Polyend Tracker – encoder replacement

Things needed
• Phillips head screw driver

• Soldering station and some tin

• Desoldering equpment

• Allen wrench 1.3

1. Place your tracker on something safe to

prevent scratches and flip it over.

2.Carefully take off the serial number.

3.Get rid of the scews holding front plate.

4.Carefully flip the tracker by holding the

front and back plates together so the inner
parts won't fall out.

5. Now make use of the Allen wrench 1.3 and take out the
screw holding the knob.
6. Now you can take the front plate as well
and put it somewhere safe. You'll have access
to the PCB.

7. Very carefully flip the screen over and make

sure you are not putting it on anything which
could cause damage.

8.There are two types of screen connectors and they may vary from unit to unit. They differ in the
way they open.

- type no.1
-type no.2

9. Now it’s time to disconnect grid PCB.

10. Your tracker should look as follows. Now main PCB is secure and can be removed.

11. Remove the main PCB starting from the bottom

12. Now it’s finally time to get rid of the faulty encoder. Simply follow the pictures.

1. Unlock the top of the encoder 2.

3. Take off the top part 4. Move the middle part until it falls off

5. With pliers, pull the protruding part on both sides until it is possible to squeeze it.
6. Move it in the directions shown on the picture untill it falls of. Be carefull to not cause any
damage to the PCB

7. Time to get rid of the old tin with whatever method is available to you.

8. Time to solder the new encoder. There are two

compatible types of encoder Alpha and Bounrs for
this example we will use Alpha model.
9. Now it’s time to put everything back
together.

1. Connect the grid PCB aswell as the

screen.

2. Be very delicate while closing the connector – double check if it's connected right. Don’t forget
about the ferrite!
4. When inserting the PCB into the housing,
start by inserting all jacks, the SD card slot
and the switch in the appropriate holes.

5. Make sure the screen fits snugly on the

plastic mounts and close the casing. Don’t
force anything! Everything should fit
perfectly but if it doesn't please check
again if everything is in its place.
7. Flip it over and tighten all the screws.

8. Glue back in the serial number.

9. Put the knob back in and tighten the screw and
you are done!
