Story:
Once, two friends were walking through a forest. Suddenly, they saw a bear coming toward them. One
friend quickly climbed a tree. The other friend did not know how to climb, so he lay down on the ground
and pretended to be dead.

The bear came near and sniffed him. Bears do not eat dead animals, so it left. After the bear had gone,
the friend on the tree came down and asked, “What did the bear say in your ear?”

The other friend replied, “The bear told me not to trust a friend who leaves you in danger.”

Moral: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

2. The Farmer and His Sons

Story:
There was once a farmer who had four sons. They always quarreled with one another. The farmer was
very sad. One day, he became very ill and knew he would die soon.

He called all his sons and gave them a bundle of sticks. He asked them to break it, but none could. Then
he untied the bundle and gave them single sticks. They broke them easily.

The farmer said, “If you stay united like the bundle of sticks, no one can harm you. But if you keep
fighting, anyone can defeat you.”

Moral: Unity is strength.

Story:
One day, a stag went to a pond to drink water. He saw his reflection and admired his beautiful horns. But
he disliked his thin legs.

The stag thought, “I hated my legs, but they saved me. I loved my horns, but they are putting me in
danger.” He struggled hard and finally escaped.
