The Relevance Of Translational Research
This paper will aim to explain the relevance of translational research and how behavioural concepts
such as closed economies, unit price and the matching law can allow us to better understand and
predict human choice behaviour that meets social significance.

Translational Research

A statement made by Jong Wook (2005) sums up very well the problem gap that is between research
and practice, that is, to act upon something without having knowledge and understanding is a lost
cause and to have knowledge without acting upon it is a waste of resourcefulness. The aim of
translational research is to bridge the gap between what we have discovered in basic science and
implement them into clinical application to improve human condition. It must be ... Show more

Vollmer (2011) described three types of translational research. They are; 1) application of basic
principles from laboratory to people whereby variables that affect response allocation are identified
(schedules of reinforcement for example), 2) utilising principles or methods from laboratory
research to solve applied problems (substance misuse for example, the aim is to simulate this in the
laboratory and apply what has been found), and lastly, 3) translating the logic of behaviour methods
(by which we extend our understanding of methods and principles to address complex social issues)
(Fisher Mazur 1997).
Hursh (1980) was one of the first to propose that behavioural economics can be useful to the field of
behaviour analysis in that it could advance our knowledge of human behaviour. He translated
reinforcers into economic terms in which operant concepts can explain these principles (Hursh
1984). According to Reed et al. (2013) the way in which positive behaviour change can prove
maintainable is through the principles of behaviour economics whereby, our understanding of the
environment is key to such behaviour change.

AP Psychology Self Analysis
Senior year was quickly approaching and I still had one more spot left. I was indecisive about
what other class I should add into my schedule. I researched a little and decided on AP Psychology.
Little did I know how much I would come to enjoy the subject. From the beginning, I was interested
in the psychology. Studying the way the brain works and why people behave the way they do have
been topics I ve been curious about before. Psychology is a subject unlike any other that I ve studied
before. Psychology studies the human mindand behaviors. It provides answers or theories of why
people behave certain ways. It also includes bits of biology and and statistics, so the knowledge in
other subjects help me understand it more. As I learn more about
Macbeth Good Vs Evil Essay
Can the evil part of a man overcome his good heart? The Tragedy of Macbeth is a Drama written
by William Shakespeare that takes place in Scotland, England. In the story, the main character,
Macbeth, kills King Duncan to become King. He is so blind with his evilness that he does not see
that his reign of power will come to an end. The theme, good vs. evil, shows one just how quick
another can have a change of heart through Macbeths conflicts with himself, his wife, and the son of
the King. To begin with, Macbeth has had internal good vs. evil issues. Macbeth contemplates about
killing King Duncanwhen he says First, as I am his Kinsman and his subject, strong both against the
deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself.

Malcolm is King Duncan s son and he wants to take the throne back from Macbeth when he says
Already at a point, was set forth. Now we ll together, and the chance of goodness be like our
warranted quarrel. (Act IV, scn iii, ln 135 137) Malcolm is prepared and hopes that their success
equals the justice of their cause. Malcolm is hopeful when he says Tis his main hope, for where
there is advantage to be given both more and less have given him the revolt, and none serve with
him but constrained things whose hearts are absent too. (Act VI, scn vi, ln 10 14) With this,
Malcolm is hopeful because Macbeths men will be in battle physically but not in spirit. After
reading the play, the reader realizes how good vs. evil can overturn one another. Macbeth and
Lady Macbeths evil plan were stopped by Malcolm. Macbeth ended up dead and Lady Macbeth
was so consumed by guilt that she ended up taking her own life. Malcolm became King of Scotland
in the end. Therefore, this convincing evidence proves that the evil part of a man can overcome his

Pros And Cons Of Mandatory Vehicle Breathalyzers
Mandatory vehicle breathalyzers What if a person s car would not start if there was alcohol
detected in the bloodstream anytime they tried to drive? Vehicle breathalyzers make this a
reality. Ignition interlocks installed in cars measure alcohol on the driver s breath. Interlocks
keep the car from starting if the driver has a BAC above a certain level, usually 0.02%. They re
used for people convicted of drunk driving and are highly effective at preventing repeat offenses
while installed. Mandating interlocks for all offenders, including first time offenders, will have the
greatest impact. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 1) Driving is a privilege, not a right.

DUI deaths remain at 30% despite a overall drop in crashes (CDC 1). Not only are people killed
and injured but the cost economic is high. DUI crashes are also a significant economic burden to
communities, with societal costs estimated to be as high as $59 billion annually, which is 21% of
the total annual economic cost ($277 billion) associated with MVC related injury . (Bingham, et
al. 1034). The Bingham, et al group studied the trends and made projections that in the time of
fifteen years, and they found that 85% of DUI deaths and injuries could be prevented if drunk
drivers were not able to actually be able to drive drunk. That would be almost 60,000 deaths and
1.25 million injuries as well as $342 billon saved (Bingham, et al 1035). The roads would be safer for
Low-Carb Diets Proven to be Effective Essay
So you want to go on a diet and lose weight? The low carb diet is a great option, you ll lose more
weight, and faster than other diets! The health benefits of a low carb diet significantly outweigh the
negatives.
First, let s look at some of the background information of low carb diets. Also, we will look at a
couple different diets and what their different phases are. A low carb diet is one that restricts the
intake of carbohydrates for the purpose of losing weight. Foods high in carbs, like sugar, bread,
and pasta, are often replaced with foods containing a higher percentage of fats and protein, such as
meat, fish, and eggs. Other foods low in carbs, which include some vegetables and fruits, are also
acceptable. It is also important to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the reasons for this is that low carb diets tend to get rid of excess water from the body.
Because they lower insulin levels, the kidneys start shedding excess sodium, leading to rapid
weight loss in the first week or two. Low carb diets can actually lower blood sugar and insulin
levels while helping to treat diabetes, Gunnars states, by cutting carbohydrates, you remove the
need for a lot of insulin. Both blood sugars and insulin go way down. The best way to lower blood
sugar and insulin levels is to reduce carbohydrate consumption. This is also a very effective way to
treat and possibly even reverse type II diabetes. Another great health benefit to going on a low carb
diet is that it will also lower your blood pressure, which lowers your chances of getting a stroke or
heart attack. Low carb diets are very effective at lowering blood triglycerides, which are fat
molecules in the blood and a well known risk factor for heart disease, says Gunnars, and this is
because carb consumption elevates blood triglyceride levels. HDL and LDL are referred to the two
types of cholesterol; HDL is considered good, and LDL bad. HDL carries cholesterol away from the
body and to the liver, where it can be reused or excreted. One of the best ways to increase HDL
levels is to eat fat... and low carb diets include a lot of fat, says Gunnars. So by increasing the
Research Paper On The Eucharist
There are many different beliefs, problems, and changes that occurred overtime in regards to the
Eucharist.

People throughout the first century began worshipping God before the sun rose. The Christians
would often hold these gatherings in someone s house. However, the location was frequently
changed due to the occurrence of persecutions. During these services the people would read and
interpret the scripture. Later, the president of the brethren would be presented with the bread and
the wine mixed with water. He would take these gifts and offer glory and praise to god. These people
believed that no one was allowed to share the Eucharist unless he or she fully believed in the
teachings of the scripture. You were also considered unworthy ... Show more content on

It isn t until the priests blesses these that they become the Body and Blood. Rightly then, do we
believe that the bread consecrated by the word of God has been made over into the Body of God
of the Word (St. Gregory). When this miracle occurs, the bread that was made over into that Body
is made to change into divine strength (St. Gregory). These two substances are worth so little
before they have been blessed, because they are simply common bread and wine. According to St.
Gregory the bread and wine receive a similar blessing as the men wanting to become priests do. The
power of the Holy Spirit comes down in both of these instances to give a blessing. The man turns
into a priest, while the bread and wine turn into the Body and Blood. (St.
Federal Funding for Public Broadcasting is a Bust Essay
Each year the United States spends .014% of its budget on public broadcasting. This amounted to
approximately $445 million spent on funding towards public broadcasting in 2012. (Defending
Public Broadcasting Should Not Be Done Lightly) The funding was meant to help public
broadcasting stations get to a state where they could support themselves on their own. However,
many stations continued to take the funding even though they did not require it. Despite this, the
stations that abused the funding happened to have some very educational programs that most
stations lacked which brought the question whether or not they should be punished. But think about
it, is it not bad enough that you re already paying a substantial amount of taxes to help... Show more

The funding provided by the federal government was meant to temporarily help public broadcasting
stations until they could become self sustaining, and stations such as PBS have proven that they are
now much more than self sustaining. What does this mean? It means that we are not just paying
taxes to help support stations in desperate need of the funding; it means that we are helping to pay
for some greedy stations bills due to them being too lazy to pay from their own wallet. This is not
only hurting our budgets, economy, and living conditions at home. This is also flowing money away
from situations that are truly in dire need of the money. These situations would include community
projects, poor hospitals, the homeless and hungry, disaster victims, and other minor, but significant
tragedies.

Some may argue that many stations are innocent and really use federal funding for its intended
purpose, but does that mean that the cost is worth it? More money would be wasted on selfish
penny pinchers over at PBS and other minor stations than anywhere else. So in the end it really
doesn t seem worth it, it s just too big of a hassle and they can thank PBS for the funding cuts. But
let us back track a bit now, what about broadcasting by radio? Well if you re asking this, then you
are probably not aware that federal funding only provides 5.8% of their
