The Anthropocene, “The Age Of The Human,” (Purdy, Pg 1.),
The Anthropocene, the age of the human, (Purdy, pg 1.), the age where humans started making an
impact of the planet. The age in humans saying that the Earth is theirs instead of saying that we are
just a part of this environment. There has been many definitions, different thoughts, and various
implications to how this term should be viewed. With the readings from class and learning about the
aspects that differ, I think that it should generally be used as a term or slogan for the drastic climate
change that humans have created accumulated. The start of the Anthropocene is continually
questioned as to when it actually started. Some say around the 1800 s or others say around the 1980
s. However, there is strong evidence to say that it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Either way though, whichever theory may be true, both have the same concept and this is when
humans started making an impact the Earth. This we can tell by, by looking at the CO2 levels, or
in short, when the atmosphere started changing. To support this claim of basing the use of this term
around the start of the climate change, there is enough evidence to suggest this and to be able to use
it efficiently. There are many examples from every type of ecosystem, for example the ocean, the
forests, the water cycles. Everything is affected by the drastic climate change. Our nature reserves
are thus in fact culture reserves shaped by human activities, (Mensvoort, page 1). Examples from this
article also include talking about how humans have taken over nature, and that we have very little
habitats untouched by our generations. When we speak about nature, we are always in fact talking
about our relationship with nature, never about nature itself, (Mensvoort page 2), which can be
taken into many accounts of how humans belief our place on the Earth is, and our thoughts of
treating it. However, contrary to this belief, some researchers have stated that we should name this
era around the capitalist views that human perceive of the Earth. Something the example the age

Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs

1 Self Actualization Needs
(full potential)
2 Esteem Needs
(self respect, personal worth, autonomy)
3 Love and Belongingness Needs
(love, friendship, comradeship)
4 Safety Needs
(security; protection from harm)

(food, sleep, stimulation, activity)

B Values
In general, values reflect one s judgment and helps sort out what is important in life. Maslow

Security Safety Needs Here we might include living in a safe area away from threats. This level is
more likely to be found in children as they have a greater need to feel safe.
Body Physiological Needs On this level are the very basic needs for air, warmth, food, sleep,
stimulation and activity. People can die due to lack of biological needs and equilibrium
(homeostasis).

Self Actualization
Self Actualization is described by Maslow as an ongoing process involved in a cause outside their
own skin. People on this need level, work at something very precious. This is a vocation or a
calling in the old priestly sense. These people are very fine, healthy, strong, sagacious (that is, very
smart) and creative.
Self Actualization was actually created by Kurt Goldstein in 1940 and later widely used by Carl
Rogers. Self actualization is defined as a basic force which drives the person forward and onwards.
B and D Needs
Maslow also called self actualization need growth motivation or being needs (B Needs) in contrast to
deficit motivation (D Needs). Maslow suggested that only two percent of the people in the world
achieve self actualization. Maslow gave examples of people who met this criteria using biographical
analysis. People who met this standard of self actualization included: Abraham Lincoln, Thomas
Jefferson, Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Jane Adams, William James, Albert Schweitzer,
Benedict Spinoza, and Almost Huxley

Poly Throwing Rifling
As we learned in this week s article, it shows how lead projectiles preform inside the barrel of a
Glock and other barrels of the polygonal rifling type. What is a polygonal rifling? The best way
to explain it as it relates to firearms is, in a rifling there is slight rise in the rifling and tighter twist
in the barrel. The befit from the polygonal rifling is less bullet deformation, higher average
velocity and a bore that is easier to clean. Alongside polygonal rifling, the bullet grips tighter to the
rifling and creates a tighter gas seal. The disadvantage of a polygonal barrel is with traditional lead
bullets, their softness tends to be oversized and leave lead behind above the rifling. Among the slight
rise in the polygonal rifling,
America Is The World s Best Country
The America I believe in is the world s best country. It lets us have our freedoms, and it lets us
learn to our best abilities. It also has the best and bravest soldiers and veterans in the world. Our
country is the best in which to live and grow. Our freedoms are the most important to me. They
come at a great expense of people s lives to save somebody they have never even met. Our
freedoms are what separates us from other countries. We have the ability to bear arms and let our
heads invent wonderful inventions. As proclaimed in a favorite song, Home of the free because of
the brave. Veterans of all wars and battles have and experienced events that nobody else could
possibly dream of, other than in nightmares. Therefore, we should honor
Boston Massacre Happened
What Really Happened at the Boston Massacre It was a cool night in Boston in early march. I
was passing by the customs house while a group of boys began to yell and hollering at some
British soldiers. As the boys continued the soldiers began to fluster, so much to the point that he
strikes one of the boys with his rifle. And as soon as I can blink, I was in the middle of a crowd
surrounding the soldier. As the crowd grew, more soldiers came to his side. The crowd started to
get out of control so one of the soldiers picked up his musket and fired into the crowd and so his
allies followed suit with one of the musket shots nearly missing me. All of the citizens run in all
directions and the crowd nearly trampling children. I returned home and later discovered that the
soldiers were placed under house arrest and soon after taken to jail and charged for the death of
several people. As things heated up in court, more and more British soldiers arrived in Boston. They
did this to bring peace to Boston but it did not do that it all. It did the exact opposite and caused
even more chaos. And as chaos spread... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I picked who I thought was the most consistent or who s stories were the most similar to each
other s. I focused on the locations they mentioned, specifically around the town house and King
street because they seem to have the most eyewitness backing. They I focused on a few different
little details. Like the number of soldiers that witnesses say shot somebody. Then I focused on
what was said. Witnesses say that they heard a soldier with their back to them say Fire . For the
people I didn t believe. I just felt that some of their key points were just too far off the facts that
were trending between some of the other people. I know that there is several people that I do not

Both the Dome of the Rock, located in Jerusalem created in...
Both the Dome of the Rock, located in Jerusalem created in 687 AD with no artist, and the Acropolis,
located in Athens Greece created in 450BC with no artist but commissioned by Pericles, are
demonstrations of Sacred spaces that demonstrate different practices from two different cultures.
Religious Islamic architecture is intricately related to Muslim prayer which is an obligation to do
every day. The Dome of the Rock was said to be the first great Islamic building. The Muslims had
taken the city of Jerusalem in 638 created the shrine of worship to commemorate the event and the
triumph of Islam. The Dome of the rock, similar to the Acropolis, was built atop holy ground. Called
the Noble Enclosure, the site was where the Hebrews built the ... Show more content on

These inscriptions were written in the style of calligraphy, which itself was a long and drawn out
task which was said to be holy in it of itself, as the scribe would have to have exceptional spiritual
refinement. Unlike a mosque which is used for public daily worship, the Dome of the Rock is a
mashhad, a shrine for pilgrims, as pilgrimages are major parts of the Muslim faith.
The Acropolis is a large worship complex built on a mountain overlooking the city of Athens. Both
the residents of the city and those traveling to Athens would have been able to see it at all points
throughout the day. Inside the structure lies the Parthenon, the main temple, dedicated to the
goddess Athena, who was the guardian of the city of Athens. The location itself was a holy site as
it was believed to be the place where Athena won against Poseidon and earned her patronage.
Poseidon gave the Greeks a salt well where as Athena gave them a olive branch, and as her gift
was deemed better, they erected the Parthenon in her name. There is also a smaller temple
dedicated to Poseidon in the Acropolis. The olive branch given to them was said to be within the
Parthenon and the salt well was said to be in the temple to Poseidon. Finally, the Parthenon is
covered in the carved stories of the victories of both Athens and Athena herself. These re introduced
their beliefs and glorified Athena for her helping of
Differences And Similarities Between Hitler And Mussolini
A Comparison between Hitler and Mussolini Both Hitler and Mussolini believed in totalitarianism
between the two world wars. Mussolini supported Italian Fascism, while Hitler supported German
Nazism. They had both great impact on the modern European history.

Firstly, I would like to start telling one of the similarities of Hitler and Mussolini.
Both were anti communist. They were both similar in this way because Hitler was against
communism and wanted to ensure a communist revolt wouldn t take place again. Hitler s policies
were popular with many sections of the German people. When he came to power in 1933, he
caused a great wave of enthusiasm and anticipation after the weak Weimar Republic . He pledged to
violate the Treaty of Versailles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were truly leaders to be remembered by Germany and Italy for years to come and they indeed
had a lot of similarities, while some aspects of them were different as well. They supported Nazism
and Fascism respectively. Some say that Hitler was the more capable leader, but in fact Mussolini
was Hitler s role model. Unfortunately, their deaths were quite tragic: Hitler committed suicide and
Mussolini got shot and hanged on a market.

Analyzing Patrick Ness A Monster Calls
A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness is a story of of a middle school boy who is coping with many
problems in his life. I enjoyed and recommend the story, even though it is sad. The purpose,
message, and theme, of courage tie along well together throughout the book, and will impact who
ever reads it. I enjoyed how the story had both a real element to it and a whimsical element. The
purpose of Ness s story is to inform the reader of what might be going on in someone s life who is
losing a parent. Ness showed me that there s a way to deal with grief and anger, and it is to face it
head on. Even though at parts in the story Conor does not handle his emotions well, he learns, and
faces his truth, that it is hard for him to watch his mother dying. With all of his hardships he has
several excuses to misbehave, but Conor learns that that is not helping anyone, so he finally faces
his grief head on. By facing his grief he admits to his true feelings and finally lets go. The monster
states, If you speak the truth, you will be able to face whatever comes. Even though this is indirect
characterization, what the monster says impacts Conor very much. He knew he was going to get
through it. It would be terrible. It would be beyond terrible. But he d survive. ... Show more content

When facing anger, Conor and the reader learn that doing so reveals courage. The theme of
courage relates to the Author s purpose because, when someone is being informed of what might
be going on in someone s life who is losing a parent, you need to have courage to help them and be
available for them. Courage relates to the message I chose because, to face your problems head
on, you have to have courage. Conor held tightly onto his mom. And by doing so he could finally
let her go. Conor shows his courage in this passage by finally being able to let go of his mother.
This is why courage is the theme of this
Community Justice And Criminal Justice
Community justice is a broad term that includes many aspects of involving the community. The
main goal is to enhance the lives within the community through the creation of problem solving
strategies and strengthening the standards within the community by restoring victim s quality of life,
and reintegrating offenders of crimes. Although community justice can be traced back hundreds of
years. The model is still considered a nontraditional approach in today s criminal justicesector. Due
to its broad range practitioners that choses to implement using community justice within their agency
has many different options for practicing the model.
There are usually five possibilities to pursue community justice initiatives they include: crime
prevention, policing, prosecution, adjudication, and corrections. In addition, many experts has
concluded that community policing and community courts are the two most widespread practices
used within the criminal justice sector. Since, many professionals within the sector believe that
community justice allows dialogue between citizens, community organizations and criminal justice
agencies, stability can be achieved through the partnership which can help to create solutions too
hard to fix problems within a community.
Today the court system has attempted several models for integrating community justice with in a
community. Most common is the integration of a prosecutor s office into neighborhoods troubled by
crime. According to the attorneys
Pros And Cons Of Drug Testing In Schools
Imagine if your child or you walked into school and was randomly tested for drug residue. You or
your child did nothing wrong and they have no evidence that he or she was taking drugs. How
would you feel about that? Would you be alright with that? This is brought up because this topic of
being drug tested in schools randomly is being argued about quite often. Drug testsshould not be
mandatory for students because they violate students rights, are very costly, and are not an
effective way of getting rid of drug use in schools. Firstly, drug tests should not be required for
students because they violate students rights. Drug tests sometimes increase feelings of paranoia
and guilt, which is not right. The athletes have not done anything wrong, yet the school treats
them like they have with these drug tests. A boy was trying out for a sport and in order to be able
to play, he had to take a drug test. His father was very against it, as well as his son. York considered
it a violation of his son s privacy and thought it sent the message that his son was guilty until proven
innocent (McLure). In the American court system we follow the rule of Innocent until proven guilty
. The drug tests are going against the traditional American court system that our Founding Fathers
created in the early years of our country. They fought for our country and some died. They took the
job of setting up guidelines for our government and country, which most likely was not easy. The
most we can
The Nightmare Essay
Exhausted and beat, Kai grasps his face. The prominent slap that the girl he saved has left a mark.
The battle that left one town saved and a hero in pain. His shoulder gashed deeply, a painful
memory of the dragon s last attack before being dismantled and left headless. Kai stands in distraught
his right handholding his left shoulder and his left hand grasping his face. He watches as the girl he
saved stampedes off with steam coming from her ears as her ass imprinted with a bloodied hand,
the hand print that Kai had accidentally left. Kai stands within the beloved town just staring at his
hand wondering if something was actually wrong. The silence is broken as his companions join him.

Kai sneaks out for a walk to try and clear his mind. As he walks around town, his left arm starts to
feel strange. He begins to take the bandage off to look at the wound when he sees something very
disturbing. The deep gash wound that was left by the dragon yesterday was shrinking right before
his eyes. The wound was healing by itself and once fully healed no scar remained. He rolled his
shoulder in a full circle and up and down to see there was no pain, his shoulder was fully healed as
if the events that occurred yesterday had never happened.

As Kai heads back to the house, he wonders if he actually got stronger. He becomes filled with
emotion because he believes he has developed a new healing technique. He wants to tell everyone
about his new found power when a thought crosses his mind. Why should I tell them? It s not for
them to know. They will only start to ask questions. But then he starts to think about Amber.
Every time Sai had gotten stronger or a new power, both Amber and Melody were always with
him asking him how he did it. It was always Sai this...Sai that... it was never Kai. Kai tries to
believe that his long time friend would never take away the girl he liked on purpose or would he?
Just then he heard a raspy whisper saying Amber is
Tapan Zee Bridge Essay
Introduction During the last week of January, 1Daimond. LLC was contacted by Ardent Global
Marine Services in Houston. They have a request to remove some pylons and fenders from the
Historic Tappan Zee bridge in New York. We hosted a lunch and learn with Andrew Barren the
Project Manager shortly after the call. During the meeting we discovered that the bridge footer is
comprised of a tank with nearly 40 36 concrete filled pylons driven into the river bed. We proposed a
solution that we derived for the Repsol YME project that would use fabricated courser rails that
would host diamond wire carts that would transverse along the side of the tank and cut below it
without damaging it. The subsequent conversations maturated into a potential partnership... Show

Ardent was created to offer a more comprehensive solution to the maritime industry. We will
achieve this by diversifying our services from traditional salvage to a full range of emergency
management services, project related work, offshore decommissioning and underwater services.
Bridge Backgrown The original Tappan Zee Bridge is a cantilever bridge built during 1952 55.
The bridge is 3 miles long and spans the Hudson at its second widest point. The Tappan Zee river
crossing was named by 17th century Dutch settlers. The deteriorating current structure bears an
average of 138,000 vehicles per day, substantially more traffic than its designed capacity. During
its first decade, the bridge carried fewer than 40,000 vehicles per day. Unlike the other major
bridges in metropolitan New York, the Tappan Zee Bridge was designed to last only 50 years. In
addition, the precious collapse of Minnesota s I 35W Mississippi River bridge in 2007 raised
worries about the Tappan Zee Bridge s structural integrity. These concerns, together with traffic
overcapacity and increased maintenance costs, escalated the serious discussions already ongoing
about replacing the Tappan Zee with a new
