Authority In Antigone
Antigone: Family over Authority
In the play Antigone by Sophocles, the importance of family over authority is heavily expressed.
With Antigone s opening scene, to the interaction with Haimon and Creon, and then ending with
Creon s loss of his family due to his mistakes, the story expresses the moral of family over the law.
From the very beginning of the play, Sophocles shows the importance of family over authority.
Antigone opens up with two sisters in an argument, Ismene and Antigone. Antigone wants to bury
Polyneices, their brother, but since King Creon sees him as a traitor he made it a law forbidding a
proper burial. Bury him! You have just said the new law forbids it. (P. 30). Antigone is willing to go
against the King and risk her own life in order to do right by her brother, But I will bury him; and if
I must die, I say that this crime is holy: I shall lie down with him in death, and I shall be as dear to
him as he to me. (P. 55). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Creon s son, Haimon hears what is going to happen to Antigone, who happens to be his fiance. He
speaks with Creon right away. Creon says, You have heard my final judgment on that girl: Have
you come here hating me, or have you come with deference and with love, whatever I do. (3. 500).
He thinks that Haimon will hate him for punishing his fiance in this way. Haimon does not hate
him, but he does wish for Creon to change his mind, considering Antigone is his family. Haimon is
trying to get Creon to understand that his authority is not alway correct and that he needs to be a
leader with an open mind in order to thrive. I beg you, do not be unchangeable: Do not believe that
you alone can be right. The man who thinks that, the man who maintains that only he has the power
to reason correctly, the gift to speak, to soul A man like that, when you know him, turns out empty.

not preferred for regular usage. Apple accepted failure in computer market and search for another
field to make a great impact. After a well planned strategy iPod portable media players are
introduced to market as the innovative product of Apple. iPod first entered to market in 2001 with a
great impact. The reason for involvement for this new product is based on it s elegant design and
compatibility with legal mp3 downloading system iTunes. Unquestionably there were existing
digital music players. But the main problem with existing products is the memory limitations and
design. With iPods circular console works through touchpad logic. In addition with color and size
choices iPod provide variety. iPod can play MP3, AAC/M4A, Protected AAC, AIFF, WAV,

Perseus And The Quest For Medusa s Head
The story of Perseus and the Quest for Medusa s Head , begins with a man named Perseus who
lives in Greece. Perseus and his mother Danae live on the island of Seriphus with a fisherman
named Diktys. Polydectes is not only the king of the island, he is Diktys brother, and is in love
with Danae and wants to marry her. To get Perseusout of the way, he hatches a plan. He gathers his
friends, including Perseus and asks for gifts to give to win the hand of Danae. He wants horses,
but Perseus does not have one. He brags that he will bring him anything else he wants, so
Polydectes tells him to bring him the head of a Gorgon. The Gorgon s are three monstrous sisters
with snakes for hair, tusks, wings, and bronze hands. Anyone who looks at them turns to stone. The
quest seems impossible and dangerous, but like a hero, Perseus is brave, so he boldly accepts, and
marches forward.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Athena tells him how to locate the Gray Sisters. They are three old hag sisters who share a single
tooth and one eye. Hermes gave him his winged sandals which would allow him to fly. Once
Perseus found them, he stole the eye and the tooth. He tells them he will only give them back if
he gets directions to find the maidens of the western land. They agree. With that, he set out to find
them. Once there, the maidens gave him a sword, a shield, a pouch, and the cap of darkness which
allows him to be invisible. Eventually, Perseus found the lair of the Gorgons. In fear of turning to
stone, he flew backward. Getting closer, he drew his sword and cut off the head of Medusa and put it
in his pouch. Along his journey back, he saved a beautiful princess named Andromeda who was
chained to a rock and about to be killed by a sea monster. Once her father, the King found out, he
offered Perseus anything he wanted for a reward. He wanted to marry Andromeda, and so it was
Dehumanism In Animal Farm
Animal Farm, by George Orwell, relates to the Soviet Union at the time of Stalin s reign because
they both show examples of destruction, dehumanization and the tyranny which happens when a
dictator is allowed to have complete control. Some examples of these comparisons are Old Major,
who represents former Russian leader Lenin, who was a socialist. A second comparison from the
story is the windmill and industrialization of Russia under Stalin, represented by Napoleon in the
novel. One more of these comparisons is Jessie s puppies, who represent the children who were
brainwashed from an early age to agree with Stalin s beliefs. Animal Farm is about farm animals
who live in tyranny under their ruler, an allegory of Stalin s abuse of Russia. One of the biggest
comparisons made between the Russian Revolution and the story is the relationship between old
Major and Vladimir Lenin. In the story, old Major was the farm s prized bull, old Major... was so
highly regarded on the farm that everyone was quite ready to lose an hour s sleep in order to hear
what he had to say (Orwell, 19). Every animal saw Major as a leader, and all, intelligent or not,
looked at his morals as those they should live by. One of said morals is that man brings all the
dangers known to animals, there comrades, is the answer to all our problems. It is summed up in
one word man. Man is only real enemy we have (Orwell, 19). This idea later becomes the foundation
of animalism, meaning that all animals are

The Ban On Advertising Tobacco Products
The ban put on advertising tobacco products in India has caused a lot of debates. Some say it
violates the constitution, others say it saves lives. Each side sets a valid argument, but which side is
right? These bans do not only exist in India. They have been put into action in many different
countries as well. Tobaccouse kills 5.4 million people a year, averaging at about half of all
smokers. (W.H.O. Facts) I think that everyone is aware of how bad tobacco use is for your health.
What people may not seem to realize, is that advertisements play a large role in these deaths.
Among people in India, 74.4% of school children ages 13 15 were exposed to pro cigarette
billboards in 2009. (Sinha DN.) When putting these facts together, something begins to seem morally
corrupt about these numbers. This is why I can understand the concern that people have regarding
the heavily advertised tobacco products. When advertisingfor a company, there are many ethical
dilemmas that a manager may face. Even if management is aware of the negative impacts their
product can have on their consumers, they are still held responsible to advertise their product.
Because of this obligation, managers are succumbed to conceal the truths about their product. They
continue to advertise from a positive perspective, leaving their consumers unaware of the other bad
side effects. In my opinion, these facts could be supported for or against the ban on tobacco. On one
side, a business is clearly using
Judith- Compare and Contrast
Judith Old English and Vulgate Versions

Upon looking closely at the Old English and Vulgate versions of Judith, one can catch a glimpse of
how culture was during the time they were written by comparing and contrasting the elements of the
story that are presented and modified. The distinct differences that can be found between the Old
English and the vulgate versions of Judith provide a clear view of what the Anglo Saxons considered
to be important, and what they felt required respect. When comparing and contrasting these two
versions, one can utilize other Old English works such as Beowulf and The Wanderer to clearly spot
the differences and similarities to receive some insight into the culture and feelings of the Anglo
Saxons.

10, Book of Judith 16:23). The idea of Judith being a warrior for the rest of her life seeking glory
and fighting in battle was most likely an idea that the Anglo Saxons could not give up on and shows
the need their culture had for heroes that garnered glory.
A difference clearly illuminated by examining the two works is the role of women in Anglo
Saxon culture. The Anglo Saxon version of Judith clearly illustrates the idea of a Valkyrie, a
woman who is not afraid to battle, and revels in the thought of Judith being a strong captain or
even warrior who leads her people to a bloody victory. This conception is evidenced by how
Judith is characterized in the Anglo Saxon version being portrayed as a valiant virgin with nerve
and vigor (Judith Ch. 10). This stands in stark contrast to the book of Judith verses three through
four where Judith is revealed to be a widow who has lived alone for three years and four months.
It s obvious by looking at these two different stories that one can tell what was important to the
Anglo Saxon people. A young woman strong and stable without a care in the world besides who
she was fighting would appeal greatly to the warrior culture of the Anglo Saxons. But the book of
Judith reveals to us a woman in deep sadness who has fasted all the days of
Biography Of Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was born on December 21, 1879, originally named Iosif Vissarionovich
Dzhugashvili. He was born in a village known as Gori in the Russian province of Georgia. His
father was a shoemaker, and a drunk. He left Gori when Stalin was young to find work in the city
of Tiflis. With his father gone, Joseph s mother, Yekaterina, made the biggest impact on his life it
was she who led him in his education. Joseph started out at the local Gori Church School. After
attending there, he went to the Tiflis Theological Seminary on a scholarship. Joseph s mother hoped
that at this school, he would learn to become a priest. Instead, Stalin became a devoted advocate for
Marxist revolution.

Stalin was elected General Secretary of the Party in 1922, and although he quickly began to
increase his personal power, no one realized how dangerous he was at this time. As he neared a
1924 death, Lenin began to grow wary of his former protégé, and wrote a Testament warning
against Stalin s influence. But the other members of the Politburo, Lenin s circle of advisers,
ignored the Testament and allowed Stalin to remain in a position of power. At this point, Stalin
began his rise to dominance by destroying his rival Trotsky, expelling him from the party in 1927
and exiling him from the Soviet Union in 1929. Meanwhile, he brilliantly played the Politburo s
factions off one another, first allying with Nikolai Bukharin and his Rightists to destroy the Leftists,
and then, when his position was secure, turning on Bukharin and destroying his power. By 1930, he
stood alone atop the Party and the Soviet
The Function Of Thyroid Gland
The thyroid gland is butterfly shaped organ located in the front of the neck just above the trachea
connected by an isthmus [1]. the major function of thyroid gland is the Production of the T3, T4 and
calcitonin hormones. Dysfunction of thyroid gland causes the shortcoming in the production of
thyroid hormones. Thyroiddisorders related to dyshormonogenesis e.g. (Goiter, Thyroiditis,
hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, Graves disease, thyroid cancer, thyroid nodule, thyroid storm)[2].
For the diagnoses of thyroid diseasewe use chemical and radiological investigation [3], for a
chemical we use the laboratory test for measuring the concentration of thyroid hormones in the
circulation include total T3 and T4 hormone [4], and for the radiological exam, we use various
modalities (ultrasound, CT, MRI and Nuclear Medicines). Ultrasound is the leading imaging
technique for diagnosis of thyroid diseases [5][6], Computed tomography and magnetic resonance
imaging also have a high important role for assessment the thyroid malignancy [7]. Nuclear medicine
is the imaging of utilization of radioactive compounds in medicine to image and treat various human
diseases. It depends on the tracer principle that studies of the fate of compounds in vivo using small
amounts of radioactive materials [8]. Nuclear medicine used to diagnose major tissues and organs of
