Science Quarterly (Wiley Blackwell). Dec2004, Vol. 85 Issue 5, p1193 1207. 15p. 1 Chart. This
study focuses on the Columbine shooting back in 1999. It examines how the school shooting
problem was defined, and how it was focused by both the news media and the congress. This was
one of the first shootings that was covered so much by the news and it shocked all of America
because it was so difficult to understand. Little did we know this was the first main shooting that
would unfortunately lead to many more shootings in the years to come. 2. BRAMBLE, LINDSAY.

This study brings up the connections of the mass shooting over the past years and now many of
them have mental illnesses. This study breaks down the gun control laws related to people with
mental illnesses. This also has cases about parents who contacted the authorities when their
children had thoughts of acting out but no one did anything about it until they had already done
so. This study explains a lot about how it reformed laws and added laws as more shootings
happened and it explains why these laws were made or changed. 3. McGinty, Emma E.; Webster,

with mental illnesses. People had problems with people with serious mental illnesses. They also
raised support for gun control policies. By doing this it shows that people felt there was a threat
from all people with mental illnesses. It was concluded that aftermaths of mass shootings is often
viewed as an opportunity to increase gun control. This study also increased the negative attitudes of
the people with mental illnesses. 4. Hodge, James G.; Nelson, Kellie. Journal of Law, Medicine

The Rise Of Witch Hunting
The disenchantment of the world marks something of a significant of moment in history. A time
when the disbelief in witches grew to the size where it ended the persecution and execution of
witches. Leaving behind an age of the supernatural and giving wake to the Age of Enlightenment.
The Age of Enlightenment was a time of great scientific strides for mankind. Is it a coincidence that
this also happens to be the time in which we see a significant decline in the witch hunting? As the
beliefs surrounding magic and the supernatural begin their shift more towards skepticism it is worth
noting some of the other factors that are believed to have come into play when talking about the
decline in witchcraftpersecutions. However, without substantial proof of how these other factors
played a direct role on the decline of witch prosecutions it seems as though the only thing we know
for certain is that the enlightenment played its part in changing the mindset of a great number
people and helped to bring an end to the number of witches brought to execution.
It should be taking into account that this paper is not meant to speculate on whether or not the
existence of witches was or is real and the existence of such people will be conceived as real for the
purpose of the essay. The goal of this paper is strictly to determine what was the cause of decline in
witch prosecutions and executions during the time of the seventeenth and eighteenth century, where
we have the last recorded trials
Holden Caulfield Duality
Holden Caulfield s Duality of Truth I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff I
mean if they re running and they don t look where they re going I have to come out from
somewhere and catch them (Salinger 187). The responsibility of attempting to help innocent
children be aware of the real world is all lying on a young man named Holden Caulfield. In J.D.
Salinger s The Catcher in the Rye, always analyzing the ugly truth of people seems to be the biggest
agonize that this young man has. Being a conflicted teenager while struggling with his anxiety of
growing up in a real world with a bunch of pathetic morons and bastards is not stopping him from
attempting to save the humanity of it. The author reveals different characterizations... Show more

The characterization of vulnerability is quite important within the novel, for it shows that no
matter how strong or tough Holden seems to act in the many adventures that he undergoes, he
will forever feel helpless and defenseless when attempting to prevent others from feeling the same
way as he has always felt. In The Psychological Structure of The Catcher in the Rye, James Bryan,
language and literature writer, explains how [Holden] is hypersensitive to the exploitations and
insensitivity of the post pubescent world and to the fragile innocence of children (Bryan 1065).
Being vulnerable leads Holden to wanting the best for children that have no clue of what the real
world is really like. Growing up, he flashbacks to the times that s people continuously attempt to
give him advise about what is to come, but continuously not taking it. By the end of the book, and
all of the stories he has yet to tell the readers, we now truly understand why he is so vulnerable to
the true meaning of life. Holden never straight out allows the readers to sense what kind of
person he truly is. He continuously puts up a front that makes the readers think that every man is
for himself, and that life is a hard obstacle that may or may not be overcome. Besides acting
tough, Holden thinks to himself a lot. When doing this, the readers get to experience his inner
thoughts and feelings to the events that happened in the real world, his real world. When viewing
life behind the main character s eyes, the readers are able to get a glimpse that Holden is hurting
in a way that he cannot control. Even though Holden is older than his younger sister, by having the
conversation with her at the end of the book, he finally realizes what his meaning of life is
supposed to be fulfilled for, and being vulnerable is not going to

Police Brutality Against Young Black Men Essay
Sandra Bland, Mike Brown, and Tamir Rice these are just some of the names of the unarmed
Black people whose lives were taken by police officers in the last year. The alarming rate at which
young Black men and women are being killed is evidence that their lives are not held with high
regard. Police brutality against young Black men and women has been perpetrated at alarming rates.
Yet, we have not seen much, if any, consequences or responsibility taken by the policemen
committing these crimes. Often times, the families of these young men and women who, because of
their race, have been killed by police officers have not seen any justice, instead the names of their
loved ones go from headlines to outdated hashtags. Not only do young Black men and women
face the chance of being criminalized on the street, but also such targeting begins at a young age
in institutions that are typically regarded as safe places , such as the classroom. We see evidence
of this in the way students are racially profiled and in the growing number of protests that are
currently being held on college campuses nationwide. While it may seem as though we live in a
post racial society, since overt racism, such as legalized segregation, is a thing of the past,
institutionalized racism, a system that distributes opportunities based on the racial hierarchy, still
remains and is deeply rooted in our education system, which inhibits any potential academic success
by restricting resources and criminalizing
Measuring Academic Procrastination in Australian...
Procrastination is an important individual difference construct that affects many areas of life, from
health care (delaying important medical visits or exercise) to finance (dealing with financial troubles
like credit card debt), to academic arenas. Procrastination, has been defined as the act of needlessly
delaying tasks to the point of experiencing subjective discomfort or putting off that which is
necessary to reach some goal (Lay, 1986, p474). Procrastination has been associated with
maladaptive behaviours and outcomes including anxiety, depression, stress, illness and low self
efficacy (Schouwenburg, 1995; Klassen, 2008). Academic procrastination, a unique form of
procrastination, has had minimal research compared to other psychological constructs. And as far as
the author is aware there has been no research on academic procrastination in the Australian
University context. A reliable scale measuring academic procrastination in Australian undergraduate
students is needed for the purpose of research in to theoretical foundations of academic
procrastination, who procrastinates, the reasons why, the implications, and so as to advance
understanding of this construct. In a meta analytic and theoretical review of procrastination, it was
estimated that between 80 95% of undergraduates experience problematic academic procrastination,
with up to 30% experiencing severe procrastination (Steel, 2007). Considering the effect of
procrastination on the general, work and academic
Clothes By Sumitra
Out of the two stories we read my favorite story was Clothes, I found this story interesting because
of the Latin culture. I found the Indian culture to be far more complex and beautiful than I knew
before. The short story starts off with a young girl named Sumita. Sumitra is a young woman from
India, her parents along with the rest of the Indian culture set up marriages for their daughters to
continue their lives. Sumitas parents had made an arrangement for their daughter to marry Somesh
and to live their lives in a different country to find happiness. Later into the story we find out that she
starts to like him but there is never any signs that she loves him. Even though they are deep in their
culture, Sumita and Somesh
Case Study On Boeing
Question 1
Why is Boeing contemplating the launch of the 7E7 project? Is this a good time to do so?

We can see from the case study that Boeing and Airbus in 2002 dominated the large plane market.
Whilst it was in competition with Airbus, Boeing was falling behind and in 2002 Airbus was set to
launch the A380 set to be the largest passenger aircraft ever built. The demand for commercial
aircrafts of this size was positive. Boeing s investment into the future through research and
development could result in increased efficiency.

Boeing was seen as a leader of the commercial aircraft industry; however, it must be noted that as
explained in the case study air travel in influenced by business cycles, consumer confidence and
exogenous events, and at the time of consideration there were a number of factors going against the
launch of the 7E7 project. War, SARS and terrorism; the September 11 attacks using commercial
airplanes added to the challenges already presented.

Looking at all the factors we must accept that these challenges are short term and when reviewing
the long term lifecycle through the 20 year predicted forecast the timing shows a healthy long term
outlook that will continue into the future.

Question 2
a. What is an appropriate required rate of return against which to evaluate the prospective IRRs from
the Boeing 7E7?

Hiller states that when the IRR is positive, the basic financial theory implies that the Board should
accept the project, however, we know
Nuclear Power Pros And Cons
To the citizens of the great new country of Finklegrizziz, I, as your honored President, have come
to a decision that we should allow nuclear power in this fine country. For those who may not know
what nuclear power is, it is a type of power that requires uranium in addition to heat and steam to
create power through fission. In more simple terms, nuclear energy is created from mining a readily
available and easily obtained mineral rock (uranium) and then when combined with a scientific
process (fission), becomes a clean and safe form of power. There are many pros and cons to this
type of power, and I have spent countless hours reviewing this information in order to be make the
best decision for our country. We will start off talking about some of the pros of this type of power,
which include that it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel this is a much better source to depend on for our power supply rather than a power source that
requires fossil fuels, which are nonrenewable and pollute the atmosphere. In the long run, this will
help our city by providing the same amount, if not more energy compared to fossil fuel power plants
and again keeping the air clean for the citizens of Finklegrizziz. My second and final reason I will
share today in regards to allowing nuclear energy, is that while the plants initially may be more
expensive to build, they will actually cost much less than normal energy sources in the long run.
This is due to the fact, as mentioned before, that uranium can be mined and is more readily
available to obtain. Also, while there is hazardous material that will need to be stored offsite in
secure locations away from the general population, this is still less expensive to carry out than the
operation of other traditional energy sources. My sincere desire is that you will understand why I
have made the decision to allow nuclear power for the people of this great
Morals In Toy Story 2
I remember growing up, watching Pixar movies with my family. Their bright colors and playful
characters were perfect for entertaining us children and even the adults. I always wanted to
watch Toy Story 2 directed by John Lasseter because I was afraid of the first film. What really got
me was the scene where they met all of Sid s creepy creations, especially the baby head. Though
when I was older and no longer afraid, I realized how much meaning there really was in Toy Story. It
even holds great morals that can reflect on some of the rules from Choosing Civility written by P.
M. Forni. Woody at first was very unsure of Buzz and did not like him because he was now the
cool one and Buzz had a few of his own problems that Woody tried to help him with including
thinking he was real and not a toy but through their adventures they learned that they needed to work
together to get back to their favorite kid, Andy.
To start with, Pixar has an amazing way of hiding morals in its movies, the spectacular thing
about that is that kids will be learning without even realizing it. Toy Story has a main Character
named Woody and his role is to take care of the rest of the toys in the room, kind of as the mayor.
This seemed to work well but when a new toy comes to town he feels like his dominance is
threatened and basically goes primal trying to get rid of him by running him over with the RC car.
This shows how unhealthy jealousy really is when everyone else didn t care that he was
Police Misconduct Research Paper
Abstract
Police misconduct and corruption are abuses of police authority. Sometimes used interchangeably,
the terms refer to a wide range of procedural, criminal, and civil violations. Misconduct is the
broadest category. Misconduct is procedural when it refers to police who violate police departments
rules and regulations; criminal when it refers to police who violate state and federal laws;
unconstitutional when it refers to police who violate a citizen s civil rights; or any combination
thereof. Common forms of misconduct are excessive use of physical or deadly force, discriminatory
arrest, physical or verbal harassment, and selective enforcement of the law.
