The Inquiry Approach to Learning Essay
Inquiry is an interactive way of learning. Students are actively engaged in their studies. Inquiry
involves student centered activities focusing on questioning, exploring, and posing explanations. The
goal of inquiry is to introduce a new way of learning where students can learn about the world
around them through active engagement in real life examples. Inquiry based learningcan be
incorporated into all academic subjects throughout the curriculum. Sciencecould possibly be the most
effective subject to incorporate inquiry. In Science, teachers serve as the facilitator of learning,
guiding them through the inquiry process. Teachers must ask open ended questions, allow time for
the students to answer, avoid telling students what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are given several minutes to explore. Students must find a desirable question to research and
conduct the experiment based on their observations. Students are considered to be scientists in the
inquiry process. Children will view themselves as scientists as they learn. They look forward to
science, demonstrate a desire to learn more, seek collaboration with their classmates, they are
confident in doing science, and willing to take risks. Students are readily engaged in exploring
science. They have curiosity, ponder observations, move around to get the materials they need, and
have the opportunity to try out their ideas. Students are able to communicate using various amounts
of methods. They express their ideas in journals, reporting, or drawing. They listen, speak, and write
about science. They communicate their level of understanding of concepts and ideas. The students
propose explanations and solutions based off their data. They use investigations to satisfy their own
questions. They sort out information that is needed and important. They become willing to revise
explanations and gain new knowledge. They raise questions, use questions to lead them to
investigations, and students begin to enjoy using questions to ponder ideas. Students begin to
observe rather than look. They see details, detect sequences, and notice change, similarities, and
differences. The students begin to make
Lin-Manuel Miranda
Lin Manuel Miranda, An artist of the 21st Century.
A bright light breaks through the darkness of the theater house, illuminating the stage with vibrant
colors. Then the music starts, music that s taken years of preparing. The show begins as singing,
rapping, and dancing erupts on stage. Then the mastermind of the show comes on Lin Manuel
Miranda he wrote everything you re hearing, and even sings it. His acting is phenomenal and the
show is perfection. By definition an artist is someone who is skilled at a particular task or
occupation, not just someone who paints, sculpts or draws. This describes Lin Manuel Miranda
perfectly because, he is remarkable at what he does, composing music, singing and acting.
For more than a decade, Lin Manuel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his first major musical In The Heights, he casted himself as one of the main characters, Usnavi.
He both acted and sang/rapped in this musical. Years later after writing Hamilton he ,once again,

was nominated for two tony awards. Though he didn t win the awards it he still was nominated.
Lin Manuel Miranda did not just act and sing in musicals however. He has guest starred in many
popular television shows including How I met Your Mother, House, The Sopranos, Saturday Night

How Urbanisation Significantly Influences Bird Communities...
INTRODUCTION
The most drastic influences of human modifications result from urbanisation, a progression
characterised by human disturbance, buildings and other artificial infrastructure (Hahs and
McDonnell 2006). Such modifications have significant effects on biodiversity, often with little
thought being given to the long term effects and ways of mitigating them.
In most cases, human alteration of the environment has reduced biological diversity by replacing the
native flora with new ecological spaces. However, urbanization, especially in suburbia, can introduce
many new resources (McDonnell and Pickett 1990; Pickett et al. 2001) which coexist with the
natural biota and increases diversity of avifauna in semi urban environments. It is ... Show more

These sites varied from industrial/urban areas to native vegetation hotspots, parklands and residential
areas. At each site the standardised search bird survey method was used (Watson 2003) with the
boundaries of the designated patch provided, the area was searched for any birds present (on
ground, in trees or in flight). Each detection was recorded according to their species, number
observed and the time observed. This process continued until no new species was sighted for 20
minutes. Any observations about the site s vegetation, man made infrastructure and number of large
native trees (over 50 cm wide) were noted.
Then, a polygon was created for the shape of each site using Daft Logic (http://www.daftlogic.com
/projects google maps area calculator tool.htm) and converted into a KML file (using http:/
/converter.mygeodata.eu/) where the .shp file was opened in i Tree Canopy (http:/
/www.itreetools.org/canopy/index.php). The site s landscape features and coverage were
characterised according to the categories: trees/shrubs, impermeable surfaces, grass, water and soil
/bare ground with 20 random sampling points used per hectare. This was also conducted for the
surrounding landscape (a 250 m radius around centre of site). All coverage data was collated and
cross examined to explore the similarities and difference in bird diversity and richness.

Camille Veerhoeven Research Paper
Two prostitutes were brutally murdered in Paris. Commandant Camille Verhoeven, a diminutive
man of only four feet eleven inches, realized that the crime scene was a pastiche from a classic
crime novel, American Psycho. With help from an eccentric bookseller, Camille soon found out
that it was a serial killer, who paid homage to crime novels, and re enacted the murder scenes
faithfully. Camille challenged The Novelist by posting a message to him, which made the case
personal. My Thoughts: Irene is the first book of the Verhoeven Trilogy, but its sequel Alex was first
translated from French to English. Following Alex s phenomenal success, Irene was introduced to
the U.S. The reason why Commandant Camille is deeply traumatized is revealed

aspects, therefore becoming one people, but generally the dominate society characterizes prevail as

The Abolition Of The Slave System
Secondly, not only was the argument that slavery disappeared when abolition clearly became the
economically rational option but another partial cause to the conclusion of slavery can be grasped
in the changing social system of nations during this era. Morales of those both directly and not
directly involved with the slave trade were transforming. The harshness of the slave system was
being proven by the many slave suicides, runaways, first hand stories, and rebellions. Rousseau
spread the idea in his writings of personal liberty and equality of all men, which included the African
slaves. The realization of what slaveryentailed was becoming more known to society and the
increasing belief of liberty for all, including slaves, was budding. Potential political benefits from
the abolition of slavery were an increasingly common idea that had surfaced from the prevalent idea
that slavery was immoral. Without the support from the British Parliament the Parliamentary acts
that was necessary to effect change would not have occurred. Changes in moral progress, in ideas
about ethics and morality, played an important part in bringing about the end of slavery. Abolition
movements became the driving force of ridding economies of the process of slavery with the aid of
forced coercion, through Civil war, to accepting the end of slavery in the Americas.
In the early modern period of Europe the view of the people was that only non Europeans could be
enslaved and the availability of
The Shaman Clawed And Growled At The Remaining Tardocs,...
The Shaman clawed and growled at the remaining tardocs, pushing them together. Get her into the
cave! Its claws slashed the muzzle of one of the attackers. Jonus reached out to River. Please,
come to me. She leapt right to his arms, grabbing his neck and curling into a ball. Her stinging
heat burned his chest and neck, but he ignored the pain. His heart soared. If she feared him, she
would not have clung to him. Jonus ran with her into the cave. The heat from the walls melted his
flesh, a searing pain that went to his bone. Jonus bit back a scream. Screaming would scare River.
At least the voices quieted to a muffled buzz in the back of the head. He fell to his knees and put
River on the floor. What s wrong? River asked. N... nothing. After River stepped back from him,
he crawled to the cooler wall opposite the Fire Letters. Jonus, please, tell me what s wrong.
Everything is all right. Breathing slow lessened the pain, slightly, the burning reaching only
muscle deep. The heat of River s body was nothing compared to this. Hope, heat does not bother
you. You, safe here. Is it too hot for you in here? Fine. No, you are not. River began pushing him
towards the cave opening. Must protect you. Protect me from the entrance. She was worried about
him? Why? He waited for an answer and then remembered she could no longer read his mind. She
began pulling him, her back toward the opening. That was too dangerous. Going. He slid her aside.

Analysis Of On Dumpster Diving Essay
English 101 Final Essay Q1: Discuss the contemporary issues in every essay A) A contemporary
problem raised in On Dumpster Diving by Lars Eighner Is the amount of wealth spent by
consumers, and the effect of that. Consumers spend too much money and waste even more when
they throw food and clothing away. In the essay he explains the way of life as an scavenger and
how to demonstrate how people are able to live by the minimal resources although most
consumers continue to buy things they do not need and continue to waste resources that may be
valuable to others. Aside from food, he additionally describes the emotional impact that living out
of a dumpster can have on a person. He describes finding sad things such as abandoned teddy
bears, shredded wedding books, and pets lying in state. Seeing the pets makes him think about
his dog Lizbeth and how she is likely to end up with a dumpster as her final resting place, as
Eighner does not see himself having a place for her before she passes on. Rummaging causes
Eighner to consider how much individuals underestimate, including the way that they can purchase
something new to replace something old that they have discarded. He feels frustrated because of
the individuals who don t have that extravagance. B) Our Wall by Charles Bowden speaks of a
very well known contemporary issue that affects millions of people everyday, it focuses mainly on
the subject of illegal immigration and the building of a wall to keep the illegal
Trust In Macbeth
For there to be betrayal, there would have to have trust first (Collins 114). Trust is difficult to gain,
but easy to break. So when betrayal occurs, most likely, that trust is shattered. People have to be
very careful of who they trust or who they get attached to or they can end up in a world of hurt,
physically or emotionally. If you trustin a person because they do something amazing or is currently
popular, chances are that is not the way to gain confidence in another person and it could result in a
less than favorable situation where your trust is shown to be flawed. Trust should be gained by your
personal experiences and your own instincts. The worst part about betrayal is that it plants the seeds
of doubt in someone s mind, resulting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The war itself, in England s eyes, was the very definition of treason. But within American borders,
there were several major cases of betrayal. During the war, there were tensions between New York
and Vermont. ...Vermont, which declared its own independence from New York in 1777 and
petitioned Congress for recognition. New York, Virginia, and other southern states were not in
support of Vermont and it was considered potential treason. One of the most infamous betrayal
acts in history came from the American Revolution. Benedict Arnold was a general from the
American army but defected to the British Army. ...Arnold s treason rattled the leadership of the
American Revolution... and therefore people were unsure of who was really on the American
side. People were angry too because, In Philadelphia, the citizens burned Arnold in an effigy a

of his treason, Americans would have a hard time trusting American generals and his treachery

Kinetic Production of Isoborneol through the...
Through an oxidation reduction reaction sequence, Borneol is converted to isoborneol. First,
borneol is oxidized through a reaction with sodium hypochlorite at 400C to form camphor. When
the camphor is then reduced by sodium borohydride, isoborneol is formed. The percent yeild of
isoborneol collected was 56.4%, and the melting point range was found to be between 174.2
179.90C. Through analysis of the product through 1H NMR spectroscopy the percent purity is found
to be 77.2% pure isoborneol.
Introduction
Oxidation reduction reactions can be used to stereochemically control and produce many different
organic molecules. The oxidation step in this process increases the number of carbon oxygen bonds
by losing a hydrogen and breaking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The sodium hypochlorite was formed by using hypochlorous acid and adding glacial acetic acid and
acetone to the solution. These reagents were later removed from the product by washing and transfer
of solutions. The unwanted organic layer was removed with dichloromethane. A sodium bisulfate
solution removed sodium hypochlorite and acetic acid was removed using sodium bicarbonate. Any
water was lastly removed by saturated sodium chloride.
After isolating my camphor product I determined I obtained a 51% yield. I attribute this lower
than expected yield to the multiple washing and transferring of products. Using a portion of my
product I tested the melting point and had a range of 167.8 173.9oC. I used another sample of the
camphor I isolated for 1H NMR analysis. This analysis enabled for assessing the purity of the
camphor by looking for a disappearance of the characteristic signal around 4.0ppm of borneol. The
camphor sample contained a very small signal at 4.0ppm and not the large doublet expected in a
pure sample of borneol. The only other signal found both in the camphor and the borneol was at
7.25ppm which indicates the CHCl3 present in the NMR sample tubes.
As always following oxidation comes the reduction of the camphor to isoborneol. This step, taking
place in a methanol solution, was completed by using sodium borohydride which was used as the ion
donor. This reduction step
