Examples Of Oppression In A Tale Of Two Cities
Oppression Led to Rebellion It was the best of times, it was the worst of times... (Dickens,3). The
world is such a duality where the good and bad things are going on the same time. Some people
are experiencing happinesses, some people are suffering from difficulties; the world is just not fit
for everyone. In the book A Tale of Two Cities, oppression is fully put on the poor, while the
happiness is enjoyed by the rich. The poor have endured the endless difficulties until all of their
anger reached a peak and a revolutionary war broke out. While the poor began their revenge, the
rich were still enjoying their abuse of powers. The poor couldn t deal with these injustices which
made their hearts oppressed and led them to the vengeful revolution.... Show more content on

Due to the injustices, people demanded a law to equalize the power, which was called the
Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (August 26, 1789). The law states: men are
equal, and taxation should be determined based on ability to pay.(Burch). The enactment of the
law seemed logic in this case: it was difficult to let the poor change their lifestyle without other
supports. And the rich was able to afford the taxes, but they didn t spend efforts on helping others,
and lack of empathy on other caused them got a vengeful feedback from the poor. In the book
TOTC, the author described the vengeful people who were vexed by the threatens from the
government and rushed into the Bastille looking for gunpowder by using some deep metaphors.
With a roar that sounded as if all breath in France had been shaped into the detested word, the
living sea rose, wave on wave, depth on depth, and overflowed the city to that point. (Dickens,
207). Roar means the anger from oppressed citizens which shows the strength of their hatred. The
author described the crowd as a risen sea which rushed into the Bastille like an uncontrollable tide.
The depth of the sea is unpredictable, there were feelings of hatred from everywhere; the rich could
never know how many people they have offended and how much hatred they have to deserve. All
people have rights to receive equality, if
Henry Hudson Essays
Henry Hudson was an English explorer, who sailed along the North East coast of North
American. His early life is unknown, for there is not even a record of the year he was born. His
final days are a mystery, after his mutinous crew set him adrift in the bay that bears his name, June
1611. It is believed that he could have been the grandson of a London alderman who helped found
the Muscovy Company, which is a trading company. Hudson took four voyages beginning in 1607
and continued to1611, making claims for the English and the Dutch. At one point, he was arrested
for working with the Dutch, because in those days working for another country was considered
treason. Hudson was also known as the grandfather of the English whaling... Show more content on

They put Henry Hudson, his son, and others they didn t like onto a small raft, then set them adrift,
never to be seen again.

Henry Hudson made several important discoveries. He founded the Hudson Bay and Hudson
River. He found the land that later became New York. He also helped to prove that the sun does not
melt the ice at the North Pole and that there is no passage through the Northeast to the Pacific. The
countries that sponsored him benefited though his discoveries. The area, today called New York,
was settled and colonized by the Dutch. As well as, the English whaling industry, which benefited
for his discovery of the whale, pods a Spitzbergen Islands.

Henry Hudson was an adventurous explorer. He started with a sponsorship from his native country
England, but when that was not available he worked for the Dutch. Even though he was arrested
for treason, because he was working for another country, he came back and was able to get hired by
another English company. He was determined to find a quick northern passage to the east for the
benefit of the trade industry. He faced many challenges in his travels. In the end, the toughest
challenge he was not able to over come was his mutinous
Refugees And Refugee Populations
Targeted Populations Assignment

Given the current political climate in the United States, there has been an increased need for social
workers who have experience in working with individuals and families who are considered to be
immigrants or refugees. In the past decade, international conflicts, social oppression and civil wars
have generated 16 million refugees worldwide, with approximately 500,000 refugees being resettled
in the United States (Kira and Tummala Narra, 2014, p. 449). According to current research, 82% of
the increase in population between the years of 2005 to 2050 will be attributed to immigrants
arriving in this time (Chang Muy and Congress, 2015, p. 71).
As part of the ethical responsibilities of a social worker, advocacy on the behalf of clients is
something that needs to be emphasized when working with immigrant and refugee populations.
There have been a significant amount of legislative changes that have been made on both the
federal and state levels within the past ten years, such as the recent ninety day ban of individuals
coming from 7 predominantly Muslim nations (Healy, 2017, p. 247). A significant amount of the
work that is done by social workers with refugee individuals and families takes place either in
temporary settings with limited resources following armed conflicts and ethnic cleansing events
(Soliman and Gillespie, 2011, p. 789).
When working with individuals and families who are considered to be refugees, it is important to
Importance Of Youth Tourism
Through the survey of men and women in the choice of different types of hotels, it is clear that
boys are more inclined to choose a youth hostel as a place of travel, while girls are more inclined to
choose luxury hotels.Youth tourism plays an important role in the tourism industry (Horak and
Weber, 2000), in terms of size and growth rate (Matzler and Siller, 2003). Youth tourism has also
been identified as one of the largest parts of the global tourism industry, and with the increase in
youth affluence; youth tourism will also have great potential for future growth (Richard and Wilson,
2004). In addition, young tourists are usually attractive and trendy to build and build tourist
destinations (Horak and Weber, 2000). For women travellers, they may choose to stay in luxurious
accommodation such as hotels, bungalows and villas. They tend to spend more accommodation so
that they can rest in a more comfortable place. Hotelranking is high, service and facilities are
certainly better. The superior hotel usually offers services such as meeting rooms, golf courses, golf
clubs, gyms, saunas, massage rooms, swimming pools, shops and restaurants. When the big family
travels, the cottage and the villa are more popular because the cottage and the villa contain more
rooms and have their own houses. Staying in luxury accommodation, such as hotels, bungalows and
villas, is easier and more convenient than staying at a cheap stay because everything is prepared in a

In Canada, Terry Fox Is Always Suggested To Be A Hero Who
In Canada, Terry Fox is always suggested to be a hero who offered by way of clues to a Canadian
cultural identity. Terry Fox is a famous Canadian athlete and cancer research activist. In 1980, his
efforts for embarking on a cross Canada run to make people recognize the importance of cancer
research, with one of his legs amputated, successfully influenced and engaged millions of people.
Terry Fox quotes that to him, being famous himself is not the idea of the run, while the only
important part for him is the Marathon of Hope. (1980) In this essay, I am going to analyze the
heroism, nationalism and identity that Terry Fox brings to Canadian history. First of all, throughout
Canadas history, its culture is mostly influenced... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terry was diagnosed with cancer and had part of his leg amputated, however, he didn t lose hope
and confidence for the life. In fact, he decided to do a series of 10 kilometre runs across Canada.
With the 3393 mile long running in different locations, a lot of Canadians are inspired , and they
called on the offices of Minister of Amateur Sport Gerald Regan, Governor General Edward
Schreyer, and Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, to celebrate a national honour of Fox. Fitness and
Amateur Sport announced it the commemorate Terry s great marathon achievement and his
courage and unifying influence on our nation (Fitness and Amateur Sport 1981). This
announcement was widely spread so that Terry s Marathon of Hope has been marked as the
significant Canadian moment. At that time, Terry was not only as a hero but also as a man who
joined Canada together at a time when it was growing farther and farther apart (Hamm 1981). In
fact, Terry s Marathon of Hope took place when the Charter of Rights and Freedoms was under
construction, Dominion Day was renamed Canada Day, and O Canada became the official national
anthem. All of theses were part of a new symbolic order crafted primarily by the Trudeau Liberals,
which promoted a pan Canadian vision of the federation (Hayday 2010, 311). His strong efforts and
attitude towards the marathon means significant to the whole country. Daniel
The Effectiveness Of Animal Protection Laws Essay
The Effectiveness of Animal Protection Laws in the United States Almost eight million dogs and
cats are surrendered to local shelters each year. Of those nearly three million are euthanized in the
U.S. according to the ASPCA. There are only three federal laws in the nation regarding animals,
The Animal Welfare Act (AWA), Humane Methods of Slaughter Act, and the Twenty Eight Hour
Act of 1877. The AWA specifies regulation for domesticated pets, while the other two are for
livestock and humane killings, but these don t even include chickens! States are responsible for
any other animal laws, while in the European Union (EU), fifteen countries implement and
provide legislation on proper animal care across the board. Why is it that the United States hasn t
passed any federal legislation since 1966? Are states laws really enough? Federal domestic animal
law should be more stringent. Many owners regard their pets as children. There are an
unsurmountable amount of laws regarding the treatment and wellbeing of a child. However,
because these animals are seen as personal property, the same type of effort has not been placed
forth for the fur babies . Laws are instituted for the protection of humanity; however, this planet is
shared with many other species who deserve even the simplest of protections. Legislation focuses
heavily on the proper care and treatment of pigs, sheep, and cows; but, not man s best friend?
Legislation for the humane treatment of pets only exists at the state
Perseverance In The Giver
Do you feel like you put much perseverance and courage to help your society that is in need? Then
maybe you are like Jonas and Rikki Tikki Tavi both of which are two of the many people that
show courage and perseverance, not just to help themselves. Take Rikki for instance, he killed
three of the deadliest snakes in his family s garden to protect the other animals that are in the
garden and his family from danger. Jonas is like this but he showed courage because when The
Giver was in pain, Jonas was the one who helped take the pain away. Without even knowing what
was causing that pain. In the story, The Giver by Lois Lowry, Jonas show tremendous amounts of
courage, that in the end will change him. I ll come back tomorrow sir, he said quickly.
Clinical Rotation At St. Anthony Hospital
This clinical rotation differs from my previous OB rotation last semester. I did my OB rotation at
St. Anthony Hospital and compared to it, OU Children s Hospital is different. At St. Anthony, we
don t have much opportunity to see the birth of a baby, but here at the OU Children Hospital, the
first thing I walked in is either in the middle of labor or that a labor is about to happen. This may
due to the month. I assume that there are more babies born in June than in May. On my first day,
my preceptor and I took care of a patient with hematoma as a result from giving birth. This patient
lost more than 500cc of blood. We massaged her fundus and straight cath her. Finally, we insert a
Foley catheter. At once point, when the midwife checked her and massaged the patient s fundus, a
tennis ball size blood clot flew out of her vagina. I was surprised and amazed. She massaged it
again and more blood clots shot out, almost missed the end of the bed and flew to the floor. From
this experience, I learned not to stand at the bottom of the bed when someone is giving someone a
fundus massage. This is an interesting sight and I would never expect to see something like this to
happen.
On my second day, the first labor I witnessed took place very fast. The mother doesn t have to do
much pushing and the baby slipped out of her. During this time, the only nurse available is my
preceptor. This is not what I expected to happen based on my experience from last semester clinical
simulation and

Major Problems For The Livestock Industry Throughout The...
Introduction
Babesia parasites are obligate intraerythrocytic protozoa capable of invading a wide range of
vertebrate hosts, subsequently leading to serious economic problems for the livestock industry
throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world (Homer et al., 2000;
Uilenberg, 2006). Bovine babesiosis is mainly caused by two species of bovine intraerythrocytic
protozoan parasites, Babesia bovis and Babesia bigemina. Infected animals in an acute stage have
symptoms of fever, anemia, hemoglobinuria, and sometimes resulting in death. In contrast, those in
chronic stages may become chronic carriers without clinical signs. Human and rodent babesiosis
caused by Babesia microti has emerged as a life threatening zoonosis in the world (Kjemtrup and
Conrad, 2000). Although infection usually is asymptomatic, immunocompromised and elder people
develop mild to moderate fever, headache, body aches, fatigue, and anorexia. Importantly, B. microti
has been used as an experimental model for studying novel chemotherapy (Aboulaila et al., 2012)
and host immune responses, the understanding of which is a prerequisite for developing an effective
vaccine against
Babesia parasites (Yokoyama et al., 2003).
Although several attempts have been made to develop a vaccine against babesiosis, no vaccine has
yet proven to be completely effective in preventing Babesia infection. Attenuated live vaccines lead
to significant decreases in mortality; however, they do not prevent the infection or

After discovering that Golden Dancer was all shine, and no substance, Henry Drummond learned to
not trust ideas and objects that are perfect seeming because they are often superficial (Lawrence and
Lee 68). Golden Dancer s deceitfulness illustrated that it is necessary to question concepts to reveal
the truth. In Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee s Inherit the Wind Drummond and Bertram Cates
disregarded society s morals for the truth and Drummond and Rachael Brown accepted and
considered different beliefs, and these actions demonstrated the importance of searching for truth.
Drummond and Bertram Cates considered society s standards to be less important than finding what

After listening to the case, Brown stated that she read the Darwin book and does not want to think
that men come from apes; however, that is beside the point (Lawrence and Lee 76). Brown always
desired to believe the teachings of the Bible, but she demonstrated the exploring the truth is more
important than her previous comforting ideals by challenging her religious beliefs to consider
Darwinism. Drummond s openness to all possible sources of truth, showed that factual information
is more important its source. After the death of Brady, Drummond grabbed both the orange Darwin
and the Bible and balanced equally with his hands (Lawrence and Lee 79). Drummond defended the
teaching of evolution, but he considered the Bible equal to evolution. Drummond s respect for both
teachings demonstrated that finding truth is more important that where it originate from. Even
though the majority of the people in Hillsboro considered religion the perfect belief, Drummond,
Brown, and Cates showed the importance of exploring for the truth by being open to other beliefs.
Religion in Hillsboro was like Golden dance because it seemed ideal. Hillsboro s religious beliefs,
however, were questioned because Cates and Drummond wanted show the flaws in the seemingly
