New York City, Brooklyn, Queens, And Staten Island Essay
New York City is made up of five boroughs, which include the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens,
and Staten Island. Within these boroughs, there are high and low income neighborhoods that contain
either high or low status organizational structures or facilities. Each division has their own
characteristics and top attractions, such as the Empire State building, Central Park, or Times Square.
As New York Citymay be known for great food and fun attractions, New York faces infrastructure
problems within each borough. New York City s infrastructure funding is limited in lower income
neighborhoods, where money needed to upkeep the city goes toward prime tourist s areas or
residents living in high status neighborhoods, such as The Upper East Side of Manhattan, Cobble
Hill, Brooklyn, and Lenox Hill, Manhattan. Moreover, abandoned buildings, poor sewage conditions,
and rocky roads and streets are examples of low income area infrastructure problems that may hinder
neighborhood growth both structurally and economically. Harlem, East Brooklyn, and South Bronx
are low income parts of New York that lack new and refined facilities, roads, plumbing, and
fundamental structures, which contribute to high crimeand arrests.
New York faces a various number of infrastructure issues, regardless of the neighborhood status
quo. Many city roads, subways, bridges, water mains, sewer systems, school buildings, and other
public buildings are over 50 years old. More than 200 of New York City s public

was used . Now read on to answer those questions,. remember them.
The first piano that started everything was created in Padua Italy 1709. In Italy a man named
Bartolomeo Cristofori invented the first piano, his birth date was: 1653 and his death was: 1731
.Christofori called the first piano , pianoforte italian words combined together, which mean soft
loud. The piano is a part of the percussion family, because as you press down on the key the
hammers inside the piano hit the string causing to vibrate like drums with sticks. The materials that
Elizabeth s Traditions
This paper will evaluate whether by the end of Elizabeth s reign how far had there been a break
from tradition within English Christianity. When we discuss use the term tradition what we really
mean is the Catholic Church. Preceding Elizabeth s reign there had much change due to her Fathers
initial break from Rome, her brothers more hard line Protestant changes, the restoration of
Catholicism under Mary and of course Elizabeth s reign. These dramatic events all occurred in a 30
year period hence the importance of understand the throne and religious beliefs that Elizabeth
inherited in order to understand what the traditions actually were. This paper will then assess
specifically the Elizabethan changes, opponents to this and the state of affairs... Show more content

The act of uniformity though certainly a move away from Mary s Catholic Church reintroduced in
some form some of the traditions that were present during Edward s reign, the English Bible and the
stamping out of Catholic traditions. Roger Martyn s account of Long Melford Church prior to the
reformation shows the dramatic changes in the church furnishing which characterised Traditional
Christianity. Martyn recollects the high altar , the blessed sacrament , Latin songs, processions, all
things that were typical of the Catholic church which were abolished due to the reformation by
Henry, Edward and later abolished again and reiterated through the acts of Uniformity by Elizabeth.
By the end of her reign due to her changes being present for such a long period of time (many of the
English people had only ever known Elizabeth on the throne) her Church of England was seen as the
traditional faith. There was of course dissent notably from the Catholic Spanish Armada who were
defeated, Elizabeth stood pretty much
Reformers During The Progressive Era
After the Civil War and during the Progressive Era there were the group of reformers that changed
the landscape the United States. These reformers were mainly comprised of men and women from
the large northern cities and rural religious communities of Wisconsin (Schultz, 2013). The industrial
age created enormous amounts of wealth, but people were living in the worst conditions and
working longer hours than ever before. The Social Gospel movement sought to improve the working
conditions, restrict the child labor laws and fight for social justice (Fales, 2013). This methodology
was directly against what the Industrialist believed. Which was a Darwinist attitude of the survival of
the fittest. The next influential reformer group that had a
Andre Dubus Techniques
Andre Dubus use of disordered chronology allows readers to feel sympathy towards each character
differently. Dubus style of writing the events out of order also contributes to the way the characters
are portrayed as the story progresses. The development of the characters is shown through a different
perspective using flashbacks and backstories as well. The interpretation of Killings is based up on
how the reader responds to Dubus use of disordered chronology, flashback, backstory, and the
somewhat of a resolution at the end with the conversation between Matt and Ruth. Dubus uses the
mixed up chronology from the very beginning of the story. By starting off the story at the setting of
the funeral by saying, On the August morning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The background written on Richard Strout gives the reader an idea of where Richard came from and
what he s been through over the years. For example, people who have ever had any interaction with
Stout are described as having multiple images of him, the high school running back, the young drunk
in bars, the oblivious hard hatted young man eating his lunch at a counter, the bartender who could
perhaps be called courteous but not more than that. (64) These images of Strout aren t very
surprising and give somewhat of an understanding towards why he is the way he is at the time of the
murder. On the other hand, the background on Strout has a slight sympathetic tone, although not one
significant enough to justify the reason he murdered Frank. One notable flashback was the scene
illustrating the moment Richard shot Frank. Dubus places this description right in the middle of the
story with no warning, writing, Richard Strout shot Frank in front of the boys. They were sitting on
the living room floor...Frank sitting on the couch, and Mary Ann just returning from the kitchen with
a tray of sandwiches. (67) The scene here is portrayed very innocently, making any sympathy felt for
Richard from the background disappear. Richard s character is automatically negative after this
moment. The murder description is also important because it is another justification that could be
used for Matt s
Initial Literacy Assessment Report From Tch 209 I Am...
Initial literacy assessment report
For this semester of TCH 209 I am working with a second grade girl named Yainany. After taking a
few running records I found out that she is at a level H reading level which would be the
equivalent of a high first grade reader. To get to know my student I printed out a reading survey and a
get to know you worksheet. The reading survey was asking questions about what genres of books
she likes, what are some of her favorite things (books, tv shows, animals, sports, characters, jobs,
activities), if reading is fun for her, if reading is easy for her, if she reads at home, and how she likes
to read. The get to know you worksheet had her color her own person based on some of her favorite
things like her favorite color, if she likes to read, her favorite subject, the color of her eyes, and how
many siblings she has. These helped me get to know her as a reader and as a person by knowing
how she reads and what interests her. One assessment that I did with my student was three running
records. I did a Level J book, a Level I, and a Level H book. For the first book, Level J, she got an
85% which was not high enough to be her reading level. I then went to a Level I book and she got
an 92% which was still not high enough to be her reading level. The last book I did in my
running records assessment was the Level H book and with that book she got a 95% which was
high enough to be her reading level and she does a great job reading books at that level.
Malthusian Catastrophe Research Paper
A reverend named Thomas Robert Malthus, who was influential in the fields of economics, politics,
and demographics, came up with the theory of malthusianism. Malthusianism describes how the
population tends to increase at a faster rate than its means of subsistence, and unless it is checked, it
will cause widespread poverty and degradation. Malthus also wrote an essay on the principles of
population, which described that unchecked growth is exponential, while the growth of the food
supply is expected to be minimal at best.
Malthus believed there were two checks that could reduce the population, returning it to a more
sustainable level. He believed that abstinence, delaying marriage until finances become suitable for a
family, and restricting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An example of natural Malthusian catastrophe would be a disease that wipes out most of the poverty
in a region. An example of forcing a Malthusian catastrophe would be setting laws on the number
of children you can have. I think it would be best to let it happen naturally, but if it is to out of
control, then it would be better to force it. The longer a country remains over populated, the harder
it will become to be able to return the population back to balance.
If a Malthusian catastrophe were to happen naturally, you could say that the earth has its own
checks to maintain the population. When a certain region becomes over populated, that region
becomes filled with poverty. A deadly disease could arise and kill many of the people living in
poverty, balancing out the population back to normal. Many people who live in poverty do not
have good living conditions, and a severe storm could also cause a lot of destruction and death.
A Malthusian catastrophe can be simplified into three basic concepts: production, distribution, and
technology. These three concepts can all be related back to the food supply of a population. How to
produce more food, distribute the food equally, and use technology to help prevent a Malthusian
catastrophe.
Essay about Mirrors Don’t Lie in Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. s...
Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. s The Lie Mirrors Don t Lie

In The Lie by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr., Eli Remenzel is a thirteen year old boy on his way to The
Whitehill Preparatory School with his parents. Little do they know that Eli is keeping a big secret
from them: he didn t get accepted to the school. As the story unfolds Eli finally cracks under the
pressure of the lie as the headmaster informs his parents that he wasn t accepted at Whitehill. What
happens next is a disaster. As I was reading the story I noticed a lot of qualities in the different
characters that are traits I see in myself. Eli, his mother Sylvia, and his father Doctor Remenzel all
have different characteristics that reflect me. These ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I really dislike this trait in myself, so when I read it in Eli I took an immediate disliking to his
character in trying to suppress my own feelings about myself. But this is not the only flaw I noticed
about myself from the story.

Eli s mother Sylvia and I also have a lot in common. Through out the entire story she was enraptured
in talking about how many Remenzels had attended the Whitehill School and what contributions
they had made to it. She stated during one part of the drive to the school:

I look through this catalog, and I see all the buildings named after Remenzels, look through the
back and see all the hundreds of dollars given by Remenzels for scholarships, and I just can t help
thinking people named Remenzel are entitled to ask for a little something extra.

She was, infact, so enthralled by this information and talking of the school that she failed to notice
the strange and awkward behavior of her son. Again, it took reading the story a few times to
understand that this is another unattractive quality that I possess. I have the ability to become overly
involved in things and I forget to pay attention and listen to the people around me. What particularly
stood out in my mind and made me aware of this similarity was Sylvia s excessive repetition of the
word I. To me it represents her attention only being focused on what she
