The Day Canada Became a Nation Essay
In World War I, the victory of the Allies was caused by the turning point of a stalemate on the
Western Front of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. It was the Canadians willingness to forgo nationalism in
the interests of efficiency and effectiveness that marked a new (Dickson 40) transition of the ending
of war. Through the second battle of Ypres, the Battle of Aras, and observing the previous bloodbath
at the Battle of The Somme, the Canadian Expeditionary Force (C.E.F) perfected their defense
tactics and techniques to fight in the evolutionary battle that made Canadaa nation.
When Great Britain declared war on Germany in 1914, the Dominion of Canada was automatically
motivated to mobilize. Nationalism and determination got Prime ... Show more content on

The entire shipment of 22,000 shovels which had cost the government over $29,000 was sold off
as scrap in 1917 for $1,400. 2 Other weaponry included colt machine guns and even Canadian
made boots, ...many of which fell apart in the rain of Salisbury Plain, were all criticized and
eventually replaced with British issue (Dickson 35). The C.E.F battle tactics were renewed and
artillery was adopted throughout the course of 1914 to 1916, bringing success to the Battle of Vimy
Ridge. On 22 April 1915 the second Battle of Ypres established the reputation of the Canadians
being a fighting force. This was created through the Ypres Salient, which is where the British and
allied line pushed into the German line in a concave bend. The Germans held the higher ground and
were able to fire into the allied trenches from the north, the south and the east, but the Allies
prearranged defense strategies: On the Canadian right was the British Expeditionary Force, and on
their left was the 48th Algerian and 87th Territoral French, which were militia regiment enlisted into
service a French division.3 On April 22 the Germans sought to remove the Salient by introducing a
new weapon of modern warfare poison gas. Following an intensive artillery bombardment, they
released 160 tons of chlorine gas from cylinders dug into the forward edge of their trenches into a
light northeast wind.4 As thick clouds of yellow green chlorine drifted over their trenches the French

The Number Of Honey Bees
The number of Honey Bees that are rapidly decreasing is something that is very important but
highly under discussed. Honey Bees are essential to the food that we consume. About one third of
all the food we eat in a day was pollinated by bees. Due to many factors, including pesticides and
loss of habitat bees are disappearing at alarming rates every day. A pesticide that is used mainly in
the U.S. called Neonicotinoids have alarming effects on bees. These pesticides are absorbed in all
parts of the plants, making the pollen dangerous for bees. These pesticides affect the bees
neurological system, making it harder for them to remember which plants to get pollen from and
pollinate. Without bees, the cross pollination of plants would be very hard.

An Exploration Of The Pepcon Disaster And Its Aftermath
An Exploration of the PEPCON Disaster And Its Aftermath What began as normal repair work at
the Pacific Engineering and Production Company of Nevada (PEPCON) in May of 1988, resulted
in devastation. PEPCON was one of two manufacturing facilities of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP),
located in Clark County, NV, approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Las Vegas (Lilley,
2012). AP is an oxidizer that when combined with aluminum makes the base for solid state rocket
fuel (Dunbar, 2006). Due to the recent Space Shuttle Challengerdisaster, all space exploration by
NASA was halted, and a stockpile of around 4,000 tons of AP built up and was stored onsite (Lilley,
2012). The disaster was caused by repair work done after high winds damaged the... Show more

4). Each of these materials is makes AP act as a class A explosive as explained in Appendix B.
Also, within many buildings at the PEPCON facility, dust control was either minimal or
nonexistent, while cleaning was only performed before safety inspections (Lambert Alvares, 2003,
p.7). This led to massive AP buildups on all flat surfaces which it is assumed exasperated the
situation further once the fire started (Lambert Alvares, 2003, p.7). The incredibly risky storage
practices of this powerful oxidizer made PEPCON a disaster waiting to happen.
The Facility And Its Safety Features The PEPCON facility was broken up into multiple buildings,
the most important of which to this incident is the batch drying building located in the southwest
portion of the facility (map of PEPCON is attached as Appendix A) (Routley, n.d., p. 22). The
batch dryer was used to blend and dry AP to prepare it for final packing, however, this facility was
not suitable for this work due to its construction. The building was constructed of combustible
fiberglass with steel supports (Routley, n.d., p.8). AP residue built up on the fiberglass and
accelerated the fire out of control once it started (Routley, n.d., p.8). This risk was known by
PEPCON as there had been previous fires in this building, however nothing was done to deter future
fires (Case
Raising Children In The Twenty First Century
Raising kids in the twenty first century challenges parents more than ever. Culture calls out to kids,
wanting to form them, while many parents want their kids to grow up with a biblical background
and faith based set of values. So how can a parent ride against the tide of culture to raise strong kids
with strong faith? Church attendance certainly makes a different, but parents need to be parents, and
they need to use the resources that we have available today.
Consult your local Christian book store, or even the Christian section of a secular book store. You
will be amazed at the resources out there that can give you the answers you need to help raising your
children.
Both parents should seek out additional resources. Many times just the
Understanding The Control Quality Control
ENTERPRISES PROJECT MANAGEMENT
REFLECTIVE JOURNAL #3
UNIT 4 QUALITY CONTROL
NAME SARABDEEP SINGH STUDENT ID C0661489 COURSE EPM 2092 PROFESSOR BOB
XOURAFUS
MOTIVE The main objective of studying this unit is to understand the control quality process. In
addition to this, we will also study in depth the seven basic quality tools that are data table,
Histogram, Pareto Diagram, scatter diagram, trend analysis and run chart.
REFLECTION as per EPM 2092 study notes provided by Bob, Control quality is a process
monitoring and recording the results of execution of quality activities to access the performance and
recommending necessary changes. In other words, during quality control process the project team
will analyze project results (which includes both deliverables and the management processes
followed) to meet the specific quality standards and if something is wrong (that means it is not
meeting the quality standards set by the stakeholders and organization as written in project
management plan) then make it under control by taking corrective, preventive or defect repair
action. In addition to this we will to make use of quality tools and techniques which will help us to
analyze if the project results are meeting the quality standards.
