Essay on Drunk Driving as a Social Issue
Drunk Driving as a Social Issue

How much longer will we be forced to endure the pain and atrocities due to the carelessness of drunk
driving? Drunk driving has been a problem in the United States since the introduction of
automobiles; however, it did not become an important social issue until the 1980 s. At that time the
political atmosphere defined crime in terms of personal choice and individual responsibility. Drunk
driving was defined as a problem located within individuals. Drunk driving is illegal in every state.
It is not only illegal, but unsafe to operate an automobile if you are under the influence of alcohol.
When a person drinks, the alcohol is absorbed into the blood stream and various tests have been

There are two types of deterrence: individual or specific deterrence, and general deterrence.
Individual or specific deterrence seeks to deter the offender from re offending. General
deterrence seeks to deter the public from criminal behavior through the punishment of offenders.
Deterrence is based on the perceived certainty, severity, and celerity of detection and sanction
(Vingilis 645). People who support legal measures are calling for harsher laws and tougher
punishments. Some of the proposed measures are: 1. Anyone convicted of drunk driving will be
required to pay large fines (starting at $5,000 for a first offense). 2. Anyone convicted of drunk
driving will be required to spend at least some time in jail or prison. 3. All convicted drivers will be
required to have yellow license plates on their cars so that other people will know who they are and
what they have done. 4. Anyone convicted will automatically lose their driver s license for one year.
5. Surprise roadblocks will be set up and police will stop all drivers and test them for drunk driving.
6. All convicted drivers who are alcoholics will be required to have psychological treatment. 7. An
ignition interlock system will be installed in convicted driver s vehicles. 8. The possible seizure and
sale of a repeat offender s vehicle, and 9. Lowering the blood alcohol level from .10% to .08%, since
a person can still be drunk at .08%.

The Causes Of Social Injustice In The United States
America is supposed to be the land of dreams where any working man can strive and achieve the
same status as any privileged can possess. But with social injustice in America at an all time high,
this dream seems to be falling apart at the seams. Social injustice is simply another form of injustice.
Social Injustice can vary from one persons point of view to another. Ann Marie was a 36 years old,
she was a writing teacher who was coming back from a spa, missed her bus and decided to walk
home. The police stopped her on suspicion of prostitution. Officers said she that was looking into
the windows of passing vehicles. When she tried to show them the receipt from the spa, officers
took it from her. She was afraid that the only physical evidence that supported her case would be
gone, so she tried to take it back, knocking the police s notebook to the ground. That got her a
charge of harassment to go along with the prostitution accusation. She eventually beats both cases in
court. The social injustice for many people it can be seen as the few getting all the benefits with
little being trickled down to the few, and having to fight for the scraps. The social injustice is the fact
that the education of people is far from where it should be. People in the United States suffer from
the injustice in the politics, especially the criminals and immigrants. The injustice system affects lots
of people and their communities. The archetype of injustice can be found through stereotype,

Violence In Rap Music Essay
Boom, boom! Boom, boom! The kind of bass that drains batteries and the kind of lyrics that
unload clips, these are the sounds that rap music produces. I chose this topic because I am
extremely interested in rap music and I want to explore the violent aspect of the industry. I have
never had a chance to look at the violent side of it and I plan to find answers to questions I have in
my search. Tupac Shakur is one of my favorite artists and when he was shot and killed I really
started to take notice of the violence. People were getting killed because of an image that was
being set. What I really want to know, however, is why rappers feel compelled to graphically
describe the violence.
In my search I plan to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hip hop wasn t a new form of music in 1989, in fact it started in 1982 with Run DMC, but nobody
was ready for this form. The police and politicians didn t like what N.W.A was saying in their
lyrics, but all of the things they were rapping about were things that were going on around them
on a daily basis. They were seeing people being shot, drug deals going down, and women being

all relate to what they were rapping about because it was our lifestyle. quot;(Wilson. Interview).

Employee Engagement Is Made Up Of Two Words, Employee And...
Employee Engagement
Employee Engagement is made up of two words, Employee and engagement. In simple words, it can
be defined as an engagement or commitment of an employee towards its organization. It is not
entirely clear when the term engagement was first used in relation to work, but generally the Gallup
Organization is credited for coining the term somewhere in the 1990s( Schaufeli, 2013 p.2).
An engaged employee can be easily distinguished from disengaged one by simply asking a
question. Ask an employee, what their company does? An engaged employee will say we provide
software services while a disengaged employee will say, they/Company provides software services.
It is evident from here that an engaged employee is involved completely to achieve the goals of
company, hence will be more efficient and considers himself as a part of the success of company.
Various researches have also shown that engaged employees are much more efficient than
disengaged ones, which results in positives for an organisation.
An engaged employee feels involved in and excited about his work. Engaged employees produce at
high levels individually, and contribute to improved business results. In fact, Gallup research shows
employee engagement can be linked to increased productivity and profitability, along with benefits
such as decreased turnover and absenteeism (Connolly, et al., 2013, p 48 52).An organisation with a
higher number of engaged employees is likely to be more effective, efficient
The Traditions And How My Family Have Brought Them From...
Have you ever thought about how to learn about Chaldean culture? This paper will provide you
the reader with this knowledge. I will discuss Chaldean traditions and how my family have brought
them to the United States. The Chaldean tradition derives from the ancient civilization and though
it has little change my family is very fortunate to practice this unique culture. We as a family lived
in the Middle East (Iraq majority , Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, Iran ...), and nowadays are spread all
over the world after the recent wars and challenges in the region that they live, especially those of
Iraq. The Chaldean community like myself have migrated to the United States and live in two major
Cities (Detroit in Michigan, and San Diego in California. The majority of Chaldeanslike my family

called, Tilkef . I am a Chaldeans like many of my relatives that are Christian Catholics, and we
speak a language of Aramaic (The language that Jesus was speaking), which is also called
Chaldean. The Aramaic is one of the oldest, continually spoken languages in the world. People
think that Arabic and Chaldean languages are the same thing, actually they are nothing alike, and
you will not be able to understand Arabic just because you speak Chaldean. I can speak both of
these two different languages, and the use of this language is only because the Chaldean used to live

An Essay On The Parthenon
The Parthenon, a temple of the Doric order, is one of the greatest artistic accomplishments of the
fifth century. The Parthenon is viewed without mythological reference and stands far outside the
normal Greek temple decoration, which is commonly known to derive its subject matter from the
mythical past. (Connelly 53) The Parthenonis different from most other Grecian art of the fifth
century and is truly beautiful. One of the greatest reasons the Parthenon is set apart as a great feat in
Grecian art is due to its different stylization and the fact that the entire temple is built from the finest
white marblethroughout the entire piece, including the roof. (Stockstad) The Parthenon is a
gorgeous testament to the Athenian citizenry participating in their annual (or quadrennial)
Panathenaic procession. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The entire temple is made of three main types of marble. The first marble type is known by the
name of Pentelikon, it is an off white color, is not a very fine marble type (sturdy), and was most
likely used because it was local, cheap, and preserved well due to the fact that its harder to carve.
This marble type was the main marble used throughout the Parthenon. The second marble type used
on the temple is known by the name Hynettin, it is bluish in color and was carved on location in
Situ and the third marble type is known as Pernian, these two marble types were used sparingly in
comparison to the Pentelikon but nevertheless were still as important. The other main materials used
to pull off this eye catching masterpiece were, stone, bronze, ivory, gold, ebony and cypress wood.

SWOT analysis of Turitea Aviation

Strengths
Johnny Johnson
From the beginning, the company has had a strong reputation for being an excellent Maintenance,
Repair and Overhaul organisation. Johnny Johnson who is credited to being an extremely efficient
worker, and has the ability to thoroughly plan his next move is still an employee at Turitea Aviation.
He has twice served on the board and is a valuable employee to the company. Johnson can be
considered a strength to the company for the following reasons;
He can be directly linked to the early success of the company. This indicates that he is a competent
employee who may have the ability in aiding the new CEO to bringing Turitea Aviation back to its
former glory.
He has been noted to have a consultative management style . In a company that has just been
through the stress associated with a resignation of an undesirable leader, Johnsons management
will be extremely beneficial for repairing and adopting a new company culture. Employees will be
looking for someone to lead/someone to follow. Johnson, a senior employee, encourages staff to

Comparing Knocked Up And On Chesil Beach
Affinity does not guarantee eternal reciprocation but may resolve into a relationship of aversion. In
the film, Knocked Up, we spectate the lives of a distraught couple trying to make it work while
circumventing the cause of their effort, Alison s unexpected pregnancy. And in the novel, On Chesil
Beach, written by Ian McEwan, we follow a path of reflection in order for the couple to both realize
that even though their loveis inextinguishable, their desires in life makes the marriagehopeless.
Between the two couples, there lies a parallel argument in the formation and partition within their
relationships. In the movie, the protagonists, Allison Scott and Ben Stone gets into touch with one
another in hopes of creating a feasible relationship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the initial reason as to why they attempted to give it a try was due to her pregnancy, the
majority of the affinity becoming a tangible thing was through the perseverance and enlightenment
of Ben and the forgiving oddity of Allison. They did not really fall in love towards the end but
rather accepted each other s quirks and imperfections as they moved in together. However in real
life, based upon the author of The Power of the Past: Understanding Cross Class Marriages and
notable sociologist, Jessi Streib, states that relationships that are formed between different social
classes depending on income and identities are statistically bounded to not last regardless of whether
they deemed compatible at first. People have more things in common with strangers they have never
met before compared to their spouses because the strangers came from the same social class as they
did themselves. The only anomaly to this statistic is centered on the condition of compatibility; in
spite of the partners coming from different worlds, if they are compatible, meaning that both
accommodate both needs and fulfills their desires, the relationship will last. Although there is a
slight percentage that goes against the conventional standards, the chance of Ben and Allison being
in that small percent are extremely slim for their compatibility was born from one s
Black Robes By Moki Summary
In the story, Moki had two visions. The visions had shown him two ways to live. The first with
seeds for tomorrow was a way of sharing. The second was not a way of sharing at all (Burnes).
The vision of sharing had actually happened in real life and in the story itself. The second vision
was present, but did not happen in the end. The Hopi realized that they are able to share the land and
the valley, so they relocate on the top of the mesa. Throughout the short story, Moki s visions
represented something that happened in real life.

In the beginning, the Spanish missionaries, also known as the Black Robes, were resented by the
Hopi, or the People. The People strongly disliked the idea that Spanish settlers and governor took

In the text, it mentions about the religious dances and ways of the People. Then, the Spanish and
Black Robes came and everything changed. The Spanish were very brutal to the People, but the
had also introduced new plants for cultivation, such as watermelon. The People eventually
outlawed the garden seeds in order to reject their new ways. Like the story itself, this was true.
The People had rejected new influences in order to continue their regular cultural lives. The
peace was not settled, so Pope drove out the Spanish settlers in the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. Many
lives were lost on both sides; fields were destroyed; churches and homes were razed. This was like
Moki s second vision; not sharing the seeds. After peace was restored between the two sides, the
People tried to return to their old religious customs, but their old way of life could not be attained.
The People eventually moved atop the mesa where they live today. Like in the story and in real
life, the People finally decided to move out of the Spanishs way. Archaeological findings say that
they have uncovered native garden seeds of squash, melons, and corn that are still able to to grown
