The Relations Between Art And Life Is Explored Throughout
The relations between art and life is explored throughout Martin McDonagh s play, The Pillowman
and Muriel Spark s Loitering With Intent. They explore these relations through discussing the
stylistic features of their characters and how these characters are perceived in real life. Both authors
explore how the preconceived ideas of what a charactershould be is dismantled and the line which
distinguishes between art and life is becoming less clear. Another way in which these authors
explore the link between art and life is through the act of storytelling. This suggests that life is a
form of art. Both texts deal with the argument of whether it is life that influences art or art that
influences life. Some literary critics such as Henry James... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This reveals two contrasting views of what a character is: one who becomes emotionally attached to
a fictional character and assigns human traits to them in order to make them more relatable and the
other, who believes that you cannot become attached to these characters as they are not real people.
It could be argued that readers have become accustomed to fiction having a hero and a villain which
is not only addressed when dealing with Warrender Chase but also with Loitering With Intent as
despite some may taking more of a liking to Fleur rather than Sir Quentin. However, Fleur does use
some of the same tactics as Sir Quentin when trying to get her novel back. From this, it is clear that
writers were attempting to come away from this idea of there being a hero and a villain. This
notion of preconceiving characters before we read a text is addressed by Germaine Bree, and
Margaret Guiton in their text An Age of Fiction: The French Novel From Gide to Camus. They
argue that: The novel hero, previously imprisoned in the closed, mechanistic world of determinist
theory, he becomes a free agent, capable of shaping his own life and choosing his own destiny.
This shows that authors of the twentieth century were attempting to dismantle these preconceptions
that readers had of their characters before they had even read the text. The preconceiving of
characters is a way in which readers blur the line which distinguishes between fiction and reality as
they attach human
Roy Williams Cheating
Cheating, you may do it, you probably have done it somewhere in your life, but what about the
penalties you may suffer for being caught? People cheat in many things: school, sports, and, but not
limited to, relationships. But there is many ways to cheat in those multiple examples, like in sports
you can cheat with: drugs, academic eligibility, or even through recruiting. The topic of this paper is
college basketball and cheating. What makes college basketball coachesbreak the rules, is it worth
the penalty you might ultimately face?
Roy Williams has had an unproven history of not obeying the academic rules, but he was actually
caught in 2004. One of his players, Rashad McCants, recently came out and said Roy did cheat.
Rashad McCants, a North Carolina basketball player from 2002 2005 was one of the leading
scores on the 2005 National Champion UNC team, who said he participated in Roy Williams
academic scandal. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves and then ended up being
unsigned in the league by the year 2009, admitted to taking bogus classes designed to help
athletes stay academically eligible (Delsohn). Rashad McCants is the only person who came out
against Roy Williams in the academic scandal. The classes Rashad McCants referred to recently
were exposed in his interview with Steve Delsohn, a writer for ESPN. The class was a paper class,
that did not require you to show up to class at all, but rather to turn in a term paper at the end of the
semester to receive

Janet Burroway Voice Summary
In chapter three of Imaginative Writing, Voice , Janet Burroway identifies three important
concepts of voice; irony, character voice, and point of view that allows a writer to explore the
inner lives of other. First, the irony is a contradiction that emphasizes the voice of someone.
Burroway states, verbal irony, is a way of using voice. It is achieved by some sort of mismatch
between the tone and the content and is capable of myriad effects: serious, comic, threatening,
satirical, and so forth (Burroway, 52). The use of verbal irony involves speaking that convey a
message opposite of the meaning, it s often humorous and engages the audience to dig deeper
understanding. Another concept of voice that is very important in imaginative writing
An Overview of Bilingual Education Essay
Overview of Bilingual Education

Is a second language a necessity in our world today? Should parents push for their child to learn
two languages in elementary school? If we live in multicultural neighborhoods, trade with the global
marketplace, and want to use all technology resources available, it is necessary to know two
languages. Multilingual people and communities seem to have an edge over monolingual
competition. This provides people of all ages an incentive to learn a second language (Genesee,
1998). In this research paper English and Spanish will be the languages referred to for bilingual
education, although others are offered. The purpose of this paper is to compare the benefits and
pitfalls of language immersion programs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a plus. Learning the first language at the same time as learning English is having a positive effect
on both languages. At home the parents feel that they can communicate with their children, (p. 664)
says a Khmer speaking teacher in Australia (Barrot Pugh Rohl, 2001). Khmer is spoken in all
Australian homes and is practically required for children to learn. This program is not only for
increasing cognitive skills, but also for students to communicate fully in their community and within
their families. One in every four children in Australia speaks a language other than English.
Australian children are encouraged and greatly supported by the community to learn a second
language, which is why these numbers are so high. If the United States had the same motivation for
their children, it would produce many more bilingual children. All children in the Khmer English
program show parallel development in the two languages. Many kids accomplish this by using
information from one language to assist the development of the other language. Learning Khmer
gives the children a sense of identity in their home and culture (Barratt Pugh Rohl, 2001). This is a
good example of a community using all its available resources, and hopefully Americans will learn
from their enthusiasm.

Types of Bilingual Education

Bilingual education basically is, according to Rowntree (1981,) an education

Identifying Voice And Sms Api Providers For Two Factor...
A guide to evaluating voice and SMS API providers for two factor authentication solutions
Introduction
Today, users of online services are very familiar with the process of typing in a username and
password, to securely access their accounts. Passwords however, are no longer considered very
safe, as they can be easily stolen, sniffed, guessed, or obtained through methods such as phishing and
malware attacks. Even strong and complicated passwords are susceptible to theft and therefore not
the best line of defense against hackers. That s why online service providers including banks, social
media websites, e commerce portals, and email providers, among others, all understand the need to
protect the confidential data of their customers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When building a two factor authentication solution, you will need to integrate with a reliable voice
API and SMS API provider, to easily manage the sending of one time passwords using text
messages or voice calls. This whitepaper will: Provide details on how two factor authentication
works.
Highlight and explain the must have features in a robust two factor authentication solution.
Help you evaluate the right SMS and Voice API provider to partner with, by explaining the important
factors that should influence your decision.

How two factor authentication works

The two step verification process in 2FA, often uses a combination of two of the following three
identification factors: 1. The Knowledge Factor:
This is something that only the user knows. It could be a password, a PIN, or an unlock pattern that
the user must enter, before accessing an account. Using this factor of identification alone is not very
secure. 2. The Possession Factor:
This is something that the user has, such as a device that can receive or generate a unique one
time password (OTP) or randomized code that should be entered when prompted. The device
could be a mobile phone that receives an OTP via an SMS or voice call, or it could be a physical
hardware device such as a key fob that generates the code. An authenticator software could also be
installed on a device this is a specialized application that many services now support. It has
Winston Churchill Qualities
The first thoughts that come to mind when contemplating what qualities define an effective
leader may be courage, integrity, or ethics. These, and many other qualities, are qualities that
Winston Churchill possess. His impressive leadership may have started as a child after watching
his father excel at the same career he would one day have, or it could have started simply due to
Churchill s interest in writing and grammar, which blossomed into his writing career (Muller 5).
Winston s first real career in politics came only eight years before he got married to his wife,
Clementine Churchill, in October of 1900 (Winston 7). Throughout his career in politics, Churchill
would work many jobs similar to this one with dignity and strength. His ability to inspire and
grasp the attention of any audience through his use of words was breathtaking. With his inspiring
speeches, impressive books, and efficient war tactics, he effectively ran the United Kingdom as
Prime Minister for many years. Winston Churchill is an effective leader as seen through his
service as an army officer, his influential writings, and his dedication to serving the United
Kingdom as Prime Minister. After observing the mistakes made in war in World War I, Winston
Churchill reinvented the way Britain fought in wars to eventually fight for a victory for the allies in
World War II. He formed close ties with Franklin D. Roosevelt, which maintained Britain s place as
an equal partner and ally with the United
Theme Of The Absolutely True Diary Of A Part Time Indian
This book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, is about a boy
called Arnold Spirit aka Junior. He is a Native American that lives in an Indian Reservation. He
isn t really satisfied with his life, since he s pretty poor, but he gets along. He doesn t really accept
himself, since he has multiple medical problems, and he has been beaten up since he was little.
When he starts to gain more friends in this new (American) school, he starts to like and accept
himself more than before. In this book, The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian (by
Sherman Alexie), the main theme is about Arnold trying to accept himself. At first Junior didn t
like himself; he was constantly beaten up, he had a lisp and stuttered so he had no self
confidence. When he made the decision to go to Reardan, a white school, even Rowdy left him.
Rowdy thought Junior was betraying their school by going away and transferring so Rowdy
didn t talk to Junior anymore. Without his best friend, Junior completely lost hope. He was
scared of the white people and did not expect them to welcome him. He was right. Most of the
Americans were cold to him and he did not try to raise his status. Many of the white people made
fun of him, and when one guy, Roger, said Did you know that Indians are living proof that niggers
f*** buffalo? (pg. 64) he felt that he had to stop it. So he punched him. Junior was expecting to get
punched back, but he didn t. In the Indian Reservation, he
The Pros And Cons Of The Judicial System
After that, the trial started which was my brother and mother against the two of them. However, the
state decided to take the case over and that turned my brother and mother into witnesses. For some
reason they did not include myself on the witness list because I did not see the faces of the shooters,
but I did see everything that was going on in the house while the shooting was going on. Anyway, the
trialbegan and it felt like my mother and brother were on trial and not the two guys that were
actually being prosecuted. Since the images that were taken from the kitchen in our house showed a
half empty container of liquor, my mother and brother were called alcoholics and that they could
have been drunk. They said that them being drunk would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The police force is put into place to aid and protect us and the judicial system is put into place to
serve us the justice that we deserve. The sad reality of it all is that none of those things are coming
from them because the police force are the ones that we end up needing to be protected from. We
need protecting from them because they have been killing completely innocent people including
children, who are at the upmost innocent. The judicial system is failing us because they are not
putting away the people that are doing the shootings, even though they have hard evidence proving
who did the shooting and the fact that there was no legitimate reason to fire on the innocent
individuals. I honestly do not know where to turn to anymore because I do not feel safe anymore
knowing how some of the police officers are and knowing the fact that even if you are an eye witness
to something, there is a strong chance that nothing is going to be done to the people that are
committing the crimes. This sickens me because they do not want you to take situations into your
own hands and to come forward and feel comfortable to talk to them, so that they can protect you
from the people that are causing the harm. I guess they never thought that they would have to protect
us from the police force that is put into place to serve and protect
Marco Polo- An Exploratory Essay
Many children, including myself, have once played the game Marco Polo. Although, I have
always been curious, who exactly is Marco Polo? My fascination of Marco Polo warped into a
fixation of his travels. Marco Polo was born in Venice in the year 1254. His father, Nicolo, and his
uncle, Maffeo, were merchants who had seats in the great nobleman council of Venice (Polo IV).
According to his records, he had traveled thousands of miles with his father and uncle. Marco,
Nicolo and Maffeo (known as the Polos) left Venice, and did not return for twenty six years. Upon
their return, they were not welcomed in Venice. The Polos were long thought to have been dead.
When they arrived in Venice, their clothes were old and worn out; the things that... Show more

He called this city the City of Heaven (Freedman 41); Marcos wrote, It is without a doubt the finest
and most splendid city in the world (Freedman 41). However, Marco Polo s last stop was in China, a
place so different and interesting compared to his own; he spent the majority of his time there. After
about a three and a half year journey, Marco noted that the Polos arrived in the court of Kublai Khan,
the conqueror of China. The Great Khan ruled a vast empire of prosperous cities that had richer
goods, services, and technology than any place in Europe that Marco had ever seen (Freedman 6).
Kublai Khan was the grandson of the infamous Genghis Khan, the fearless Mongol who swept
across Asia and the Middle East generations earlier. When the Polos arrived in Shangdu (the
capitol of Kublai Khan s empire), the Mongol empire stretched from China, to Russia and Iraq;
the empire was at the pinnacle of its existence (Polo 26). Marco stated that he soon rose to a
position of power in Kublai Khan s court, because Mublai Khan was pleased by Marco s
knowledge and logic. Marco endeavored on confidential missions to learn about all kinds of
different matters in the countries he visited, in order to satisfy the curiosity of the Great Khan (Hart
35). The Polos accumulated great wealth in jewels and gold, thanks to the generosity of Kublai
Khan; however, they eventually grew homesick and began their
People Stop Deforestation
Why people need to slow down deforestation

For several thousands of years, humans have called the earth we live in home. As our populations
grow and expand, people utilize more natural resources like water, natural gases, and a lot of land.
As more of these resources are extracted in some way, there is a huge problem arising that will
affect everyone on earth in the near future pollution. Air pollution, water pollution, and even noise
pollution have been a problem, but now it is more evident how people s actions are affecting the
environment.
However, another form of harm that people are committing is deforestation. Deforestation is the act
of clearing of forests to have the land used for non forest use, such as putting communities. This has
clearly been going on for a long time, as there are communities almost all over the world where
forests were originally thriving. There is still deforestation going on, and people have now realized
how threatening it is for wildlife. What more people need to realize is that deforestation not only
affects wildlife by removing them from their homes, but deforestation also affects the human race by
contributing through another environmental problem climate change. Hence, people (especially
businesses) need to stop the act of deforestation because it contributes to climate change, which if
our average global temperature increases anywhere from one to six degrees, all forms of life on
Earth could face extinction. The first group of
How Can We Distinguish Clooney From Other Famous People
What distinguishes Clooney from other famous people is that he reliably acts as you wish other
famous people would act and does what you wish other famous people would do: which is the right
thing.
Now I would call Clooney a throwback. He is a throwback to what they suppose was a different
time that created a different kind of celebrity. I would even call him the closest thing we have to
Clark Gable, a mantle he has accepted to the extent that he replicated Gable s rhythms and timing
for O Brother, Where Art Thou? But there are a lot of throwbacks in this world. George Clooney is
the only throwback who lives in Clark Gable s house.
