Comparing A Cage of butterflies to Mission to mars Essay
Science fiction produces a quot;what if quot; element that asks a question and prophesises the
future. There are many texts, which presents the reader or viewer with a particular way of science
fiction. The two texts, quot;A cage of butterflies quot; by Brain Caswell and quot;Mission to Mars
quot; by Brian de Palmer, both of which conform to science fiction. The technology used in quot;A
cage of butterflies quot; is of extremely high standard and produces a theme that prophesises about
experimentation and mutationsoccurring on humans. The theme in quot;Mission to Mars quot; is
about discovery, communication and reaching out to other life forms.

In quot;A cage of butterflies quot;, the research laboratory in NSW is covertly set, as ... Show more

The babies communicate using pictures and emotional feelings to the others but is hard for them to
communicate in this manner so they try to use their linguistic abilities.

The quot;what if quot; of the novel represent what might happened if we continue to experiment on
life forms. A serum injected by Larsen caused mutation of the babies resulting in the fusing of the
cerebral hemispheres and the enhancement of the babies with extra abilities such as advanced
communication and telepathy. Larsen s greed was shown in his experiments on the kids and in the
future, this greed may possibly entice some people to conduct similar experiments.

The setting in quot;Mission to Mars quot; fills the audience with expectations, as it is futuristic.
Mars is presented in a red colour. The planet is rocky lifeless and barren, with storming winds
blowing dust all over it. The tremendous size of the mountains and gorges make the humans look
insignificant and vulnerable. Inside the face on the planet, a bright, blinding white light in the
background, symbolised peace and high authority eg. Navy uniform. Inside the space ship, the
camera angles give the audience an impression of weightlessness. The camera angles also show how
small and cramped the ship is and how movement is difficult. The technology used in the space ship
is also high in technology. When they voyage out into space, the music

How to Become a Citizen of the United States

Becoming a citizen of the United States is a very lengthy process. Not just anyone can become a

special privilege. The people who do become a citizen should be very lucky and proud to be the
citizen of the United States. Even though they do become citizens of the United States they shouldn
t forget about their own country either, but share the joyfulness.

Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson
Man in the Mirror , a song released in 1988 on Michael Jackson s seventh album BAD . In this
song, Michael Jackson s purpose is to exhort me, you and everyone who listens to this song to start
with themselves if they want to make the world a better place.
When Michael Jackson released this song, there were hunger and endless wars in some parts of the
world, mainly in Africa. A large number of children was starving to death in those areas. Michael,
through his song, called out people to make a difference in the world by first taking a look and
examine themselves Man in the Mirror.

His intended audience for this song is everyone who listens to this song. ... Show more content on

The listener hears these words by Michael but these words seem to describe our daily experience.
This makes an appeal to pathos, stirring emotions. Michael wants the listener to remember that there
are people in our communities who suffer and that we should first care about them rather than
pretending not to see that they need our help.

As I turned up the collar on my favorite winter coat this wind is blowing my mind.
Although he can remove himself physically from the problems he sees all around him using his
winter coat as a physical protector Michael can t escape or run away from the torment of his own
mind, knowing there s more he can do to change the world.

Jp Morgan In The 20th Century
In the 20th Century there was many important people who changed the way the America is today.
John Pierpont Morgan once said, If you have to ask how much it costs, you can t afford it. It is
assumed amongst most people that John never had to ask the price of anything because he had
so much money. J.P. Morgan was a significant figure in America s 20th Century because of his
role in saving the economy, funding huge companies and creating a wealthy bank that is still
around today. In this world it is hard to make yourself somebody important if you don t come
from the right background. Well the Morgan family was always wealthy. J.P. was born into the
home of Junius and Juliet Morgan in Connecticut. He grew up with three siblings, two sisters and
one brother (J.P. Morgan). J.P. attended high school in Boston and after graduation went to
Europe. He knew one day he wanted to take his father s business over, so he went abroad to learn
German and French to be able to expand his future business to the global scale. John married a
woman abroad who was bound to die of tuberculosis 4 months later, and then married Frances Tracy

Morgan has even impacted acts that saved the government many times all because Morgan gave
them the idea. Congress knew that Morgan and his money wouldn t be around forever so they had
to make an act that would make sure they had their own money to secure the Stock Market in the
future if similar situations were to arise. Morgan also bought unsafe rifles from the government,
reconditioned them and sold them back to the government for a huge profit. These rifles were then
used in the Civil War. If Morgan hadn t given the Government safe and technological rifles then the
outcome of the Civil War could ve been different. They might not have been able to defeat the South
with unconditioned and unsafe rifles (Cross, Mary). J.P. Morgan played a major role in saving 20th
century America from many catastrophic
The Significant Dichotomy In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Sinner or saint is a significant dichotomy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Several characters are able
to bridge this: Spike and Buffy being two of the notable examples, playing both roles throughout
the series. However, the female vampires of the series consistently fall into the latter category of
sinner, and not only that, but a sexually deviant or hyper sexualized sinner. There are no recurring
female vampires in the show that do not become categorized in this extreme way. Drusilla was once
a nun, but once turned, all of that religious devotion disappears. Willow is only a vampirein two
different episodes, The Wish and Döppelgangland, yet the transformation that she undertakes is
memorable. This essay will discuss how female vampires,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These are two characters where this hyper sexuality is clear and overt, but it does not lessen the
sexualization of the two other recurring female vampires in the show: Darla and Harmony.
However, when considering the background of these two characters and their personalities
before they were turned, the general stereotype of sexual allure was applicable to their human
lives as well as their vampire lives. Darla was a prostitute who was dying of syphilis when the
Master turned her. She is able to use her human experiences to help seduce victims for food or the
Master s plans. In the first episode of BtVS, she appears to be the prey of a man who brings her to
Sunnydale High, but the audience quickly realizes that she is actually the predator. Similarly,
Harmony is a ditzy character before she is turned into a vampire. Once turned, she remains a
nuisance to Buffy and her gang of Scoobies. Her personality does not get an overhaul and she is
still willing to settle for any one will give her attention, power or popularity. Neither of these aspects
are surprising based on how the characters are written even as humans. The audience does not expect
vampires to turn
Christian Faith Reflection Paper
January 27th, 2015. This is the day that would change my perspective of the Christian faith
forever. Let me take you back to the day before. It was a long day and I had just completed yet
another day at the prestigious Saint Thomas Academy. Later that evening I had planned to attend
tutoring, lift and head home for a prolonged night of study, but this was not the case. As the final
bell rang, I became drowsy, nauseous and extremely light headed, and I did what any other cadet
would do: take a trip to the nurse s office. It was here where I fell asleep for a little under an hour,
and the nurse contacted my mother and I made it home safely. My mom then took my temperature,
provided me with aspirin, and sent me to bed. Now, to completely understand the story, I need to
describe my family. On my mom s side of the family, we were and are still very close to each other.
My cousins and I take tremendous pride and passion in caring for, and spending time with our
grandparents. We were especially fond of our great grandfather, Robert Glockner. He was a WWII
veteran, and had German blood, making all conversations interesting! We spent extended amounts of
time with him, especially during his later years, but it was I who had the opportunity to build a
extravagant relationship with him. We spent countless hours together, him in a comfy bed, and me
seated right beside him in an arm chair. He would relive stories from his time in the Navy, and the
times when we were young. Though,

To be a successful coach one must be willing continue their education and seek out educational
opportunities. The interview and observation of Coach Payette turned out to be one of the best
educational opportunities I could imagine. I found many similarities between Coach Payette and
myself, but I also found a few areas that we were different. In the areas that we were different, I
found that I could learn to improve in my weaker areas, which will then help me reach the level of
