A Experiment On Magnetic Field
Theory A magnetic field is an area in which there is an electrical charge where a magnetic force
acts. A magnetic field can be induced in a circular loop and it can be calculated if the radius,
current, and number of turns are all known. When in the form of a coil it is directed along the axis
of the coil and is usually uniform throughout the coil until it begins to fall off when it gets further
away from the center. Another characteristic of magnetic fieldis that it can be changed to induce a
voltage. That induced voltage is known as the magnetic flux and it can be calculated by knowing the
area of the coil and the value of the magnetic field going through the coil.
Experimental Procedure This experiment was broken up into four different parts. It began by
verifying the connections and understanding the direction of the sensor. The next section measured
the field versus the current and the purpose of this was to find the value of the vacuum magnetic
constant μ0 by using the measured magnetic field and the current of the coil. In the following
portion of the experiment the purpose was to measure the rate at which the magnetic field drops
off as the sensor is moved away from the cell. The final part of the experiment had one use a
magnet to change the field of the coil so that a voltage could be induced and measured.
Results
The experiment began by connecting the magnetic field sensor to the universal lab interface and
setting it to 6.4mT. Once the field was set up a
The Ecosystem and Energy Sources
Scientist and researchers are finding new ways to help the world become more efficient, while
saving the eco system and preserving the earth. The use of energy is an essential part of our day
to day lives from heating, petroleum and electricity. In the same token we depend on energy to get
through the day, the use of energy has increased along with the growing population and produced
harmful effects. Finding new ways to preserve this treasure has been a topic of concern and
finding new ways to make energy. Forest Biomass as replacement of fossil fuels Fossil Fuels have
been a point of concern among environmentalist due to its harmful effects on the environment. The
potential for alternative energy has been thoroughly studied concerning the use of forest biomass.
Replacing fuels with biomass could reduce our foreign dependence on petroleum and minimize
CO2 emissions. When considering the benefits forest biomass can provide a domestic energy
resource, create local jobs and provide financial incentives to forest owners Studies have shown that
biomass supply ranging from 4.2 15.1 million metric tons/yr used in the most efficient current
technology, forest biomass energy would constitute 1.4 5.5% of the entire region s current energy
consumption . The region s size, population and energy consumption would determine the greater or
lesser benefit, which would be received by the use of biomass. The use of biomass would also
create jobs around the world, due to the fact that it

The Pros And Cons Of Anti-Semitism
A widely spoken about topic in America is Isms, they can be described as ways to discriminate
practices, cultures, and groups of people; moreover, there are lsists upon lists of isms in today s
society being used to discriminate. Significant oppressions in today s society are racism and
transphobia, and a similar case would be the discrimination of Jews. Represented as anti Semitism,
this can be defined as, Hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial
group ( Anti Semitism ).
Although Adolf Hitler s reign of terror had a significant part in defining anti Semitism, this dates as
far back to the ancient Roman times. In 70 AD the dawn of anti Semitism was exhibited when,
Roman authorities destroyed the Jewish temple in Jerusalem and forced Jews to leave Palestine (
The Holocaust ). Not only were Jews discriminated against prior in World War II and the Holocaust,
today, it is said that, Israeli Jews all but universally say anti Semitism is at least somewhat common
around the world today, including nearly two thirds who say it is very common. ( Anti Semitism and
discrimination ).
Israeli Jews have a strong opinion that, roughly three quarters say anti Semitism is not only common
but on the rise globally, while virtually no Israeli Jews say it is decreasing (Anti Semitism and
discrimination); On the other hand, Americans have an opposing view of the incline of anti
Semitism. Based on a HuffPost/YouGov survey, Thirty five percent of
Grapes Of Wrath Transcendentalism
In John Steinbeck s 1939 novel, The Grapes of Wrath, the theme of family is explored. Steinbeck
follows a family of migrants moving westward during the Great Depression/Dust Bowl era, and
chronicles their experiences as they live through overly inferior conditions. In Chapter Seventeen of
the novel, Steinbeck discusses what life is like generally for migrant families as they journey out
west. It becomes the norm for families to set up camp each night with other families and share their
food and experiences. The migrants set up their own rules for their society and through these rules,
the audience can understand how these people wish to be governed. Their ideals are very similar to
the ideals of Henry David Thoreau, a transcendentalist author, poet, philosopher, and historian. In an
essay entitled Civil Disobedience, Thoreau... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The migrants in Steinbeck s novel have similar beliefs, but also have differing opinions regarding
the function of government. Both Steinbeck and Thoreau agree that in a society, there should be no
ranks, and everyone should be equal and united in order for the society to function properly. When
referring to how the unity of the migrants started, Steinbeck says, In the evening a strange thing
happened: the twenty families became one family, the children were the children of all. The loss of
home became one loss, and the golden time in the West was one dream, (Steinbeck 264). The
migrants didn t have a lot of possessions when they moved westward. They were all very
impoverished, so there was nothing they had that others didn t that would lead

The Use of Alcohol Should be Banned for all State University Undergraduate Students
According to the Core Institute, an organization that surveys college drinking practices, 300,000 of
today s college students will eventually die of alcohol related causes such as drunk driving
accidents, cirrhosis of the liver, various cancers and heart disease (Phoenix House). All around the
State campus, at frat parties, in black light lit dorm rooms, and even at casual social gatherings,
alcohol can be found in abundance. Despite the many downsides to alcohol use, college students as a
whole maintain a very casual attitude toward drinking. I believe that drinking causes many more
problems than it is worth to anyone, which is why I propose that ... Show more content on

People who are normally shy tend to come out of their shells after a couple drinks. To many people,
being under the influence of alcohol is an important part of being social. In order to gain a clear
understanding of why the average college student drinks, I asked ten drinkers in my house what
their main reasons for drinking are. The most prevalent reasons given for drinking were that
drinking heightens their feelings of pleasure, allows them to be more social and have more fun, and
frees their mind, taking them away from their problems. A few said that they simply enjoy drinking
because they like the taste. Considering alcohol s ability as a mind altering substance to relax
people and make them feel good, it really is not surprising that many college students drink.
However, what also must be considered are the alternatives to drinking. A variety of relaxation
techniques exist to help people reduce stress and clear their minds. Among other activities, yoga,
massages, and enjoyable hobbies have been shown to reduce anxiety in people. Also, people can
receive psychotherapy or take medication to help deal with shyness (Shyness Clinic). There are
over 500 organizations here at Iowa State, making it easy for almost anyone to get involved and
have fun without resorting to alcohol. For those who drink alcohol for the taste, surely they can find
non alcoholic drinks that they enjoy drinking in place of alcohol.
Electronic Surveillance And Its Historical Context
The first part of this paper framed FISA in its historical context. The 1978 Act initially enacted
dealt only with electronic surveillance. It provided a statutory framework for collection of
foreign intelligence information through the use of electronic surveillance of communications of
foreign powers or agents of foreign powers. However, the Congress amended the act in 1995 and
1999 to provide a statutory framework for gathering foreign intelligence information through the
use of electronic surveillance, physical searches, pen registers or trap and trace devices, access to
business records and other tangible things. In sum, FISA grants broader authority than the Crime
Control Act, but under a narrower range of circumstances. To limit the abuse of the Executive
power that led to its passage, FISA also established the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Courts
(FISC). The FISC requires the government to submit an application to obtain a surveillance
warrant to a specially appointed FISA judge. Moreover, since the FISA warrant is secret, the
government in order to benefit from this higher level of secrecy bears a burden of showing that
there is probable cause to believe the target is a foreign power and that the targeted information
relates to the ability of the United States to protect against spying or terrorism. However, to address
changing circumstances after the terrorist attacks of September 911, Congress has repeatedly
amended FISA to adapt to the fight against
Princess Diana Essay example
When they feel like it is the end of the world, many people have trouble keeping a smile on their
face. Other people can continue to shine no matter how bad they feel. Those people can leave a
long lasting impact on the world. Princess Diana influenced millions of people from all over the
world, and her legacy will remain forever. Lady Diana Frances Spencer was born at home on July
1, 1961, in Norfolk, England (Morton 70). Her parents were very ashamed that she was a girl.
They wanted a boy very badly to keep the Spencer name (Morton 71). Diana had two older sisters
and one younger brother. She was always the closest to her brother, Charles, and admired him
strongly (Vickers 160). As a child, Diana was somewhat complicated. Growing up,... Show more

Diana grew up always feeling different and unlike anyone else. She was surrounded by stuffed
animals, considering them as her family (Morton 23 27). She could not rely on anyone but her
brother because they understood each other. She grew up always being jealous of her two older
sisters (Morton30). Diana Spencer met Prince Charles when she was sixteen years old, while
visiting with his family. Diana left a memorable impression. There was a thirteen year age
difference between the two of them, but they had a lot in common (Dolan 4). Diana had crushed
on Charles since she was a little girl. She was in love with him so much that she had a poster of
him hanging above her bed (Dolan 4). Diana always joked about how she should be more into
Prince Andrew because he was around her age, but she always longed for Charles. In 1980, Miss
Spencer and The Prince of Wales began talking about marriage. In 1981, Charles proposed to her,
and she immediately responded yes. Her dream was always to marry Charles (Dolan 14). On July
29, 1981, Lady Diana Frances Spencer and Charles Philip Arthur George were joined together in
holy matrimony in St. Paul s Cathedral. This day was the most remembered day in British history.
This was the largest media event of all time (The Prince 1 2). Half a million people joined the
couple at the royal wedding. Residents from London and every part of the world, along with the

How Does Alyson s Opinion On How Women Should Act
Alyson s view and opinion on how women should act Antifeminism then and now mean two
completely opposite things. In other words back when the bath of prologue tale was written the
women were considered gold diggers and it was fortunate for the men not to marry because
women were known just to take your money and distract you from your job and you would
eventually be left with nothing of your own and your wife would take you for all you got!
Women in this time period were seen as people who could not make their own decisions and could
only bring you bad luck if you did not control her the right way. Just as in El Cid his daughters were
his world and meant absolutely everything to him but even he gave up the right to wed them to
someone of much higher ranking than himself. Did we ever stop to think about what his daughters
wanted or what their take on the whole ordeal was? No,we mainly focused on the carreon infants and

Battle of Bull Run Essay
In Virginia the first battle of the Civil War was fought, near Manassas, Virginia railroad junction,
after which the battle is called (or First Bull Run, named after the flowing stream on the battlefield,
if of the Union point of view). The armies in this first battle were not prodigious by later Civil War
principles. The Federal services under Brigadier General Irvin McDowell were well thought out into
four divisions, of about 30,000 men. These divisions were commanded by Tyler, Hunter,
Heintzelman, and Miles. The Confederatecommand structure was to some extent more
unmanageable, including two quot;armies quot;, with no division structure and thirteen independent
brigades under Bonham, Ewell, Jones, Longstreet, Cocke, Early, Holmes,... Show more content on

General Patterson whose responsibility it was to keep General Johnson s troops occupied in the
Shenandoah Valley failed in this objective, and General Johnson began transporting his troops to the
South, by train (the first use of rail in war).
On July 16 General McDowell got his army of 34,000 men in action from Washington towards the
Confederate army. The distance to be covered 30 miles. The union officers had no experience
handling such large armies, and the union soldiers had no experience at being soldiers and thus the
march took much longer then it should have.
By the first evening advance elements of the army reached Fairfax courthouse. The few Confederate
pickets there quickly retreated. On the 18th the first elements reached the hamlet of Centerville. A
brigade was sent out from Centerville to reconnoiter the confederate lines, they found the
confederates and lost 80 men. General McDowell brought up the balance of his forces.
McDowell had 34,000 troops ready to attack 25,000 Confederate forces spread out over eight miles
on the other side of Bull Run. Most of the Confederate forces were clustered on the Confederate right
flank, prepared to counterattack. McDowell plan
Cultural Differences Between North And South Italy
Italian people also desire a good reputation and approval from their peers. Humor, agreeability,
reliability, and success in business and in social life are valued over assertiveness, and health, family,
serenity, and financial security are the highest valued attributes to Italians. Regional differences have
made attitudes and behaviors in the north and south differ greatly. Italians in the north value
punctuality, reliability, organization and economic success, while viewing time as something not to
be wasted. On the other hand, southern Italians value friendliness and warm character, while
enjoying a leisurely lifestyle and taking their time with different tasks. Another thing they care about
is undoubtedly their appearance. For Italians,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are often described as loud, and interruptions are expected. Also, they tend to be eloquent.
There is rarely a moment of silence during the conversation. Italian has characteristics of both Hall s
low and high context cultures. Northern Italy and Southern Italy differ by region, as the south is
more collectivist, and the north is more individualistic. Northern Italy follows Hall s high context
culture, and southern Italy follows Hall s low context culture. A high context communication style is
one in which most of the information is either in the physical context or internalized in the person,
while very little is in the coded, explicit, transmitted part of the message. It is a communication
derive much information from non verbal and environmental cues, which indicates there are less
words of a message. On the other hand, low context culture audiences derive more meaning from
the language in a message rather than the context the message is being delivered in. In fact,
Italian is more prone to high context messages, they do not need messages to be high context to
derive the message meaning (Republic of Italy). They are more open to a high context because
they perceive messages more than words; for instance, a color or a scenario might change the
meaning of the words completely. They are very expressive, and there is an intensive use of hand
gestures when speaking in order to convey their opinions. This is
