Short Story Of 1946-1952 Prison Time
1946 1952 Prison Time
Malcolm was arrested and sentenced ten years in jail as he was charged for larceny (theft of
personal property). In this time he decided he would get an education. Malcolm was constantly
reading books for the jail library, trying to make up for the years he missed after dropping out of
High School. He was visited by siblings that told him stories of joining the Nation of Islam and just
before Malcolm was released he joined his siblings in this group. Malcolm also decided to neglect
his last name little , due to being considered a relic of slavery and adopted X as his new surname.

1952 1954 The beginning of Nation of Islam

Malcolm would create many violence towards them but on the other hand, the black people were
worried that Malcolm X had destroyed the militancy effect of non violent in Nation of Islam.
Malcolm X then became a representative for the Nation of Islam, he traveled to Middle East,

The Thin Red Line Analysis
The Man in a Soldier
A crocodile slips into the murky, algae covered waters just before a voice with philosophical
thoughts ponders the war in the heart of nature. Soon after, a chorus from the heavens provides a
hymn to signify the peace among the natives of this unknown land. But the year is 1942 and the
world is at war. How can there be any peace? The opening scene for The Thin Red Line by
Terrence Malick sets the stage for what is to come: an anti war film with philosophical questions
posed by the men inside the soldiers of Charlie Company.
However, these philosophical questions seemed to fly right over my head and were too abstract
to be effective. I decided to watch The Thin Red Line to have an understanding of the events of
the Guadalcanal Campaign. What I received was a semi immersive experience of war. The angle
of some of the scenes made it feel as if I was right there with the company in the tall grass trying to
fight back the enemy. But these events of combat seemed to act as a secondary focus of the film.
The main focus always seems to turn itself back on the quote mentioned earlier, the war in the heart
of nature. In 1998, The Thin Red Line and another film titled Saving Private Ryan by Steven
Spielberg came out to showcase the Pacific Theater and the European Theater, respectively. The
imagery created for a wounded soldier in Saving Private Ryan would be scenes of agony filled with
blood. The Thin Red Line contrasts this imagery and focuses on nature
Joseph Hayden s String Band Essay
Joseph Haydn was one of the most acclaimed composers of the Classical Era. Known as the father
of the string quartet, he has created music that is withstanding the test of time and only becoming
more eminent in today s choice of literature. Hayden s String Quartet in C Major, Op. 74, No. 1,
Movement III, is one of so many that deserve a closer look and a keen eye to decipher. The use of
elements such as balance, harmonic closure, form and modulations are easy to look over at first
glance. However, through active listening and chordanalysis, it becomes easier to absorb the
material and thoroughly appreciate the masterpiece. While looking at the bigger picture, we can
see that the overall form of the piece is ternary with smaller binary sections within. The entire
beginning Menuetto section can be considered an A section, which would make the Trio the B
section. This is considered ternary because after both sections have been completed, the A section
is repeated once again (without its internal repeats) and ends on a strong tonic cadence without
continuing on to the B section. The A section contains a binary form in itself. This is easily visible
with the use of repeat signs from measure 1 14 (a) and then signifies b from measures 15 60 (also
the end of A). Although beginning material is repeated in this b section, in measures 32 39, Hayden
takes the piece elsewhere with a small scale tonicization of a bVI chord and continuing on in a
different manner than a.
Film Analysis Of The Graduate And Annie Hall
Before the 1960s there were plenty of films made. In the 1950s things began to change for, in my
opinion, the better. It started with a new form of acting called method acting that encouraged
improvisation. This was key because it gave actors more control over their characters which allowed
for more realistic representations of characters allowing audiences to connect better to the film.
Having more control over a character is something that I found vital because it adds an even deeper
element to the film as a whole. Another important thing added in the 1950s was the addition of
subject matters and themes that focused on ordinary individuals. This was important again because
it added another element to the films that audiences could connect to. In the 1960s there was even
more change to the film industry. For example, there was a new focus on youth, with psychological
character studies of offbeat anti heroes. More explicit presentation of sexuality, violence and drug
use on screen. Rebellion vs. the American mainstream, with new values and points of view. Self
conscious use of cinematic effects, reflecting European influence and new twists on old film genre.
These new changes can be seen in cinematic and thematic elements in films including The Graduate
and Annie Hall. To start this film analysis, we ll start with The Graduate directed by Mike Nichols.
Cinematically there were a lot of things added in this film that shows these new features added to
films in the

Neolithic Revolution Key Concepts
Key Concept 1.2. The Neolithic Revolution and Early Agricultural Societies

II. Agriculture and pastoralism began to transform human societies.

B. Technological innovations led to improvements in agricultural production, trade, and
transportation. Pottery improved agricultural production because it gave a way to store a surplus of
food. As agriculture continued to develop, pots were used to store foods and wines. For example, in
China the pots were used for storage and for religious purposes referring to afterlife.
Plows were a very useful tool in early agriculture. They turned the soil which led to less work done
by the workers to prepare for planting. The plow was very beneficial because it led to a surplus of

It provided tools for other jobs such as farming and weapons. Bronze was a major breakthrough for
metallurgy because it allowed for the creation of useful weapons and developed agriculture.
The wheel was invented by people in Mesopotamia , which later allowed for the transport of goods
and trades. The Hitties also later developed a chariot which was a wheeled vehicle used for
transportation and for fighting battles.

Key Concept 1.3. The Development and Interactions of Early Agricultural, Pastoral, and Urban
Societies

II
C. Pastoralists were often the developers and disseminators of new weapons and modes of
transportation that transformed warfare in agrarian civilizations.
Pastoralists were the developers of compound bows and iron weapons which transformed the
warfare society. The iron weapons were very strong and were easy to mass produce. The compound
bows were an advance over simple bows and allowed to set a target with more accuracy and force.

Pastoralists also developed horse back riding and chariots . Chariots allowed for a mass amount of
goods to be transported without much of a hassle . Also horseback riding allowed for goods to be
transported as well.

III. Culture played a significant role in unifying states through laws, language, literature, religion,

The Benefits of Chain Stores Explained in In Virginia...
Every couple of months, I go to Trader Joe s. I enjoy their organic products and the prices as well.
Trader Joe s is not in Augusta, but in Columbia, SC. I really like Trader Joe s, and like me,
consumers do not mind traveling far to their favorite chain stores. In Virginia Postrel s essay, In
Praise of Chain Stores, she lists the pros and cons of chain stores. I believe chain stores help the
city of Augusta. Chain stores have turned Augusta into an exciting place by bringing many products
to consumers, making visitors feel at home, and helping the economy. First of all, Chain stores give

that was mentioned was Huddle House. Huddle House is a diner that serves breakfast, lunch and
dinner all day. Eating there reminded my cousin of growing up in Alabama. Being able to shop at
chain stores, helps tourists enjoy their favorite product or food. Thirdly, chain stores help the
economy. The author says that, Chains let people in a city of 250,000 enjoy retail amenities once
available to a huge metropolitan center. Costco is a warehouse that has members like Sam s Club.
When Costco opened in Augusta in 2011, the community was excited. Selling discounted item like
tires, cars, and bulk food items. Costco stays packed with customers. The Augusta Chronicle
reported that by having a Costco in the area, people are traveling from Columbia, SC and other
places that are much smaller than Augusta. The Augusta Chronicle also reported that a Costco
employee earns twelve dollars an hour. This is great with minimum wage being seven dollars and
twenty five cents an hour. Chain stores usually are very popular and keep customers coming back.
The more people that shop, the more employees need to be hired. Jobs are created when these big
retail stores open. Discounts are given to employees which can benefit both parties. In conclusion,
