Olympic Games Pros And Cons
Hosting the Olympic Games is a massive risk that cities all around the world are willing to take.
While many people assume that hosting the Games is a way out a debt, it can also be just the
opposite. There are many factors that contribute to the overall success and failure of hosting the
Olympics. For one, the results differ between cities. Cities within countries that are more
economically stable seem to profit from hosting more than cities in countries that are less developed
and economically stable. Hosting the Summer versus Winter Games can also impact the end results.
In general, the Summer Olympics tend to make a more significant impact, as they are more popular
among viewers (Dick and Wang). Regardless, both the Summer and Winter Olympics unquestionably
have both positive and negative impacts on the community and the citizens of its host city. While
hosting the Olympic Gamesin U.S. cities has both pros and cons, in the end, the pros drastically
outweigh the cons.
Through the twenty eight Summer Games and the twenty three Winter Games, numerous cities have
prospered from welcoming the Olympics. Research found that in general within two days of the
Olympics arrival, there is a cumulative increase of two percent in the host cities economies (Dick
and Wang). Across the globe, host cities have benefited ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For U.S. cities, hosting the Olympic Games has both pros and cons, however customarily, the pros

is never protection from the Game. No matter how many cities prosper in the years before and
after the Olympics, there are never any guarantees as to what will happen. Holding the Olympics is
a gamble that many cities are relying to pull them out of their troubles. In the end however, it cannot
be said that hosting the Games is a good or bad things, as there are many up and
Is Justified True Belief Knowledge Summary
In Edmund L. Gettier s essay Is Justified True Belief Knowledge? , Gettier argues that there are
instances in which p is true, S believes that p, and S is justified in believing that p, yet S still does
not know p. In arguing this, Gettier is stating that having Justified True Belief is not sufficient for
having knowledge. To support this argument, Gettier states Smith has strong evidence that Jones
owns a Ford, but is completely unaware of where his friend Brown may be. However, he
randomly creates a proposition that either Jones owns a Ford or Brown is in Barcelona. Since he
has strong evidence supporting that Jones owns a Ford, he is completely justified in believing this
proposition. Yet, Jones does not own a Ford despite Smith s strong evidence, but Brown just landed
in Barcelona despite Smith having no... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gettier argues that this is an instance when despite having Justified True Belief, Smith does not have
knowledge because he could not have really known that Brown was in Barcelona. The Gettier
Problem raised concerns that appeared to make it difficult to have any justified knowledge, but I
will argue that the No Essential False Lemmas creates a set of outlines for knowledge that avoids
the pitfall of Justified True Belief. No Essential False Lemmas eliminates the possibility that
Smith s proposition can be counted as knowledge because it is false that Jones owns a Ford,
which is the only part of the proposition that Smith has support for, despite it being true that Brown
is in Barcelona. It is also merely accidental that Brown is in Barcelona, which also prevents this
proposition from being knowledge. Besides being a solution to the Gettier Problem, the No
Essential False Lemmas is important because it eliminates the possibility of having a false
foundation of knowledge. In selecting what is considered knowledge, it also seems
Impact Of The Gold Rush
Gold is the catalyst for numerous events that develop the American economy just before the Civil
War. Mankind appears to have a passionate, enduring, and daresay destined obsession with gold
and mineral wealth. A gold rush is a force of nature that seems to shake up a culture just as much as
an economy. This is evident particularly in early to middle 1800 s America where there is already
this grand ideal that divine providence wills for a massive expansion of American territory. The
introduction of gold into this equation contributes exponentially to what is by this time a borderline
American Revolution in its own right. The American gold rush(or rather the gold rushes) spawn an
enormous migration movement that leads to several lasting communities; many of which will
eventually become states. The subsequent surge in the country s economy stirs political and
economic discussions nationwide, and an American Middle Class continues to emerge in the rapidly
changing antebellum United States. Gold is the facilitator for all of these events (and more) as the
American economy grows just before the Civil War. The earliest noteworthy gold discovery of the
U.S. occurs in 1799 at what is today Reed s Gold Mine in Cabarrus County, North Carolina.
However, this rush is quickly overshadowed by the Georgia gold rush of 1829. This rush stimulates
a lot more national interest in the prospecting of gold, and several people from all over the United
States flock to the Southern Appalachians to
I Use One Person From My Internship
I administer 3 tests, one of which was AD8, VAMC SLUMS, and MMSE. I used two of my
family members as volunteers and I used one person from my internship. Starting with the AD8
test, the score was 5 which indicate that this person is likely to have cognitive impairment present.
This person is an eight year old woman. Who stays in a senior building in Maywood, IL, alone,
single, has 1 child, African American, middle class. She s hard of hearing, I had to repeat the
questions more than once, and she couldn t see from far distances. She was not very focus on the
test, She was dazing off and then coming back asking me to repeat the question. I addressed these
issues by sitting right in front of her, making sure I pronounced every word clearly, I handed the
her a blank copy of the test (follow along), and I asked if we could sit a quiet place during the
assessment (pay attention better). After the test was over I asked how she felt after the test. She
responded that she feel that something is wrong with her mind. And she said she has indeed been
forgetting a lot of things lately. I asked has there been a change in her medication within the past
year. If so some medication can affect the brain function. And she said she will talk to her doctor
about the medication and side effects. Giving this test made me feel good because she actually took
the time out to let me test her cognitive ability. I thought it was easy and hard at the same time
because she was not focusing in the
The Effects Of Epigenetics Studies Genetic Effects On...
Epigenetics studies genetic effects not encoded in the DNA sequence of an organism, hence the
prefix epi . Such effects on cellular and physiological phenotypic traits may result from external or
environmental factors that switch genes on and off and affect how cells express genes. These
alterations may or may not be heritable, although the use of the term epigenetic to describe processes
that are heritable is controversial. instead, non genetic factors cause the organism s genes to behave
differently.
One example of an epigenetic change in eukaryotic biology is the process of cellular differentiation.
During morphogenesis, totipotent stem cells become the various pluripotent cell lines of the
embryo, which in turn become fully differentiated cells. In other words, as a single fertilized egg cell
the zygote continues to divide, the resulting daughter cells change into all the different cell types in
an organism, including neurons, muscle cells, epithelium, endothelium of blood vessels, etc., by
activating some genes while inhibiting the expression of others.
Definitions
The term epigenetics in its contemporary usage emerged in the 1990s, but for some years has been
used in somewhat variable meanings.
From this, and the associated adjective epigenetic, the term epigenetics was coined by C. H.
Waddington in 1942 as pertaining to epigenesis in parallel to Valentin Haecker s phenogenetics .
Epigenesis in the context of biology refers to the differentiation of

Tinker Vs Des Moines Case Study
Schools have very different policy s when it comes to what the 1st amendment says. 2 cases are
proof of this, Tinker vs Des Moines is a case where a simple armband protesting the Vietnam war
which shouldn t be an issue gets into the supreme court. This is because schools can enforce
things that are a distracting or disruptive to school activity. A similar case to this is Bethel school
district vs Fraser is a case where freedom of speech of a student gets taken away from him. This is
due to the fact the student was making sexual remarks in a school speech which the principle
deemed inappropriate for some students. Both cases directly relate to the first amendment with
Tinker vs Des Moines being freedom of expression and Fraser being freedom of speech. Tinkers case

The School made a statement that said if anyone wears the armbands to school and that they will
be suspended. The Tinker kids still showed up with the armbands leading to a suspension. The
Tinker family of Course took this case to the supreme court since the armbands fall under the 1st
amendment freedom of expression. The school argued that the armbands were a distraction to
school activity and that they had a right to enforce the use of armbands to control the classroom
environment. There was a testimony that the armbands did indeed affect the school. The
armbands drew comments and students with the armbands were being made fun of for wearing
them. A math teacher said he Had his lesson period practically wrecked chiefly by disputes with
Mary Beth Tinker, who wore her armband . If this is true it would be in favor of common good
since the class can operate without any disturbance if they made the Tinker kids take the armbands
off. The court did not rule this way and opted to protect the individual rights of the Tinkers. The
court ruled that the evidence was not enough to suspend the Tinkers. Justice Abe Fortas delivered the
opinion of the 7 2 majority,

Crimes that carry the death sentences

Under Kenyan law, offences of murder, treason and robbery with violence, including attempted
robbery with violence, carry a mandatory death sentence3. In this paper, the National Commission
seeks to demonstrate the urgent need for the abolition of the death penalty from Kenya s statutes.
This is because the death, penalty is a violation of the fundamental right to life.

The death penalty entails the taking away of a person s life after conviction on a capital offence by
a competent court. This form of punishment has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is this duty to protect life that both the state and the individual pledge to uphold under the
Constitution and other international human rights instruments that Kenya has ratified.19 Guarantee
of the right to life is the very minimum requirement for the enjoyment of other human rights since
other rights cannot be enjoyed in a vacuum.

death row for an average of 10 years, some as long as 20 years, declared, following the Zambian
case, that prisoners did not lose all their constitutional rights and freedoms upon conviction; only
those rights inevitably removed from them by law either expressly or by implication. The court
found that the prolonged delay on the death row had adverse effect on the condemned prisoners
physical and mental state as a result of the death row syndrome which, as internationally accepted,
amounts to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment which is prohibited by the constitution.

Essay on America Needs Music Censorship
America Needs Music Censorship

Obscene: so excessive as to be offensive (http://www.webster.com/cgi bin/dictionary). This is the

way the Webster dictionary defines obscene. How do you? Some say obscene is vulgar; others
say the best way to describe obscene is through disgust. No matter how it is thought of, obscene
material is everywhere in society. Television is becoming more liberal, magazines are less edited,
and music is more abrasive. At some point, the public must put its foot down and demand censorship
in order to keep decency in the world.

Numerous studies indicate that a preference for heavy metal music may be a significant marker for
alienation, substance abuse, psychiatric disorders, suicide risk, sex role stereotyping, or risk taking
behaviors during adolescence (http://www.aap.org/policy/01219.html). This statement, and others
like it, has been used as a hypothesis as to why the students opened fire killing 13 and wounding 23
at Columbine. The explicit lyrics have been thought to motivate teenagers into committing acts of
violence. Take, for example, the lyrics from a band named Drowning Pool, Push me again, this is
the end, skin against skin, blood and bone, you re all by yourself, but you re not alone, you wanted
in, now you re here, driven by hate consumed by fear, let the bodies hit the floor (http:/
/www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/drowningpool/bodies.html). This song is titled Bodies and speaks out
about committing murder because of alienation. All teenagers feel these feelings at some point while
they are growing up. While most teenagers can look to someone or something to get them through
this difficult time, some find release in music. If they are exposed to these types of lyrics, without
any rationality, the teenagers can find themselves in
