Boston Tea Party Dbq
The distinctions between Virginians, Pennsylvanians, New Yorkers, and New Englanders are no
more. I Am Not A Virginian, But An American! (Patrick Henry in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party.)
American colonists gave everything for independence. While independence did not come
immediately, many events triggered the Revolutionary war and eventual forming of the Nation we
call home. Colonists banded together through oppression and tyranny caused by the British. Prior to
the Boston Tea Party, the colonists quietly adhered to Britain s rules and taxations. Over time, angst
and anger built up which erupted into the iconic Boston Tea Party. Men came together as brothers in
the light of independence and nationalism for their country. The Boston Tea... Show more content on

Initially the battle of Lexington took place quickly followed by the battle of Concord. These two
events helped to build up a strong patriotism in the colonies. America had some steep casualty
figures. Approximately 4,400 people were killed and over 6,000 were wounded. At this time the
entire population gathered in census data was approximately 4 million people. The number of people
is small compared to the giant British Empire. The patriotism and nationalism was important because
Britain started to see America as strong, no matter how small in numbers and

Analysis Of Two Kinds By Amy Tan
The definition of an underachiever as stated by Webster is one (such as a student) that fails to attain
a predicted level of achievement or does not do as well as expected. In the short story Two Kinds
written by Amy Tan, Ni Kan is the queen of underachievers. She determines at a young age to
become defiant to her mom. After experiencing disappointment from letting her mom down, Ni Kan
determined that she would not become a child prodigy and intentionally failed throughout her life.

What makes a child determine at such a young age to defy her mom on every hand for the rest of
their life? The sad realization that Ni Kan would rather see her mother angry at her than disappointed
in her became her revelation.

And then I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Just like you, she said. Not the best. Because you not trying. (2)

Mom tries to point out to her daughter that she knows that she s not making any effort to be her
best. She tried to use reverse psychology on her child but it didn t work. The only thing that it did
was make Ni Kan more determined not to succeed in becoming a child prodigy.

Three days after watching the television show. Ni Kan s mom informs her that she has been
scheduled for piano lessons. She throws a fit!

I m not a genius! I can t play the piano. And even if I could, I wouldn t go on TV if you paid me a
million dollars! My mother slapped me. Who ask you to be genius? she shouted. Only ask you be
your best. For you sake. You think I want you to be genius? Hnnh! Wat for! Who ask you!? So
ungrateful, I heard her mutter in Chinese, If she had as much talent as she has temper, she d be
famous now. (2 3)

If Ni kan used her temper for talent, she would ve become famous. Ni kan is fighting her mom
while mom just wants her daughter to put forth her best effort. Ni kan can t see this because she no
longer wants to try to do anything for her mom. Not realizing that her mom is only trying to bring
out who she already is. Ni Kan s rebellion to her mom caused her to not live out her full potential as
a child and throughout her adult life.

The Gospels as Myths that Convey Moral Truths Rather than Record of Fact

Statement Three The Gospels should be regarded as myths that convey moral truths rather then
record of fact.

Question Explain and assess this claim with reference to the different approaches to the New
Testament and evaluate the consequences for Christians of holding such a position.

Several of reasons have to be looked to see why was the Gospels written and what effect has it got on
the Christian communities. When I have answered this question I can only then know whether the
Gospels should be regarded as myths that convey truths then records of fact and what the outcomes
has on Christians.

4. Liturgical and Cultic Activities This is a detail description as to how rituals should be performed
for example Jesus Baptism is narrated.

The main purpose of the Gospels, which was recorded, was to preserve the words and the acts of
Jesus. Overall they were no abundant account of this, they were used to guide the Christians
community and to preach to other societies and the other illustrations used of Jesus work were
adapted to suit the needs of the preacher.

The main way the Gospels was summarised is in one phrase sitz im leben . It is translated to as
situation in life. It was also written according to the climate the preacher s lived in.

The Bible has been criticised over several of centuries. But it is not the word criticism which is used
in everyday English. The word criticism here means to make a careful analysis leading to an
informal judgement. Source, Textual and Form these are the criticism. These need to be approached.

Source criticism. This was used in the first five Hebrew Scriptures in the 18th century and then
was applied to the Gospels. The acts of Jesus were passed on by the word of mouth and some was
written down. The authors of the New Testament used a variety of
Quester In Mulan
The five aspects of QUEST are (a) a quester, (b) a place to go, (c) a stated reason to go there, (d)
challenges and trials en route, and (e) a real reason to go there. I m going to apply the five
aspects of the QUEST to the movie Mulan. (a) Quester: The quester in the movie is the main
character of the movie, Mulan. (b) A Place to Go: The place she needed to go was to the army. (c)
A Stated Reason: She wanted to go fight in place for her father. (d) Challenges: She had to dress
and act like a man in order not to blow her cover; her cover ended up being blown when she got
injured and the army no longer respected her and saw her as a soldier because she was a woman;
and she ended up having to fight the main villain of the story, Shang. (e) Real Reason to Go: Mulan

Calorimetry Of Brass Lab Report
Background Brass is considered an alloy, or a mix of multiple metals. Brass is usually made of
copper and zinc, but there could be some other metals creating 300+ known brass alloys. The
amount of copper in brass will affect basic characteristics of brass like color, strength, conductivity,
etc. To find the amount of copperin brass one can use visible spectroscopy. Spectroscopy is the
study of electromagnetic radiation. It originated as a study of visible light, and wavelength through
a prism. Spectroscopy can show how much copper is in a brass solution by showing how much
visible light is passing through a copper solution
Procedure
1)Weigh two brass shots, about 1 gram each, and verify mass, then transfer into beaker

White Males And The American Writers
In this nature writing course and in all my literature courses there haven t been many African
American writers represented. This isn t because they don t exist, but because the more commonly
known writers have the attributes of being more respected, and are widely accepted writers in
American literature, who majority of the time are white males like Thoreau and Leopold. These are
just examples, and they are good writers but there are also good African Americanwriters that
deserve just as much representation when teaching college courses. There s a greater choice of
writers besides having the same works of authors we ve already read throughout our experience in
studying literature. There needs to be a better variety of cultures represented in literature, white
males shouldn t always be the most read and studied authors in public institutions. Minorities should
be represented too, especially African American writers since they played such a great role in the
American history, and endured so much oppression from the society they ve lived in. In this course,
Nature Writing at metropolitan University, we had a variety of different races, but the Black race
didn t get the representation they deserved. There was a writing titled, from a black boy by
Wright, and it wasn t a good representation of Black writers in America. I remember reading it and
questioning what I just read; because it didn t have any emotion or deeper meaning like most the
other readings we studied. In

Billionaires: We are all the same

Billionaires: We are all the same The number of billionaires has risen to a record 1,645
billionaires with an aggregate net worth of $6.4 trillion according to Forbes Magazine ( Forbes
Billionaires ). The year the United States is back at the top with Bill Gates as the richest man in
the world, worth about $76 billion ( Forbes Billionaires ). It seems that even though the amount of
billionaires has increased, there are people who still live in poverty. As reported by Forbes (2014),
America s wealth is shrinking because of falling home prices. Rises in home prices help the middle
class; while the rise in stock prices help the rich. Wealth inequality has a negative and significant

Gates also mentioned that these innovations will help with improving the world and jumpstart the
economy. Bill Gates and Melinda Gates started to help the less fortunate and discovered that kids
were dying every year over a treatable virus. Rotavirus was killing 600,000 children per year.
They decided to pledge $750 million to help with the cost of a vaccine that would save thousands
of children (Gates, 2009). These days middle class households are less likely to own homes. The
gap between rich and poor has widened with the poor also helping each other (Forbes,2013) The
wealthy owns most of the stock. Only 9.5% of middle class families own stock. Middle class
income households depend on the rich household on the value of their homes (Forbes, 2013).
With rising home prices, people tend to feel more financially secure and more willing to spend.
On the other hand, there are also Billionaires that are for the people, such as Mark
Zuckerberg(founder of Facebook) and his wife Priscilla Chan. They have given 25 million to the
CDC to fight Ebola and gave $120 million to the Bay area schools. Mark Zuckerberg has been
extremely generous and plans to donate at least half of his worth of $29.7 billion. Zuckerberg is

as advancing my service learning by requiring me to complete service hours. I believe that I
would make a good member of NJHS because I have shown leadership, character, citizenship, and
service in school and in my community. I have shown leadership many times while working in a
group project or in an activity. I assign parts of the project to others and myself and share my ideas
in the group. I try my very best to include everyone and try to incorporate their brilliant ideas in the
project or activity as well. I make sure that everyone has a contribution... Show more content on

Uma Leadership Definition
Question 1: How do you define leadership?
I think leadership is a concept of getting to the top and staying at the top. The best leaders are
people whose personality is suited well to guide. Leadership shapes a person into a better person
in the long run. Even after you re done being a leader, the lessons you learn from it carry with
you. And once you become a leader it s not, snap your fingers, you re done, that s it. It s how you
can improve from their as well.

Question 2: Do you consider yourself successful in leadership? Why or why not?

I am only eighteen, so I don t think I ve really achieved anything majorly successful in leading. But I
have had leadership opportunities, like section leader before, and think I am successful in these ...

The Creepy Old Lady By William Faulkner
The Creepy Old lady
The old woman across the street is sleeping with her dead boyfriend. In the story A Rose for
Emily, the author, William Faulkner, enlightens his readers about an old, burden of a woman
named Emily. He goes back into time and list events in her life that led up to the shocking
conclusion when the reader finds out she has been sleeping with her dead sweetheart. This main
ending leaves all readers in shock and their stomachs a little weak. In my instance the story built up
my curiosity with pieces to a puzzle that I tried to solve, and I was able to put them together at the
end to visualize the shocking conclusion.
My initial curios reaction to the short story A rose for Emily began right off the back when Faulkner
states when Miss Emily Grierson died (121). This was Faulkner s way of introducing the reader
to the main character Emily. This would leave any reader questioning who exactly is this Emily
girl, and how did she die. I realize Emily is the main character not too shortly after and expected to
learn more about her in the story. Another episode in the story that sparked my initial curious
reaction is when Faulkner explains to the reader that the townspeople thought of Emily as a
tradition, a duty, and a care; a sort of hereditary obligation upon the town (121) The four descriptive
words tradition, duty, care, and obligation, all triggered me to wonder why she was such a hassle to
the townspeople. This is what Faulkner wanted the reader to pick
Stockman Moral Relativism
What are the implications of Dr. Stockman s actions for the issue of moral relativism?
Moral relativism is the belief that moral principles depends on cultural acceptance, or a subjective
point of view. We get to see how subjective it can be reading Henrik Ibsen s play, The Enemy of the
People (Pojman 166). The play is about a doctor (Stockman) in a Norwegian town, who learns that
the water used in the towns baths is contaminated. Dr. Stockman feels morally obligated to inform
people of his findings. His brother Peter, is the town s mayor. Peter does not think the people need
to know about the water and warns his brother to keep silent. Dr. Stockman rejects his brother s
warnings. Doing so, results in the doctor becoming an outcast. I can imagine the dilemma that the
doctor faced. He is aware of the revenue that the baths generate for his hometown. Yet, he is also
ethically responsible as a doctor to notify citizen about the harm that the baths will cause. I was
surprised at the people s response to the doctor. He tells them the truth, but they reject it. Their
actions highlight some issues of moral relativism.
The two brothers are examples of how personal opinions and self interest determine our moral
outlook. Stockman is looking at his moral obligation from a doctor point of view. He is concerned
with public health. Peter is looking from a mayor point of view. He is concerned about the towns
economy and his reputation. The brothers meet to discuss the problem. Peter
