Storytelling Is Becoming The In Thing By Janice Person...
LUBBOCK, TEXAS A communications expert shared her perspective on storytelling at Texas Tech
on Friday Sept. 23. Janice Person, the director of online engagement from Monsanto, provided
words of advice from her own experiences on how to help those who are unfamiliar with agriculture
and farming practices understand it. The Memphis, Tennessee native said although she is a city girl
born and raised, she has a true passion for agriculture. Person tells her own stories in a way that
engages and inspires the consumer and audience. Person said storytelling is becoming the in thing ,
whether or not the story has ties to agriculture. If you can make somebody say, wow and really
connect with them, then you get... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It gets people to think critically about what they may have heard, what they may not know and all
those things. That s what storytelling can do. Person said, following a personal account of trees her
family owned during her childhood. Person said that anything can be made to feel firsthand or
experiential if the information you want to share is crafted into a story, the importance of the story
can be conveyed to the audience. Person said to consider topics worth sharing before telling a story.
Topics of interest may include safety, sustainability, nutrition or collaboration with others in your
field of practice. If we can t engage them in the same kind of values that made them make the
choices they are making already, we re not going to win their hearts and minds at all, Person said,
taking a deep breath and clasping her hands.
When conveying a story with someone with an opposing viewpoint, Person said to break through
and share the factual information they are not aware of as means of
Biography of Giuseppe Garibaldi Essay
Giuseppe Garibaldi never lacked admirers. In my eyes he is one of the best world leaders because he
was a great man and unified many places like Italy. For a period of time he was the most widely
known person in the world, as an Italian revolutionary Garibaldi became a worldwide celebrity even
before he succeeded in uniting Italy. He was an Italian general and politician who played a large role
during the creation of Italy as the country we now know it to be. He helped free Italy from foreign
rule. Garibaldi is best known for his military leadership in the unification of Italy (Giuseppe
Garibaldi). Garibaldi was born on July 4 of 1807 in Nice, France. He is the son of Domenico
Garibaldi, a fishermen and coastal trader. His full name was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Passing into the service of Uruguay, he was sent to Corrientes with a small flotilla to oppose
Rosa s forces, but was defeated by Admiral Brown. he couldn t fight no more and had ran out of
supplies. So then he retreated burned his ships and escaped (Giuseppe Garibaldi NNDB).
Returning to Montevideo, he formed the Italian legion. In the next year, still in Uruguay,
Garibaldi took leadership of a newly formed Italian legion at Montevideo, the first of the Red
shirts, with whom his name became so closely associated. After he won the small but heroic
engagement at the battle of St. Antonio in 1846, his fame reached all the way to Europe, and in
Italy a sword of honor was proudly given to him (Denis Mack Smith 1). Now Giuseppe Garibaldi
was in charge of the battle of Montevideo in 1847, but only for a short time. He later came to the
attention of Alexandre Dumas Pere. Garibaldi also greatly impressed other foreign observers as
an honest and capable man. When he was in South Africa, he did not get any skills off the tactic
of warfare called guerrilla warfare. Which he later used as his tactic to defeat French and Austrian
armies. These first achievements in the cause of freedom cast him into the person he was, an
individualist who all his life continued to act as if life were a unending battle for freedom (Denis
Mack Smith 1). He prepared to return to Italy upon receiving news of the incipient revolutionary
movement. In
A Brief Look at Climate Change
The global climate system is complex and its response to future anthropogenic greenhouse gases and
to climate change adaptation, is often poorly understood. Climate change is an area where modeling
in the framework of complex adaptive systems can improve our knowledge both with respect to the
internal structure and adaptive mechanisms of climateand our capacity for designing efficient climate
adaptation policies. Modeling of these systems includes a dynamic system consisting of transition
equations describing the evolution of state variables characterizing the natural system, such as CO2
concentrations in the upper and lower atmosphere and in the oceans, and state variables
characterizing the economic systems, such as physical capital and knowledge. The complex adaptive
character of the system implies that the dynamic system will be nonlinear and nonconvex, will allow
for nonlinear feedbacks and multiple basins of attraction, will evolve both in the temporal and spatial
dimension, and will be influenced by forward looking optimizing economic agents (Xepapadeas,
2010). Moreover, any rational policy choice must consider the uncertainty about the magnitude and
timing of climate changes impact on economic productivity (Cai et al., 2013).
The majority of the literature, including the recent U.S. Government Interagency Working Group on
the Social Cost of Carbon (IWG, 2013) does not model the stochastic nature of the climate and
economic systems. Recent work, such as that of Cai
The Melian Dialogue Analysis
The Melian Dialogue has maintained significance for millennia because of its clarity, its honesty, and
its continued relevance, up to the modern day. When the Athenians did away with specious pretences
(Betts, 2017), they opened up a number of salient issues that have troubled decision makers from
time immemorial. Among these timeless questions, the Melian situation hinges on one: whether the
Lacedaemonians would come to their aid. In the general form, the Athenians phrase it as
expediency goes with security, while justice and honour cannot be followed without danger (Betts).
For contemporary purposes: a rational, international actor will not risk their own state security for
an ally s without a controlling, practical interest. As a corollary, the Athenians add that what an
intending ally trusts to, is not the goodwill of those who ask his aid, but a dedicated superiority of
power for action (Betts). In language less burdened by 2,500 years of translation: the ideological or
moral justifications for an alliance are superseded by the ability for the intervening partner to win the
conflict. This paper will examine relevant, contemporary theories and case studies to determine if the
Athenians warnings still hold true do allies only intervene in the interests of their own security? Or
can other factors (e.g. shared identities, common ideologies) overcome an actor s international
inertia? Before applying Thucydidesquestions to modern statecraft, it s necessary
Domestic Terrorism Vs International Terrorism
Excelsior College
Domestic Terrorism
Mr. Prybutok
Jerek Columna

How do you define domestic terrorism? In what ways is it functionally different from international
terrorism? Distinguish between domestic terrorism from above and domestic terrorism from below.
Give examples.

As Enders, Sandler, and Gaibulloev (2011) argue, to be classified as a domestic terrorist, one must
be from the same country as the attacks occur and if the terrorist resides in the country. This type of
terrorism has grave consequences for the host country, it effects its institutions, policies, people, and
property and in most cases, there is no overseas sponsorship or involvement. (Enders et al, 2011).
For instance, the bombing of the Building in Oklahoma ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In particular, the December 2012 killing of 20 schoolchildren in Newtown and the killing of 9
people at a church in Charleston, South Carolina fueled a national discussion during the Obama
administration to limit the availability of certain styles of military weapons. The enactment of the
anti gun law poses dire threats to the existence and operationalization of the right wing extremist
groups because the law forbids them from owning several military type arms that can cause harm to
the public. Existing research pointed out that since the passing of the legislation, the number of
suicide and homicide cases in U.S. dropped by 10% (Borgeson Valeri, 2009). Nonetheless, majority
of the rightwing extremist groups perceive the legislation on gun control as a solemn threat to their
right to bear weapons and in response, they have increased stockpiling of firearms and ammunition,
as well as renewed their participation in paramilitary training exercises. As Johnson (2012) points
out, such trainings, combined with a high level of extremist paranoia have the capacity to facilitate
criminal activity and
Sustainability in Mauritius
Sustainable Mauritius Brundtland report (1987) has defined the term sustainable development as the
development that meets the needs for the present without compromising the ability of the future
generations to meet their own needs Sustainable development and planning is structured essentially
around 3 elements: economic growth, social development and environmental protection. While
development is associated with social development, it is also associated with environmental disasters
if the development is not well planned. In 1992, following the international conference in Rio de
Janeiro, a number of guiding principles were established on action that countries could take to
achieve sustainable development (Agenda,21) Based on these guiding... Show more content on

The Cask Of Amontillado And The Birth-Mark
Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne focus on concepts that relate to the darker side of the
human experience by creating characters that embody the relationship between evil and abnormal
psychology. The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe and The Birth Mark by Nathaniel
Hawthorne feature characters that engage in an abnormal or unusual behavior and suffer from a
flawed, obsessive psyche that causes them to commit evil or immoral acts. Montresor and Aylmer,
the two main characters of each short story, both exhibit obsessive compulsive behavior with one
character fixated on revenge and vengeance and the other attempting to transcend the limits of
human capabilities by altering nature to achieve perfection. Poe and Hawthorne are suggesting...

Montresor s obsession was rooted in wrath and vengeance against a man who supposedly had
done him wrong. In fact, the very first line of the story discusses his plan for revenge, which
implies just how severe his obsession was. Poe writes, The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had
borne as I best could; but when he ventured upon insult I vowed revenge (116). This insinuates that
Montresor has been dealing with this repetitive thoughts and obsessive behaviors for an extended
period of time and that at this point, they are interfering with his ability to live normally. Poe
continues with Montresor saying, It is equally unredressed when the avenger fails to make himself
felt as such to him who has done the wrong (116). This haunting line also implies that Montresor is
completely consumed with this idea of revenge that he feels as though he has no other choice but to
seek retaliation. This plays into the larger idea of the relationship between evil and abnormal
psychology in a variety of ways. This indicates that Montresor was motivated by haunting, anxiety
fueled obsessive thoughts to commit the murder of Fortunato because of his distorted perception of
reality. Another example of this obsession can be seen when Montresor is discussing his intricate,
pre mediated plan for his murder. He had thought about every possible detail of his master plan, from
A Brief Biography of Lord Byron Essay
Lord Byron Biography
Since the dawn of humanity, many individuals significantly impacted the world. These scholarly
impacts pertain to categories such as science, mathematics, literature, politics, music, and athletics.
However, of all things, literature has the most powerful influence on the global society. The
achievements of literature are known to strike deeper into the hearts of people than any other
intellectual creation of man. In fact, many of the most compelling works of literature come from
George Gordon Byron (The sixth Lord Byron) , who is considered one of the most instrumental

George Gordon Byron was born on January 22, 1788 ( Lord Byron Biography ). He suffered from
burdensome birth defects, including a clubbed right foot and an injured Achilles tendon. Forced
to walk on the balls of his feet, Byron was challenged in his movements for the entire duration of
his life (Minser). His physical limitations ultimately shaped his determined character. Byron was
conceived from the conjoinment two aristocratic families. His father, Captain John Mad Jack
Byron was a descendent of William the Conqueror. George Byron s mother, Catherine Gordon of
Gright , was a short tempered and bluntly spoken heiress who enjoyed boasting about her direct

Gordon did not get along due to conflicting views on personal finance. John favored accumulating
a good number of debts to appear upper class, as opposed to Catherine, who preferred to spend

his wife and young George to escape creditors and perished in 1791 (Valenciennes, France), when
his son was merely three years of age (Minser). Subsequently to the fact that John had wasted away

Sophomore Moment
Decisive Moment I have always been an above average student, receiving A s and B s on my
report card. However, sophomore year hit me like a bolt of lightning. I failed two semesters of AP
Calculus AB class. In order to bounce back from this fiasco, I retook the class to prove to myself
that I could have done better. Through hard work, late nights, and dedication, I was able to pass
Calculusthe second time. If only I tried harder, I could have passed on the first try. My teacher that
year was known as one of the hardest math teachers on campus. Having him as my teacher, I
began to lose self confidence and worried about not passing the rigorous class. Thus, I ended
sophomore year with a 3.0 GPA. Never have I received both a C and an F on my report card. The
3.0 GPA felt like a game over stage for me because I believed having a good educational
background was essential for the field of study I wanted to learn. Balancing schoolwork and
basketball did not work out for me. Coming home from basketball practice and games, my
concentration in studying slowly diminished. As the point guard, I had many responsibilities as the
team leader. Consequently, my mindset and goals for sophomore year were set on different things,
rather than school. This behavior soon led to my failing of both semesters of... Show more content on

If one procrastinates, nothing will get done. For me, I had to get rid of all distractions in order to
focus. By doing my homework diligently, I redeemed myself and finished the course with two B
grades, instead of two F grades. Mr. Kim believed in me and knew that I had the desire to reach
my goal. Hard work really does pay off in the end, just like the saying. Going from a 3.0 GPA
sophomore year to a 4.0 GPA junior year, I could not have been more proud of my
accomplishments. Without Mr. Kim s instructions, I would have taken the wrong turns in life if I did

a foundation for the preservation of turkey hunting. Their success is found in the many members,

Since the beginning where the founders laid the foundation for the years to come, North Americahas
