John Donne
John Donne is the name in English Literature who gave new direction to the literary activities of
his age. He is in a sense founded the metaphysical lyric, which was practiced by scare of writers. As
Dowden says, We are told that in the decline of the greater poetry of the Elizabethan period, a
metaphysical school arose and that John Donnewas the founder or the first eminent member of this
school. John Donne set up a new tradition in versification by and large Donne must be regarded as
an original poet, a poet who gave much more than what he borrowed from his age. The word
metaphysical has been defined by various writers differently. The learned critics feels that
metaphysical poetry is inspired by a philosophy,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then comes a conceit which also expresses the passion of the lovers:
SHE S ALL STATES, AND ALL PRINCES I;
NOTHING ELSE IS. The most striking and famous one is the comparison of man who travels
and his beloved who stays at home to a pair of compasses in A Valediction Of Forbidding Mourning
. Here soul of the beloved is like the fixed foot of compasses as by her inborn nature she stays at
home whereas the soul of the lover is like the other foot of compasses which moves beyond the
center to complete a circle of journey.
IF THEY BE TWO, THEY ARE TWO SO
AS STIFF TWIN COMPASSES ARE TWO,
THY SOUL THE FIX FOOT, MAKES NO SHOW
TO MOVE, BUT (DOTH) IF THE OTHER DOE.
In The Relique, John Donne imagines himself lying in a grave as a skeleton with the undeniable
token of spiritual love in the sphere of his beloved s bright lock of hair forming a bracelet about his
wriste borne and because of their great love, he and his beloved will be honored like saints,
ALL WOMEN SHALL ADORE US, AND SOME MEN. Another feature is the use of colloquial
speech which marks the metaphysical poetry. In John Donne s poems, the vigor of colloquialism is
especially apparent in the abrupt, conversational opening of many of his poems. He selected
colloquial diction which has vigor, freshness and originality. He discarded literary words and phrases
which became rusty because of repetition. Another characteristic of metaphysical poetry
Importance Of Energy Efficiency Essay
Energy Efficiency

Humans today are using much more electricity than we need to in our houses and this is impacting
our world more then we realise. Although electricity is a huge advantage to humans it has the
complete opposite effects on our environment. By using more electricity, we are using more of the
earth s resources and if we keep going down this road then we are going to run out. The solution for
this mass overuse of energy is to build houses which are more energy efficient. Features like LED
lightbulbs, insulating and even positioning your house in the correct position for natural airflow
instead of using air conditioning are all ways we can help improve this problem.
What does energy efficiency mean?
Energy efficiency means using less energy to provide the same service. An example of this is
where a LED lightbulb uses less electrical energy than a traditional incandescent lightbulb to
produce the same amount of light. The phrase energy efficiency can also be described as any kind
of energy saving measure. (1)
How is electricity made?
In 1831, scientist Michael Farday discovered the first form of electricity. He found that when a
magnet moved inside a copper coil it created what is known as an electric current. This invention is
known as a turbine generator. Even today, in full sized power stations this simple invention is still
used and works very effectively. These power stations create mass amounts of energy to turn the
turbines. Most of the time the energy is made from the heat, for example when coal is burned. More
environmentally friendly power stations use wind or flowing water to turn these turbines. This is
known as renewable energy because it will not run out, unlike when oil and coal are used.(3)
How does the use of electricity impact our world?
Environmental Affects
Although humans use electricity for almost everything we do, we don t realise that this is harming
our environment in many ways. The production of electricity is causing a major loss of the earth s
natural resources such as:
Loss of coal and natural gases
Deforestation for mining (loss of trees)
Loss of habitat for rare and threatened species
Another environmental issue resulting from the production of electricity
Group Research Paper- Online Platforms
Group Research Paper As a group you must review 5 online platforms of your choice (e.g.
Facebook, Twitter, Ideascale, etc.) that could be used by a virtual team in a company to
communicate with their worldwide divisions. Your group must use your readings to research and
create a grading platform to create criteria to grade each platform. For example, you could create a
matrix that has ease of communication as measuring item. After your group has graded these
platforms, each person in your group will then write their own 5 to 7 page paper to recommend
whether or not Ford should use these platforms by using your grading matrix and your readings to
discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each platform. In the end, you... Show more content on

What Is The Rebel Belle Character Analysis
The book I chose to read for the fourth quarter is called Rebel Belle . This book was written by
Rachel Hawkins. I was excited to read this book because the cover looked very girly and it
seemed like a book I would be interested to read. This book is about a girl named Harper Jane
Price, whose life is suddenly changed forever, all because she forgot to put on her favorite lip
gloss. On the night of the Homecoming dance, Harper is expecting to win the title of Homecoming
Queen, dance the night away, and leave feeling happier than ever. But this plan didn t exactly work
out in her favor. She goes to the bathroom to freshen up and soon is faced with a dying janitor, a
teacher with a scimitar, and an experience that will change her life forever.... Show more content on

group, such as Cotillion. She is an elegant and classy woman who is also David s Mage, or
personal witch. The story is about a popular, girl named Harper Jane Price, whose life soon
changes when she is trapped in the bathroom with a dying janitor. Harper ran into the ladies
restroom to put on her favorite lip gloss before the homecoming dance, when the door was
suddenly closed and locked by the janitor, Mr. Hall. He was panting and visibly wounded, and as
she leaned down to help him, he pulled himself up to kiss her, dying right after. Dr. DuPont, her
history teacher, flew into the restroom with a scimitar, ready to kill Harper. When he ran at
Harper, an unknown super strength kicked in and Harper killed Dr. DuPont with her stiletto heel.
Harper walked back into the bathroom to get her lip gloss a little while later and she saw that both

Narcissistic Personality Disorder Research Paper
Narcissistic Personality Disorder Research Paper
By Jonathan Ilunga
Sonoma State University

Abstract
This paper will aim to define narcissistic personality disorder as a whole. The document will cover
the topics of symptoms, prevalence, and contributing factor. In addition to covering the general
description of the disorder the paper will present a case study to provide a clearer image of the
parameters of NPD. 2 scientific studies will be presented in order to offer empirical data regarding
NPD and to add knowledge recently acquired through experimentation.

These include limited reparenting(which centers in spotlighting and helping cope with issues during
early development that may have led to mental problems), imagery, flashcards(in order for treatment
to be maintained outside of the office), chair work, and a diary. These separate forms of
psychotherapy are used together to promote empathy, introspection, and healthy coping methods in
patients with NPD.( Young p.177)
Case Study: H
A prime poster boy for narcissistic personality disorder subject H was a middle aged Iranian man in
the midst of drug rehabilitation. It is common for people with NPD to become dependent on
substances due to their necessity to cope with inadequacy.(Donaldson Pressman, The Narcissistic
Family 1994) Like many people with NPD he was very handsome and held a demanding
presence.(DSM) H s symptoms were first noticed by his therapist during a group talk session. H
was noted to recount stories of vicious spousal abuse (throwing his ex wife out of a moving car in
rage) and robberies he committed against family members at gunpoint, with a sense of pride and
content. H s therapist decided to see how he interacted with his parents in order to develop a better
diagnosis. His therapist Stras describes the session:
For two hours tonight, he sits in between his parents with his arms spread out and draped behind
their backs. He holds the tops of each of their heads and they nod and blankly drone on about what

The Importance Of Gender Roles In Education
In every human culture, one of the first organizing principles we learn as children is the distinction
between males and females, to which we continue to expand on this knowledge of what societal
tasks or roles are socially acceptable of each sex (Bem, 1981). A prejudice against women has been
documented in research since the 1960s, more specifically when women fail to comply with gender
stereotypes. For example, when women possess uncommon gendered specified characteristics or
professions, it is not considered gender appropriate behavior (Basow Silberg, 1987). While women
dominate the profession of teaching in elementary schools or middle schools, males dominate the
profession of full time faculty at degree granting post secondary institutions by 53%, whereas women
account for 44% of full time faculty (National Center for EducationStatistics [NCES], 2015). The
faculty that is considered in the statistic previously mentioned included professors, associate
professors, assistant professors, instructors, and lecturers (NCES, 2015). Students experiences with
various educators throughout their education may instill implicit biases, and these biases may be
influencing the perceptions of what students define as a good educator (Arbuckle Williams, 2003).
At the beginning of every semester, most college students share the experience of sitting down,
watching, and judging their professors (P. Carter S. Carter, 2013). It is a common practice at the
end of the semester for
Pratt And Whitney s Impact On The Military And Commercial...
I will do my research on Pratt and Whitney s significant contribution to the military and commercial
aviation throughout the years. I have always been interested in this great company s ability to learn
develop, evolve and advance their engine manufacturing technological capabilities throughout the
years thus, making them a force to recon with in the engine field. My focus will be towards the
beginning when they started building simple horizontally opposed engines through the radial
engines particularly during nineteen fifties. The wasp and the double wasp capable of producing
over 400 and 1300 shaft horsepower respectively for that time period which was unheard of will be
discussed. I love aviation and have always marveled at the share... Show more content on

These airplanes were equipped with four of these engines and transported passengers in comfort.
These engines had better performance, reliability and greater fuel efficiency than any other at that
time and won the company the prestigious Collier Trophy award. Everything remained unchanged
until 1966 when again the company introduced the JT9D turbofan fan commercial use. Which
would later be used in the on the iconic and still the best looking airplane in aviation history the
Boeing 747 which opened a completely new era in commercial aviation in 1970.

The P W Wasp Junior was produced by the thousands. It was a simple, dependable, easy to work on
engine. The accessories were attached to the rear and the constant speed prop hub to the front.
Over the years, there have been many different configurations of radial engines, from three
cylinders to nine cylinders, with the seven and nine cylinder versions preferred. When more
power is required, a second engine is bolted at an angle to allow cooling air to reach the second
set of cylinders. The famous P W corn cob engine had four banks of seven cylinder engines attached
to one crankshaft. That s 28 cylinders, and 56 spark plugs to regularly change.
The all time reigning king of radial engines is built by United Aircraft s Pratt Whitney Division. The
man behind the engine was Frederick Rentschler who had designed a revolutionary radial
