Ping Sweep And Port Scan Essay
In today s world the criminals come in different forms. One could say we live in the technological
age and this means that threats are not only physical but virtual as well. Hackers can now steal your
personal information from data being sent over cyberspace. If you are not careful and take necessary
precautions then people with ill intent and computerintelligence can make your life miserable. Two
ways hackers can accomplish this are called ping sweeps and port scans. A ping sweep is a simple
scanning technique used to determine which of a range of specific IP addresses connect to what
device. In contrast, a single ping will tell you whether one specified host computer exists on the
network, a ping sweep consists of ECHO requests sent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A port scan can be used for benign reasons as they are tool for network administrators to see what
services are running on the machine. The scan sends a signal to each port one at a time and
depending on the type of response the port is deemed open or closed. A port scan is a method
used by intruders to discover the services running on a target machine. It allows the attacked to
see which ports are more vulnerable than others. It is equivalent to a burglar or thief canvassing a
whole neighborhood to see which houses are less protected and more vulnerable. There are ways
to defend yourselves from this type of attack but it requires one to assume that you are vulnerable
completely. No one machine on a network is completely safe from an intruder. There are numerous
products that can help protect you from these types of intrusions but simply turning your unused
services off can be the biggest step toward securing your ports. For example, in a Windows XP
platform you would click on start, then run, type services.msc without the quotes, and click ok.
After that a list of services will appear (Facts, 2014). Then you would choose which services to
disable and you re
What Are The Stereotypes In The Avengers
Later in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in The Avengers, Tony has more than a few issues due
to his narcissistic nature. First, it s with him when first consulted about joining the Avengers I
didn t even qualify.... apparently I m volatile, self obsessed, don t play well with others, ( The
Avengers 00:15:45 00:15:59). Later in an argument, Captain America says how he views Tony by
saying Yeah, big man in a suit of armor. Take that off, what are you?.... I know guys with none of
that worth ten of you. I ve seen the footage. The only thing you really fight for is yourself, ( The
Avengers 01:23:16 01:24:12). These are expository statements within the film, because it is what the
writers are trying to make the watcher think. They go out and blatantly state that these are qualities
in him. Tony is selfish, he doesn t play well with others, he just wants to have the show all to
himself. The writer by doing this is contributing to the stereotype of gifted people, when given
attention, as being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He on multiple occasions, has done morally wrong and horrific acts that include, poisoning
children with Mercury lined chocolates, forcing jury nullification for his own trial, and
continuously having no regard for society s norms as a whole. His disregard for ethical and moral
manners is greatly shown in an interaction with Sherlock Holmes where when being told People
have died, Moriarty responds with That s what People DO! showing his blatant disregard for
others and the world around him(Sherlock S01E03 01:20:12 01:26 23). This morally abhorrent
attitude shows that the writers were trying to show he doesn t care, he s evil for kicks and the rest
of the world is a joke to him. Through doing this, the writers contribute to the stereotype of the
gifted being seen as an evil
1984 Vs Eurasia
Undoubtedly, Eurasia is George Orwell s image of what a totalitarian society is and how he
thinks it would feel to live in such a country. However, it would not take much imagination to
think of such a society, especially being as 1984 was written only four years after North Korea
officially split from South Korea. Whether or not this is a coincidence, North Korea and Eurasia
have many similar characteristics, such as their focus on spreading propaganda, their treatment of
citizens and government workers, and their rewriting of history. The telescreen is one of the most
recognizable objects from 1984, but the idea of an item that endlessly spews out propaganda is not
too far off from what actually happens in North Korea. Not only does nearly every North Korean
home have a speaker, but that speaker, much like the telescreen in 1984, cannot be turned off, only
turned down. This speaker is commonly called The Third Broadcast. These two forms of
broadcasting systems are not only similar in physical characteristics and usage, but the propaganda
that comes from them is also eerily similar. Along with propaganda, both the telescreen and the
speakers announce news, such as the telescreen, which had someone reading out,... Show more

While almost the entirety of the outside world would agree that North Korea has done nothing to
help their citizens, their own government would claim that they liberated their people from the rest
of the world, much like the Party, claimed, of course, to have liberated the Proles from bondage
(163). While what the Party and the North Korean claimed to have liberated their low class citizens
from different problems, the parallels are still quite undeniable. However, there are many other
similar features between North Korea and

Scarlet Begonias/Fire on the Mountain Essay

Michael Peller has been a fan of the Grateful Dead for as long as he can remember. As a child, he
listened to their albums on cassette tapes in the car, and as a college student, he attended live
performances.
The Grateful Dead debuted in 1965 in Palo Alto, CA. It was known for its eclectic, psychedelic rock
style, which was sculpted amid the San Franciscan countercultural movement of the 1960s. The
movement gained speed alongside the civil rights movement and hippie culture. The Grateful Dead
embraced these new beliefs in their songwriting, rejecting common structure by adopting the jam
genre, which is based off of live improvisation.
Mike s favorite Grateful Dead songs, Scarlet Begonias and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

However, the parts of the song that most affected Mike Peller were the allusions to and imagery
of the 70s. The song s story follows a young man, walking around the local square, who is
entranced by a young woman with scarlet begonias tucked into her curls (Grateful Dead). She
also had rings on her fingers and bells on her shoes, a line that has stuck with Mike because of
how the image reminds him of the 70s, and as an extension, the ideas of freedom and being
carefree. Mike doesn t have much of an opinion about the lyrics of Fire on the Mountain , but he
does love the rhythm and the bass guitar because it just makes anybody want to dance (Michael
Peller). However, I found the lyrics to be meaningful in ways related to Mike s enjoyment of the
song. The line, fire, fire on the mountain , is repeated throughout the song, and almost sounds like
an urgent call for help. Despite this, the beat and music rolls on. The song pokes fun at a long
distance runner who continues to make and dance to music even as a dragon with matches is loose
on the town . But when fans dance to the music live at a concert, the lyrics take on a different
meaning: on how even as everything is burning down, the fans keep dancing and the Grateful Dead

Education Is The Key For Financial Security
I have always believed that having an education would cause me to do better in life. That if I tried
my best to achieve great grades I would succeed in life irrespective to my being Black and female.
My grandmother is the person who instilled these values into me. As a dark skinned Black woman
who was born in Virginia during the early forties, she still managed to do very well in life. She
bought her first house before she was thirty, worked on Wall Street and in the New York City
Public School System. She has always believed that education is the key to ending poverty. I also
looked to other family members of mine who used education as a means to do better in life. For
me, education is the key to overall financial security. However, I ve noticed time and time again
many of my peers argue otherwise. My peers believe that having an education will not change their
lives and that being born privileged is the key to financial security. Although I do believe that some
people have to work harder than others in order achieve, I wonder what caused this new thought
process amongst America s youth, especially Black Americans. The idea that education is irrelevant
and the outcome of their lives has already been decided for them because of their race.

While reading, Education, Faith and the Promise of Equality by Manning Marable I began thinking
about my family why so many Black Americans believe education to be almost worthless. I found
that the reason is because most Black
Why I Hate Christmas Essay
Why I hate Christmas

I despise Christmas and I always will! this was a common monologue I had with my lonely self
around this time of year. I continued on my daily evening saunter, in the bitter, cold air, gazing at
the children on the other side of the fence playing outdoors in the mounds of white snow.
Joyously appearing as if layering ten garments for the sake of stepping outside was to be fun. I
would like to believe that I do not envy the children with happy childhoods and amorous families,
but I know dejectedly, I still do. You could call me a Grinch during this time of year I guess. But
overall, I find the holiday of Christmas extremely irritating and obnoxious. I returned to my
desolate room that I have had to call my home for the last couple of years, but I presume I would
have no choice. Lonesome, once ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I had had a very wonderful dream that night. I was a child once again, filled with bliss and
contentment. My entire family and I were all together having a splendid time at Central Park on
Christmas Eve. We were all together singing Carols, building snow men, and opening gifts
together... I don t remember the last time I saw my family. Sad, but I guess better for me at the
same time. My family members were not the best people, I guess you could say, but somewhere
in my heart I know I still love them. I look around my cage at plain concrete walls. Steel bars,
doors, and a toilet. It s all a man needs, right? How I have endured this same, drab room for all this
time and not gone crazy I would really like to know. I look over at my calendar hanging by the
window. It s Christmas Eve once again. People are elatedly rushing around malls picking out last
minute Christmas gifts to put a smile on children s faces. While I m here... isolated... staring out the
small, spherical window in my cell, struggling to remember how life was back when I was
