Beautiful Boy Summary Sparknotes
Beautiful Boy is a memoir told through the eyes of a father, David Sheff, whose son, Nic,
struggles with a serious drug addiction throughout his late teens and early twenties. As Nic was
growing up he was clearly a very intelligent child. He won prizes for his writing at school and was
involved in sports. Nic was destined for great things ahead of him until he started smoking pot at
the age of eleven. His father let him off with more or less of a warning because as a teen Sheff
himself has experimented with it as well. His father begins to notice that it may be a bigger
problem than he thought when Nic starts slacking in school. Skipping class, dropping grades,
things that were out of character for Nic. When he was seventeen his father became aware that he
was abusing alcohol as well as much more harmful drugs such as meth. Sheff, his late wife, Karen,
and Nic s mother, Vicki, put everything on the line to get Nic into various facilities throughout the
course of several years. Sheff and the rest of Nics familybegin to find it increasingly difficult to deal
with Nics addiction. David Sheff informs people the hardships of being the parent of an addict who
struggles to get his life back on track. He explains that not only is it a financial battle but an
emotional battle as well.
David Sheff s purpose is to illustrate what it is like to live the life of a parent who is not only taking
care of is addicted son but who has to learn to take care of himself and the rest of his
The Song Ten Minutes Ago, Is From Rodgers And Hammerstein...
The song Ten Minutes Ago is from Rodgers and Hammerstein s Cinderella. A musical adaption of
the classic fairytale by the same name, it became a musical sensation when Richard Rodgers and
Oscar Hammerstein transformed it into a live musical television broadcast in 1957. Starring Julie
Andrews, it retold the fairytale of a young girl living a miserable life under the roof of her evil
stepmother and her three equally vicious stepsisters. With the Prince s Ball nearing, the four
women in her family were planning to go, leaving Cinderella at home on the night of the ball.
When all hope seemed lost, Cinderella s Fairy Godmother appears, granting her wishes by
transforming her from rags to riches, and giving her a pair of glass slippers. Cinderella was able
to go to the ball unrecognized, under the condition to be home by midnight, when the spell wore
off. At the ball, she meets the prince and there is immediately chemistry, but she rushes to leave
before the clock strikes twelve, in fear of the prince seeing her for who she really was and being
disgusted by her true self. As she escapes the castle, she loses one of her glass shoes on the steps
of the castle. Leaving it behind, she makes it home without being seen by anyone, and resumes her
life as a poor girl being abused by her family. The next day, the prince announces a search for
Cinderella, not knowing her name or remembering her face. He went around town and asked women
to try on the glass shoe, believing that he would
Heinz Spicy Ketchup
Heinz, the most recognizable condiment brand in the world is back at it again, and this time they
are spicing it up. This famous company wishes to tempt all consumers into wanting a ketchup that
not only moistures what ever food it is placed on, but also spices it up and adds extra flavors to all
foods. In order to sell the product, they adopt a humorous tone to make the consumer remember the
product, crave the product, and the consumer will then logically make the choice of Heinz to satisfy
their spicy tomato ketchup needs. Heinz supports that their spicy ketchup should be bought by first
reminding the public of the company s credibility, then humoring them, and finally using simple
logic to prove that their ketchup is spicy. The famous company does need to try to hard to establish
their credibility. They simply need to remind us how long they have been offering savory tomato
sauce, and the consumer knows, IT HAS TO BE HEINZ. According to a survey conducted in 2014,
the most used ketchup brand in the United States by approximately 28.51%. (Statista) The image
does not need to do more than mention the brand that created this spicy ketchup, and the image
appeals to the consumers ethics. The advertisement then continues to entice the consumers by
humoring them, literally. This notice implies the fact that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But all that is missing was the spicy tomato sauce. The digital image appeals to the logical side of
the consumers, the ones who want to moisturize their bread, and chicken tenders, and whatnot. The
ad is selling ketchup which will add extra flavor to anything it is one. The logical people would see
that fiery chili ketchup would not only the famous tomato taste that most ketchups add, but also
make it spicy, increasing the taste of whatever the ketchup is

Social Commentary in Hollywood War Films
Hollywood film is a powerful twentieth century art form that has provided entertainment and social
commentary since its creation. Film can be used to portray history on the silver screen. Directors
can use their films to portray social commentary about current issues. A popular social issue
throughout history is war. Directors can use their war films to promote pro war or anti war
movements. Films have the ability to influence the public and provoke thought amongst them about
any social issue. The power of film has the ability to present the audience with history while
providing social commentary.
Nearly one third of Hollywood movies touch on history and one of the many historical events
being war. The Civil War was the first embraced war by Hollywood. It was the first war
photographed therefore, Hollywood knew what people and events looked like. At the time Civil
War movies were produced by Hollywood there were still living relatives of those who were in the
Civil War. There were not as many World War Ifilms as other wars. These films were used to jazz
up the public for World War II like Sergeant York or as an anti war film like Paths of Glory. World
War II films on the other hand were Hollywood s most filmed war. These films were mostly
patriotic, as America was fighting for its future, with some slightly cynical. Hollywood saw a
shifting tone with the Korean War
Business Torts Ethics And Ethics
Business Torts Ethics Business Torts Ethics As a business owner or manager, one must always be
aware of potential risks and liabilities, and perform necessary actions to limit or remove those
liabilities in their entirety. These foreseeable risks are situations which can subject the owner to
different types of torts. Furthermore, beyond just reducing the possible financial and criminal
liability, owners have an ethical responsibility to provide an environment free of the risk of damages

282) and include injuries that are substantially likely to result from the behavior or action. Included
in the categories of intentional tort are assault and battery, trespass, intentional infliction of mental
distress, and invasion of privacy (Reed et al., 2016). Assault and battery includes the threat of
harm, a present ability to carry out the threat, and a harmful or offensive touching of another
(Farlex, Inc, 2016). The intruder threatened Sharon and Darryl, was able to carry out the threat at
that moment and followed through by physically harming each of them. Trespass involves entering
someone s land without their permission (Reed et al., 2016). The intruder forced his way into
Sharon s apartment without her consent. Intentional infliction of mental distress is defined by
Reed et al. (2016) as a battery to the emotions (p. 284) and usually must be accompanied by
physical manifestations. The intruder inflicted distress upon Sharon as evidenced by her screams,
and she was physically harmed in the process. Invasion of privacy occurs when one intrudes upon
another s solitude, such as an illegal invasion of one s home (Reed et al., 2016). It is clear in this
example that the intruder illegally invaded Sharon s home. Based on these definitions, the intruder s
act of not only entering the property by force, but further inflicting injury upon Sharon and Darryl
makes him liable for
Justice Is The Legal Or Philosophical Theory Of Justice
Justice is the art which gives to each man what is good for his soul. Discuss.

Justice is the art which gives to each man what is good for his soul and that is simply to say that
justice is identical with, or inseparable with philosophy. (Cahn, Political Philosophy, 1 136) Justice
is an order and duty of the parts of the soul; it is to the soul as medicine preserves the health of the
body. In its current and cardinal definition is a just behavior or treatment; a concern for justice, peace,
and genuine respect for people. (Oxford Dictionary, Justice ) Justice is the legal or philosophical
theory by which fairness is administered. However, justice is polymorphic; depending on eras and
civilizations also differing in every culture. Although there some principles of justice that can be
found to be almost universal. An early theory of justice was set out by the Ancient Greek philosopher
Plato in his work The Republic. Plato was highly dissatisfied with the prevailing degenerating
conditions in Athens. The Athenian democracy was on the verge of ruin and was ultimately
responsible for Socrates death his mentor. Plato saw in justice the only remedy of saving Athens
from decay and ruin. Evidently, factors such as amateurishness, political selfishness and excessive
individualism became main targets of Plato s attack which were rampant in the Greek world.
Agitated in contemporary affairs, the attack came in the form of the construction of an ideal society
in which justice
Little Monsters Little Angels
When I first arrived at Little Monsters Little Angels, I immediately noticed how different it was
from the McCarthy Center. It was one large open room, yet divided for toddlers and preschoolers
by walkways and cubbies. It s clear the McCarthy Center is one of the best in the valley so
comparing it to others is a bit challenging because the McCarthy Center is so spot on. Although
Little Monsters Little Angels lacked in a few areas where the McCarthy Center didn t, there is still a
great preschool for children to attend.
There were some things in the classroom that both places had either more or less of. The
classrooms at Little Monsters Little Angels had a few more tables than the dragonfly room at the
McCarthy Center and the McCarthy Center had places for high and low mobility both indoors and
outdoors. At the McCarthy Center, for one room there was one large bathroom and at Little
Monsters Little Angels, there were two rooms with two smaller bathrooms for each. Also at Little
Monsters Little Angels, they didn t have as many adults as the other center did. There were two
adults with thirteen children, so they weren t as prepared for the children as the McCarthy Center
was.

A social dramatic zone was not outdoors. Feeney, Moravcik, Nolte (2013) say, Play is richer when
there are playhouses, dress up clothes and props, and loose parts like hollow boxes, sheets, small
tires, planks and other movable pieces that children can arrange (p.271). None of these items
were encouraged outside, yet there were some items relating to social dramatic zones inside like
the show and tell area. Also inside, there was a television which should be removed because it
was in a room for all ages to be in and it is better to not have one at all since there were already two
computers for the children to access on their own. The McCarthy center had social dramatic zones
outside and had no televisions in the

Jane Addams, An Advocate Of Immigrants, The Poor, Women,...
Explain who created the source and why.
Jane Addams was an upper class woman who thought it was her job to help others. Addams was an
advocate of immigrants, the poor, women, and peace. In 1889, she created the hull house. The Hull
house was created to help female immigrants become assimilated to the American life style by
helping get them a job, learn the language, and receive an education. So it was no surprise that in in
1915, Jane Addams wrote the life changing article Why Women Should Vote .
Discuss whether or not the writer was a neutral party. If not, explain the opinions or interests that
might have influenced what was written
During the 1900 s women were under the idea of the cult of domesticity. This means that the
women s place was in the home. They had jobs such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for the
children. In the article Why Women should Vote , it is clear to see that Addams is biased and
believes that women deserve the right to vote. However, unlike other persuasive article Addams
article is different, she believes women should be able to vote but she doesn t bash the male
population. She writes an article where she says not only why women should get the vote or why
women should have the vote, but rather she talks about why women should vote and why it is the
responsibility of women to vote. Many women around the country felt oppressed. Different groups,
started to form as they fought for women s rights. Groups such as National American Women
Triumph Of The Will
The film, Triumph of the Will, is a historical representation of Hitler s era, as it shows scenes of
him giving speeches out to different crowds and their response. Adolf Hitler was a volunteer in
World War I, where he got the idea that Germany s civilization was in a decline. He then decided to
enter politics in order to make a change to the unfair Treaty of Versailles and expand Germanys
territory. After President von Hindenburg died in August 1934, Hitler combined the titles of
chancellor and leader, taking full control of the German state. Hitler took advantage of the
vulnerable and weak state that Germany was in, to take control and win popularity among the
people with his strong, imposing, and straight forward speeches. Through his actions he made it
clear that he was completely against the agreements made in the Treaty of Versailles. He defied the
Treaty by increasing the army and rebuilding their air force. Another action taken against the Treaty
was Hitler ordering German troops to move into the area of Rhineland, despite the Treaty stating that
the area needed to be a demilitarized zone. By keeping his word, Hitler gained more support from
the crowd, which is shown throughout the film.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film presented numerous speeches by people of the Nazi party and Hitler. Hitler s speeches
depicted the idea of unity, which he directed to different groups of people from men of the army to
the youth. To the youth he states that they are the future of the nation, therefore they should not let
class divisions come between them, rather they must come together under solidarity. Hitler states
that the people must unite in order to regain the greatness and strength of the nation, that was lost
