Stereotypes In Sitcoms
s of sitcoms, men and women had a stereotypical role in a couple. Over time, the traditional roles
of men and women in a couple have evolved to be more realistic to real life. An interesting time in
the history of these original gender roles was World War II. When the men of this time went
overseas to fight in the Second World War, only the women were left at home, meaning that they
had to take the jobs the men had. Women became very large helpers for the war. As men were
needed on the battlefield, there was a shortage of people to work in the outside domain.
Consequently, women filled roles traditionally held by men, and their skills no longer solely applied
to domestic chores. (NA) After the return of the soldiers, many debated the women s... Show more

Once Ricky becomes angry, Lucy is seen backing up, and calling Ricky sir which shows Ricky s
dominance in the relationship. This scene is carried through by having a lot of comedy
throughout, which is a common strategy for sitcoms when bringing up an important issue. Issues
like this came up all over America at this time after WWII ,when the men returned home the war
which left women in a strange position. With men returning, many women did not want to stop
working and it was something that raised discussion in many households. The idea of the men
not being the sole person for income was a different and strange idea for couples which was
shown through the fact that many couples went back to the traditional roles of men and women.
This is a perfect example of this affinity group of couples and how they were portrayed in the
early times of sitcoms. The resolution of this episode was for men and women to stick with their
assumed roles in a couple. While this show brought up many different issues, society at this time
was not ready to accept this idea of men and women not having assumed roles. This came twenty
years later with The Mary Tyler Moore Show featuring a strong, working woman as the lead of the
show. Having this character shows changes in the sitcom world, and the real world. As time
progresses, sitcoms begin to show change, just as the real world has
Ibn Taymiyyah s The Song Of Roland
Ibn Taymiyyah a scholar from the medieval age once said, What really counts are good endings not
flawed beginnings. In the poem The Song Of Roland the main character, Roland struggles with his
pride and bitterness towards the man who married his mother. The story starts with Roland sending
his stepfather off to what they thought would be death, this bitterness ultimately sent hundreds of
soldiers to their deaths. The stepfather, Ganelon, betrayed Charlemagne and Rolandand sided with
the enemy swearing to get back at Roland for his bad deed. The Song Of Rolandstarts with a bitter
beginning and a revival of character in the end, like Ibn Taymiyyah said. The book shows the
character of Roland in many different ways, bitter, prideful, and heroic, but none of these save him
or his men.

Firstly, some could argue Roland s bitterness in his character acted as the major flaw and the
possible cause of his death. As an example, My noble knights, said the Emperor Charles, choose me
one man: a baron from my march, to bring my message to King Marsilion. And Roland said:

collection of brave warriors. After everyone passed away Roland was the only one left, despaired

Animal Testing Uses
Animals are appropriate research subjects because they are similar to humans in many ways.
(procon.org) They are essential for allowing scientists to learn more about human biology and health,
and for creating and developing new medicines. (yourgenome.org) Animal research helps save and
preserve lives. Animals themselves gain from the results of animal testing. Because vaccines were

The US Food and Drug Administration endorses the use of animal tests on cosmetics to ensure
the safety of the product and ingredients. Mosquito repellant which helps protect people from
Malaria and other dangerous illnesses, must undergo toxicological tests in order to be sold in the
United States. (procom.org) It has been estimated that millions of animals per year are used to test
the safety of household cleaners, pesticides, industrial chemicals, food additives, packing
materials, drugs and vaccines for both people and animals, and even the food eaten by other
animals. The use of animals to test cosmetics and other care products has declined in recent years, a
wide array of non animal skin and eye irritation tests have been developed to determine the effects
of short term exposure to new ingredients. The pressure from the public has played a major role in
these alternatives.
In conclusion, animal research is important to saving the lives of many people. Animal testing is
used to determine how much of a drug is being absorbed into the blood. Animal testing enabled the
development of countless lifesaving treatments for both humans and animals, that there is no
alternative method for researching a completely living organism and that strictly regulates and
prevents the mistreatment of animals in the laboratory. (prezi.com) Animals should be used in

Cronus God Of Time Essay
Cronus or Kronos was the Titan god of Harvest and Time. He was the youngest of the first
generation of titans that were bore by Gaia, the earth, and his father Uranus. Cronus was often
depicted carrying a scythe or sickle, therefore, it can be argued that Cronus being the god of time
could also be death. The reason for this is because death is often depicted as wearing robes while
carrying a scythe or sickle. Cronusrises to power by overthrowing his father Uranus. Uranus grows
weary of his wife Gaias creations, mainly the hundred handed Hecatonchires and the Cyclopes.
Uranus takes the Hecatonchires and shoves them back into the Earth effectively blocking any
further creation by Gaia. Gaia is not happy with this so she creates the sickle and goes to her
children, the titans, and asks which of them will exact revenge on Uranus. In the end all of the titans
decline except for Cronus. So, wielding the sickle Cronus faces his father and castrates him, casting
his testicles into the sea. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Financial Statement Auditing

Dr. Stephen Del Vecchio

April 2015

Introduction

The revenue account is a very large account in any financial statement; therefore, auditors need to
design and execute a plan that would provide reasonable assurance that this account is free of
material misstatement. It is also critical to understand the complex audit and accounting issues related
to revenue recognition in order to carry out the audit as efficiently as possible. The auditor needs to
understand the accounts involved in the business process and the support documents in order to
come up with the audit objectives.
The overall objective of the audit of the revenue account is to evaluate the business process to ensure
that revenue is adequately supported and authorized, transaction processing controls are adequate,
segregation of duties throughout the revenue cycle is appropriate and internal controls are
satisfactory. The auditor has to evaluate adherence to proper business practices; however, the
primary emphasis is on reviewing internal controls for effectiveness and utilization, and examining
standards and procedures for policy compliance.
This paper analyzes how the revenue business process works, the risks involved in the process, the
internal controls that mitigate the risks identified and the audit procedures to be used to determine
the effectiveness of these internal controls

Creating A Green Ocean Ecosystem
At the beginning of the challenge we found that brainstorming created task conflict as all of my
group members, including myself, were stuck as to what type of campaign we wanted to develop.
We were able to work around this conflict by putting ideas of campaigns on paper by overcoming
the mental block that kept all of us in the group from continuing with the campaign we wanted to
select. This conflict of developing a unique campaign was then solved when Jesus brought up the
idea of creating a campaign that would raise awareness for creating a green ocean ecosystem that
consisted of removing debris from both inside and around the ocean. We all thought this was a great
idea, so we decided to proceed with the campaign.

After having chosen that our campaign would be on raising awareness on creating a clean ocean
ecosystem, the process conflict that our group faced was on how we would compose our detailed
plan. Our group debated on whether to reference a YouTube video clip, a power point presentation, a
skit, or advertisement. Together we had the opportunity to overcome this process conflict, as
described in our textbook as a disagreement about how and not what should be done in order to
accomplish our task (Beebe, 2015, p. 113), by deciding on the method of presenting our campaign
with images of how our campaign would be implemented. Although initially we wanted to reference
a YouTube video clip to show how the ocean is being affected due to debris and trash dumped in the

George Orwell s Nineteen Eighty Four
Nineteen Eighty four is a story of complete re creation of what was believe to happen during the
time of nineteen eighty four. There was suppose to be a a division of the world into three
separate powers. George Orwell wrote this story as a warning of what might happen if we become
totalitarian. The story is made out to be a fore warning from Orwell of might happen if we ignore
the thought a revolution( Enduring relevance of George Orwell 5). George Orwell showed everyone
what it would be like to have the government have total control over the people. Nineteen Eighty
Fourexplains George Orwells thoughts on how the totalitarian government controlled the people,
the problems that are caused from lack of privacy, the emotional effects leading from the force of
no individualism, and the obstacles produced from the lack of connection from person to person.
The world was divided into three great powers called Oceania, Eurasia, and Eastasia. The story
was based on how their was a risk that a totalitarian government was going to take over. During
these times it was feared that communism would take over Europe, resulting in an overtake of
communism around the world. The book describes the aggressive class differences between
people.Winston says in the book, In the end the party would announce two and two made five, and
you would have to believe it (Part I Chapter VII Page 80). Winston stated that in hopes that it would
help us understand the level of control the government had

The more you expose yourself to diversity, the less ignorant you become. Diversity is beneficial,
because it combines new ideas and cultures into a society. It provides people with visions to develop,
grow, and change. From the early 1900 s to current times, it is shown that diversity has been widely
accepted and has beneficial to today s society. In businesses, by bringing people together from

different racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender. Diversity also improves

Farm , Victorious , Suite Life of Zach and Cody , Wizards of Waverly Place , have cast members of

Another example of how far today s society has come from the White Privilege is, I can go into a
music shop and count on finding the music of my race represented, into a supermarket and find the
staple foods which fit with my cultural traditions, into a hairdresser s shop and find someone who
can cut my hair. There are so many things wrong with this statement in the viewpoint of today s
society. First of all, why do people have to only listen to people of their own race? You can go
through anyone s music playlist and find that they most definitely do not listen to only their race.
Second, you can go to any supermarket and get supplied with any kind of food from different
cultures. For example, if you go through the aisles of Walmart you will see a Spanish food brand
called Goya, Jewish bread called rye bread, and you can even get unique chocolates and candies
from Europe. Grocery stores have all varieties of food; Italian, Polish, Mexican, and Asian. Third,
if someone is a hairdresser, they should be able to cut anybody s hair. In cosmetology school, they
have to be able to work with different types of hair textures to even get their

God Grew Tired Of Us
A refugee is a person who was forced to leave their country. Whether it be from warfare or natural
disaster, their homes are no longer safe to live in, so they need to relocate elsewhere. Once someone
sets foot on the journey of becoming a refugee, they become vulnerable and dependent with no sense
of what the future will bring. In an attempt to accommodate them, first world countries with the
resources necessary to assist these refugees, are struggling to determine whether or not they should
step in and help. Some argue that taking them in could come with excessive consequences, while
others believe they could be assets. Although there may be a few consequences, they are outweighed
by the benefits and undeniable severity of the situation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When relocating to a new country, a refugee must get used to a new culture while suppressing
their own. Not to mention, they have to live knowing that they left their family and friends
behind in a dangerous environment. They are stuck with the burden of not knowing whether or
not their relatives are still alive. Having to live day after day with these weights on your shoulder
would be a detriment to anyone s emotional health. In the documentary, God Grew Tired of Us,
John Dau, a Syrian refugee came to America where he was able to live in an apartment, get a job,
and receive an education. He went from living outdoors with no idea of what tomorrow will bring,
to living in an air conditioned apartment with a chance to build a future, yet Dau still wasn t happy.
He found himself missing his homeland and the friends and family he had left behind. Refugees
face a multitude of emotional stress when starting their new lives, everything has changed for them
and sometimes it can be too much to handle. Knowing they left vulnerable loved ones behind,
while they get to start anew can make it hard to enjoy their chance at happiness. Along with the
distress that comes with being on your own, the different customs and societal values can be
difficult on a refugee. They may need to abandon old traditions or even hide a part of their identity
that wouldn t be seen as normal in their new location. A constant sense of loneliness along with
living in a new area where you don t quite fit in can be emotionally stressful for

Transcontinental Railroad Benefits
The transcontinental railroad replaced the pony express and many other means of transportation,
making travel safer and upgrading technology, improving the lives of many. Farmers, for
instance, were able to trade more crops they had grown, and quicker. The transcontinental railroad
went from Nebraska to California. Say there was a farmer in Nebraska, and he wanted to ship
corn to a trading post in Nevada. Without the railroad, travel would take much longer, and the
trading post would find another farmer that was closer and easier. Furthermore, many forms of
tools that are very important in agriculture could not be easily accessed. A spring toothed harrow is
