Mandating Seat Belt Usage vs. Freedom of Choice Essay example
Mandating Seat Belt Usage vs. Freedom of Choice SOC120: Introduction to Ethics and Social
Responsibilities 1 How do you feel when you are told what you will or will not do? You may be
told that it is for your own good, but who has the right to decide what is or is not good for you?
After all who knows you better than you do? This brings me to the topic of my discussion. Even
though there are some statistics that may show a lower rate of injury or death if you wear a seat
belt when in an automobile accident, I do not feel that the government has the right to make
wearing a seat belt mandatory for adults because by making seat belts mandatory it takes away from
our right to freedom of choice, and wearing a seat... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That no one has the right to decide what is right for them, and that no one should be able to
mandate what they have to or do not have to do. This topic is no different to them than say, flying
in an airplane. No one tells them that they have to fly in an airplane, which requires putting their
life at risk, yet they themselves make the decision to do so or not. According to our text,
Utilitarianism evaluates whether an act is right or wrong in terms of the act s consequences, and
argues that, given a set of choices, the act we should choose is that which produces the best results
for the greatest number affected by that choice. To break it down even further, the rule utilitarian
contends that one should do things that, as a rule, generate the greatest good for the greatest
number (Mosser, K, 2010). I believe this to be the philosophy that the government has taken into
account when establishing the seat belt mandate laws. They, being those who make these types of
laws, are in fact looking out for what they believe is the greater good for the majority involved.
They are not taking into account our god given freedom to make these types of choices for
ourselves. On the other hand, those who oppose the passage of this law error on the ethical egoism
philosophy. This philosophy argues that our moral evaluations should be made in terms of our
desires and goals. Something that promotes what I want is regarded as right; something that
Essay Stress
In years past, careers were milestones, which demonstrated successful accomplishments within our
lives. Men utilized their careers to stake claim in society; a way to categorize their family s worth.
Honey, I ll be working late tonight sometimes signified that the gang would have a long evening of
crunching numbers, entertaining clients, or even smoking cigarswith the boss while talking shop. If
life went according to plan, and you chose the perfect career, the worst part of your workday would
be choosing the best tie to match your navy pinstripe suit. Well, things have certainly changed.
Careersare no longer guaranteed based on who ya know concepts.
Today, young men and women both prepare frantically in high school to have the ... Show more

Stressors are a sort of stimulus that encourages a stressful response. In the workplace, stressors
can vary depending on the personality type, organizations climate, management s behavior and
other variables (Lussier, 2005). For example, loud noises in a manufacturing plant or warehouse
may play a role in creating a stressful day for a laborer. Whereas, delivering two sets of twin in one
day may increase the stress level of a nurse or obstetrician.
How stress is handled by an individual is related to their personality type: Type A or Type B. A
Type A personality is fast moving, hard driving, time conscious, competitive, impatient, and
preoccupied with work (Lussier, 2005). Type B is the exact opposite. In this case, a Type A
personality may be prone to encounter more stressful situations than someone of the opposite
personality type, because of the tendency for a Type A person to be overly active. A Type A
personality would probably choose a career that is very demanding and creates a challenging and
changing work schedule. Because of the desire to be active, such a career will inevitably increase a
Type A personality s stress level. However, just because a Type B personality would assume be a
slow paced, laid back, and less active person, stress can also play a major role within their work
environment. A Type B personality may create
The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy ( Cbt ) Course
In the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) course, I have gained numerous skills and knowledge
that will serve me in the field of social work. I acquired a new way to view and evaluate clients
treatment as well as several different CBT interventions. In this paper, I will review the accuracy of
my case conceptualization and discuss effective and ineffective class activities. Furthermore, I will
evaluate my ability to incorporate the client s strengths and culture as well as reflect on my
professional growth. My case conceptualization provided adequate background information on the
hypothetical client, however I failed to add information regarding the client s father. As I revaluate
the case conceptualization, it would have been beneficial to add details pertaining to her thoughts
and emotions towards her uncle and brother. In the case, I wrote that her uncle and brother teased
her and called her names. I included detailes about the uncle and brother s behavior, but it would
have behooved me to include her thoughts and emotion related to these situations. This information
would have assisted with completing several of the class assignments, as I would have used these
situations and thoughts as a starting point. I did include information on her thoughts and emotions
regarding her angry behavior and hospitalizations, but I feel this information did not provide enough
insight for the case as a whole. Completing the activities during class was a very helpful as it allowed

My Experience At The YMCA
During my experience at the YMCA, there were things that I did not know but learned. For
instance, I previously worked at the YMCA in their Safe Sound program but I did not the history
behind the organization and what the acronym meant. I was not really surprised by the YMCA s
services since I worked there but I was surprised where the organization was first established and
how much it has grown over the years. It is really unbelievable how much YMCA brings people
together regardless of their background and age. However, I believe the best part of visiting the
YMCA is the insight that Becky gave us, on the disability services that they provide along with her
personal experience working with them. Based on what Becky said, it seems like
O A And Mad Max Analysis
D.O.A and Mad Max are thought provoking films with unique plots and characters who make you
feel sympathetic towards their situation. Even though both films have a diverse setting and time
period, similar ideas can be found between the two. That being said, with such differing plots it is
also fairly easy to find contrasts between the films.
D.O.A was directed by Rudolph Maté and the film was released in 1949 by United Artists. D.O.A
reveals the story of Frank Bigelow, who in a police station recounts the events that led to his
murder through a luminous toxin. The story is told in a large flashback as he describes his
journey from his home in Banning, California to San Francisco. In San Francisco, he plans to
have a solo vacation away from his secretary/ girlfriend Paula Gibson. This all changes when he is
poisoned by an unknown assailant with a luminous toxin that will kill him in a matter of days.
After hearing the devastating news, he sets out to uncover the mystery of why he was poisoned.
After gathering information from various sources, Frank learns that he has been targeted because
he knows about a bill of sale which he had notarized. Knowing such information could potentially
jeopardize a cover up of a murder that was framed as a suicide. After revealing the final pieces of his
story to the police, Frank Bigelow dies at the station while uttering his finals words Paula . He is
pronounced D.O.A by the police.
Mad Max was directed by George Miller and the film was
