The Border Cities Of El Paso And Ciudad Juarez
Along the Texas/Mexico border there are many border cities, and among the border cities there is a
trend that points to an advantage of prosperity on the US side compared to the Mexican side of the
border. The border cities of El Paso and Ciudad Juarez show an example of the US advantage over
the Mexican side; El Paso is a Texas city on the Texas/Mexicoborder, and in 2014 it was the city
with the lowest crime rate in the US ; Ciudad Juarez, on the other hand was known as one of the
deadliest cities in Mexico . Along with the differences in crime rates, El Paso and Ciudad Juarez
have many differences that make them clear examples of the advantage that Texas border cities hold
over Mexican border cities.
Crime
In 2010, Ciudad Juarez was one of the most violent cities in all of Mexico with 3,057 murders .
Ciudad Juarez became an example of the extent of the drug war that was occurring in Mexico in
the 2000s. Death had become a common occurrence in Ciudad Juarez. At the height of the drug
war in Mexico, between the years of 2007 and 2012, around 11,078 people were murdered in
Ciudad Juarez . In contrast to Ciudad Juarez, El Paso had the lowest crime rate in the US in 2014
. According to the Neighborhood Scout website s interactive map, crime rates in the city of El
Paso are for the most part low, but near the border there is a high crime rate. The higher crime rate
found along the border is probably due to the ongoing drug trade and illegal immigration that occurs
along the
Family Structure And Structure Of The British Family
Introduction.
Family is the fundamental unit of society. The concept and structure of the British family has seen a
change over the last 50 years. These changes have culminated in the decay of marriage and therefore
the rise of cohabitation, new forms of family composition and the delay of parenthood, thus, making
traditional nuclear family less stable than in previous generations (Jenkins et al. 2009).
The aim of this essay is of great importance as it will look at important decades since the second
world war and will give a general understanding of the actual family structure trend in the UK. It also
aims to discuss the changes and impact of these on children, policies and legislation, government,
and society in general. Changes in British family throughout the last 50 years
Aggregate Changes in Household Composition.
Late decades have seen considerable changes here which clearly point out to notions of new
lifestyles, not minimum the trend to autonomous living, and to new family patterns.
Table 1. Irwin (2000).
The most noticeable changes are the raise in the extent of one person households, and in the extent
of lone parent families. In 1996 7 more than one fourth of households comprise one individual
living alone, twice the extent of 1961. The extent of families involving a couple family with
dependent children has fallen from 38% in 1961 to 25% in 1996 7 (Irwin, 2000).
Reference to Irwin (2000), reveals that marriage rates have been in relentless decrease
The King, A Man With Broad Shoulders And A Muscular Build
This morning, the king received word that a fire snorting dragon was again terrorizing the
countryside. It is scaring the people of his kingdom, and they want to leave their land. He
summoned his legion of knights and advisors to the castle for a meeting. Once before the king
sent the royal knights into the area, they tried to stop the giant lizard from roaming the lowlands
and raising havoc in the kingdom. The knights, in their shiny armor, could not slay the animal.
Only chase him back into the mountains. Should he return to the valleys and fields they would
have no option, but to slay him. The king, a tall man with broad shoulders and a muscular build,
is a respected leader on or off the battlefield. He ordered the tables in the grand ballroom, pushed
together to form a square letter U. The knights and advisers will be sitting on the outside of the
tables. The king, wearing his blue robe with the royal crest, will walk back and forth on the inside
of the tables. Looking troubled, the king rested his right hand on the handle of his sword. As he
walked by looking at the people sitting on the other side of the table, he would, from time to time
stroke his white beard with his left hand. With a stern and demanding look on his face, the king
made eye contact with each person sitting on the other side of the tableas he walked by. Stopping
when he got to Titus, the king looked the boy for a moment, and then started to walk away. Stopping

Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary
Dokte Paul. the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins when author and
journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a big shot
Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian type work in Haiti even though he could have an
easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who
would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their healthholistically instead of just
treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder back to Haitiwith
him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer s patients
and co workers call him Dokte Paul; the word dokte is Haitian Creole for doctor. Kidder also
observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr. Farmer
established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for friend health. This charity
not only provides low cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr. Farmer often
uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite being a
successful physician. Dr. Farmer begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian people, the
health issues they face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian proverb,
mountains beyond mountains, which means that for every metaphorical mountain a person climbs,
Raoul Wallenberg Research Paper
Raoul Wallenberg is credited with saving the thousands of lives of Jews who were taken into Hitler
s concentration camps during World War II. His devotion and honored Swedish heroism earned him
his recognition we acknowledge today.
He was born on August 4, 1912, three months after the death of his father, Raoul Oscar Wallenberg.
His mother, Maj Wising Wallenberg remarried Fredrick von Darriel in 1918. Wallenberg s
grandfather, Gustav Wallenberg, took care of his education while he was growing up, having in his
mind that he would carry on the tradition of his family as highly respected bankers, diplomats, and
politicians. But Wallenberg had his own interest. He loved architecture, and in 1930 he graduated

explained that she could be calm, since her son was well kept in Russia. To the Swedish foreign
minister wife, Aleksandra Kollontaj, said the same time that it would be best for Wallenberg if
the Swedish government wouldn t stir things up. Kollontaj was called back Russia, meanwhile,
and the issue took a new turn. On his way out of the capital on January 17 with Russian escort
Wallenberg and his driver stopped at the Swedish houses to say good bye to his friends. To one of
his colleagues, Dr. Erno Peto, Wallenberg said that he wasn t sure if he was going to be the Russian
guest or their prisoner. Raoul Wallenberg thought he d be back within eight days but he has been

Father Son Relationships In The Iliad
Throughout the Iliad , Father to son relationships is something that we see often dthe during the
story. This type of relationship is one that is extremely important for many people in the
world, going back to the beginning of time. Personally, my relationship with my father has been
one that has been one that has helped shape me to the person that I am today. Without my father, I
would not have someone who is a mentor for me . There has been countless different things I
have learned from him and I know that I can go to him if I ever need help or advice from him. I
also would not have someone who serves in the other roles that he does as well. One of the
important father to son relationships that we come to learn about is the relationship of Achilles with
his father . We do not get to learn a little about this until the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

After Achilles kills hector he drags the body around on his chariot. Achilles does this to mock
Hector s body. In addition to Achilles doing this, many Achaeans also defile the body by stabbing
it multiple times. Despite this, Hector s body is still in tact due to the Gods protecting his body ,
so that it would not get completely ruined. The gods did this for Hector due to the amount of love
that they had for him. When all of this was happening Priam was watching over this. I could not
even imagine what he must have felt to see his own son being mocked the way that he was. It
made it even worse for Priam because Achilles had already killed all of his other sons previous to
this. That is why Priam begs Hector not to fight Achilles. He knew that Hector was just simply not
going to win against the almighty Achilles who was half god. Death for Hector was inevitable
from the start. Priam and Achilles has a father and son type of moment after hector dies. Priam
begs Achilles to spare Hectors body and to give back to Troy, so that they can have a proper funeral
for him.
Jamaica Kincaid Girl Essay
Since the beginning of mankind, oppression has been a major obstacle for women to overcome. In
Girl, Jamaica Kincaid illustrates through written word the struggle women go through due to the
expectations set for them. While there is female oppression of different forms, Jamaica Kincaid s
Girl is a resemblance of the oppression she felt during her childhood on the small and remote island
nation of Antigua.
In its most basic form, Girl vividly paints a literary picture depicting the way an old fashioned
wife is supposed to be in the eyes of her male patriarch. The piece by Kincaid seemingly consists
of a single string of instructions and commands from a motherly figure to a daughter. The
instructions could be described as a mother teaching a daughter how to properly do a women s
chore or how to keep her husband happy. For example, the motherly figure states, this is how to sew

Early on in Kincaid s piece, the motherly figure interrogates the young girl about singing benna in
Sunday school: is it true that you sing benna in Sunday school?...don t sing benna in Sunday
school...but I don t sing benna on Sundays at all and never in Sunday school (Kincaid, 120). During
the time Jamaica Kincaid lived on the island of Antigua, the British government had reign. As a
result of this movement of imperialism, Antiguan musicians adopted a West Indian form of short
song known as benna. Benna was a short hymn that often never went with musical instruments. Its
main purpose was to speak about culturally controversial topics such as sexuality, drugs, and
feminism as well as political corruption. As a result of the controversial lyrics, many Antiguans
were jailed for writing benna. While benna was not specific to Jamaica Kincaid, it does show one
form of oppression she faced growing up ( Countries and Their
Persuasive Essay On Public Toilets
An integral and necessary part of the built environment, moreover our daily lives restrooms
provide the real human need for safe and sanitary facilities when we go to work, go to school, and
participate in public life. Every day, many utilize the facilities of public toilets in workplaces,
schools, and the innumerable other spaces we pass through and occupy while outside our homes
(Kopas, 2012). As defined by Matthew Kopas (2012), a public bathroom is any toiletfacility that is
not located in a private dwelling, encompassing both traditional on street local authority public toilets
and off street toilets to which the public has right of access, for instance, in shopping malls and
commercial spaces (Greed, 2014), thus coining by the British Toilet Association (2001) to be toilets
away from home .
Public toilets, therefore, should be perceived as a core component in designing quality and viable
capitals (Greed, 2004), which includes the planning and designing of cities towards accessibility,
inclusivity, and convenience of all the members of society (Bichard et al, 2014; Afacan Gurel,
2014). Furthermore, ensuring public toilet provision to be accessible and inclusive is considered
vital in removing a severe hurdle towards a greater public productivity (Knight Bichard, 2011).
However, toilet provision has remained inadequate in most communities, which lack even
rudimentary toilet access (Gershenson Penner, 2009; Molotch Noren, 2010). According to Kitchin
Summary Of Surprised By Joy By Cs Lewis
Spring Book Review: Surprised by Joy by C. S. Lewis C. S Lewis recalls his spiritual journey as
an atheist to a full on believer in Christ through his book Surprised by Joy. Lewis grew up in
Belfest Ireland where he first found his love for writing and reading. He would listen to stories
from his older brother of the boarding schools in England where he would soon be attending and
where he finds his first taste of Atheism and rationalism. Lewis soon grows up and is thrown into
the horrors of WWI on his 19th birthday. After the war C.S. Lewis attends Oxford and often moves
around. It was not until later in life and at the end of the book that Lewis became a Christian. I
gave in, and admitted that God was God, and knelt and prayed . I
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Sulphuric Acid
Uses of sulphuric acid
Sulphuric acid is a very useful, referred as universal chemical because it is a commonly used
chemical in the world and is used in a lot of manufacturing industries, for example, car battery,
manufacturing fertilisers, refining crude oil, making phosphoric acid etc. This chemical is also
known as one of the most important industrial chemical. This acid has helped us in many ways,
making things easier for us.
What is sulphuric acid?
Sulphuric acid is a chemical compound, H2SO4. It is colourless, odourless and very corrosive
causing burn. It is an oily liquid and is sometimes called oil of vitriol. Sulphuric acid can be
produced by Contact Process.

Positive environmental impacts
This product of sulphuric acid, phosphoric fertiliser, can make fertile land. It can help farmers by
making more land for them to grow crops. More soil nutrients are available for farmers to use. The
farmers are able to use more land for farming efficiently instead of planting in small spots. Besides,
the plant growth can be improved to protect the soil. More different plants can grow. The
biodiversity can be increased.
Negative environmental Impacts
Even though this chemical is very helpful to farmers and is good for crop production. Over using
chemical fertiliser can cause a lot of pollutions. For example water pollution occurs when the
fertilisers are washed into rivers or sea. Besides, plants or crops do not absorb the fertiliser one
hundred percent. They only absorbs a portion of the fertilisers leaving some remaining in the soil.
When the fertiliser goes into the water, micro organism can grow like algae. This can cause
eutrophication because the algae grows faster on the fertiliser washed into the sea. This can cause
the algae to take up a lot of oxygen from the water. This can cause lack of oxygen in the water for
the fish, suffocating the fish that lives in the area. The ecosystem will be disturbed due to the large
numbers of death of
Obstetric Fistula
As intern doctors we are often told that a diagnosis of obstetric fistula can be made on first contact
with the patient, based on the smell due to incontinence. This rather callous method of diagnosis is
an indication of the effects of obstetric fistula; women are ostracized and ill treated.
Few specialized doctors were competent in management of Obstetric fistula at the University
Teaching Hospital at the time and the client waiting was long, filled with women that travel far to
get treatment at great cost.
Flash forward a few years and I was posted as senior doctor to one of the far places these fistula
patients came from. Our fistula patients presented months after delivery, the diagnosis often missed
with some not presenting at all. Fortunately,
The Social Media And Communications Industry Essay
In the social media and communications industry, many companies began on a small scale and
progressed to improve their product by merging with a new company to create a stronger product
and expand their market internationally while some businesses remained in North America and did
not merge with other companies but settled for the status quo. In this paper, I will discuss two
companies that chose different paths and the pros and cons of the business decisions each company
made. Mark Zuckerberghad a vision to create change. He has always said that was his goal. What
he created is one of the most groundbreaking forms of social networking in history. Facebook
began in 2004 and eventually made Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire. What began as an idea with
his friends from Harvard University, is now one of the most famous companies in the world. He
wanted to change the way people communicate, so he and his friends designed an original internet
platform called Facemash in 2003 which was just available to Harvard students. This served their
purpose for a while and for two years students were able to communicate and share ideas within their
school community. Soon it expanded to include other colleges in the Northeast and California.
Zuckerberg had strong leadership skills and being a Harvard educated student prepared him to be
successful in business. He was well known on campus and was quite an influential student leader. He
decided that just serving university students wasn t

Difference Between Normative And Informational Social...
Normative and informational social influence Normative influence primarily occurs in situations
where an individual, when amidst others in a crowd, tend to go along with them primarily in order
to be liked and accepted by them as part of their fraternity. Research has identified that normative
inference normally occurs as an inborn human nature as human beings tends to associate themselves
with others in order to maintain a good social contact and relationship with them. Ideally, normative
influence is normally furthered by the need for an individual to increase their chances of surviving
especially during adverse conditions. This entails that people may at times seem to agree with others
just in order for them to appease themselves to them and avoid potential conflict of standing alone
and standing out. In some situations normative influence may occur where individuals associate
with complete strangers. In such cases, due to mutual fear for each other, an individual may
naturally try to agree with the rest in order to avoid appearing as contradictory or controversial. On
the other hand, informational social influence involves situations where an individual may choose to
agree with others, especially the majority, due to high levels of trust that the majority have more
social power through information and knowledge regarding a particular issue as compared to the
individual on him/herself. In addition, in situations of crisis, people also tend to associate and exhibit
