Here’s a 4-minute script for your Shifted Fate act, where Batman descends into darkness after

Joker kills Alfred, making him more brutal and unhinged.

Title: Shifted Fate – The Fall of the Bat

Characters:
Batman (Bruce Wayne) – Losing his sanity, turning ruthless.
Joker – Still playing his games, but now facing an unpredictable Batman.
Two-Face (Harvey Dent) – A broken man, watching Batman change.
Commissioner Gordon – The last voice of reason.

Setting: An abandoned warehouse in Gotham. The atmosphere is darker than ever—raining

outside, flickering lights, the city on the brink of collapse.

SCENE 1: THE BREAKING POINT

Narrator (Alfred Pennyworth): I am Alfred Pennyworth from the other side, in the Alternate
reality where Joker is able to deduce the real identity of Batman through his cunning. I was in
the room full of barrels of oil and Ammonium Nitrate at 250 52 nd Street, instead of Harvey
Dent with Rachel in the other room, Bruce had to choose. A misstep killed the both of us
engulfed in the fire. Bruce lost his only connection to the Wayne Legacy and now he was
ONLY Batman.

(The Joker is chained to a chair, bloodied but smiling. Batman stands over him, fists
clenched, breathing heavily. Two-Face and Gordon watch from a distance. A bloody Bat-
symbol is painted on the floor.)

Joker: (grinning, voice mocking) Oh Bruce, you’ve really outdone yourself this time. Look at
you… all rage, no rules. You had a choice and it blew across your face.

(Batman remains silent, gripping Joker’s throat. Joker doesn’t flinch.)

Joker: What’s wrong? No snarky comeback? No "I’m better than you" speech?

(Batman tightens his grip. Joker chuckles, unfazed.)

Joker: Ohhh…it’s about Alfred, isn’t it? Does this suit remind

(Batman’s breathing intensifies. Flashbacks—Alfred tied to a chair, Joker laughing, fire

consuming the 250 52nd Street. The sound of Alfred’s last scream. Cut back to present—
Batman trembles.)

Batman (whispering): You killed him…

Joker: (smiling) He was in my way. Just like you were in mine.

(Batman suddenly PUNCHES Joker HARD. Then again. And again. Joker laughs, coughing
blood.)
Joker (laughing manically and repeatedly screaming): HIT ME! HIT ME! Don’t you want To
kill me? If you hadn’t had killed me in the commissioner’s custody, Alfred would be alive.
Batman: ENOUGH
(Batman chokes the Joker)

(Batman stops, breathing erratic as joker’s lifeless body is something snapping inside him.)

Got it! Since Joker is already dead in Scene 1, I’ll revise the next two scenes accordingly
while keeping the dark, psychological tone and focusing on Batman’s descent into moral
ambiguity and the Grandfather Paradox twist.

SCENE 2: THE SHIFTED FATE

(A dark alleyway in Gotham—rain pours in heavy sheets, lightning crackling across the sky.
A gang of criminals—armed, laughing, unaware of the storm that hunts them—counts their
money beneath a flickering streetlight. The sound of dripping water mixes with their low
murmurs.)
Thug #1 (grinning, loading his pistol):
Man, ever since Joker bit it, Gotham's been wide open. No Bat, no freaks, just easy pickings.
Thug #2 (dragging a tied-up civilian):
Yeah? And who’s gonna stop us? GCPD? That old fool Gordon? This city belongs to us now.
(A sudden clank of metal—a shadow moves overhead. One of them notices. His blood runs
cold.)
Thug #3 (nervous, looking up):
…Wait. You hear that?
(Silence. The wind howls, a distant thunder rumbles. Then—a low, growling voice from the
darkness.)
Batman (whispering):
No. It belongs to me.
(Then—CRACK! A batarang slashes through the streetlight. The alley plunges into
blackness. Panic sets in. The thugs scramble, gripping their guns. Their breaths shaky. The
darkness itself feels alive.)
Thug #1 (shouting, aiming blindly):
SHOW YOURSELF, COWARD!
(A thud behind them. A scream. A body drops. A second later, another.)
Thug #2 (stumbling back):
N-no. No way. He’s dead. I heard he—
(A deep snarl cuts through the rain. Then—a boot SMASHES into his ribs, sending him
flying into the wall. The others barely react before a gloved fist cracks against a jaw—teeth
scatter onto the pavement. Blood splashes in the rain.)
(The remaining thugs fire wildly, bullets flashing like lightning—but they hit nothing. The
dark is his ally. Their fear his weapon. One by one, they fall.)
(Then—only one remains. Trembling, his back pressed against a dumpster. His gun clicks
empty. His body shaking. And then, from the shadows, he emerges. Batman—his cape
soaked in blood and rain. His armor scarred. His eyes… dead.)
Batman (low, guttural, monstrous):
I am vengeance.
(He grabs the thug’s collar, hoisting him off the ground. The thug screams, thrashing—
useless. Batman’s fist tightens. The air thickens with fear.)
Thug #3 (sobbing, pleading):
P-please… we-we were just—
*(A brutal punch. The thug coughs blood. Another punch—ribs crack. A third—his nose
shatters. The world blurs in pain. His vision darkens.)
*(Batman doesn’t stop.)
*(Another hit. A sickening crunch. The body slumps, twitching. The rain washes away the
blood—but Gotham will remember this night. The night Batman ceased to be a hero.)
(He stands over the motionless bodies. Breathing heavy. Rain dripping down his cowl. A
man no longer restrained by justice.)
(Then, sirens. In the distance. The sound of Gordon’s men. But by the time they arrive—he is
gone. All that remains are the broken, shattered souls of those who dared to claim Gotham
as their own.)
Narrator (Alfred’s voice, sorrowful):
"He used to be their protector. Now? He is their nightmare."

SCENE 3: “THE FALL OF THE BAT”

(The rooftop of the GCPD headquarters. The Bat-Signal flickers in the stormy sky, its glow
barely visible through the downpour. Commissioner Jim Gordon stands alone, his coat
drenched, his hands trembling. He has summoned Batman. But tonight, it is not Gotham’s
protector he waits for—it is Gotham’s executioner.)
(A shadow moves. Then—THUD. The Dark Knight lands behind Gordon, cape billowing.
But this is no longer the Batman Gordon once knew. The cowl is cracked, his armor
splattered with blood—not his own. His fists are raw from violence. His breathing—
inhuman. His eyes—empty. He has become something else.)

Gordon (hoarse, barely holding it together):

Bruce… what the hell have you done?
(Batman does not answer. The rain drips down his mask, his silence more terrifying than
words.)
Gordon (firm, stepping closer):
I've seen a lot in this city. I've seen madmen in clown makeup, masked freaks playing god.
But this? This is not the Batman I believed in.
Batman (cold, detached):
Maybe you believed in the wrong man.
(Gordon’s hands shake. He has faced fear before—but never like this. Not from him.)
Gordon (gritted teeth):
You think this is justice? Running through the streets, painting the walls with their blood?
You promised me you’d never cross that line!
(Batman steps forward, his figure towering over Gordon. His voice is eerily calm.)
Batman:
And where has that promise gotten me? Gotham still rots. Crime still thrives. I spent years
fighting the disease… now I am the cure.
(Gordon grabs Batman’s arm. It’s a mistake. In a flash, Batman’s hand is at his throat. He
lifts him effortlessly, pressing him against the rusted Bat-Signal. Gordon gasps, struggling to
breathe.)
Batman (voice like thunder):
You still don’t get it, Jim. There is no saving Gotham. There is only control.
Gordon (choking, eyes filled with sorrow):
You sound like him…
(Batman pauses. A flicker of something—recognition? Doubt? But then, it vanishes. He
releases Gordon, who collapses, coughing. Batman steps back. The wind howls. The light
flickers. A moment of silence.)
Gordon (pained, looking up):
Joker’s dead. But he still won.
(Batman turns away. The words sting. He knows they are true. He has become what he swore
to destroy. The line between justice and vengeance has blurred into nothing.)
Batman (whispering, to himself):
No. He didn’t.
(He turns, his cape sweeping behind him. His boots hit the rooftop’s edge. A final glance at
Gordon—his last tie to the past. He is no longer Gotham’s savior. He is something else. And
then—he leaps. Vanishing into the night, into legend, into fear itself.)

Narrator (Alfred’s voice, final monologue):

"You either die a hero… or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

FADE TO BLACK.
FINALITY.
 Batman is lost. He has become the monster he swore to fight.
 Gordon is broken. He has failed to save his friend.
 The city still needs him… but can he ever return?
