Info: Interest capitalization delayed until six months after the end of the COVID-19 payment pause.

Dear BRANDI,

We are reaching out to you because you have accrued interest on your Nelnet-serviced student loan(s) that is eligible to
capitalize (be added to your outstanding principal balance). However, based on guidance provided by the U.S.
Department of Education, the capitalization of any interest is being delayed until six months after the end of the
COVID-19 payment pause. Normally, accrued interest is added to the outstanding principal balance in a number of
situations, including after a six-month grace period, or at the end of certain deferment and forbearance periods.

Why would I have accrued interest?

No interest accrued during the payment pause which began March 13, 2020, since during that period interest rates were
at 0%. The interest referenced in this notification would have accrued before the pause began or since the pause ended.

What should I expect next?

Though you are not required to make payments through the end of your COVID-19 emergency relief period, any
payments you choose to make will be applied to any accrued interest first and then to your outstanding principal
balance. Payments made after the end of your emergency relief period will be applied in this manner as well.

If, six months after the end of the COVID-19 payment pause, you have accrued interest and a situation where
capitalization will occur (as described above), we will notify you of your options to pay the accrued interest, or you could
choose to have it added to your outstanding principal balance.

To view your accrued interest, refer to your next monthly billing statement or log in to your Nelnet.com account.
