The Pros And Disadvantages Of Globalization In Africa
According to Michael Todaro(2014), globalization refers to the increased openness of countries to
international trade, financial flows, and foreign direct investment(FDI). Globalization is a concept
that affects and would continue to affect all aspects of the world economy both domestically and
internationally. According to Robert Hiplin, growth of international trade, massie financial flows, and
the activities of multinational corporations (MNC s) are tying national economies more tightly to
one another, thus making globalization feature of the world economy. But is globalization a
PANACEA or a PERFIDY to the economic developmentof the global south?. Brittan(1998) for
instance define globalization as a whirlwind of relentless and disruptive change which leaves
governments helpless and leaves a trail of economic, social, cultural and environmental problems...

providing uniform rules and dispute settlement mechanisms for global trade. In reality however,
there are vast imbalances in bargaining and negotiating capacities as many global north countries

The Importance Of Undergraduate Students In Psychology
Undergraduate students (100 women, 80 men, M= 20.5 years, age range: 18 37 years) enrolled
in psychology classes at a large private university were recruited using flyers handed out in their
psychology classes. They will be recruited by introducing the purpose and goal of the research,
giving them details about how their participation will contribute to the future research on
attachment styles and how relationships are affected by it. A flyer made by the researchers will
be given to professors to pass out in class and students can sign up if they want to participate.
Participation will be anonymous and voluntary. Clients from a local Marriage and Family therapy
clinic will also be sampled (50 women, 30 men, M= 35 years, age range:... Show more content on

We will than compare and contrast these results between the college students and clients and see
their experiences and beliefs up close.
Procedure
Following the distribution of flyers in their psychology classes, students will be participating in the
study during class time. They will be given a brief presentation on the purpose of the study along
with some knowledge about the subject of the study. They will be told that it is anonymous and
that they have the options to withdraw or not participate. They will then be given a hard copy of
the scale, read the instructions, and look at the numerical scale first to see which options they have
for ratings. Once the instructions are given, the researchers will ask the participants if they
understand the instructions. Once it is indicated that all participants understand the study and the
purpose of the study, the participants will be able to begin. The scale has 12 questions in which
participants will have to choose on a 7 rate scale, ranging from strongly disagree to strongly agree.
Some of the questions are stated as It helps to turn to my romantic pattern in times of need , I turn to
my partner for many things, including comfort and reassurance , I do not often worry about being
abandoned , and I usually discuss my problems and concerns with my
Essay on Comparing Romeo and Juliet Films
Comparing Romeo and Juliet Films In this essay I intend to compare both the part scenes of
Franco Zefferelli and Baz Lurhman movie. Franco s film was screened in 1970; the actors who
play the role of Romeo Juliet are Leonardo Whiting and Olivia Hussey. Baz s film was screened in
1997. Leonardo Di Caprio played the role of Romeo and Clare Danes had played the role of Juliet.
In this essay I will discuss the differences in both these film that tell the same story written by
William Shakespeare. The setting is the most vital part in these movie it shows us the age in which
the play is set in by just the glimpse of the furniture s and other materials such as the columns, arts

Tybalt, in both the movies he is exposed as the mean, powerful, short tempered man, though in
Baz s version we see the all great Tybalt enjoying himself with his dear old aunt Lady Capulet.
Lady C in the old version is seen as stern, cold hearted looking women, I know of this by just the
expression that she gives of. Lady C in the modern version is seen as wild women who is seen
kissing her own nephew, she is also seen being persuasive when she makes her daughter Juliet
dance with Paris. We see Juliet as a young pretty girl who dances gracefully in the old version. I
notice her afraid, when Romeo tries to kiss her hand she, she quickly retrieves her hand from him.
We also witness the look of a shock and upset when she founds out that Romeo is a Montague. Baz
s version Juliet looks a bit older, she is pretty and innocent, though she unlike the other Juliet had let
Romeo kiss, and she wasn t afraid or ashamed by committing this kiss. Juliet I noticed is not a girl
who obeys her parents, when her mother and the nurse were calling for her she seems to ignore them

Recitatif Theme Essay
he title of Toni Morrison s short story, Recitatif, means, among other things, a recital of some sort,
and the protagonist, Twyla, provides us with a recital of her connect with Roberta, also placed in
the shelter where Twyla once lived. Morrison s parents taught her much about understanding racism
and growing up in predominantly white America. Her father was pessimistic about whites and
blacks learning to tolerate each other, but Toni s mother was much more optimistic. It is no surprise,
then, that Morrison s themes would address these issues. The theme of prejudice runs through the
story, which Twyla introduces early on when she tells Old Bozo that her mother won t like her
being placed in a room with a white girl, but Twyla doesn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The first time, Roberta is going through a hippie phase, on her way to see Jimi Hendrix Twyla
waitressing tables when Roberta arrives. This shows the first divide between them: a social one.
Next they meet as adults and they seem to enjoy reconnecting. The third time they meet again, it
is across picket lines where white women fight bussing that will integrate schools, and both are
on opposite sides. There is still a connection, but paradoxically, they are enemies. The divide here
is a racial one. The last time they meet, Roberta is a little drunk and speaks honestly with her old
friend. Robert s preoccupation is about whatever happened to Maggie? This may symbolize
Roberta sense of personal failure for not standing up for the woman and that she really wanted to
hurt he this may parallel her struggle with Twyla. The story may thematically parallel the struggles
between whites a blacks of the time. However, perhaps it also demonstrates that some connections
can be made regardless of color, and that once in place, those threads cannot easily be severed. In
this we may see Morrison s mother s optimistic view of peace between the
One Blind Man To Another In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Cathedral: One Blind Man to Another
In Raymond Carver s Cathedral, the reader is given a glimpse into the precarious relationship
between the narrator and his wife. The narrator shares his heavily critical point of view on the
forthcoming visit from his wife s old friend whom he calls the blind man later known as Robert .
Specifically, Carver uses first person narrative to put the reader in the mindset of the speaker who
although keeps information hidden about himself, eventually exposes a substantial amount of
character through his commentary. Slowly but surely he divulges his tremendously insecure,
stubborn, and immature nature when it comes to matters of exhibiting empathy for others and most
importantly obtaining the emotional depth for it. The narrator seems to have formed a bias against
Robert based off of his knowledge of him through his wife s stories of her time with him. Beginning
the passage, he expresses his disdain for the blind man visiting him and his wife saying he isn t
enthusiastic about his visit and his being blind bothered [him] to the point of outright stating that it
was not something [he] looked forward to (p.209). Maintaining the feeling of an obvious dislike
towards Robert, he goes to explain how Robert touched his wife s face, even her ... Show more

However, as the story closes, the narrator lets Robert guide him, finally allowing himself to be
vulnerable so much, that shortly after he experiences an epiphanic moment insinuating a possible
change of heart. As a whole, the narrator s transition from a cold, rigid, tone into that of alluded
enlightenment gives hope to the readers in that it s never too late to transform your perspective on

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Video Game Therapy
Video Game Therapy
People choose many ways to learn how to deal with life. Life can be either difficult at times or
easy. The same idea can be applied to video games. Playing online games taught me patience, how to
interact with other people around the world and how to manage my stress.
Two factors in online games that can determine my interest are drop rates and game difficulty. A drop
rate is the probability or ratio that determines how much more or how much less an item will
become available from an enemy in a game. The drop rate for some items can be miniscule. When I
played Final Fantasy IX ten years ago, I had to kill a monster called a leech for an item that had a
low drop rate. Because of the low drop rate, it took me six hours to obtain ... Show more content on

Sometimes I just want to sit down and tune out everything around me, turn down the sound
effects, and listen to the music in the game. It calms me, and I forget about my problems for a
while. It is a stress reliever, and I also get an adrenaline rush from challenging fights. When an
enemy is tough and causes widespread area damage, every minute step or evasive direction I
choose to make could be fatal. Some people quit, I choose to persevere until I win. The feeling
when I accomplish something so difficult makes the task worth it. Because I am stationed
overseas, I do not get to spend time with my family back in the states, and it causes stress. Online
games are a great way to still keep in touch with them. Recently I started playing with my brother,
although our time differences make it difficult. I also bond with my wife by playing video games.
Socializing with others is enjoyable, but finding something that I can share with my significant other
helps us manage relationship stress. I try to update her equipment in order for her to fully enjoy all
that the game has to offer, and that in itself makes me happy.
In conclusion, playing online games over the years has taught me how to persevere through tough
times. Even though I live in another country, I will not let language barriers keep me from enjoying
my time here. Life is annoying, and I am glad I found something that I can share with my significant
Children Exhibit Behaviors That Are Associated With...
Children exhibit behaviors that are associated with Bipolar Disorder (BPD) as early as 2 years of
age. However, many children are not diagnosed until older due to the subjectivity of diagnosing
children with mental disorders while their brains are still developing. This leads to a prolonged
delay in diagnosis and treatment. However, with recent research, we are able to view and
compare brain structures of those with BPD to those who are not affected by BPD. By MRI and
fMRI scans, there are regions in the brain that are associated with BPD at certain sizes and
activity levels. Individuals with Bipolar show decreased brain volumes in emotion related
neurocircuitry, such as the amygdala and the prefrontal cortical regions (Marrus, Bell, Luby, 2014).
With being able to see structural abnormalities within the brain we are also able to determine if
treatments for these disorders are effective. With the use of proper medication, volumetric
differences occur in the regions of the brain that are associated with BPD and therefore provide
evidence that brain structure abnormalities can be normalized with medication. However, even with
treatment, individuals with BPD tend to follow the trend that they are still more susceptible to drug
abuse, aggressive behavior, and binge drinking later on in life (Swendsen et al., 2010). Additionally,
BPD used to always be considered the sole mental illness an individual had but recently it has been
shown that BPD is comorbid with other diseases,

Most software for Linux is included with its installation CD, whereas for Windows, everything
must be purchased separately for a high price. Also, in most situations, the software for both
operating systems is equivalent, yet there is a significant price difference between them. A person
using the computer on a daily basis and who needs various software applications will prefer Linux
over Windows.
HARDWARE:
More hardware is available for Windows than for Linux. However, Linux is compatible with most
hardware and it runs on almost any platform. It can also run from a CD ROM whereas Windows
has to be installed on the hard drive before it can be used. So, for someone who uses a lot of
hardware such as CD/DVD burner or printer, Windows would be more beneficial than Linux.
USER INTERFACE:
Windows is more user friendly thank Linux. However, Linux is more customizable than Windows
since its code is accessible to anyone. For someone who does not care much about the extra features
such as the uniqueness of the desktop, Windows will be better because of its user friendly interface.
SECURITY/STABILITY:
As of May 2004, it was calculated that there are about 40000 viruses created for Windows over the
past ten years.[1] Furthermore, this count of viruses implies that Windows is being attacked by
almost 10 viruses per day. Compared to Windows, Linux is virus free. Linux strictly asks for the

it would also help to calm them down beacuse it is proven that dogs that get daiy ecercise tends to

Ritz Carlton Competitive Advantage
A familiar organization and the analysis of its competitive advantages
There are several organizations that have competitive advantages in the industry. However, one
familiar organization that has maintained its competitive advantage in its industry is the Ritz Carlton
hotel. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States of America,
Ritz Carlton is regarded as one of the best in the hotel industry and has received several accolades for
great customer services (Ritz Carlton Hotels Resorts, n.d.). Nevertheless, to fully understand its
competitive advantage in the industry, it is essential to analyze its modus operandi. The Ritz Carlton

The organization has explicitly kept this advantageous environment over other organizations by
improving its service capacity. Additionally, the organization ensures that it stays ahead of its rivals
by engaging in research and development that focuses on luxury products and markets analysis. The
Ritz Carlton hotel uses data from its research to predict the future of the industry; therefore able to
dictate what and how the market will trend in the foreseeable future. Another factor that keeps the
organization s advantage over its rivals is that while rivals tend to become a hotel brand in the
industry, Ritz Carlton has rather position itself to be a leader and lifestyle brand that constantly
develop new properties and ensure that customers live the culture of the hotel. The final factor that
has kept the advantage of the organization intact is the culture of trust that exists between the
management and employees. The leadership of the hotel lives and communicates the organization s
value to its employees who in turn satisfy customers in a way that they often anticipate a return visit.
These are some of the reasons that the Ritz Carlton hotel continued advantageous environment over
its rivals has persisted in the hotel and resort industry (Reiss,
