Research Paper On Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer: The Guy Next Door I started having obsessive thoughts of violence intermingled
with sex and it just got worse and worse ( Jeffrey Dahmer ). These are the words of one of the most
notorious serial killers of the twentieth century: Jeffrey Dahmer. Jeffrey Dahmer committed crimes
of murder, rape, necrophilia, dismemberment, and cannibalism. He committed seventeen murders
over the course of thirteen years, which consisted of mostly young African American males.
However, the people who knew Jeffrey Dahmer were entirely unaware of who he truly was. He
fooled family, friends, and even law enforcement into thinking of him as just the guy next door.

s mother was hospitalized twice for psychiatric problems. Jeffrey began acting out in school and
started drinking heavily; this continued throughout his high school career. He graduated high
school in 1978 and by this time his parents were going through a nasty divorce. Jeffrey was
essentially left alone to fend for himself. Jeffrey had been pushed to his breaking point and days
after graduating high school, he committed his first murder (Blanco). On June 18, 1978, Dahmer
picked up nineteen year old Steven Hicks. He took him back to his house for some beers and
when Hicks was ready to leave Dahmer hit him across the head with a barbell before strangling
him with it (Blanco). He removed the flesh from his body, crushed the bones, and disposed of the
remains in the backyard. Jeffrey did not commit another murder for nine years. During that period,
he enrolled in Ohio State University, but only stayed one semester before dropping out. In
December of 1978 Lionel remarried and days later Jeffrey was sworn into the army. However,
before his enlistment was up, he was discharged because of his heavy drinking. Jeffrey then
returned to Ohio, where he was arrested on two different occasions for disorderly

Paragraph A (Structure)

The novel s structure starts off with an event or more specifically a death that occurs early that
sets the tone and subject for the rest of the story that follows later on in thirty years. Colonel
Pyncheon is killed by Matthew Maule with a curse that is put on the Colonel and his family. God,
said the dying man, pointing his finger, with a ghastly look, at the undismayed countenance of his

Analysis Of Run Lola Run And Street Art I Love You
Tom Tykwer 1998 film, Run Lola Run and street art I love you by Banksy both explore
distinctively visual elements though various film techniques and visual techniques. The two texts
aim to manipulate the way in which we explore and interpret the images we are exposed to in our
world. One main reason these pieces interrelate is because both texts utilise various techniques in
order to create distinctively visual elements which explores the basic aspects of life love, time and
chance. Banksy s street art, I love you expresses the notion that there is a time restraint on love, this
is similar to how Tykwer conveys the importance of time, chance and destiny and its impact on the
individual though his unique tripartite structure and film techniques. Both the film and street art
manipulate aspects of construction to create distinctively visual texts.
Composers manipulate their texts to represent their chosen ideas of love and its importance through
various visual and film techniques. Tom Tykwer portrays distinctively visual elements in the film
Run Lola Run, elements such as the importance of love and relationships. Both Twyker and
Banksy explore the complex nature of human love. Banksy s street art called I love you depicts
the words I love you in bright red block letters, with a timer on the letter U to symbolise the
complexity of human love. Twyker s portrayal of the colour red is closely linked to love, death,
danger and urgency. Red is essential to the film as it
20th Century Canada Inventions
Many Canadians lives have developed and revolved around the inventions introduced in the 20th
century. It was a century in which the ideas and plans of scientists came into the lives of many
Canadians. Cultural and artistic accomplishments flourished, fed by the invention of radio
broadcasting. Many diabetic lives were saved and is gradually being saved today because of the
efforts of Dr. Frederick Banting and Charles Best. Automobiles created a new demand for more
jobs and invented the production of infrastructure. In the 20th century, Canadian society flourished
and was positively impacted by the development of the radio, insulin and the automobile. The
invention of the radio created many widespread uses and has benefited the whole Canadian nation.
People had access to news and political happenings across North America. July 1 first national

Simone De Beauvoir s View Of A Woman, Black And White,...
In my opinion, Simone de Beauvoir s quote stressed that using specific characteristics to define
certain groups of people was a dangerous practice. To me, Beauvoir s model of identity is one of
great diversity. When reading her work, it was evident that she thinks that all humans are multi
faceted, and should not be defined by one certain characteristic. Beauvoir believed there was no one
way to be a woman, a person of color, or a Jew. Each group exhibits an array of qualities that make
up individuals, rather than defining categories. She expresses that rejecting the existence of
unique qualities of each group is to deny their plight. By stating that there are no differences
between man and woman, black and white, Jew and gentile is to ignore all the social inequalities
assigned to women, people of color, and Jews by those outside these groups. To support my views
on Beauvoir s outlook, I will use the work of Alexandra Kollontai and Primo Levi to compare the
views of another woman as well as a Jewish man on this issue.
Beauvoir is a French feminist icon who helped establish the idea of feminism not only in France, but
all over the Western world. I believe Beauvoir s opinions on the root causes of sexism can also, to
an extent, be applied to the issues faced by all minority groups in a world dominated mostly by
Protestant white men. To Beauvoir, they are all considered the Other by the majority, who are the

the country watching the society and make sure they obey their very strict laws that are placed

symbol, motifs, character and theme with the critical lens being the reader s personal response. Big

Winston had went to a second hand store and had found the diary there and bought it thinking it
would be a place where he would be able to escape the real world. It was absurd, since the writing
of those particular words was not more dangerous than the initial act of opening the diary, but for
a moment was tempted to tear out the spoiled pages (Orwell 19). The party believed that if you
were to open a diary you would be saying unwitting stuff about big brother and it would get you
punished if you were to actually say it. Therefore, they had made it a law that the people cannot
open a diary. Winston had thought that if he were to get rid of the pages such as tear them out
that he would be fine and he wouldn t be able to be caught for breaking the law of opening a diary.
Winston wrote anything that came to mind in his diary. Down with big brother (Orwell 64).
Winston wasn t focusing on what he was writing and finally when he gained back his attention he
had looked down at the papers of his diary and saw that he had written Down with big brother four
times. Saying this Winston was really determining whether to throw away the spoiled pages or not.
If there is hope, it lies in the proles (Orwell 83). What Winston was saying was that if there was any
hope that the people would be able to become free nevertheless
Los Matachines
Every Step is a form of Prayer Intricate costumes, rhythmic movement, expression of culture, and
religious backgrounds all make up the art form of the dance of los Matachines. The traditional
dance drama of los Matachines is danced by both men and women of all ages. Essentially, every
costume and instrument used by los Matachines is self made by the dancers and can be created from
many different materials such as rocks, sand, feathers, etc. To begin their dance, these dancers will
form two lines facing each other with enough space in between, while the two main dancers at the
moment move along through the middle of those lines performing their specific piece in the dance.

These two dancers are selected depending on their experience which includes their skills and
maturity in dance. The main characters consist of El Monarca Montezuma, his bride La
Malinche, El Abuelo, and El Toro followed by the rest of of the group of Matachines. Like I
mentioned before, every group of Matachines will have their own story to tell depending on the
event however, they all dance for the same religious purpose. One of the main stories ever told by
any group of Matachines is typically about one of the main characters, Malinche, whose only
desire is for El Monarca to murder El Toro who is represented by a man with horns on his head
running around and through the dancers. El Toro threatens Monarca, Malinche, and anyone else in
his way. The evil then is finally overpowered, killed, and castrated. There will be times when a
Torito comes in the act, played by a young boy who represents the bull being reborn. Last but not
least, El Abuelo and La Vieja are the characters meant for comic relief summing up a brief

Luhrmann The Great Gatsby
It s the newness that Luhrmann seems to bring to his movies, most notably Moulin Rouge and
Romeo + Juliet, that grabs the attention most immediately. In calibrating our expectations for
Gatsby, it s interesting to look at the last classic work he adapted, the 1996 Leo DiCaprio/Claire
Danes feature based on the Shakespearean play. A lot of adaptations of Shakespeare s work try to
do what Luhrmann does, reimagining the story in a contemporary setting, and they re met with
varying degrees of success. Even stranger is Luhrmann s word for word retention of the
Shakespearean dialogue, resulting in a bizarre juxtaposition of old language and new technology and
surroundings. This is also kind of the perfect story for Luhrmann s attitude. There s

These secret assassinations led Mao Zedong to be a step closer of taking over China. Nevertheless,
Chairman Mao was never convicted for the deaths since he was the leader of People s Republic

power for own personal gain. As it was written in the text, Mao was the only millionaire created in
Mao s China. (333) Based on the statement, Chairman Mao presumably seized all the finest items
away from the people, while they suffered from the dearth of food. Also, Chang and Halliday
highlighted that the chairman immensely wanted power by contacting Soviet Union s leader, Joseph

up his position that the authors emphasized. Mao: The Unknown Story was a remarkable and
dramatizing biography of Mao Zedong. Jung Chang and Jon Halliday depicted China s chairman as
pitiless leader that was behind the majority of the slaughters under his rule. The effects that Mao left
on China were astonishing to learn about. Mao s philosophy was the strangest thought that did not
function properly as it should have. Cravings for absolute power made Chairman Mao to become a
vicious tyrant. Mao Zedong s impact on China was an

Benito Mussolini was a pompous Italian dictator who strived and accomplished in making Italy a
fascist state. There are various factors that lead to the popularity and power of the despot leader such
as the outcomes of the Treaty of Versailles, the inefficient government and democratic system, fear
of the Blackshirts, and the poor economy. Italyfought alongside the Allies during World War One,
for this reason the Italian government was assured in the Treaty of London to receive parts of

advances in the North such as the first Fiat factor opening in Turin, the south still remained in
