Nuclear Power Is A Technology
Nuclear Power
Nuclear power is a technology that has enormous benefits for humankind. As the demand for energy
is only continuing to grow, it has become important to develop energy technology that has good
yield and minimal negative side effects. After the harnessing of the atom for use in nuclear weapons,
the knowledge of how to exploit the atom became incorporated in nuclear power plants (Corradini 1).
These use uranium fuel in a process that releases tremendous amounts of energy to be captured, but
also that creates minimal waste and other byproducts. Despite these, the benefits of nuclear energy
outweigh any disadvantages, as seen by its high energy output, reliability, and minimal
environmental impact when compared to energy sources such as fossil fuels.
Due in large part to its high energy output, nuclear power is a feasible and practical technology for
meeting the world s energy needs. For example, global energy demand has been continually
increasing, with a 66% growth between 1980 and 2007; this demand is expected to increase by
40% by 2030 (World Nuclear.org). As a testament to nuclear power s utility as an energy source, it
currently provides a large amount of global electricity: nuclear power met 20% of the global
demand of electricity as of 2008 (Abu Khader). This power generation is spread across 30 countries
and is a result of 436 nuclear power plants (Adamantiades). The 20% figure also represents the
United States dependence on nuclear power for generating
Anne Sexton Cinderella
Anne Sexton s archetypal poem Cinderella , published in 1971, examines the classic Grimm s fairy
tale. At this point in time, Disney s Cinderella had been around for over twenty years (Sexton,
Cinderella). There is a stark contrast between the two works especially in their plot, characterization,
and tone. Cinderellathe poem and Cinderella the movie tell the same general story, despite the
many differences among the details in the plot. An unfortunate girl s parents die leaving her to be
raised by an evil stepmother with her two daughters, working almost like a servant in the house.
Although her stepmother forbids it, Cinderella attends the prince s ball with the help of a magical
being. The prince falls madly in love with Cinderella, and when she leaves, he attempts to find her
by comparing the shoe Cinderella... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By comparing Cinderella to Al Jolson, a comedian who painted himself black and made fun of
African Americans, Sexton might be trying to lead the audience to believe that Cinderella is silly
or offensive character. Sexton also compares her to a gospel singer as she begs her mother s
grave to send her to the prince s ball. The commentary Sexton offers on the large size of the dress
that the tiny dove drops like an egg could be used to mock Cinderella s wish, adding to the
negative characterization (Sexton 1012). On the other hand, the movie develops Cinderella by
appealing to the viewer s empathy as it shows her mistreatment. Rather than begging to go to a ball
Cinderella makes her own dress, and when her stepmother destroys it, a fairy godmother comes to
her to replace it. This lends to an overall more positive characterization of Cinderella.
In conclusion, Anne Sexton s poem has a negative tone and characterization of Cinderella compared
to the Disney film. These differences are made apparent in the differences in plot between the two
Social Practices And Education Will Be Contemplated Essay
Thousands of years after survival of the fittest human races depended upon instruments of warfare,
the pen, a tool not designed for combat, was declared mightier than the sword by Benjamin Franklin
(World of Quotes, 2003). Ironically it was one of the first human weapons, the sharpened stone, that
was a precursor to penand paper when it was used to etch drawings upon cave wall dwellings
(Bellis, 2004). Long use of these concrete implements forged abstractions of them. Pen and paper
have been interiorized into social practices and language (ex. back to the drawing board ), and have
been instrumental to the externalization of our innermost thoughts and emotions. Pen and paper will
be examined together as each is the other s raison d etre. The manifold impacts pen and paper had
upon industry, social practices and education will be contemplated.

Cave wall drawings were early means of non verbal self expression, and would empower the
development of symbol systems and alphabets that spurred the onset of literacy (Ong, 1982). Pen
and paper allowed humans to delve deeper into realms of communication and self expression, or
perhaps early mimicry of pen and paper indicated an innate predisposition for humans to express
themselves through this medium. Whatever the case may be, the earliest means which
foreshadowed pen and paper involved a stylus of bone, metal or ivory used to place marks on wax
coated tablets called tabula cevata. These inexpensive tablets were in widespread

The variant HCL form accounts for less than 10% of all HCL cases and does not differ in the
major surface characters. The definition and clinical recognition as of the two distinct entities
are primarily based on their unique combination of surface antigens. Patients with the classic
form of HCL have a distinct immunophenotypic profile on their malignant leukemic cells and are
positive for CD20, CD19, CD11c, CD25, CD103, and CD123 (Kotsianidis, et al., 2011). In
contrast, the variant HCL from are characterized as being positive for CD11c, CD20, and CD19;
and negative for CD25 and CD123 (Jain, et al., 2014). Mortality due to HCL is mostly attributed
to infection or bleeding complications. There is a chronic occurrence of bacterial or fungal
infections in HCL patients. The hairy surface characters act as anchor for multiple microorganisms.
In addition, the same surface features help HCL cells to attach to different surfaces and invoke
autoimmune disorders and second malignancy (Pillai, et al., 2013). Due to the understanding of the
surface of HCL cells, first by SEM followed by molecular characterization, enormous progress has
been made in finding treatment for HCL. Although, there is no curative therapy, HCL can be
controlled for long periods of time with purine nucleoside analog (PNA). PNA therapy induces a
high complete response (CR) rate both during initial therapy and as
Cruelty In Kingsolver s The Poisonwood Bible
The Theme of Cruelty in The Poisonwood Bible In Kingsolvers novel,The Poisonwood Bible, the
characters are subjected to physical and physiological cruelty due to the actions and imperiousness
of the perpetrator and antagonist Nathan Price. The Poisonwood Bible is told in a series of
chronological accounts from the women of Price family in which the reader sees the cruelty and
misfortune they endure in their everyday life in the Congo. In the end, cruelty pushes the Price
family to the breaking point and the whole family decides to leave Nathan in the village as he loses
what is little left of his sanity. Although Nathan s motives for forcing his family from 1950s urban
America to the village Congo may be genuinely good, his ignorance... Show more content on

Throughout the novel, Nathan exhibits cruelty towards his family and the villagers. Cruelty is a
direct antonym of Love. Looking back to the Bible, Paul states in a letter to the: And now these
three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love ( New International Version, 1
Corinthians 13:13). While Nathan may be spreading faith and hope, because of his cruelty, he is
certainly not showing love, which according to scripture is the most important. Instead of loving
his wife Orleanna, Nathan rebukes her many times for no reason and even acts out in physical
cruelty by roughly batting Orleanna away as she tried to nurse his wounds. Nathan s actions are
again hypocritical and go directly against the Bible says. Paul, in another letter, writes Husbands,
love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. (Ephesians 5:25).
Ultimately Nathan is not able to convince any of the villagers to be baptized because he has not
showed love and therefore not God to them. John, another apostle, states to a church that is
struggling with false prophets: Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love (1
John 4:8). One may conclude from these verses that even though Nathan Price may have some
knowledge of the Bible, he truly does not know God,
Examples Of Security Policy
A well written and understood security policy is key to protecting an organization from security
breaches or pit falls associated with DDos , malware and virus attacks. During 2016 DDoS or
distributed denial of service attacks were up by 71% and most used an attack incorporating botnet
malware. Botnets are used to send email spam and engage in click fraud attacks and generate
malicious traffic for DDoS attacks. These attacks can not only slow down an organizations network
traffic, but can cost a company massive amounts of loss in capitol. A well constructed securitypolicy
is the basis and structure to help create a comprehensive security program for any organization.

It s also key to remember the policy is designed to support the organization and not the other way
around.
The need for a comprehensive Security policy outweighs its cost for average size companies.
According to an article from Inc.com company s loss $400 billion a year from hackers and
companies will spend at least $170 billion on cybersecurity by 2020. These numbers are staggering
and a major cyber breach on an organization can do costly and sometime irreparable damage. Not
only does a breach financially impact an organization, the public image of a company can be
tarnished by an attack. The 2013 data breach of Target cost the company $ 10 million dollars to settle
with effected customers and tarnished the company s ability to make sales during the holiday
shopping period when it occurred. The settlement required Target to improve its data security,
appoint a chief information security officer and reimburse the 40 million customers affected by the
breach. If this story alone is not an incentive for an organization to develop a comprehensive
security policy there are many more examples that can be presented. It is human nature to say, it
will never happen to me , but when you organization is responsible to customers data and privacy, a
company has a not only legal responsibility but also an ethical one.

Causes Of Overgeneralization In Canada
Aboriginal people have long rich history in Canada, but with this history they have dealt with an
abundant amount of injustice, they have been constantly been overgeneralized in the Canadian
system of justice leading Aboriginal people to a circle of disadvantage involving poverty and
inequality, to employment barriers, health care matters, and education matters as well. Explicit
procedures were deliberated to help break this cycle specific methods were put in place. Hence,
Aboriginal people have faced in equality in many different forms in the criminal justice. For
instance Aboriginal people experience higher victimization their annual statistics comes to an
average of 40 percent when for non Aboriginal people it is at 28 percent. Leading to higher
incarceration rates of Aboriginal incarceration rate at 1,300 per 100,000 which is about ten times
more than Canadians (140 per 100,000 adults). So leading causes of overgeneralization of
Aboriginal people like this not only because of systematic discrimination by biases in police officers
work or the criminal justice system it is also due to things like socio economic marginality, and
colonial experience they have experienced. Another group that struggles with this issue that
Aboriginal people faced of overgeneralization is African Americans. When it comes to 2015 statistics
unemployment rates for Aboriginal Canadians is at 14 percent person when African American is just
underneath them at 11 percent. But some statics ended up

Essay Books Should Be Banned
Every year, an event called Banned Book Week calls to attention the list of books removed, or
banned from school libraries and classrooms. An organization known as the American Library
Association, or the ALA, holds this event to celebrate the constitutional right to access reading
material (Censorship). These books, many times, are called to attention for their sexual content,
explicit language use, or controversial topics discussed. Books should never be restricted for
children by anyone but their own parents, and no school board, PTA board, or community should be
able to stop a child from learning and pursuing knowledge. Banning books, instead of protecting a
child from harmful content, would marginalize their way of thought and restrict them from new
ways of thinking or ideas. Explicit language and sex are a big reason parents want to restrict books
for their children, deeming the content unfit for their child. [a]ny book with content that does not

Hate teaches us. Genocide teaches us. Murder, rape, depression, suicide, racism, slavery, all of
them have something for us to learn from, despite it not making anyone any happier. Even books
such as Mein Kampf, which promotes hate, is a lesson learned; how seemingly genuine concerns
of national security and wanting the best for your country can be warped and taken advantage of.
This horrible book shows how exactly a nation can follow a regime built entirely upon hate, and
that in itself, is a fact that must be remembered, so no other country may follow this trail of
evil. This knowledge of the horrors of the world makes sure that history should not be repeated
again. Pretending that the world is a happy place is like denying history. Without an opportunity to
hear about the horrors of the world, the mistakes of the past will reoccur, due to not remembering.
