San Diego City Analysis
As a person who has now lived in San Diego for over 22 years and a Latino, it is impossible not to
see the medley of direct influences of Hispanic culture in this border town. Because Hispanic people
heavily populate the city and it s proximity to Mexico, representations of this thriving culture can be
found in the city s art, food, religion, architecture, economy, and politics. To get a better
understanding of this, we must start at the beginning.

Psychological Responses On Global Climate Change
Psychological Responses to Global Climate Change

Climate change is not a problem waiting for a solution. It is an environmental, cultural, and political
phenomenon which is reshaping the way we think about ourselves, our societies and humanity s
place on Earth (Hulme, 2009, xx).

Global climate change is one of the most important social and political issues facing humanity today.
During last year s State of the Union Address President Obama asserted, No challenge no challenge
poses a greater threat to future generations than climate change (Lombrozo, 2015). Commonly
referred to as global warming , climate change can be defined simply as an increase in the earth s
overall temperature. According to scientists at NASA s Goddard Institute for Space Studies
(GISS), the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius (1.4°
Fahrenheit) since 1880 and is steadily rising (Carlowicz, 2016), with April of 2016 being the
hottest month ever recorded (USGCRP, 2016). For the past five years, we have also experienced the
warmest winters in history (Saad and Jones, 2016; Swim et al., 2016). More broadly, climate change
can be characterized by changes in the whole Earth system, including the atmosphere, the
hydrosphere, the cryosphere, and the biosphere
(Swim et al., 2016). In addition to rising temperatures, this includes more frequent wildfires and
hurricanes, rising sea levels, longer periods of drought in some regions and an increase in the number,

This effect trickle down to the woman in the village, whom all she had known to do all her life is
to combine many things together at the same time, like carrying a breastfeeding baby on her laps,
using one hand to blow the fire she created with woods which she is using to cook for her family,
using the other hand to stir the cassava flour on fire, and at the same time, weaving a basket at
intervals. She has it in mind to sell the basket in the market on the next market day. How pathetic
it will be for her to go through all that stress, and at the end of the day she loses the profits to a
hooligan who was actually turned a hooligan by the youth unemployment crisis. At the other
extreme, a rich man in the city gets a large amount of money from a contract and could not deposit
it in the bank that day because the money came late and banks had closed for the day. He
prayerfully takes the money home to deposit it first thing the following morning. That same night,
Mr. Smart Guy comes with a team of others to rob the rich man of his money. At the same time, in
between the two extremes, lies the average civil servant who stays at home one evening with his
family watching a family programme on TV. The entire neighbourhood was actually dark due to
power outage. The family only had an exclusive interest in the programme and managed to put on
their generating set in order not to miss the program. This was around 8.00pm.
Change Management Process In The Movie Miracle On Ice
In the movie Miracle on Ice , Coach Herb Brooks takes his team in the National Hockey League
through the Kotter s 8 Step Change Management Process to become successful in the Winter
Olympic Games of 1980. Many of Herbs actions and techniques seem to be unorthodox at first,
but people soon began to realize that the changes that were made did in fact make a difference.
These changes led to the USA victory against the Soviets and all together the 1980 Olympics.
This paper will discuss how Brooks takes the organization through these 8 changes. The first step
in the change process is to create a sense of urgency. Coach Herb originally starts this step out in
his interview for the head coaching position of the USA team. He brings to the table that he wants
to change the entire process that the teams usually go through. These changes include not relying
on players that just have talent, using a team chemistry to drive teamwork, longer/harder
workouts, use different playing strategies and using less experienced players. These created a
sense of urgency to the board he was presenting to because using less experienced players while
initiating changes that had never been done before would possibly take longer and need more work
than their usual process. Secondly, forming a powerful coalition would be the next step in the
change process for Coach Herb to follow, which would include getting people to support the changes
he is going to make. In the beginning, Herb did not have much

So many cultures have divinities in similar roles because events have identified different
experiences with similar results. As humans we thrive on the need to believe, so rely heavily on
hope and faith. Divinities enforce a sense of beauty and positivity that allows one to go beyond
good versus evil. There is an overlap between roles because they are often identified by powers and
forces granted to mortal individuals. For example, most supernatural powers are associated with
storms and thunder being extended to other spirit beings to wash away negativity and make an
example of their enemies.

Gay Marriage Research Paper
In today s society, there are many stereotypical people that are against gay or lesbian marriage.
Everyone should have the right to decide on who they would like to marry. Gay marriage should
be legal and a non punishable offense because it can prevent teenage suicides, more children will be
adopted, and people will not feel like second class citizens.
If humanity were to accept gay marriage, it would lower and prevent some teen suicides. Most teens
are deciding and revealing what path they are going to take in middle and high school. The number
of suicide attempts among high school students decreased in states where same sex marriage was
legal. The findings covered thirty two states that legalized same sex marriage from 1999 to 2015
(Willingham). All kids have a difficult time coming out to the world, and it causes them not to feel
heard or accepted. When states make it legal more people that do not support it change their views
when they see it is not different from a ordinary couple.
Many teens also feel less accepted by the world when it comes to other kids in their school. Students
that do not support others orientation creates a discomforting environment. Unsafe school
environments prevent LGBT students from reaching their full academic potential (Slater). The
children have to feel heard or they will fall into a depression and will shut out everyone that cares
about them. Therefore, safe spaces for LGBT students ( LGBT Youth ) Which will allow kids to

Offer And Handling Contingencies
13. Negotiating an Offer and Handling Contingencies
There are several different tactics for negotiating an offer on your home and they will depend on
whether you re in a buyer s market or a seller s market. Once you receive an offer, your real estate
agent will offer recommendations about how you should proceed.
If the buyer s contract includes contingencies this is where things can get a little tricky. If the
contract includes verbiage that asks for repairs, an inspection contingency, or a contingency to sell
their home prior to buying yours, there will be several ways for you to proceed. If the buyer has to
sell their home before closing on yours, you will have to decide whether to accept their offer, not

Your real estate agent should be able to give you a list of home inspections that are required for your
type of home and for your area so you know what to expect.
16. Final Walk Through
Approximately 24 hours prior to closing, the buyer and the buyer s agent will do a walkthrough of
your home to make sure it s in the same condition as it was when the contract was signed. And to
make sure all required repairs have been completed.
17. Closing
On closing day, all closing paperwork will be signed by both parties, the deed will then be filed at
the county courthouse, and all bills will be paid such as agents commissions, mortgage payoffs
(if applicable), and a proceeds check will be disbursed if you are due one after anything you agreed
to pay during the sale is deducted from your proceeds. That is unless your home s proceeds don t

Slip And Fall Injury Essay
It is not uncommon for a person injured in a slip and fall accident to not realize they were hurt
until a day or more after the incident. Pain may arise from the fall itself, or the impact may have
aggravated a pre existing condition. Back pain that results from a slip and fall accident could
possibly be very serious, and should not be ignored. Some common slip and fall or trip and fall
injuries include:

Cervical spine injuries These injuries involve the neck. A bone may dislocate, potentially damaging
the spinal cord. This unstable situation generally requires surgical correction.

Fracture A broken bone in the spine causes intense pain. In backward falls, the tailbone is often
involved. Fractures range in severity, from simple fractures

and 10.5% market shares respectively (Figure 1), compete on differentiated strategies targeting the
upper consumer market (Porter, 1980). Over 10% of the total working population are employed in

Essay on Personal Freedom Song of Solomon
Search for Personal Freedom Song of Solomon

Personal freedom is the ability to ignore societal and familial influences to find the true sense of
self. Individuals are truly liberated when they are physically, mentally, and spiritually free. The
search for personal freedom is exemplified in Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. The main
protagonist, Milkman achieves personal freedom through attainment of knowledge, by confronting
his family, and by overcoming the prejudices of society.

Knowledge is a primary factor in the attainment of personal freedom. This includes not only
scholarly education but also awareness of historical heritage and familial legacy. The fact that African
Americans were held in human bondage cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, he eventually realizes that money will not satisfy what is missing from his life. He
therefore, begins his search for his sense of self. Milkman metamorphosizes after his journey into his
ancestral history which gave him the means to become personally free.

A second element essential for personal freedom is the ability to break familial ties that hinder or
restrain us on our individual journeys. Milkman had the courage to leave his family to discover his
sense of self. Everyone is affected by childhood events, but it is important that these incidents do not
prohibit us from discovering our true selves. David Willbern in Reading After Freud states that
[p]atterns of expectation, satisfaction and frustration in early life provide templates for the gradual
construction and emergence of self (Willbern 160). Milkman aspires to evolve from their childhood
nightmares to actualize their personal freedom.

Although Milkman lived in the Twentieth Century and is not physically a slave, he is repressed
by his family. Milkman s parents love him; however, Morrison refers to their love as an anaconda
love as they squeeze the life out of Milkman and leave little room for growth and maturity. Ruth
Dead is so possessive of Milkman that she continues to breast feed him long after he should have
been weaned as his legs [were] dangling almost to the floor (Morrison 13). When Freddie caught
them in the act, Milkman had been rechristened

In addition, the computer generated assignment and a variable block randomisation method were
also used. Although there is no specific mention of similarity of baseline among groups, in table 1,
the 95% confidence intervals of subjects characteristics was no significant differences. Moreover,
all subjects and staff involved in data interpretation were blinded although there were no specific
comments of concealment of allocation. Unfortunately, therapists administered the intervention
were not blinded. Although the average of completed follow up rates was 80 % which was not
statistically satisfying, considering the long term period of intervention (18 months), the result of
the rate seemed to be acceptable. Also, the average of drop out rates on 6 months was only 13%
and this was a persuasive rate when analysing the interval validity. Lastly, the outcome measures
were clearly mentioned in the section of the Patients and Methods. Especially, the validity and
procedures of primary measure, which was Western Ontario and McMaster Universities
Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC), were systemically described. The results of among four groups are
also statistically compared. Therefore, this study seems to offer moderate to strong validity of

My First Reading Reflection By Carson F. Dye
Our first reading reflection was based on books that have put leadership into practice. In other
words we read how the protagonist in the story has applied leaderships skills into their own career
path. Checklist Manifest: How To Get Things Right and Mountains Beyond Mountains were both
great read for me. Now we have switched gears to the book called Leadershipin Healthcare: Essential
Values and Skills this has focused on describing various additives that make up a great leader. We
will discuss and explore some of the terms and suggestions written here by Carson F. Dye on makes
a great leader.
To me leader is someone who shows passion for the work he does and is eager to share it with the
team, so as a whole the company or institution can move to a more efficient and productive
environment. Essentially, every leader should have one thing in which is to enhance the current
situation in the workplace whatever it may be, and by no means to be selfish. It all comes down
to being transparent in your organization and gaining loyalty from the colleagues. A leader is only
as effective as the support that his followers grant him. Gaining that support is not possible if the
leader does not earn others trust and loyalty (Dye, C., 2010, p.56). Carson F. Dye could have not
written better regarding how team dynamics work at the workplace. Not having trust in you leader
leads to suspicion, and even worse, a control freak of the duties that are delegated because if you

Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists
To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and many artists. It
was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that
bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the
serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely one
large reason as to the creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying
movement it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at conveying
its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so successful
by successfully using ethosand pathosto make hard hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also
used small amounts of logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way
the writer creates a persona that allows the audienceto see them as trustworthy, relatable,
knowledgeable, and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their
point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to this day . He
shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he has personal experience
with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain when he was bullied and how simple name calling
left lasting effects on him personally. This not only lets the viewer see that he has a reliable
viewpoint, it shows that he has
