroom management in the classroom is a four step approach that begins
with verbal redirection, then proceeds with a warning to cease inappropriate activity, followed by
removal from activity and parent contact, then an office discipline referral if all other measures fail
to end negative behaviors. Overall, students show respect to the instructor, and work on assignments
and activities with only minor behavioral issues.
Student Characteristics Three students were chosen out of a group of nineteen students with a wide
range of ability. Twenty six percent of the class receives special education services, while sixteen
percent of the class is gifted. This leaves fifty eight percent of the students in the government class
on an average level of academic
Hopelessness In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Of Mice and Men teaches a grim lesson on the difficulties of migrant workers in the era of the
Great Depression. Loneliness. Isolation. Hopelessness. Three of the strongest factors Steinbeck
explores about the nature of human existence, and the impossibility of the American dream.
Steinbeck illustrates the loneliness of migrant workers in the early 1930 s and shows how people
are eager to try and find friendship in order to escape from their loneliness, and focus on
something other than their unrealistic dreams. At one point in time, nearly all the characters in the
novel have admitted to being lonely and have vulnerably shared their hopes and dreams with
another person at the ranch. To begin, the main characters (George and Lennie) travel together
everywhere and never leave each other s side. The other men envy what George and Lennie have
a friendship. Many question why George always sticks with Lennie and never leaves him,
regardless of his mental disability. The answer is simple. They have built a dependency towards
each other, and all they have is each other. They both believe in the dream of one day having a
ranch, crops, and rabbits to tend to.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Case Analysis For The Project Delivery Essay
Case Analysis for the Project Delivery
Successful Case Introduction
The information in the following sections is derived from: Loulakis, M. C. and McLaughlin, L.
(2009). Government Found Liable for Delays in Design/ Build Project. Civil Engineering, Vol. (79).
p96 96. 1p.
Design build projects are one of the simplest projects in the construction industry which is leading to
more contractors and companies using the design build project delivery. The projects have less
contractual paperwork and decrease the executed construction time for the project.
Additionally, design build is a common use for construction project which makes this project
delivery one of the best project delivery methods for a construction process. Some projects are
complicated, but a single contract makes it less complicated due to less paperwork involved in the
contract.
The following project is a successful construction project in which the government was found liable
in the design build project that incorporated a fast track system also (Loulakis McLaughlin, 2009).
Fast track systems are projects in which the full design of the project is not completed before the
execution phase begins for the project. Many projects that have design build project deliveries join
the fast track since there is only one company and one owner involved in the construction of the
project.
ADT Construction Group Inc. was the construction company involved in the 2003 project for the

Similarities Between 1984 And Vonnegut
In the novels, 1984 by George Orwell and Slaughterhouse five by Kurt Vonnegut the writers use
narrative disruption to convey the meaning of their story. Although Orwell and Vonnegut use the
narrative disruption in different manners they both cause the reader to deviate from a certain trains
of thoughts. Orwell and Vonnegut use foreshadowing, change in narrative pace, and shift in dialogue
to display narrative disruption that causes the reader to gain a deeper understanding of the character.
Vonnegut uses narrative disruption much more directly and in an obvious manner since Billy
Pilgrim travels in time causing him to shift from one story to another. While Orwell uses it more
subtly to depict changes in mood and thought. In 1985, Winston... Show more content on

In 1984, when Winston is writing in his journal he seems to be frantically spilling out all his
thoughts and ideas. This causes the illusion that time is going by faster. The shift in narrative
pace is seen in this sentence, His small but childish handwriting straggled up and down the page,
shedding first its capital letters and finally even its full stops: April 4th 1984. Last night to the
flicks. All war films. One very good one of a ship full of refugees being bombed somewhere in the
Mediterranean... (1984, p 11) The narrative shifts from third person to first person when he writes
in his journal. When he is first writing in the journal it s almost as if he has so many thoughts he
can t write them all down in the amount of time; he writes snippets of what his mind is thinking.
The narrative pace also appears to go faster when he is writing in his journal or when he is
committing crimes against the party because he is enjoying it and things seem to go by faster.
When Winston is working with tedious things time goes extremely slow because it is unfulfilling
and draining to participate in conversations with Parson. Time in the cell seems to go on for
eternity, but he is not sure how much time has passed. The narrative pace in Slaughterhouse five
goes slower in order to create a miserable setting in the novel. He had never had an old gang, old
sweethearts and pals, but he missed one anyway,
