MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR - DESCRIPTION

The car is fitted with numerous electronic control units that perform a self-diagnostic function.

When a diagnostic tester (Examiner or other device) is connected to these control units, self-diagnosis data can be read
(parameters, errors) or the available active diagnostic tests can be carried out.

All the diagnostic lines reach the EOBD connector (European On Board Diagnosis) which conforms with the Directive in force

Nodes connected to the network are diagnosed via the CAN network, while the dynamic car control network is diagnosed by
specific K lines.

The following are monitored via individual diagnostic K lines:

engine management control unit;

automatic transmission control unit;
ABS/ESP control unit.

All the other control units and CAN nodes are connected to the diagnostic socket through the body computer.

For more details,

See E1050 CAN CONNECTION LINES

MULTIPLE DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION

Diagnostic socket R010 receives a supply at pins 1 and 16 along the lines protected by fuses F4 and F11 respectively, located in
body computer M001.

CAN information signals which connect the diganostic coupling to the body computer node (M001) and to the engine
compartment junction unit (B001) pass through pins 6, 14 and 3.

The information signals from the entire electrical system reach the diagnostic coupling via the two junction units (in the CAN).
