Presidential Democracy
There are two main types of democratic systems in the world today: Parliamentary and
Presidential. More important than any difference is the fact that these two forms of governments
are democracies. This being a fundamental similarity for the two, the people are allowed to vote
for their leaders in both a parliamentary and presidential democracy (Comparision). Most people
take part in political life by way of elections; this is common for both types of democracies. For
example, Great Britain, being a parliament, revolves around two main political parties: Labour and
Conservatives. The party with the greatest representation forms the government. A Prime Minister is
then selected from the leading party and then becomes the head of state (Hauss... Show more content

The Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers can be removed from office if it loses the
confidence of the majority party. Basically, if the people of parliament do not like what is going
on, then there can be a vote or ruling to decide whether the Prime Minister needs to be removed
from office (Hauss 126). The President in a presidential system typically has a fixed term lasting
four to eight years, due to the fact that it is more difficult to impeach a president versus a receiving
a vote of no confidence (Carabajal). Furthermore, in a parliament system there is no strict separation
of powers because the ministers are also members of legislature. There are however incredibly strict
separation of powers in a presidential system. For example, in the United States , the President and
the secretaries are not members of Congress (Comparison). There is a relatively low chance for
gridlock in a parliamentary democracy due to the fact that the majority party supports the Prime
Minister and so there is agreement and support on the decisions that are made. Whereas in a
presidential democracy there is and increased chance for gridlock due to the multiple claims of
legitimacy between executive and legislative branches in the government
Compare and Contrast of Ernest Hemmingway´s A Clean Well...
In Ernest Hemingway s A Clean, Well Lighted Place and Sandra Cisneros s The House on Mango
Street , the authors describe their feelings towards the settings in a similar way. In Hemingway s
short story, two waiters at a café describe the differences in their lives and how they see life before
them. In Cisneros s short story, the narrator explains her past, present, and future places of
residency and the impact it has in her life. Both settings in each story are different, but also very
much alike, because of the people in the stories and the feeling of wantand betterment that you get
from both the waiters in A Clean, Well Lighted Place and the narrator in The House on Mango
Street . In A Clean, Well Lighted Place , an old man... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The House on Mango Street was very small and dilapidated. There was only one bedroom and
bathroom for all six of them to share. The front door was too big for the frame and no front yard to
play in. Even though this house was far better improvement than past homes, she still had hoped
for something bigger and better. The narrator gives a very descriptive view of this future dream
home. She says and inside it [will] have real stairs, not ordinary hallway stairs, but stairs like the
houses on T.V... [and] at least three washrooms... and a big yard with grass growing without a
fence (Cisnero s.552). The story has a theme of disappointment. The narrator keeps hoping for
this elaborate home, but just keeps getting disappointed. For the older waiter in A Clean Well
Lighted Place , the cafe symbolizes home because he feels that is all the he has. He says that he
lacks confidence but he does have a job. He doesn t want to leave the cafe and he feels that others
can benefit from such a place as having somewhere to go. The narrator in The House on Mango
Street realizes that she does not feel she has a place called home. The story symbolizes for her a
place of wanting better for herself. She has always known promises, but she has never seen them
and she vows to herself to have that one day. The older waiter and Esperanza are alike in that they
both believe in something so great for themselves. For example the older waiter
The Common Rule and Human Research Essay
Human research done in the United States nowadays is regulated by the Common Rule. The
Common Rule is a policy on the topic of Human Subject Protection created by a number of agencies
specifically the National Commission for the Protection of Human Subjects for Biomedical and
Behavioral Research developed in 1974 to address detection of serious maltreatment of human
subjects from the Syphilis Study at Tuskegee (Iltis, 2011). Some key requirements of the Common
Rule are: assuring compliance by research institutions, obtaining and documenting informed consent,
Institutional Review Board(IRB) membership, function, operations, review or research, and record
keeping. It included additional safeguards for vulnerable subjects such as pregnant... Show more

One should also recognize the possibility of other potential reviewing entities. St. Francis must
approve all proposals without any exceptions if human subject or animals are involved. All
students must have a faculty member sponsoring the research in order to supervise the student s
proposal. If the research proposal has been reviewed by any other entity a copy needs to be with
the proposal to St. Francis University s IRB. Although the IRB reviews all research involving
humans there are review categories that research may be eligible for if the Principal Investigator (
PI ) requests. This decision is determined by the IRB not the PI the request must be submitted
requesting exemption status if one of the following are present:
1.Research conducted in established or commonly accepted education environment that does
research one a regular basis.
2.Research using tests, surveys, interviews, observation of public behavior without any identification
of the participants.
3.Research utilizing existing data if without any identifiers
4.Research that is conducted by the approval of federal or state agency heads to evaluate public
benefit.
5.Food quality and evaluation only with the using or without food ingredients at or below the level
found to be safe.
Research that is classified exempt is not subjected to the continued review but it is important to be
aware that Exempt does not mean no review.

Urban Growth Management and Politics
Urban Growth Management and Politics
Being a urban planner is an exciting career field to work in. There are countless opportunities to
create innovative ideas that can change a struggling city into a beautiful and exciting place for
residents and tourist. However, when it comes to managing urban growth, planning becomes a more
complicated process. Part of the problem is the difficulty in balancing the task of growth management
and politics. Planners must find sensible ways to manage growth while being mindful of the political
aspects that interfere with planning.
Growth management is an important part of urban planning. As defined by John M. Levy, author of
Contemporary Urban Planning, growth management is defines as, ... Show more content on

Many of the proponents for growth management are supportive of the legislation because they
believe in the safe management of their land and resources.
However, there are many not supportive of the legislation of growth management for various reasons
including government control. As quoted in the attitudes toward growth management publication,
the system has also been criticized for placing the state in the role of a command and control entity,
rather than the role of a facilitator and advisor to localities on planning issues (Connerly, 2004).
While there remains to be a great number of supporters for growth management, many Florida
residents are not in support of government intervention. The citizen s stance against too much
government control brings focus on the political aspect of urban planning and growth management.
There are many problems that can arise with an the unmanaged growth of within communities across
the world. According to the works of , Robert F. Durant, Larry W. Thomas, and Don Hayes, authors
of, The Politics of Growth Management Reform in the States: A Comparative Analysis, Urban
Sprawl can be a burden to communities. For example, The quality of life in numerous states today
suffers appreciably from burgeoning populations, unbridled development, and unmanaged settlement
patterns (Robert F. Durant, 1993).
Occurrences like unmanaged developments can be catastrophic to a community. Other issues like an

The Strength Of Women In Combat
Women just aren t built for the job of frontline combat. Infantrymen have to carry an estimated 100
pounds on their back. At the same time they have to load 90 pound shells into guns that are nearly
double the size of that ammunition. This is one of the reasons that women can not handle the stress
of frontline combat. Men are built more for the conditions of combat with their broader shoulders
and backs, and thicker necks. Women have 45 to 50 percent less upper body strength, and 25 to 30
percent less aerobic capability. Also men are born with more testosterone in their body. Testosterone
enhances the body s ability to build muscle, which also makes men more built and made for the
physical toll of combat. If we bring women into combat then
Prince Of Egypt Analysis
While artistic and historical license has been taken, the setting is an element of the movie that is
true to the essence of the Bible, faithfully representing the dry and barren landscape of Egypt,
while the impression of it s geography has been altered. Although the Dreamworks animation,
The Prince of Egypt depicts the setting accurately, the animators of the film have changed certain
aspects of the movie to create interest and relatability. The first difference in the setting of the
book of Exodus and the film The Prince of Egypt is the misrepresentation of the Nile River.
According to the story of Exodus, the biblical account of Moses implies that he floated across the
Nile river safely. However, the film represents the Nile as a busy and dangerous trade route, filled
with large boats and potentially harmful predators. Therefore, by placing Moses in a dangerous
river, it emphasises the need for Moses to be saved from Pharaoh s wrath; while for the viewer, it
creates a sense of tension and suspense. Also, another setting that was altered when compared to the
biblical account of Moses was that of the Pyramids and Sphinx. The movie claims that the Pyramids
and the Sphinx were positioned near the palace; however, according to historical evidence, these
Egyptian statues are located in Giza. In contrast to the movie, the Bible states these Egyptian statues
were found in Thebes. With this change made, the viewers can recall a popular feature associated
with the traditional
