Affidavit- is a voluntary declaration of facts written down, sworn to, and signed by the person
making the declaration before an officer authorized to administer oaths, such as a notary.
Certified– sworn.
Nolo Contendere - when a person does not accept or deny responsibility for the charges but agrees
to accept punishment) or pleads guilty to, or is found guilty of, any felony.
1. They direct interactions with the community and decision-making processes. It is
expected of officers to uphold values that promote confidence between the public and
law enforcement.
2. Using one's position of power to threaten or injure people, taking bribes, breaking the
law to further one's own interests, or discriminating against others. The integrity and
trustworthiness of the legal system are weakened by these acts.
3. Confidential information is typically protected by law or policy. Maintaining one's
integrity, ensuring the safety of all parties involved, and maintaining public trust all
depend on keeping that kind of information private.
4. When a police officer's personal interests, affiliations, or professional responsibilities
could compromise their impartiality and integrity, it is considered a conflict of interest in
law enforcement. It could further damage public confidence, lead to biased decision-
making, and impede efficient law enforcement; for this reason, it's critical that police
report any potential conflicts of interest and follow ethical standards.
5. The accountability, professionalism, and integrity of every law enforcement action are
the main goals of the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics. It requires officers to uphold the
law in a fair and unbiased manner, safeguarding everyone's rights and fostering public
confidence in the organization.
6. Law enforcement personnel should not act in an unprofessional manner by harboring
animosity or bias toward community members, as this undermines confidence and
collaboration. Additionally, the cops should never make offensive jokes or speak in a
rude manner. Because such an action could eventually cause a rift between them and
the community and seriously harm established connections.
7. In carrying out their duties, police officers also make moral judgments such as
considering how their acts would affect public confidence and abstaining from
discrimination or bias against community members. Another is taking into
account the long-term effects of behavior, both on and off the job, to make sure
the law is obeyed and the department's principles are upheld in private affairs .
